~HighWind Nightmare~“I made another promise...to protect...my family. Sometimes, you've gotta choose!” Fang only had a few seconds before she was the one being laid on. She had been about to growl out something on the lines of 'get offa me you big oaf,' and yet she didn't. When he had intertwined their fingers Fang had subconsciously tightened her grip. Now she went from watching him with a perplexed look to staring at their hands. The cold of his glove was against her hand, but the warmth of his hand radiated from underneath. Dragging her gaze from their hands back to him, Fang didn't say much of anything. He went back and forth so quickly, what was he really thinking? Best not to even go there, or else she'd start really becoming attached. Fighting against becoming attached wasn't working out that well though, even though she was trying. Not working...
For a moment she just laid there, at least he was warm even if he was laying on her. She knew full well he was asserting his dominance, but she didn't feel the need to counter against that. They both knew if she wanted to she could become a fiery ball of rage not many would want to go up against. Her eyes went from almost shock at what he was saying to suddenly she was laughing. A chuckle of disbelief, not mocking him for saying anything. He just didn't seem like the type to have any sort of soft spot, or the kind to tell someone they were beautiful. It might have been that moment she decided something. If somehow she made it through this alive and a human, she was going to find Angeal and help him with his focus. Yet she kept that thought to herself. That was a big if, and besides, something told her Angeal would just start telling her not to come if she told him. Better to just let him think she would listen.
Laying there Fang simply watched him. Truth be told it scared her that he could make her want to forget her focus just like that. That she wanted to have something to look foreword to, a future. What made her angry was that even though she could dream, it probably wasn't reality. Reality was a brand and a focus, ending up as either a Cie'th or a crystal. A sadness came into her steady green eyes. Sadness because she couldn't do a damn thing about it, because she didn't want to become a Cie'th or a crystal. Because she should have met him five hundred years previous before she got turned into a damn l'cie. This was the Fang beneath the woman everyone saw on the outside, the one with feelings. What he said made her smile a little bit, but the smile didn't reach her eyes.
His words. That part of her that knew life wouldn't end up well for either of them was screaming at her. Ignoring it the best she could, Fang tried to look away from his gaze but couldn't. “I...you...” What was she supposed to say? State the if only's? He loosened his hold on her hand which made her tighten hers. Fang wasn't good at getting emotional things out. “No Angeal. I'm just...” Scowling, Fang looked up at him and studied his face, wishing it was easy to get all bubbly and outgoing like it was for Vanille. Reaching up to put her free hand on his chest, Fang tried to think of how to tell him what she was thinking. “When I'm around you, I don't want to complete my focus. I want to have that future. But it scares me damn it.” Closing her eyes for a second, Fang took a few breathes before she opened them. Fang would take on the entire planet of Cocoon as Ragnarok but she was scared of this.

Angeal felt her tighten her grip and in turn tightened his back up and looked into her eyes when she began to trip and stumble over her words. At least she was not absolute, because that meant she would reject him more than likely. He knew she was as hard pressed when it came to showing her emotions as he was, they were a brand of people that would rather show actions that illustrated feelings rather than actually say them. As he knew this was true, he allowed his head to come down and stop her from choking on her words by pressing his lips against hers in a passionate kiss. This one was filled with all the things he could not say, but wanted her to know desperately. His eyes closed and he melted into her (figuratively).
He pulled back trying not to seem like he was lustful, his eyes full of forgotten emotions and things he had been feeling for her all day. ''Um, I only know one thing, that's the here and now. Here I am with you right now, I'm not going anywhere'', he said reassuring her by kissing her hand while it was clasped in his own.
Sorry...really short.

~HighWind Nightmare~ “I guess I deserve it...after what I did.” Getting out what you wanted to say definitely wasn't easy when you weren't usually an emotional person. Angeal seemed to understand though, or at least he thought he did, because the next second he was kissing her again. This was becoming a habit with him. Still she couldn't help but raise her head a bit and kiss him back. It was nice, having his warmth close by. It was cold outside, but his heat radiated and made her a bit warmer. Still, it was hard to think strait when he was kissing her, hard to get out what she wanted to say. It seemed like she would never get it out.
