It was an early morning at Edge. People were out and about all ready. At 7th Heaven, it was a bit more relaxing. Cloud did not have to work today so he was sleeping in. He was in his bed room laying in bed. He woke up though. It was just a habit to wake up early. He had not had any bad guys to fight lately either. So he could relax with that as well. And just focus on his job. He got out of bed and stretched a bit as we walked down stairs.
And smelled the coffee brewing. Tifa must've been awake already as well....He loved the way she was. Always up in the morning before he was. He grabbed his coffee and walked up to the roof and sat in one of the chairs. And placed his coffee on the table beside him and just sighed as he enjoyed his day off.....He was thinking of Tifa more now days as well....She was really there for him more than any one else....How would he ever get to pay her back for that? |

It was just another day in the bar for Tifa and as usual she had to get up early to clean and prepare the place before opening the bar. She sighed at the thought as she stretched in her bed feeling exhausted all of the sudden from just the thought of working. For a moment she considered just laying down relaxing, 'maybe closing the bar for one day.....'
No she shook her head instantly to rid herself from those thoughts. Tifa had no times from breaks not now, she needed the money for the kids and keeping the bar open. Any days off will only set her back, besides she would disappoint her costumers and she thought it was best to avoid that.
Reluctantly she climbed out of her bed and changed into her usual attire before heading down to get started on her daily chores. Luckily Tifa didn't have a lot to do seeing as she finished most of them last night. All that was left was washing the dishes and that only took her fifteen minutes. 'That wasn't so bad....' She though while preparing a cup of coffee for Cloud knowing he would be up soon. Tifa smiled at the thought of him and blushed as well but instantly shook her head trying to suppress her blush.

Cloud was still up on the roof. He didn't even hear Tifa get up or clean the bar. He was thinking of her though. Was today the day? To tell her everything? He didn't have to work today. So it was now or never. He had bottled these feelings up inside him for so long. It would be a relief to get them all out. Rather she felt the same way or not. He was going to tell her everything.
Finally, he walked down into the bar and saw her and he smiled....
"Hey, morning..." Cloud greeted her with a smile as he would always do to her in the morning. Now that Sephiroth and the other bad guys were gone....It was more relaxing to Cloud. He had not had a battle to worry about for months! So he decided to go back to work....And help Tifa around with the problems around the bar....He got a hold of his tools and placed them on the bar....

"Morning...... I made you coffee just the way you like it....." Tifa replied as she tried to avoid any eye contact not knowing how long she could suppress her blush and emotions from his view. She considered telling him about her feelings, but thought against it after the thought of losing him came to her mind.
Cloud had came back to live in the bar again, but everything else between them was still on the edge. Tifa feared that if she opened up and expressed her feelings towards him would cause him to abandon her and the kids once more. 'Maybe if I ignore these feeling they would fade with time.' She thought but some how doubted. Her emotions were the same ever since they were kids.
Usually she tried to give Cloud little hints and clues about how she felt but that never worked. At first she thought he didn't notice but then believed the reason was because he felt nothing towards her. Of course just thinking that brought tears to her eyes, but Tifa was an expert in hiding them now. "Your up earlier today...." She added turning Cloud's way to give one of her famous smiles once she was sure none of her feelings would surface.

"Morning...... I made you coffee just the way you like it....." "Your up earlier today...." He saw her smile just as she tried to hide her face from him again. Why was she doing that so much...? She was so beautiful. She had nothing to hide from him. Nothing. "I am...I thought I'd get to work on some of the plumbing today for you...Since I was off work for the day....For me? You're amazing..."
He took the coffee in his hands and smiled as he drank it. It tasted awesome! He sat the coffee cup on the bar and looked over at her...
"Hey, Tifa..." He thought he had enough courage to say what he wanted right then....After all the enemies he's been up against, this was still the hardest damn thing to muster up and say......

