Zack
The feeling of rushing wind was on his face, he could hear nothing except the sound of his own blood in his veins. He felt an odd sensation, like he was falling, he struggled, but to no avail. He kept plummeting though he couldn’t see a thing. What was happening?! Suddenly he connected with solid ground and the breath was knocked out of him. Opening his eyes, he found himself laying on his back, his eyes saw the blueness of the sky above him. Grunting, he lifted a hand to his head and groaned again, and then suddenly it hit him. “Wha….?!” His eyes got larger as he looked at his own hand. What…?! How…?! Where…?! Mako blue eyes gazed around him, Was he…back…? Was he alive? “I can’t…be alive!! Can I…?” rolling over he pushed himself to his knees , glancing around. He was in Midgar…he would know the city anywhere!
Glancing down, he oddly enough didn’t see any bullet holes in his SOLDIER outfit. He raised his eyebrows as he shook his head and closed his eyes .When I open them I won’t be here! I can’t be here…I’m not alive! I died years ago… and then intense blue eyes opened once again. It was still the same….he was back on Gaia…but how could that be possible? Pulling off his black gloves he pinched himself, wrinkling his brow when he felt it. So he rose up to his full height, standing up. He scratched his head as he looked around, not quite sure why he was back. Aerith…she must have figured out a way…? His heart beat fast as he wondered if his being back meant that she could be back as well. He put his hands on his waist and shifted his weight to look around. Something crinkled in his pocket, and raising a brow he put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a faded letter, but all the words were still distinguishable.
It was Aerith’s letter, written to him so long ago. ‘I have twenty three tiny little wishes…but you probably won’t remember, so I’ve put them all into one…I want to spend more time with you.’ He blinked as he read the words, before folding it back up and putting it in his pocket. “Oh Aerith! You have to wait for me!” Glancing around, he immediately felt for his sword, furrowing his brow when he didn’t feel it hanging there on his back. He felt naked without it, and though he could easily defend himself without it, he still wished he had it. “Where….? Cloud!” he remembered giving it to Cloud and nodded…now to find Cloud! He didn’t know where he would be, so he decided to go to the one place he knew very well, Aerith’s church.
Midgar seemed to be laid out the same way, although it seemed to be destroyed. He didn’t see any people, the streets were deserted. He got an eerie feeling…what had happened to Midgar anyway? Glancing over his shoulder, he once again wished he had his sword. He made his way from memory to where Sector 5 had previously been located. He spied the church, even surrounded by devastation it stood standing. He saw that the doors were closed, the church had gone downhill, In fact it looked a lot worse then it had even when he was alive. Even still, walking up the concrete steps, he lovingly rubbed his hand on the pillars. Pushing open the door carefully, he squeezed inside and took in a deep sigh. Walking slowly down the isle he noticed the bright yellow flowers were still growing and thriving. He smiled but went around them, careful not to step on any. And then something caught his eye, Shiny and large, his Buster Sword leaned against the wall!
Happiness radiated from his face as he made his way towards it and picked it up. Rubbing it a few times with his hand, he twirled it before settling it on his back. Sighing a bit, he shook his head and laughed, relieved that he was in a familiar place, and now he had the weight of his precious sword on his back. Turning his head, he almost thought he would find Aerith walking toward him…but no such luck. So walking back out Zack turned and Shut the door carefully, taking one more look…would he ever find her again…? |