His words assured her, even made her think she was being ridiculous. Acting the emotional woman, the part she didn't normally play. Usually it was Vanille that worried about the little things while Fang charged in uncaring about what happened. It was her reckless side, and yet Fang found she worried a lot more since awakening in Cocoon with Vanille's brand active. That smile reached her eyes this time at what he said and how he kissed her hand. Her entire life Fang had been callused, cold, unyielding, just the way things went from how she was raised, the things she had had to endure. It was nice not to have to be strong all the time.
Obviously he wasn't going anywhere. First off he was in a world he didn't know where everything breathing wanted to eat him for breakfast, and of course he was laying right on top of her. But all that aside it really was what she needed to hear. “Your the first person I've ever told I've actually been scared of anything.” In reality that was true, at least that she could remember. Ever since Anima had failed to protect Oerba and her life had crumbled apart at her feet Fang had built a wall around herself. It was borne out of necessity. It wasn't as if she couldn't talk about her feelings, but it wasn't something she did often.
With a chuckle Fang looked up at him again, her eyes lighter. “You ever gonna' get offa me handsome?” Watching him with her steady green eyes she realized yet again how tired she was. What would the next day bring? Would she be taking him to Oerba? That was a long journey. First to the steppes, through the mines, then the springs, the tower and finally to Oerba. What if there wasn't anything they could find at Oerba that would help to take them back? She didn't want to go back. Fang wanted to stay in Pulse, but Vanille and the damned focus waited her back in Cocoon. One thing, she was going to sleep well, no staying awake on guard duty, that overgrown dog could keep them safe. “Your Beasty had better be good with guard duty, because I don't feel like staying up late watching for the boogyman.” Words: 623 Muse: still pretty good Tagged: Angeal Notes: its alright :3

He realized he was still on her and came with a quick retort. ''Heh Heh, you have to release this death grip you have on my hands first'', he said smiling and not actually wanting her to let him go. Even though he did feel his hands being warm from hers, it seemed like she was holding on for dear life, and he was okay with that. After all at least he knew she felt something for him, and it was not just one sided. Because in the past he had been one sided with a woman and she ended up hurt, and he imagined it would be the same had he been in her situation.
''And one more thing, if you keep kissing me like that I'll have to think you're only using me for my lips'', he said laughing and falling back on his rear and looking at her to see what she would say. Of course she wouldn't just allow him to put the whole thing on her, after all he was the one that actually started it. ''What is wrong with you just kissing people all willy nilly'', he said mockingly wagging his finger at her in a scolding manner but he was playing of course.
He thought of what she had said before, ''It is human to have fear''. He was good at this type of speaking, philosophical sententious type stuff. ''Having fear is okay, and if you can control it, you will be a stronger warrior'', he said looking up then over at Cerberus. ''You can't run into battle thinking you're invincible, then you don't do things like...dodge...and take cover'', he says as he balances on his elbows. ''That's how you get shot, or stabbed, or sliced up'', he said smiling and looking at her.

~HighWind Nightmare~It doesn't matter what our focus is, we do it. Whether we like it, or not.” Fang suddenly realized she was still gripping his hand. With a little chuckle she released her death grip on his hand. “I suppose your right, it'd be a good idea.” A little smirk and Fang sat up when he did. Only using for-...men sure had some strange ideas. Fang raised a brow and watched him, her gaze steady yet full of humor. “Now thats an odd thing t' think, considering you've been doin' most a' the kissing.” Unlike most thought, Fang did have that side to her that enjoyed life, lately though, ever since coming back out of crystal stasis, all that was on her mind was getting Vanille and herself back to Gran Pulse and figuring out what their focus was. She only had a certain amount of time to do it, and thus that side of her had been pushed in the background. No time for fun when you were a l'cie.