"Really great I wanted to fix that thing for months now but you were so busy so I never asked....." Tifa replied instantly to his words as she tried to find other things to do around the bar even when she finished all her chores. Working was a good think for her, concentrating on something helped her forget about the unfading feelings she had for the man next to her. The thought of wanting to work now when only moments later she didn't let a soft laugh escape her lips, but she quickly forced herself to stop as she turned to glance at Cloud.
She was glad though in a few moments she would open the bar, and the costumers would keep her busy, that way she wouldn't have to worry about confessing and losing Cloud at least till it was time to close the bar, but then she would just think of an excuse of being too tired or something to escape to her room.
She had been avoiding Cloud a lot lately for her own reason, but she just hoped he hadn't noticed anything. 'He hasn't asked so I guess he didn't..... or maybe he doesn't really care if I am avoiding him.' That thought threatened to bring tears to her eyes but she suppressed them. Tifa wanted to ask Cloud, but she couldn't risk it she couldn't risk losing him again. "Its almost time to open the bar....." She added out loud but only to remind herself of her work.
Hearing Cloud call her name instantly got her attention and she managed to lift her gaze to meet his eyes when inside she was struggling with her emotions. "Yeah....." She managed to reply after a moment.

Cloud looked directly at her as she did finally look into his eyes. He did notice that at times she would try and avoid him. He couldn't understand why she was doing that. "I just wanted to say....Good job on the bar. You've really out done yourself. I'm impressed...." "Great...Cloud. Really great....That's not what I wanted to tell her....Why is this so hard for me....?" He knew why it was hard for him. He was just scared that if he said any thing she would not feel the same way towards him and ask him to leave or some thing....He couldn't let that happen. She was his best friend since child hood.

He complemented her, Why did he have to complement her now? She felt her cheeks heat up as a blush found its way to her skin at his words. Instantly, she averted her gaze to the opposite side trying to control her emotions as much as she could. 'I can't lose control.....' She repeated those words in her mind to keep her from making what she thought was a mistake.
"Uh..... thanks but I really didn't do all that so I don't deserve all the credit. Without your Denzel and Marlene's help this place wouldn't be successful as it is now." She said what she thought was the best reply. After all it was true everyone did help around the bar even Cloud did at times when she needed him, and like that day he was ready to work on anything that needed fixing. She just hoped that this time he was there to stay cause what really frightened her was the thought that he might take off and leave without an explanation, shut and push her away like he did before. 'I can't let that happen..... not this time....' she thought.

Cloud gave her a warm smile. He didn't know that his little affections were setting off her own emotions. If he did he would not do them as much. He then saw her look away from him again. "Come on Cloud....Just tell her why you can...You might not get another chance." He then grabbed her arm but gently.....
"Tifa....There's more...." This was it. Now or never. He had to tell her now....His eyes looked right at her. But even though she was not looking right at him he could sense that she wanted to...

Tifa gasped under her breath once she felt Cloud's grip on her hand and she reluctantly turn to meet his eyes. There was some urgency in his tone, it wasn't clear but she was able to notice. Her eyes widened with fear, was there something wrong? "Cloud?" She asked trying to search for an answer in his eyes, but instead found herself lost in his mako blue.
She sighed once she felt the pressure and lowered her gaze once again. "What is it.... whats wrong?" She asked trying to concentrate on something anything to keep her mind from wondering on other matters. She couldn't risk losing it not now, but the tension was getting to her and everything she has bottled up inside her over the years wasn't helping.

"What is it.... whats wrong?"
He then saw her look down...But he placed his fingers on her chin and made her look back up at him...."Tifa....I gotta say this before I go even more crazier....We've been friends for a long time right....? We've shared things that most have not. We have a bond like no other....What I'm saying is...I have deeply fallen for you...."
He looked down now...He was really scared right now. What if she laughs at him...? He couldn't handle her laughing at him...He couldn't handle that torture again...Even though he was grown up now, Those memories would never leave him...There was so much running through his mind right now. He was literally terrified! He could stand up to his worst enemy....But this.....

