Ebony was surprised at the question and looked down. Josh probabaly wasn't going to like the answer...at all.
"They were trying to get rid of the Black Arts that are stored inside me. For a person to even be able to cast a single spell from the Arts, the Source must be Sealed within that person. I have it inside me, as well as any other person that uses it for their own deeds. It is very hard to control though, and if the Seal breaks, the Receiver will feel immense pain until the body can't take it anymore. They were trying to kill me, basically. Rid me of this world."

Josh almost stopped to a halt, but something in the back of his mind told him to keep walking and not get all ANGSTY again. Although it was really hard. His fists gripped tight as he kept walking, more so behind her so she wouldn't see his facial expression. He pondered running back there and killing them, it would be easy, like slicing through water. With a heavy silent sigh Josh figured he better not, he should control his anger and emotions and just roll with it. "I see..." He finally mumbled out cooling down a bit. At least it was over for now. "Can we just go back to the Inn before i turn around and commit a felony?" He said in a tone that was somewhat cold, like he was before, he just wasn't happy today...

Ebony glanced at Josh out of the corner of her eye and saw how tense he was at the moment. Her answer must have shaken him badly. She just silently nodded, and kept walking until they got to the point at the wall where they entered. She hoisted herself up, and stood on the edge, looking at the school once more, with almost sorrowful eyes, before jumping down.
She had fond memories of the school. She had friends, enemies, classes, projects, goals. But, just like everywhere else, everyone kept their distance from her, knowing she worked her hardest alone, in complete silence, only muttering to herself once or twice. Ebony always seemed to be alone in her life, no matter where she went, and the Academy was no exception. But with Josh things were slowly changing.

Josh just simply hoisted himself over the wall and back to the other side with with slight leap and a perfect landing. He looked back at Ebony, he could see the sadness in her eyes. He looked at the academy as well and looked back at her and tried to smile, even with the angsty thoughts running through his head and the wonderful graphic images he had about murdering those elders, put trying to put that aside he tried to cheer her up. "You've got more power than that school could've taught you to deal with..." He said looking away. "They kicked you out because they were afraid you would have a stronger power than they do....and you do...hence why they brought you here....They tried to rid the world of an even greater power than them....and they failed."

Ebony didn't reply right away. Sure, when she first enrolled the Board had thought it strange that a "streets" kid such as herself would be entering such a prestigious school, but as long as they had students and money they didn't really care at that moment. Ebony participated like any other normal student, doing her work and learning what she wanted to know. It wasn't until Bronwen caught her practicing the Arts one night that all hell broke loose for her. They got rid of her from school grounds, and she thought that was it. She was obviously wrong.
"Yeah...I guess."
Ebony quickly took one last glance at the majestic buildings before turning in the direction of the inn and walking off. No one else at the school knew what she could do at the time. She wondered how they would treat her knowing what kind of things she could do. How they would treat her knowing how powerful she really was. She quickly cast the thought out of her mind and kept walking, keeping her eyes downcast.

Josh was out of words. Anything he said probably wouldn't lighten her mood and he knew it. Might as well stay silent, and not babble on about stuff to try and make her feel better. Walking in silence was hard. But josh managed, looking at the Inn now he then finally looked at Ebony. "Im really sorry about what's happened today...It must not be easy...But yeah....Sorry." He said walking inside to his room. It was probably best to leave her be...for now that was. Maybe he could try and hang out with her now...a little at least, so long as she wasn't in a sad mood when he asked her. Josh laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling. Was all this even worth it?
((im thinking, josh offers to take ebony to dinner, not a date, and thats when he receives word of him having to leave))

Ebony didn't respond. She just simply closed her eyes and entered her room. She didn't feel like taking a nap at the moment so she quickly tooka hot bath, wiping away the last couple hours from her body and mind. She re-entered her room, drying her hair with a towel. She decided she would finish up the research report her superiors back at the facility would need soon. She pointed at the all the items she would need, and with the magic flowing in the room the needed items moved to their respective spots where Ebony would need them.
She threw the towel to the floor and sat down, turning on her desk light, and getting to work. But, as she got farther into her report, the more her mind wandered. Mostly to the events that had happened earlier. Mostly about Josh. Sure, she helped him and saved his life, but the way he had acted earlier made her mind fill up with questions and wonders.
She had noticed when she had fallen to the floor in pain that anger had overtaken him. Then when she had told him that the Elders had actually been trying to kill her, he had been overtaken with fury once again. Did he possibly...? Ebony quickly shook her head and forced herself to get back to work. It couldn't be. It just couldn't be.
(Okay, works for me :3)

Josh relaxed. His emotions all slipped away from him as he kept his eyes closed and tried to just let everything go for awhile. What happened today was done and over with, nothing could change that. Of course if anything else dangerous came from those...those monsters back at the academy, Josh would end them. PERNAMENTLY. Whether Ebony liked it or not. Speaking of which, Josh had waited awhile, maybe Ebony was feeling better by now? Maybe...that was the thing. Josh figured now was as good as ever to ask her to do something. So...with that, he leaped up from his bed and exited his room before he was standing infront of Ebony's door and he was having second thoughts.
With a sigh to himself, Josh knocked on Ebony's door. "Ebony?" He called almost quietly after a few taps to her door. "It's Josh...I wanted to talk to you for a minute..." No backing out now....as many monsters and wars as Josh has fought in and against...this was the hardest thing he'd ever done.