Willy nilly! “Tch, whatever you say soldier boy.” Fang wagged a finger right back at him, “What would your mother say if you were kissing a woman over five hundred years old?” Remembering his mother was dead, Fang wasn't sure how he would respond to that. Of course, she hadn't been meaning anything but fun, hopefully he would take it that way. Brow was still raised as she looked at him, it was somewhat odd to see him out of his normal attitude and actually be laughing and teasing her. It made her smile, knowing they could both lighten up at times. The air was chillier now that she didn't have a human blanket. Lifting her hands Fang rubbed her arms to get them warmed up a bit.
It was funny how he just stated her words right back at her. Human...she had her doubts at times, but they were human, though enhanced humans, humans nonetheless. Could she control her fear? Yes, yes she could. She thought of how scared she was at times that Vanille would become a cie'th and she wouldn't be able to stop it. Fang didn't give a damn if she was turned into a cie'th, but Vanille...she couldn't allow that to happen. Something told her he was good at talking about this sort of thing. The reckless side of her usually charged in without a care as to how powerful the enemy was. To her there was nothing you couldn't do if you set your mind to it. Maybe that was why she was so stubborn. With a shrug Fang stretched her arms and arched her back again before looking up at him to see that smile once again on his face.
“So what are we doing tomorrow? You want to see a little more of Gran Pulse? I suppose we should start searching for a way to get back.” Running a hand through her hair Fang scowled slightly, “I'd rather stay here...damn Cocoon.” Things didn't always go the way you wanted them to though. For a second Fang wondered if anyone still lived on Gran Pulse. It was odd...not having seen anyone, but they were quite a ways from any of the villages, so maybe here was a chance there were still people living here. There were only two people left alive that originated from the world 'down under' and that was Vanille and herself.

Angeal's face fell when she spoke of his mother, he did not want to get into that part of his life tonight, she had enough problems of her own without him making it worse with his own. His mother had never been a point of interest in him, he never liked recalling her because it made him more empathetic regarding her death. She was the only woman he had ever been close to, and she knew him like the back of her hand, nothing got passed her in his childhood. She had intuition greater than any SOLDIER, and the fact stands that if Angeal himself had it he maybe not have died the way he did. Then again everything happens for a reason. Had he not died he might not have met Fang.
''Well something tells me she wouldn't care haha'', he chuckled trying to make himself feel better regarding her. He heard Fang and thought immediately, 'How the hell should I know. This is your home planet'. Of course he did not say this out loud because then Fang would probably kill him. ''You're the leader here. I have no idea where I am supposed to be going'', he chuckled.
Angeal noticed her shaking and knew immediately that she was cold. So subconsciously he moved over behind her and wrapped his arms around her, but this time he took his gloves off for her to feel his warmth completely. He circled his arms around her and sort of pulled her back into his chest to compensate for the chilly temperature. ''You seem cold, let me fix that'', he says in her ear soft and warmly.

~HighWind Nightmare~“Listen, you're not alone anymore. We have a new family now. We stick together, ya hear me?” Fang didn't apologize for her words about his mother. It would pass without her making any comments about it. When had she ever apologized...for anything? There was probably a lot in her life to apologize for, but that didn't mean she had to do anything about it. In the future maybe...if she lived through this focus, then she'd say sorry. So the decision was hers. She decided they'd to go Oerba. Though it was a long journy, Fang wasn't leaving until she found out what had happened to Gran Pulse in the five hundred years she had been asleep. Was there anything left? Or rather, anyone left? From the state just the steppe's were in Fang had this empty feeling. Like there was nothing left. Nobody left. Nothing.
Yet if there was any hope that anyone was here Fang would find them. This was her home, the thought of it being desolated would be hard once she found out. The trip to Oerba would be an eyeopener. It would also make her loose hope momentarily, as it would the next time she saw it. What was there left? Other then death or becoming a monster? Its easy to loose sight of the future in a world so big as this one, but if you kept going and didn't give up you would regain that determination to do what you had to to go on. Changing destiny wasn't easy, but it could be accomplished if you tried. They could live on to greet the new dawn. “Oerba it is then.”
