Josh smirked and walked out holding the books in his hands and opening his own room door quickly so the papers and whatnot wouldn't fall out. Time to get to work. "This'll be fun." He mumbled shutting the door behind him with his foot and plopping all the items on his bed and spreading them out. Where to begin? Josh picked up a book, leaned back against the headboard of his bead and began to read.
A few hours in Josh had a few books down and a few papers read, but now, he was out like a light. A book laying across his chest and the silent sounds of snores filling the room as he laid uncomfortably against the headboard sleeping. Hopefully he learned enough to start tomorrow, if not, he'd pretend he read it all and just go along with it. Morning came sooner than he thought, of course he slept through most of it waking up at about 10:30 A.M. He practically spazzed rolling out of the bed realizing he fell asleep on his...homework. "What!" He yelled to himself scrambling around grabbing the papers and books and rushing out of his room before knocking on Ebony's door to see if she was there...

Ebony sat at her desk in her room, books and materials sprawled across the area, and some even floating around above her head. Just because she researched, didn't mean she always had to be at her office. That was just where all her books were.
She reached up and turned a couple of pages, scribbling down some snipbits of information down on some pieces of paper. She looked behind her shoulder, to check something on another book, when she heard knocking on door. Not loosing concentration on the items floating around, she stood up and went to the door. She opened it, eyeing the disheveled Josh, carrying the books and papers she had given him just last night.
"Yes?"

Josh was probably about to fall over, still dazed from being asleep and what not. "I...Got them all read." He said leaning against the doorway holding the papers that were an utter mess in his hands. "Oh and Good morning." He said with a smile a slight yawn. He was drained. "I think im going to grab some breakfast...would you care to join me?" He asked trying to wake up somemore and be polite. Today would be full if they were going to work on magic later, and Josh predicted he'd be tired later. "I mean...unless you got something else to do..." He shrugged his shoulders a bit standing up straight and organizing the papers and books into a neat pile in his arms.
(sorry for the short crap-ness they will get better. i promise)

Ebony just shook her head, as Josh leaned against the doorframe. It was obvious he was still tired, especially since he was still yawning.
"Morning, and no thanks. I've already had some breakfast, and I still have some work to do."
She motioned to the desk that still had books scattered and floating around.
"But, you should eat something, and get ready. It'll most likely be a long day for you if you're not very good in the ways of magic. Once I'm done, we can head out to the mansion."
She reached over and took the stack of supplies that Josh had borrowed. She threw it in the direction of the desk, and nodded with satisfaction as they flew into the, now magically, open drawers neatly.

Eh that was okay. Josh could eat by himself, besides, he was probably gonna eat fast and get cleaned up and what not. Prepare for the long day ahead of him. So this was no big deal, maybe some other time. He was just anticipating the tireness he would feel later. "Okay thats fine. Sounds good. I'll go grab something real quick." He said rubbing the back of his head as he watched her magic skills. So amazing she was. Very powerful. She probably had Geoff running scared right now, thats probably why he hasn't shown his face since yesterday afternoon when he was mauled by Abyss.
The memory gave Josh a chuckle from time to time, but he couldn't help but think back on the old friend he used to bond and hang out with. It was sad the way some people turned for the worst, like Geoff for instance. Why would someone like him, who practically had it all, throw it all away? Josh had some role in all that seeing as he banished the guy, but it made him realize how well he had it now. A great family, Ebony, everything. He wasn't going to risk it, or lose it. "I'll meet you at the mansion? Or do you want me to come back here later? say...a hour or so?" Josh shrugged a bit thinking either would work, better let her decide, she was after all...the teacher.

"Come back up here, and we can head out together. That would make it easier. So I'll see ya later."
Ebony closed her door, and went back to her desk, but she didn't get back to work right away. She just sat down, and thought. About Josh. And all the things he was going through. A civil war, looking for his sister, his old mentor coming to kill him, and then there was her. Ebony didn't really want to realize it, but she had caused some of his problems. Like him dealing with her problems.
Ebony leaned down, and put her head in her hands. If he hadn't met her, he probably wouldn't have to come back. But now, that she thought about it, she had fixed some of his problems. Like keeping him alive when he got the virus from his home world, and saving his butt from Geoff earlier with her Black Magic. Ebony grinned and just wondered what would have happened if she didn't stop those PSICOM soldiers when she did at the very beginning.