Ebony sat at her desk, concentrating, her hand practically flying writing down her report in a small book. She would then hand in the book to her superioirs who would then read over it, stamp their confirmation, and then write down her next research assignment in the same book. She was on a role at the moment her hand scribbling so fast it was practically a blur.
At first, she didn't hear Josh knock or say her name she was so focused, but she did hear his last sentence. Instead of stopping in the middle of her report she just quickly lifted her unused hand and made motion in the air. The door clicked and then swung open allowing Josh to enter easily. She quickly finished the concluding paragraph, put her pen down, closed the book shut, cracked her aching knuckles, and turned around to face Josh.
"Yeah?"

Was Ebony even awake? Josh wondered. After all that happened today, she could very well be asleep. So after he didn't get a response he started to turn but the door flew open and well apparently she didn hear him. Josh quietly walked in hesitantly as he looked over at Ebony. Maybe he caught her at a bad time? When she turned around to face him it sort of eased his nerves a bit. But it also meant she was listening now...anything he said would be heard loud and clear. "Um...Well. I was wondering if maybe...You'd like to go to dinner or something...My treat if that sweetens the deal, otherwise we both can pay for our own?" He didn't want it to seem like a DATE, but he wanted her to say yes...at least it would be a step closer towards his goal.

Ebony was shocked and surprised at the invitation. No one had ever asked her for dinner, well a couple people, but drunk, perverted old men didn't count. She quickly went over the question and response in her head before turning towards Josh once again.
"Sure, why not? Think of it as repaying me for all I did for you when we first met. Saving your life has already been repayed."
She shrugged her shoulders. It would seen a bit awkard at first, she knew that, but hopefully she could just relax and enjoy it.

Josh almost asked for a repeat as if he didnt hear her answer correctly. She said yes? That true shocked Josh, and the way his eyes and face lit up...was like a kid walking into a candy store for the first time in months. "Wow really? Alright!" He said almost a little too happy. This was great, another step closer towards his goal. Persistance did work he guessed. "You wanna go tonight? It's not too late to go ahead and go...I mean...unless you wanna go some other time thats cool too." Josh felt like he was babbling and talking way to fast, excitement did that too him, but oh well, he got a yes and that was that. He was happy.

Ebony quickly wondered if she should have regretted her answer. But, it was too late now seeing as how Josh was practically jumping off her walls. Were all boys like this? She didn't really want to know. All she did was just sit there, slightly grinning.
"Tonight's fine. I need a break from the inn's cooking anyway."
Ebony stood up, and motioned at her bag. It floated up, and items she needed bounded into the bag. It slung itself over her shoulder, and hung near her waist. She went to go grab her hat that sat on her bedpost. She had thrown it there when she had first entered her room earlier.
"We had better go now before everywhere gets too packed."

Josh was downright happy. Not CRAZY happy, but just happy. And it was even better they went tonight! Of course...if Josh had known she would say yes to both dinner and tonight, he would've dressed nicer. Of course his soldier uniform was good enough, it was his attire alot of the time, he had many different pairs so it worked. "Well then lets get rolling!" He said with a grin as they left now.
---speeding up a bit---
Josh sat in his chair, the place he picked was fairly nice but nothing too expensive, not that he couldnt afford it or anything but he wanted it not to feel like a date to her. That was the plan for this evening. They already had their drinks and what not and things were going smoothly. Much better than Josh had planned, but then again, Josh didn't even plan on going anywhere with Ebony. Josh was about to start up a conversation, something about fighting and magic and what not before a few guys walked up to his table, dressed almost the same as him just slightly different. Fellow soldiers from Delatorr. Josh had a look of utter horror across his face. This was bad news...it practically screamed horrible when the other soldiers looked at him and nodded some exchanging looks. "Josh...you gotta come home...too many soliders are dying...i hate to tell you this but...your sister is going to have to wait....please...we need your help back home..." One soldier begged
Josh looked across the table at Ebony before his face fell from shock and horror to sort of disappointed. He looked at the other soliders and nodded some before standing up. "Ebony...I've gotta go....I thank you again for all that you've done......Goodbye" He said. He didn't say anything along the lines of...See ya later...because this was...and could be goodbye...for good. With that the other soldiers hurried Josh out of the building and back to battle for the safety of Delatorr.

Ebony sat in silence as the soldiers came up to the table. She could see Josh's look of horror as the soldiers relayed that he was needed back home to fight. If she remembered correctly he was a Sergeant in the army. She didn't know if they were high in rank or not, at the moment she didn't really care. She didn't say anything when Josh stood up and left saying good-bye. Not until he was out of sight.
"Yeah...bye."
Ebony looked down for a moment before quickly standing up and grabbing her bag. She laid a few bills on the table before leaving the restaurant in a rush, wanting desperately just to lock herself up in the confines of her room. Unfortunately, Emilia was at the bar when she saw Ebony come in as a party of one.
"Hey, where's Josh?"
"Not now, Emilia."
Ebony ran up the stairs and entered her room. She threw her bag on the floor and her small jacket on the bed along with her hat. She went over to the window, opened it, kneeled down, and laid her head on her arms as the cool night breeze blew in, hitting her face, and the one lone tear that had somehow slipped down her cheek.