Making his regular routine Cloud was in Ol' Midgar where Aerith's Church was still standing. Cloud always went there on Sundays. To pay his fallen friends his respects. He of course told Tifa were he was going. So she would not worry about him. Cloud pulled up to the church and smiled that it was still standing. He was just glad that it had not completely fallen yet. Cloud rubbed the sweat off his fore head as he headed inside the entrance up the crumbling steps....He also kept the flowers blooming for Aerith. He had a bit of gardening to do today as well....He was not going to be excepted to see any one he knew inside. He was not expecting any one really! No one came here any more....Tifa brought Denzel and Marlene here every once in a while but that was the only other people that ever came here...And him of course.
Cloud continued to walk inside the church and wouldn't have saw his best friend if he hadn't looked up..."Z...Zack?" He asked as he looked up and saw an imagine of him! Was Cloud day dreaming again? Or was he asleep and dreaming....? He didn't know for sure...His own breath became wheezy slightly....He was seeing things again. He had to be. First Sephiroth now Zack....? What was going on in the Life Stream...? Cloud walked up to Zack and poked his shoulder slightly to make sure Zack was not a ghost....He then looked directly into Zack's eyes then...Man, Tifa would not believe this! "It is you!" Cloud said as he looked into those eyes of his.....Cloud was happier now than he has ever been! He even embarrassed his friend with a hug!
"I've gotta be dreaming! Are you really here? Really you.....?" He asked as he caught himself hugging Zack and let go of him then!

::...The Puppy...:: [/color][/u] Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. Zack suddenly heard his name being called, but it was somewhat of a question rather then a statement. Turning his head, his blue eyes searched for a moment before settling on a blonde haired spiky man dressed in all black. A smile split his face as he recognized his best friend. “Cloud!” He spoke and turned around from looking at the flowers. He quickly walked toward Cloud, and when Cloud poked him in the shoulder he just laughed outright. “I’m alive Cloud!” He saw that Cloud was looking right into his eyes, with Zack’s own being the same mako blue as his own. His own were a SOLDIER trademark, although being exposed to lots of mako would give you the eyes. And then Cloud hugged him and he chuckled and hugged Cloud back. Zack was surprised that Cloud would hug him, he just hadn’t ever really been the hug type, but he was glad that his friend had hugged him, or even been happy that he was alive. “what’s got into you man?” He said teasingly, unable to help teasing his best friend about him hugging him. He ruffled Cloud’s hair with his hand and grinned, his blue eyes sparkling with happiness. It was great that the first person he had seen was Cloud Strife, his best friend. He shook his head, “Nope, this time I’m pretty sure you aren’t dreaming…I’m almost one hundred percent sure I’m here alive!” And then Cloud let go of him and he just shook his head, “Take some pills to make you this happy?” Taking a deep breath, the buster sword on his back, air in his lunges and his best before him made him feel pretty damn good. “Its good to be back!”

“Cloud!” “I’m alive Cloud!” “what’s got into you man?” “Nope, this time I’m pretty sure you aren’t dreaming…I’m almost one hundred percent sure I’m here alive!” “Take some pills to make you this happy?” “Its good to be back!”
Cloud realized he was acting out of the norm for Zack....So he let go of the hug in a heart beat! And just looked down...Embarrassed....But then Zack asked him what's gotten him all happy? Many reasons actually....Cause it was only a few days before he realized who his true love was.....Tifa. And seeing Aerith again! And now Zack! So yeah many reasons he was happy!
"Many reasons for my change in emotion I guess....You for one....Tifa another and you're not gonna believe this but your girl friend, Aerith is back as well....I saw her a few days ago.....She's at the bar waiting for you.....I told her that you would come here first....And as for the pill thing....Nah I'm not on any thing....Just happy I guess....My happiness shows more than my worry look...." Cloud took his left arm to his back and pulled up his glove to hide his brand from Zack....And Cloud could see the happiness in his friends eyes as he looked up.....
"By the way, I think this belongs to you...." Cloud walked over and pulled out Zack's Buster Sword from where Cloud had placed it....And handed it back to his friend.....Cloud could only hope that Zack would never have to use it again....But you never know right....? "I took good care of it....Polished it all the time...When ever I wanted to be alone I'd come here and talk aloud....Just to you and Aerith....Cause I knew that you and her spent a lot of time here...So how good does it feel to be back?"
Cloud wanted to tell his best friend now what has happened to him....It was still puzzling to Cloud.....Since he had not known about the other world of Cocoon....Until Yazoo took him there and made him what he was now....A L'Cie....Why was Cloud always the one to be punished for things like this....? And there was no way in hell that Cloud was going to flat out and tell Zack his focus.....Cloud knew how Zack was.....This would have to be a secret.....Tifa knew and so did Aerith.....Cloud would have to tell them not to say a word....