Glancing down her hands, Fang curled them into fists and tried to think of what their focus might be. She wanted to know, damn the blank page. If only she knew. If only she could figure it out, put the puzzle pieces together. As arms were put around her and she was drug back against Angeal thoughts of her focus left her. It was chilly out, the warmth of his body was nice. She had the slight notion of rolling her eyes at what he said, but instead she just smiled and glanced over her shoulder at him. There he went getting all cuddly again. Not of course, that she really minded. If she didn't like it Fang wouldn't be allowing it. Simple as that. Leaning her head back against his chest Fang closed her eyes and sighed, intertwining her fingers with his. His hand was callused, but that was to be expected of someone that worked. “Mhm,bein' the chivalrous soldier hmmm?” Words: 552 Muse: alright Tagged: Angeal Notes: none :3

He held on to her and relaxed at the feeling of her losing the tension in her muscles against his chest. ''Well I'm just here for your warmth and comfort, Where ever you decide to go I will follow'', he said turning his head to look over to Cerberus who had probably heard every word said by the two of them. He was probably eating it all up, that damn beast was growing on Angeal, yes he talked and all but did he have to be witty as well? Either way it was easy to have him there because he was able to handle any beast in this place. That was easy to see by how ready he was to attack when Angeal first called him.
Her scent overwhelmed him, his nostrils were filled with a smell of her hair and person. Simply intoxicating, and there was little that he could do to ween himself of her at this point. ''Anyone ever told you that you smell nice....for a warrior that is, I know sometimes I smell like holy hell after wearing this armor. It gets a little stuffy in here at times'', he says referring to his armor by knocking on it with his free hand.
Indeed Angeal felt like he finally found that person he could tolerate for more than just one night, he could deal with seeing her every day, every morning when he woke up. Yeah, it's sappy but Angeal was seemingly falling for this girl, he charisma, style, grace, and composure in danger made her seem like his equalizer. And the fact that he could fight along side her made it that much better. Zack was a bit like her in his tenacity and constant rebuttal for anything Angeal said or did.
But the question remained. Could he be trusted with another's heart?

~HighWind Nightmare~“Listen, you're not alone anymore. We have a new family now. We stick together, ya hear me?” Those thoughts. With her eyes closed leaning back on Angeal Fang caught his words only faintly. Muscles relaxed, somehow just being here on Gran Pulse with him made her forget for a few moments. Forget the hourglass that kept ticking. With her hand intertwined with his and her body resting up against Angeal Fang forced all other thought from her mind, she could continue thinking about that the next day. Why worry about something that couldn't be fixed? That was Vanille's job, Fang had to stay strong and not think, just act. They would get out of this, they had to. Somehow...someway. Possibly in Oerba...
Out of her relaxed state she faintly caught his words again. Opening her eyes slightly, Fang yawned and turned so that her side was more or less against him and curled up slightly. "Nope...no one." She mumbled out, closing her eyes again. Something she understood, yet she never fought with armor on, so she hadn't had to deal with that before. "You smell fine t' me..." Mumbling still in her half asleep state, Fang replied without knowing exactly what she was saying. "Loike a man...."
Curling up against him a bit more Fang gave into her exhaustion and fell asleep. Breathing became regular and body relaxed completely. The last thing she remembered was feeling safe, something she hadn't felt from someone else in a long time. For so long Fang had been the one taking care of herself and Vanille, relying completely on herself. It was hard to think someone else could protect her. It was...nice. The feeling of protection. Not something she should get used to, but nice for however long it lasted. Until they parted ways.For once Fang's sleep was peaceful.