"See ya later then" Josh mumbled turning around and heading back to his own room to get cleaned up. He walked inside and went into the bathroom to brush out his messy, fluffy white hair and all that other crap. He stared into the mirror. God he looked so tired, but then again, even if he were at home he was always tired. Always having things to do. Being in the army took alot of energy, and well being here and trying to keep up with the army, the search, geoff, and ebony, well it was a real task that was for sure. "What have I gotten myself into?" Josh asked himself in the mirror as he took out a brush and styled his hair barely and brushed his teeth.
After changing and getting ready Josh started to wonder, what if Fate hadn't led him here to Cocoon? To Ebony was more like it, or what if she hadn't saved him that first day from those stupid paranoid PSICOM soldiers? Seems Ebony and Josh were thinking the same thing. Weird as it was, Josh couldn't help but think about the possibilities. Fate was weird like that, it led you on a course, whether it be bad or good it had its reasons. Hopefully, this route Josh was on, was a good one, sure a few obstacles would get in the way, but that was life in general.
Out of the Inn and off for breakfast, Josh strolled into a cute little diner, he'd have to bring Ebony here sometime for breakfast, it was really nice. Of course her living here, she might've already been here before. Oh well. It was still a nice tought. After Josh ordered he piled into his food like he hadn't eaten for days, he was hungry and figured this would be his only meal for the day, he'd probably be too tired to move to even get food later. So there he went, snarfing his food, paying and rushing out of that diner. Frankly he was excited to get started on this magic stuff.
As fast as time seemed to move, Josh had been gone about an hour, so once he returned to the inn, ran up the stairs and knocked on Ebony's door, he was awake and ready to get started. "Ebony? You ready to get started?"

Ebony, some how, some way, had actually fallen asleep at her desk. Her head was tucked neatly against her arms, as her cheek rested against the pages of books and papers scattered across the top. And also, some how, the books around her were still floating away, as if nothing was going on. Though, Ebony had pretty much had perfected the practice of doing magic in her sleep...literally.
However, her short little nap was ended abruptly when knocking and a certain voice rang outside her door. Hey eyes fluttered open before she lifted her head quickly, her eyes now wide with surprise...as she proceeded to lose concentration. The books fell as one, and one such book proceeded to fall on Ebony's head.
"Ow! Dam- Woah!"
Proceeding the hit to her head, she rushed backwars, tipping the chair, and then as gravity set into motion, she fell to the floor with a loud "THUD!" She just layed there, dazed.
"...Come in..."

Josh heard some sounds from inside that didn't sound to lovely. What...was she doing in there? Oh well, she gave him permission to enter and when he did his eyes cut to the floor where Ebony was laying. He raised an eyebrow as he stared down at her. So thats what the sound was, that and a few books scattered around. Must've been some tough reading she was doing...or something. "Did you have a nice trip there Ebony?" Josh said cocking his head to the side like a puppy as a smile emerged onto his face. A little humor was okay, but that was to be expected from him.
Josh walked over and helped Ebony to her feet. "You okay? I heard the fall...I think...maybe you should stick to more light reading..." he shrugged still trying with the unintentional humor. Josh figured he'd better drop it...she'd hear about it later probably anyway. "So I've had breakfast and I'm ready to go...You got all you need completed? Im quite anxious to get started...actually I'd call it more worried about Geoff's next grand appearance..."

"Oh, just shut up," Ebony said as Josh walked in, and helped her. She dusted herself, and went to go pick up the chair. She eyed the same mess of books and papers that were on her floor. It didn't look like anything was ripped or bent. "I'll clean that up later."
Ebony leaned over and pick up her hat, and dusted it off a bit before placing it back on her head where it belonged. She grabbed her messenger bag and slung it over her head so that it leaned nicely against her waist. Ebony pushed past Josh, and out into the hallway before turning back around to face him.
"Come on, let's go. The day's a wastin'."