::...The Puppy...:: [/color][/u] Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. Zack liked Cloud being happy, his best friend meant a lot to him, and what friend didn’t want his friend to be happy? None that were worth having as friends that was for sure. He just smiled as Cloud’s eyes were lit up and he smiled when Cloud mentioned that he was one reason why he was happy. “Aww man I feel honored!” And then his mouth dropped open in surprise… ”Aerith!? Is…she’s here!? You saw her?” And then he explained that she was at the bar and he almost took off right then and there for the bar. He realized however, that he didn’t have any idea where the bar was…so he would probably just get lost anyway. “I…can’t wait to talk to her!”
“I…actually didn’t know if I would ever see her again, so I’m thrilled that I’ll get to see her. to talk to her!” To touch her... he added in his mind. But then he realized that Cloud had mentioned Tifa. Giving him a sly look, Zack smirked some. “Tifa! Are things going pretty good between you guys?” Pushing Cloud’s arm lightly he grinned, hoping that they were doing good. The last time he had talked to Cloud about it he was so worried that she wouldn’t like him that he hadn’t even talked to her. He smiled when he saw his sword…that meant a lot to him, and is symbolized a lot, his honor, his dreams. He could see the shine from the metal, took a deep breath and reached out to take it from Cloud’s hands. It felt so good to grasp the sword…the weight, the metal, the shine, all to familiar to him. It had been to long…and so twirling the sword around he settled it on his back and let out a little sigh. He loved the feel of it on his back, now that he had it he didn’t feel naked. Taking in a deep breath and putting a hand on Cloud’s shoulder, he smiled genuinely, “You know what? Its probably the best feeling in the world to be back. Maybe this time things won’t be so crazy! And…I can tell some people things that are long overdue…” He would always be there for Cloud, never in his life would he abandon the one friend who had been there through it all, even if he had been uncurious. He was a little deep in thought so he didn’t notice Cloud putting his arm behind his back and covering up his hand more. He would feel hurt if he knew that Cloud was hiding something from him, but he didn’t know, so he didn’t think anything amiss. “Hey Cloud…why is…Midgar leveled?” |

”Aerith!? Is…she’s here!? You saw her?”
"Yeah...I saw her...And hugged her. You should see her buddy...She really misses you....But I know you two will meet soon...." Damn right they would! Cloud knew what Zack wanted more than any thing right now....Was to be with Aerith....“I…can’t wait to talk to her!” Cloud gave a smile....And just knew the feelings that Zack was having right now.....“I…actually didn’t know if I would ever see her again, so I’m thrilled that I’ll get to see her. to talk to her!” "I know the feeling...." Cloud replied as he placed a hand on his friends shoulder.....
“Tifa! Are things going pretty good between you guys?” "Just peachy....We are able to talk now....I can't get over how many times we've spend just talking....Zack, I'm in love with her...." He finally revealed that piece of news....
“You know what? Its probably the best feeling in the world to be back. Maybe this time things won’t be so crazy! And…I can tell some people things that are long overdue…” "Yeah....Zack, I can't tell you.....Forgive....me" Cloud was trying so hard to keep his secret a secret.....He just heard from his friend that maybe things would not be crazy like last time....Well, they would get a lot worse.....But Cloud simply nodded and crossed his arms across his chest....
“Hey Cloud…why is…Midgar leveled?” Cloud was looking down when he asked that and looked back up...How could he answer that question....? "Shin-Ra did most of it....But a Calamity did the rest.....I led a group called AVALANCHE in the day of JENOVA....Look, you don't really need to know all that sorrow and loss do you?" Cloud asked as he was trying his best to cover his left wrist with his other hand....

