Ebony slightly noticed the way Josh was looking around, but just brushed it off. It actually felt...nice sitting there with him just leisurely talking. She had never really done this with anyone. Only Emilia and the cook at the inn when Ebony had nothing better to do.
"Well...it was...quiet."
Ebony really didn't know what to say without giving anything away that she had actually fallen into a slight depression. She then figured she might as well tell him.
"Well...actually, I...I sorta...-" Ebony proceeded to pull up her legs and hold then against her, hiding the slight tinge of pink that had slid across her cheeks "-I...I couldn't stop thinking about you. No matter what I did, my mind always seemed to wander back to the subject of you, Josh."

Josh couldn't help but chuckle a bit as she said it was quiet. Of course it was quiet, Josh talked alot, and was basically the only noise around here anyway. "Im sure you enjoyed the peace and quiet for the time being." He smiled warmly as he looked at her again. But then...the shade of pink that crossed her cheeks made him smile even more. No matter what she did Josh could tell she was blushing, that was a good sign for him. Maybe...now was the time to express his feelings. Maybe.
Josh listened to her. "Well if it makes you feel any better, i thought about you too...on the battle field even...got me and my men in a tight spot but we survived obviously." He grinned, his green eyes seemed to sparkle as he then looked out at the water again. A good setting to start talking... "Ebony...I...need to tell you something...but i REALLY dont want you to slap me or push me off the dock...."

Ebony glanced over at who was now looking out at the ocean. As he continued to speak, she could feel her heart start to quicken, and a lump was forming in her throat, making it slightly harder to breathe.
"I-I'll try to restrain myself," she said trying to make it sound like it was just a small joke, but to her, it was jsut a jumble of words.
Could he possibly...?

Josh smirked and looked back at her with an evil like grin. "If you dare push me into the water im dragging you with me." He threatened playfully as he smiled normally now, no evil threats now. He sighed heavilly as he looked away again, this would be difficult no doubt. "I...want to tell you...something thats been...stuck in my head for a while now." He started feeling the butterflies in his stomach. Josh just spit it out already! he yelled in his head to himself. Why couldn't he just say it? Of anything why was this the most difficult?! "Ebony...I like you. I mean...I....I really really like you." He glanced at her to see if she would hit him or something. "I just want to know how you feel about me...and if you want...I'll leave just say the word..."

Ebony tunred her ehad trying her best to hide th shock that was clearly evident on her face. He...liked her? She was sarcastic, mean, a loner, and he liked her? Her!?
"I...I..."
The words stuck in her throat. The lump had now grown to a considerable size and she could barely speak. She turned her back towards Josh, trying to compose herself even a little. She was failing miserably. She could feel in her now that she had come to liking him as well. But, she knew there was no way that she could say that directly. It would be too hard.
"...Don't leave. Please, don't leave."

Uh oh. Shock on her face! Was that good or bad?! Josh was worried on the inside but kept his cool on the outside. What was she thinking!!!!!! Josh was going to explode if she didn't say something that made sence now besides 'I'. Well if Josh wasn't punched or pushed into the ocean all was good right? Besides the utter shock on her face seemed to be a good thing, especially after she told him not to leave. HA! Proof! She did like him didn't she? Josh just smiled, still. He placed his hand under her chin and made her look up at him. "Im not going anywhere..." He said before pulling his hand back and smiling even more.
"You're quite entertaining when you don't know what to say....i believe i've made you...speechless." He chuckled. More poking fun. Awesome. But that was Josh, you either take him how he is or get nothing. Josh was so amused by her reaction right now that he didn't even worry about what he had just blurted to her. It was an obvious win for him.

Ebony blushed crimson as Josh made her look at him. She was glad he was staying, but she was making a fool of herself which he then blatantly pointed out. She could feel the heat on her cheeks diminish some when a small scowl appeared on her face. She stood up, dusted herself off, and turned in the direction of the shore. It looked like she was about to leave, when she turned once more, now facing the ocean and Josh's back. She put one foot against his back, and before he could make a remark, she kicked him into the water.
"How's that for speechless entertainment?"