He felt like this for the first time in the world. He felt like he had a purpose besides just fighting and killing for a company who he really had no idea about when it came to diplomacy and relations with the outside world. She was much more warm, and soft. It was then that he made up in his mind that if anything threatened them, or more specifically her, that Cerberus wouldn't have to move. Angeal himself would rip whatever it was to shreds with his own hands, which wasn't really a stretch since he had literally done it earlier that day. ''Wow, she just went to sleep, never been in this situation before'', he said to himself as he looked down at her as she cuddled against his chest.
Silently, beyond Angeal's comprehension, Cerberus snuck up on the two of them when their backs were turned to him and laid his head down next to Angeal. Angeal saw him and steadily adjusted himself and Fang so that she was still curled up against him but now Angeal was using him as a bed. If Cerberus needed to he could still spring into action at a moment's notice. Only now he was supporting the two of them as a bed.
Angeal shortly found himself dozing off to sleep. While in his nocturnal phase he began to dream, and in the dream stood a door, one marked honor, and one marked duty. His duty was to kill Sephiroth, however his honor would not allow him to kill his ex-SOLDIER friend. This was something that a dream could not fix, because in the dream Angeal seemed to close his eyes and pick one and the entire scene went completely white and he could not comprehend what happened after that.

[~Lithe Dragoon~]I'll tear down the sky if it'll save her! Curled up and asleep, Fang slept without dreaming of anything. Rare. So many dreams invaded her mind normally. Dreams of destruction, of the coming fate, rarely with good endings either. So safe, so comforting. Rarely was anyone else doing the comforting. Without dreams she slept on. Even if the future wasn't bright at least for this moment Fang could have a few hours of contentment. Such a short moment...if only it could last longer...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Green eyes opened to black material close to her face. Closing her eyes again Fang wondered exactly where she was. Wherever it was it was warm, so for a moment she closed her eyes and almost drifted off to sleep again before she realized where she was. With a start she put her hands on Angeal's chest and drew back a little bit, lifting her gaze to look at him and blinked a few times. What..? Lifting her hand to her lips, Fang yawned and blinked a few more times before looking around her. Sun had just started to come up, but hadn't wore off the chill yet.
Eyes closed as she leaned back to rest her body against him again. Warmth radiated toward her again. A good motivation to stay where she was instead of getting up. Right hand came up to rub her eyes before she became aware of something...or rather someone else. Eyes opened and turned to look at the oversized dog curled up there by them. For a moment she just watched before a smile softened the features of her face. That mutt was something else. Really something else. She'd stick with Bahamut though. Arching her back a bit to get the kinks out, Fang relaxed again and curled up to sleep a bit more. It was early yet, why not?
Somehow, some way Fang still felt safe, like she didn't have to worry about what was going on around her. That oversized dog would warn them, and in a split second Fang would be ready to charge into battle. So they were going to Oerba today. Eyes opened as she became wide awake. That meant a few things. Either she would find other people alive...or she wouldn't. What would she find in Oerba? A thriving village where everyone was family...? Or ruins of the place she had loved? Green eyes blankly looked out from where her head was rested against his chest. Of course she would deal with it either way. There was nothing else to do but go on. No where else to turn. Her life was a focus, the hourglass still running on borrowed time.
Eventually she would find out what her focus was. Eventually she would have to face up completely and force Vanille to complete it, whether she wanted to or not. Eventually she would have to be turned to crystal or a cie'th. Eventually...for here and now however, Fang was going to forget about eventually and focus on the present as best she could.
Angeal felt her move in his arms as he slept and it reflected in him tightening his arms around her to assure that she felt safe and secure. Also he wanted to make sure that she was not going anywhere, he wanted to see her when he woke up just as he had seen her when he fell asleep the previous night. Never had he seen someone be so fierce during the day yet so peaceful while asleep, he himself was still asleep, yet in his dreams for the longest time he could always form coherent thoughts regarding the day before in vivid detail. His old self, his true inner self was yelling at him to get as far away from her as he could, she would only get hurt. But the person whom had fallen for her was the one on the outside holding her close and near to him. This one had no shame that he was a man who cared for something besides his sword.