Probably, she was so beautiful he couldn’t wait to see her. “She misses me? I miss her too!” He put his hand on Cloud’s shoulder. “I’d better get to see her soon or I’ll go crazy!” When Cloud mentioned that he knew the feeling Zack nodded, his face serious and Cloud put a hand on his shoulder, “Well we won’t have that feeling anymore!” He smiled and then went to hug Cloud when he admitted that he loved Tifa. “I’m so happy for you!!!” He squished Cloud in a hug, not caring if he was embarrassing Cloud. “I never thought those words would come out of your mouth! I’m so glad though!!” He noticed that Cloud seemed to be quiet as he nodded, so he cocked his head, but wasn’t sure what would even be wrong. Later Aerith would make him think more about it, but right now he just though Cloud was thinking about something. And ten Cloud described why Midgar was leveled. He nodded, glad that he knew, but then Cloud asked if he needed to know. Giving him a shaper look he wondered why Cloud wouldn’t want to talk to him about it. “Um…well I guess your right, I don’t really need to know, just wondering…” He said slowly and carefully, but he glanced at him then, Why would Cloud not want to talk about it so much…? He shrugged to himself, but dropped the subject entirely. “Its so good to be back!” He said again before laughing, “But I’ve said that quite a bit!” |

I’ve missed you so much!” Cloud was not feeling too hot right now. And it was because of his brand to. But he had to hide it from his best friend. He was worried that Zack would find out sooner than anticipated. Cloud was trying his best. But he knew Zack would find out eventually. Cloud knew Aerith would probably tell Zack everything… ”I wanted you here so many times…you’ve helped so many times. How am I gonna pay you back for everything? I know! You can stay at the bar with me and Tifa until you get back on your feet….I knew about what happened with the Life Stream…I should’ve never doubted that you would make your great escape….But I’m glad you did!”Cloud turned away from Zack then and looked down as he wiped away sweat on his fore head….It was weird that this brand was making him sick some times. It was just his emotions…He couldn’t stop showing emotion though. Cloud was the king of emotions when it came to them…And he even when Sephiroth told him other wise was able to win every time! And show Sephiroth off! That that man could not take any thing away from him now! Even dead friends! But still, Cloud knew for once that it was not Sephiroth’s fault that gave him this mark…But still Cloud hated Sephiroth with a hard core passion! And hoped that the man would steer clear of him and Tifa and the rest of his friends….Especially Zack! After he wiped his fore head, Cloud realized that it would be hot in this church since it was summer..and that there had not been any air conditioning installed…Cloud was planning on re-modeling this whole place for his and Tifa’s wedding…

::...The Puppy...:: [/color][/u] Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. Zack laughed and nodded, “You know what buddy? I missed you to!!!” He wished that he hadn’t been killed in the first place. That would have been better all the way around, but as he was alive again he couldn’t complain at all. How he had come back he did not know, but something made him think that it was for a purpose. It was as if for some reason that memory was blocked out…now why would that be? He wished more then ever he could talk to Aerith immediately, but he would have to wait for a bit. Aerith would know, of that he was sure. She was so intelligent, plus the planet spoke to her since she was an Ancient. He really hated having a blocked memory, so digging deeper he tried to find out what It was. And then he had an epiphany. His blue eyes seemingly glazed over as it happened. A memory really, of…Yazoo, while he had still been in the lifestream. He remembered he and Aerith battling to make him stay in the lifestream and not come back, but hey had failed. The next thing he remembered after that was that feeling of falling and landing here in Midgar. Coming back out of his memory he gasped slightly and his hand went up and pressed against his forehead. Did…that have something to do with it? He felt like it did…but why? And then suddenly Cloud stated that he had wanted him to be there many times. “I’m glad you missed me bud!” He said with a smile, but his mind was still on that memory while he had been in the lifestream. What was it’s significance? He could ask Aerith that too, because he felt he should ask her, and not Cloud. He smiled, “Cloud don’t worry about paying me back! You helped me too, just by letting me talk when I had anger at ShinRa.” He cocked his head when Cloud mentioned that he would let him live at the Seventh Heaven. He grinned, “Oh thanks man! I…don’t exactly know where else I was going to go…something tells me ShinRa wouldn’t let me bunk out there…besides I’d rather not have anything to do with them anyway. I guess what I’m saying is that I appreciate you letting me stay with you!”