So Josh was being pushed out the door and into the hall. Was she in a hurry? Maybe, or maybe there was a lot to cover today. Hopefully Josh would be okay today, since he didn't get absolutely EVERYTHING read last night seeing as he fell asleep before he could finish. "Okay okay, lets go..." He said walking down the stairs and taking in a deep breath. He'd had soldier and physical training...but magic...was not a strong point for him. This would be worse than boot camp for him. Joy.
"Ebony...thank you for this by the way. I owe you so much already." He said grinning to himself. There had to be something he could do to make it all up to her. Maybe a vacation was in need...not right now but soon, once this whole Geoff thing was sorted out and done with. Then maybe Josh could take Ebony away to someplace...quiet and less chaotic with danger around every corner?

"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
Ebony walked dwon the streets towards the mansion. Slowly, the shops were starting to get more distant from each other, and trees were popping up more.
"Yeah, well...Fal'Cie knows you need it. Besides, how many times have I told you I don't need to be repayed. That's only for when the moment calls for it."
Finally, the two had reached the Mansion. Ebony set down her bag, hat, and small jacket, and rolled up her long sleeves. She was prepared for this to be a LONG session.
"Okay. Show me what you can do so far."

Out at the mansion now. Josh was starting to feel a little pathetic and nervous. He had no magic skills what so ever, except for his good reign on the power of thunder. "Uh. Remember that magic I did against Geoff? Well...thats pretty much all I can do." Josh shrugged looking the other way before taking off his soldier jacket and tossing it aside, if this was going to be a long day, he didn't want to get over heated, so a beater was okay. Josh stretched his arms out and looked over at Ebony. "But I'll show you again anyway." He looked around, striking a tree probably wasn't the best idea seeing as the power was lightning. Lightning and trees create fire, and he didn't know any water magic, so...plan B.
Josh looked at a boulder about 8 feet ahead of him. He concentrated hard and felt the electricy begin to harness itself as he threw his hand out towards the rock the magic of a brief cast of Thundara struck the stone. Josh didn't use Thundaga much seeing as it was rather difficult for someone like him, and it was powerful. "Thats pretty much it. I also have the ability to due a few curing casts...but...I haven't tried really." Time to lighten the mood a bit. "Think there's any hope for me coach?" He chuckled.

Ebony watched Josh carefully as he cast his Thundaga. And for lack of a better term, he was horrible. Utterly pitiful. It took him an agonizingly long time just to get the sufficent amount he needed, and the end result was just sad. Ebony sighed and shook her head.
"We'll have to see about that hope after today. Now to start off, this is how you do a Thundaga."
Without closing her eyes, Ebony quickly harnessed the raw magic that was going to be needed for the thunder spell. She felt it flow quickly through her body, before channeling itself to her arm. She reached her hand out to the same boulder that Josh had stricken just moments ago. Two gigantic bolts of lightning fell from the sky, striking the boulder and breaking it into two.
She turned back to Josh, and she figured it was time to start cracking down. She lifted her hand, and a sizeable flame appeared. A simple Fire spell.
"Make this exact same flame. Hold it there for at least 5 minutes, maybe more if you want to. If you can keep it this way without it going out or it blowing anything up, we'll go on to throwing."

Failure. Complete and utter failure. Thats what Josh was feeling right now. He couldn't even do a simple thundaga right. Well maybe simple was a strong word for a powerful lightning based attack. Maybe he should've started smaller. Watching Ebony do magic made it look so easy, yet for Josh, it seemed nearly impossible! Oh well better try. "Better luck next time." He mumbled to himself as she created the flame and told him to do the same thing, and hold it for 5 minutes or so.
How does one do that? Josh just nodded some, and concentrated hard on the power of fire. He felt something, like heat, it was working its way to his hand as he held it away from him a spark appeared in his hand and quickly blew away in the light breeze leaving Josh defeated. "This is going to be a long day." He said before taking another shot at the flame. He concentrated hard before a bigger flame appeared, it seemed to flash away a bit but finally stayed and grew a bit bigger in the palm of his hand as he kept himself focused. "Okay...this is alot harder than I figured it would be." He strained trying to keep the little flame alive.