He snapped out of his sleep when the dog began to breath heavily and rolled out from under them. He made sure to cushion her from the ground so she wouldn't be woken up too abruptly. ''Damn dog'', he grunted, as he looked down at her to see if the fall had woken her. He would be furious with Cerberus if it had, after all she looked like sort of a savage angel in her sleep, one of both life and death. He glanced back and forth from the ground to Fang and to Cerberus occasionally.
Angeal drug the two of them over to a rock so that he could prop himself up and let he rest against his chest once more. Hopefully the movement would not wake her from he slumber. Something told him she would be like a bear waking up from hibernation. Very very vicious.
[~Lithe Dragoon~]I'll tear down the sky if it'll save her! Hearing Angeal growl out about the dog and having him shift around Fang opened her eyes and glanced around, more awake now. Blinking a few more times she scooted up to sitting position and stretched her arms. They were now propped up against a rock, and she wondered just when they had gotten there. With a bit of a shrug she sat and looked from Angeal, to where the sun was coming up on the horizon, to Cerberus and back to Angeal again. Something about the early morning and late at night calmed Fang down and helped to clear her mind. It was those few minutes that she could actually think without being interrupted or having to be on the run. relaxing her shoulders, Fang turned and leaned back against his chest again, only now she had her back to him and was looking at the surrounding area.
A part of her wished this could be her life every day. Waking up, alive, with him there on her own home world. Almost to good to be true. Of course it was to good to be true. Dreams were nothing but dreams. She could wish all she wanted, but that didn't mean anything would come about because of those dreams. Though she had her back to him somehow it seemed he was awake. "You awake?" Spoken softly so as not to wake him if he was still asleep, Fang felt his chest rise and fall with each intake of breath. Comforting.
What would it be like anyway? To actually have someone there every day you woke up? It wasn't something she had ever thought she'd experience. At least not since being made a l'cie. Not something she should get used to. It was hard to remind herself that things like this couldn't last, but when it came right down to it she could remind herself. Fang wasn't one to shirk responsibilities or avoid a problem, usually going to face it head on instead. That's what she felt she had to do now, and yet she didn't want to. Part of her deep down inside was hoping that once they got to Oerba she would find a solution to her problems.
It wasn't going to happen. She kept telling herself that, but what if it was possible? What if there was a way to get rid of their brands? To get rid of their focus? Vanille had tried so hard to convince her there was a way, but she had continuously denied the possibility in her head. There wasn't any way other then facing it head on and completing their focus. Yet being trapped in a crystal looked less and less appealing. Why was it only now that she didn't want to go on and complete her focus? Of course she knew the reason. Angeal. Yeah, she could admit it. The question of where to go from here was the real issue. ''Hnnngh'', he grunted to her question to let her know that he was semi-awake. That damn dog and his moving had kept Angeal up all night. Still watching Fang sleep was not so bad of a consequence for his insomnia. The fact still remained, that being this close to her had nearly the same rejuvenating quality as sleep, her form heaving in and out made him feel altogether useful. Prior to him meeting her there was no way in hell he would let a woman sleep near him much less in his arms. But as he stated earlier there is always the one person a warrior is willing to change for. In this case it was another warrior.
''What's your definition of 'up' '', he asked enclosing his arms to circle he like they had been doing all night long. ''The mutt woke me up about four or so hours ago, and I haven't been able to sleep since then'', he said nuzzling his face into the crook of her neck so his words became muffled. Her scent entranced him so he barely heard the next sound that came from something other than her.
''I resent being called a mutt human'', a deep brass voice came from the huddle Eidolon which they were across the path from. ''I could've let all those creatures attack you while the two of you slept like love enthralled pups'', he said as the two heads on the side slept soundly.
''Oh shut up flee bag'', he said tossing a rock lazily at him but missing by a marginal amount. ''I saw those creatures in my sleep....literally'', he said still buried in her neck.