You helped me too, just by letting me talk when I had anger at ShinRa.” “Oh thanks man! I…don’t exactly know where else I was going to go…something tells me ShinRa wouldn’t let me bunk out there…besides I’d rather not have anything to do with them anyway. I guess what I’m saying is that I appreciate you letting me stay with you!” Cloud gave his friend a big smile then. It was as though that smile swept away his own inner pain from the brand on his wrist. But then he saw that Zack had blacked out for a second there. He was wondering what could be bothering him..But should he even ask? It was as though now everything was chaning between their friend ship. Cloud was scared to tell Zack everything. ”Zack…It’s nothing. Really. You should have a place to stay. And there’s no way in hell you are staying at SHINRA! Even if they did let you go back to them…Remember what you said about that job thing…? Well, I sorta took up that offer. And made a special delivery service…Strife Deliveries…You name it we deliver it…” Cloud sorta laughed at that. Tifa came up with the slogan. Just like her famous saying…’Dilly Dally Shilly Shally..’ Always made him listen when every she said that to him….. ”There is some thing you need to know though…” Cloud got all serious. And was still looking Zack in the eyes…But when he saw Zack placed a hand on his fore head Cloud got concerned… ”Hey…You okay man?” He replaced his hand back on Zack’s shoulder…He knew his friend must have been extremely hungry…And it would take a while to get back to the bar. So Cloud thought that take out would be best right now… ”I can get us some food. What would you like…? It’s a special day…We can have what ever we want! Just say it…And I can get it…By the way Zack….Would be okay if I asked you to be my best man?” That’s what he wanted to ask him before he saw Zack place his hand on his fore head….

There’s no way I’m going back there ever again! I think I’ll take my own advice and stay away.” He said with a bit of a chuckle. He cocked his head when he mentioned the job thing. “No way really!? That’s great!!” He said with enthusiasm. It seemed like everything was going great for Cloud, little did he know that in a few hours he would learn that Cloud was in one of the worst states he could ever be in…he was a l’cie. Cloud suddenly started to tell him that he needed to know something and he got so serious that Zack was scared for a moment. And that was when the memory of Yazoo hit him. He was perspiring, and then he had a headache as it all seemed to resurface to him, but it wasn’t anything to major. Maybe he was just having a brain overload. Cloud asked if he was alright and he just nodded, “Yeah I’m fine…just had a…well I guess I remembered something from the lifestream, but it…isn’t important really.” He truly didn’t know if it was important or not, so until he could talk to Aerith about it he was just gonna keep his mouth shut, something he didn’t do often. Food sounded great! He was starving now that he remembered about it. “Well…Anything would be great! Your right I’m starving! I don’t know what is good or even where to go anymore. Anything cheap is great!” he said with a little laugh. But then the next thing he knew Cloud was asking him to be his…best man?!?! His jaw dropped and his eyes got large. “CLOUD!!” He exclaimed but his face radiated happiness. “Holy Crap you sly dog! Of course I’d be your best man, I’d be so honored! But just…!! Holy…I’m so glad for you man!!” He said and he almost pounced on Cloud to give him a hug and pretend to give him a noogy. “Congrats man!!!” Giving him a mischievous look he chuckled, “And maybe in a few years I’ll be uncle Zack hmmm?!” He said and shook Cloud’s shoulder a bit. |