Josh didn't know what happened till he bobbed out of the water. He narrowed his eyes. So she did take the idea of kicking him into the water, hopefully she remembered the threat Josh himself had made. He grinned popped out of the water some and dragged her in as well. Josh did specifically say that he would drag her with him. Once he got her into the water a wide grin stretched across his face as he was satisfied now. "Very entertaining I'll say." He said finally pulling himself back onto the dock and reaching a hand out to help her out as well. Soaked but that was okay, even his gunblade would be fine, completly immune to water so no rusting.

Ebony let out a small yelp of surprise as Josh pulled her into the water along with him. She was soaked immediatly, and her hat came off along with her. She quickly grabbed Josh's hand and sat down on the dock as well. Luckily, she had placed her bag down father up the dock near the shore, so it didn't get wet. If it had, well Josh would have been a dead mean by now. She wringed out her hat, before taking off her jacket and wringing that out as well. Every other article of clothing clung to her from the water.
"Oh, yeah...Real entertainment."

Josh chuckled as they were now sitting on the dock once again. She was soaked, he was soaked. Well that was what water did. He gave her a smug smile. "Dont say i didn't warn you." He chuckled simply as he took off his sopping wet jacket, not that the tank he wore under was dry, it was sopping wet too. oh well. Josh smiled as he figured he had successfully won his real intial goal.
-------about a week later-----------
Josh sighed as he stared at the Inn one last time before leaving. A bag over his shoulder and a frown on his face. Why he had to leave so suddenly, it just hurt to leave. But he had no choice. Josh turned his back on the inn and stood on the sidewalk he wanted to say good-bye to Ebony before he departed, he was waiting for her to meet him out here. Hopefully she would be here soon, Josh didn't want to just disappear on her and leave her pissed at him. After all the hard work he had done to earn her friendship...plus some, he wouldn't destroy that. Ever. "Ebony...where are you?" He muttered to himself quietly.

Ebony ran, no, sprinted down the street, dodging people from right to left. Some even stopped to stare at the young girl. She ahd been working when one of the other employees came in telling her Emilia had called saying that "some Josh boy is leaving and you need to get done to the Sanctuary Inn." She had just stared at the older woman before bolting from her desk, not even bothering to grab her bag. She could get it later.
Ebony finally came into view of the inn, and saw Josh standing there waiting. Waiting for her. She willed her legs to go jsut a bit faster, before stopping in front of him, bending over to catch her breath.
"I...got here...as fast as I...could."

Josh sighed and in a blink there was Ebony as she raced down the street and stopped heaving for breaths. "Wow...nice timing." Josh grinned some. "Im sorry about you having to leave work and stuff, but my deadline for a "break" has been...well cut short." Josh shrugged looking at Ebony with his grin still going. "I'll be heading off now, i just wanted to say goodbye to you." His cheeks flushed a light pink color barely noticeable but still. Once Ebony had caught her breath Josh locked eyes with her. He leaned close to her and stared at her, right in the eyes before dropping his bag to the ground. "Ill come back soon...you wont even have time to miss me..." He said before he wrapped his arms around her into a hug as he whispered in her ear. "You're just the girl i was looking for....and I'll miss you...and thankyou for not throwing me off a cliff."
After josh was done hugging her he pulled back with a grin, he grabbed his bag and hoisted it over his shoulder again before he started to turn away, but stopped and turned back like he had forgotten something. "I almost forgot something..." He said before he leaned in without any warning and kissed Ebony. Thats right, he kissed her and once he pulled back he put his free hand in his pocket, turned and whistled. "See ya around Ebony." Josh called from his stride as he walked through a self made portal off to a new world...

"It's fine, really."
Ebony listened quietly as Josh explained his reasoning for leaving so urgently. And, when he embraced her, she coudn't help but slide her arms around him as well, hugging him back. She smiled slightly at his comment about the cliff, finally realizing how far they had come. But, what really shocked her...was the kiss. She just stood there, as he pulled back and left, while whistling.
She stood there in a daze for a few seconds before going back to the facility to grab her bag, and go back ot the inn, all still while she was in her daze. She entered her room, and fell down onto her bed, staring at the ceiling. And, then she started to giggle like a high school girl getting asked out on her first date, until she was practically roaring with laughter. Tears streamed down her face from both happiness and relief. Because she knew Josh had changed her. It was clearly evident just by looking at her. She finally stopped, and looked up at the ceiling once more, beaming. She had never laughed like that in her whole life. And she was glad she did.