Tifa looked at him unsure of what he was trying to say, worried about what he might do or say to her now, or more importantly what she might let slip out if she lost control. That of course showed in her eyes once she felt his touch on her skin and slowly allowed him to lift her gaze to meet his once again.
"Cloud....." She mumbled unsure if he heard her or not. As she waited to hear what was so important that he had to tell her now. She searched his eyes once he started to explain but couldn't find her answer and his words, they only confused her as he started talking about the past while still holding her arm. "What are you.....?"
Then those words came and she gasped this time louder. Fallen for you! did she hear him correctly? She opened her mouth to respond with something, anything but not a sound escaped her lips. For a moment she stood there unable to move respond or anything, just stare at him in disbelieve.

"Cloud....." "What are you.....?" Cloud placed a his fingers on her cheek then...And smiled so warmly at her. "Yes Tifa. I know I never said any thing...I was scared at how you would react. I've actually liked you for a long time. I was afraid to express myself. Cause it's some thing I hardly ever do. But with you....I think I can now and not be so hesitated....I've fallen for you. I can't hold it in any longer...You are the one person that has really been there for me my whole life. No matter what I did, you stood by me....My heart always belonged to you. I...I...love you Tifa." His heart was beating faster than ever as he said that last line. That he loved her. And he was truthful to her....He never left his gaze from her eyes then. As he rubbed his fingers on her cheek....He was so close to her...He then realized that she was not saying anything....
"Tifa...Say some thing...I can't stand the silence..." He lowered his head then as he said that. He was still scared at this moment...But he was relieved that he finally got all this out in the open...Now if only she felt the same.....

Why couldn't she say something, anything wasn't this the moment she has been waiting for? To hear those three words coming from the man she secretly loved all her life threatened to consume her. She was taken by surprised, and now was speechless at his words that she couldn't find a way to reply or even make a sound. All she could do was stand there in silence. Tifa wasn't even aware of how close he was standing to her, not until his hand came in contact with her cheek. Instantly, Tifa felt her cheeks flush bright red and a shiver went down her spin making her tremble by just one touch. She opened her mouth again but no sound escaped her lips. 'Why..... why can't I say anything now when I waited for this moment all my life?'She opened her mouth again for another try when a thought came to her mind. 'Aerith' Was she a replacement for her? Cloud loved her, that was the reason why he abandoned Tifa and left right? Tears filled her eyes and she tore her gaze from his returning to to the floor before finding the strength she needed to back away from his touch. "What about Aerith...... am I just her replacement?" She muttered that question is a low tone but loud enough to hear it. Hearing the door open, Tifa couldn't be happier that a costumer decided to show up earlier than the usual opening time. Normally she didn't allow this and asked everyone to wait, but that day she didn't. She hoped to avoid Cloud's gaze and the awkward reply to her question now that she had to work. Moments later more costumers came in and that kept her busy, at least till it was closing time. (Hey hope this is alright  ) |

"What about Aerith...... am I just her replacement?" Cloud had furrowed his eye brows when she asked that. Aerith...? What brought this up? Was she still thinking he was in love with her? Of course he wasn't in love Aerith! How could she ask that....? He was a bit disappointed that she had even thought about him being with Aerith! But just when he was about to open his mouth and answer her question....A customer came in! Great! Another interruption!
Without saying any thing else....Cloud had to think on this one! How dare her ask that?!! He would just let her go and tend to the customer for now....He was in shock really. So he left her and went up to his bed room.....He just shut the door easily....He was angry and confused....But not too angry to slam a door! "Why did she ask me that....?What did she want me to say?! After I poured my heart out to her....she asked that...? Why did she.....?" Cloud was pacing back and forth in his room.....He was just trying to think of an answer to give her.....He thought he was in love with Aerith....But the truth was there....He thought he was Zack!