It was true though what he had just said…“But your right, I wouldn’t want to stay with ShinRa anyway. There’s no way I’m going back there ever again! That’s great!!” ”It’s just a small business…Nothing special…But it brings in the gil…”“Yeah I’m fine…just had a…well I guess I remembered something from the lifestream, but it…isn’t important really.” “Well…Anything would be great! Your right I’m starving! I don’t know what is good or even where to go anymore. Anything cheap is great!” ”Man! You are in luck! I know the perfect place that cooks chicken meals…It just opened up last year…Come on….I’m buying…” Of course he was buying….Zack would have no money on him. But Cloud was not complaining. This was his best friend that just came back to life! And wound up in the most obvious place! Here at Aerith’s Church….Cloud was just amazed at how well Zack looked…No bullet holes no bloody mess….That was the way Cloud left his friend last he saw him… “CLOUD!!” Cloud actually jumped a little with that shouted! He had to so get used to his over energetic out going friend again! Cloud just got used to being the quiet one! ((LOL))….. “Holy Crap you sly dog! Of course I’d be your best man, I’d be so honored! But just…!! Holy…I’m so glad for you man!!” Cloud felt his cheek warm up and looked down. “Congrats man!!!” “And maybe in a few years I’ll be uncle Zack hmmm?!” Uncle Zack?…Hmm….Zack was thinking way ahead of things! Cloud had yet to even get Tifa a ring! And the thought of having kids never entered Cloud’s mind….Considering that what he was now….He just never brought it up to Tifa….What was the opint of having kids if your father would never be there for you….? ”Yeah! I guess you can say that..But I’m glad you agree….This is gonna get some time to getting used to…You always carried me around the last few days of your life wih me…I’m just…In awe man…I can’t believe you’re here!” Cloud then scratched the back of his own head and looked back up as he started to the entrance of the church..He was ready to make things great for Zack…Still, Cloud had no idea why Zack was back…And that it was probably for to keep Cloud sane until the end happened…

Zack shook his head stubbornly, “No, I bet its great, you’ve got your own schedule and don’t have to do the same thing every day and you can spend time with Tifa if you want…sounds great I’m envious!” He said, but in a happy way, some day he would have that, and after he found Aerith…he would have someone to share it with just like Cloud did. Maybe all the bad things that had happened before had always meant to lead up to such a good ending, although if he knew at this point, or remembered, that Cloud was a l’cie he might think the good ending not so good. He raised his eyebrow, before shaking his head and laughing, “Ok ok sounds great, I’ll be able to repay the favor some day!” With that he slapped Cloud gently on his shoulder before resting his hand there, he was embarrassed that he had no money, although he did miraculously have his wallet still with him, it would seem like he had everything he had at the time he died. He hadn’t had all that much money with him at the end though, so he still didn’t have much of anything. He didn’t care if he was embarrassing Cloud, he was so excited that Cloud and Tifa were getting married…it was the best thing for Cloud. He couldn’t believe it, but he was so happy too. He wouldn’t have changed it. “I never would have just left you man…bro’s come first right?” he said with a smile on his face, before glancing around, it felt…well overwhelming when he thought about it. Zack smiled at Cloud, “Yeah, always thought you were SOLDIER material, before things got crazy I thought we’d be working together if you applied…but then everything went wrong, Sephiroth, Angeal, Genesis…if that hadn’t of happened you’d be a SOLDIER 1st class, got the guts, power and brains for it that’s for sure. Besides you’re the only one alive that can defeat Sephiroth...” Even with the added power he had obtained from the lifestream, would he be able to fight Sephiroth. He had held his own for quite some time before, but he had failed last time. He didn’t let that get him down, and if Sephiroth was before him, with the knowledge that he wouldn’t win he would still fight him anyway. That’s just the kind of guy he was. He smiled, “I think in your own way you thanked me, I knew. Besides, you kept me going through all that, gave me the motivation to keep fighting, even if I didn’t know what to do anymore…” When Cloud asked if he would hate him he cocked his head and gave him a funny look, waiting for him to finish his sentence, but he trailed off. He shrugged, “I don’t think anything you could ever do would make me hate you, and I’m not a hating sort of guy, especially to my best friend!” But he gave him another look, “But out of curiosity…why do you think I would hate you?” He would drop it if Cloud didn’t want him to push it, but he did want to know what was on his mind. Cloud didn’t seem all that much better about talking about what he was going through. |
