The city of Edge, the one built around Midgar. As usual, people were bustling about in the busy streets. Seeing as it was just the midafternoon hours, it was pretty packed while people were trying to get lunch before break ended or meeting up with old friends. It was one of the busiest hours for Edge. Despite that, people were still able to move around the large four legged creature walking amongst them without danger of knocking someone over in their haste to get away.
He had a blazing red fur and on his right side were obvious tattoos. One on his right shoulder distinctly said 'Red XIII'. It had been the specimen name that Hojo had given him years ago. A name that held no meaning to Nanaki. Sure, some friends called him by it but they were now making an effort to try and call him by his rightful name. Peering up with his single good orange colored eye, Nanaki saw the faces of the humans peering down at him with uncertainty. After coming here every so often, Red XIII would've thought by now that he would be used to this. The feeling of being stared at still made him feel self conscious as he walked through the street.
Shaking his feline head in attempt to shake off his nerves, Nanaki continued on his way. He was grateful that the people gave him enough space at least. His tail wasn't in danger of setting someone on fire by mistake. Why the strange canine-feline creature was here, only Nanaki knew. He had been hoping to bump into a few old friends. Traveling outside of Cosmo Canyon got lonely every now and then. Seeing as his path had taken him somewhere close by, he at least thought it would be nice to pay a visit.
So, here he was, walking amongst the people out in the streets. In appearance, he looked more like a feline-like creature but if one took a glance at his paws, they would see it slightly varied from a regular feline's. Instead, they were more shaped like a dogs but yet not quite. It was uncertain what Nanaki was but it wasn't far fetched to say his species seemed to be a mix between cats and dogs. Even now, Nanaki presented a characteristic much like a dog despite his dominant feline appearance by taking a second to pause and scratch his ear in the fashion of a canine.
"I better not have fleas!" he grumbled with annoyance. It was a reminder that unlike the humans here, Nanaki had fur and even though his intelligence could outmatch that of a human's he was still a beast. Every day, he struggled living the life he had in a world where he just didn't fit into either category. Humans, he just didn't fit in with and neither did he fit in with just regular beasts. Nanaki was a strange combination and it got depressing sometimes realizing he didn't have an opposable thumb or thin enough digits to punch keys on his cell phone he bought.
He heard delighted giggles from any nearby children in response to his scratching his ear like a dog. Nanaki stopped abruptly to look in their direction and gave a smile before heading off again.
"Hey, you!" came a voice from somewhere nearby. Thinking it was probably directed at himself, Nanaki politely paused and looked around to see who was speaking. It didn't take long to find a small group of youngsters looking back at him, no older than Yuffie. "Were you talking to me?" he questioned politely but curiously. The kid nodded his head. Just the scent of him made Nanaki's fur stand a little on end. He was one of the trouble making sort.
"Yeah, I was talking to you! Your kind's not welcome here!" Nanaki already could tell things were going to get unfriendly here as he looked back at the group of teenagers.
"I did not see a sign saying so!" he replied politely but more firmly.

::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” Zack Fair, previous 1st class SOLDIER was walking the streets of edge, more to be able to get away and think more then anything. Buster sword remained on his back as long strides carried him down the busy streets. They buzzed with talking, honking, but he tried to block it out. Yet that was pretty much impossible. Zack finally slowed his step and watched the people that were streaming by, no thought to what lay before them, not even any knowledge. He shook his head, they were in for a rude awakening here pretty soon. They were all getting swept up, caught up in their jobs, their life, but pretty soon they were going to have to evacuate the world. Thanks to Repa that was now possible, but he was pretty sure most people wouldn't be happy for the disruption. “Tch, just like 'em.” He hadn't realized he had said that out loud, but it didn't really matter, no one was listening. Yet some paused to watch the man with the largest sword they had ever seen simply hanging on his back. No one knew him now. Years previous they would have known him, they would have dropped everything and pointed the first class SOLDIER...but that was a long time ago, now he was just another person...except he had a massive sword hanging on his back.
He stopped to yawn, brain work really made you tired, and he had been doing a lot of thinking. If Gaia was to be destroyed, what would happen after that? He was pretty sure the Raines wouldn't want people living on their planet forever. But she had also seemed to think the planet wasn't going to be destroyed, just...in a manner of speaking, cleansed. That meant rebuilding though, which was fine, it would be nice to have the planet cleansed if it took away things like the ruins of Midgar.
He felt a hand tug at his hand, Zack raised his hand and with a startled look, dropped his eyes down. A boy, no more then 6 or 7 was standing there looking up at him. “Mr?” Zack liked kids, so he knelt down to eye level and smiled at him. “Heya there champ, what'cha want?” The boys eyes went to his sword and he bit his lip, “Can I hold your sword?” Zack chuckled, “I'm not so sure if you can, but you can try if ya want.” With that he reached back and effortlessly pulled out the massive sword. “Here ya go.” He held it out and the eager boy reached for the hilt of the sword. The look on his face was pure shock when he felt the weight of the sword, then his eyes went cross eyed as he huffed and puffed to try and lift it. Zack smiled at the expression on the kids face, but then a tight voice snapped from behind the kid. “Charles! Drop the filthy weapon immediately.” Zack looked up to see what was probably the kids mother striding toward them, the look on her face full of wrath.
The look that was on the boys face was instantly gone, replaced by a sullen look. “Aww but Mom!” Zack watched the scene play out and had to smile. Wrong move. The wrath the mother had been about to unload on the boy was now directed to him. “You!” Zack immediately snapped to attention, reaching to pick up his sword, he gave the boy a lopsided smile before rising to his full height and putting the sword back on his back. “How dare you let a boy hold onto something that he could kill himself with?! He's 6! He could have gotten hurt or killed and it would have been all YOUR FAULT!” She ended it with screaming at him. “Woah woah, easy now.” He said and put his hands up, palm out at chest level. “Didn't mean to upset you at all...Charles here just wanted to-” He was cut off by the look she sent him as she pulled her son away. Shrugging, Zack turned around and walked away. Back to the grind of life.
That was when the crowds suddenly seemed to be dispersing. A voice shouted out and for a moment Zack thought the mother had come back to give him another piece of her mind. Zack had walked through the crowd and was now standing alone looking over at where a group of young teenagers stood around an animal that he couldn't decide if it was a dog or a feline. What was this? He crossed his arms and was about to see what was up when suddenly the lion/dog creature talked. The look on Zack's face was complete and utter shock. His mouth had dropped open and he just stood there, arms hanging on his sides. Was he really seeing this? In his time he had seen some pretty strange stuff, but never a lion that talked. Everyone seemed to just go on with life, although they gave the kids and the lion a large berth as they walked around. “Hey!” He said as he strode toward them, blue eyes narrowed slightly, arms still crossed. Red XIII stood his ground despite the looks the kids were giving him. Why this group disliked him, he didn't really know. He guessed he was just a random target they picked out today. Most of the city's kids liked Nanaki because of what he was. What kid didn't like an animal? Especially one as cool looking as Red XIII? It was almost difficult to understand. Unless, of course, they mistook him for a monster?
Even though the youth had responded to him smugly, Nanaki could see the surprise in his eyes that Red XIII responded back. Most people were shocked whenever they figured out he could talk. Not many beasts talked. It was always his ability to speak that shocked people rather than the fact he was a creature that looked like a mix between a cat and a dog or his burning tail tip.
Nanaki showed no fear of these teenagers. If anything, after Sephiroth, these teenagers were mere pushovers. Still, he had no intentions of harming these teenagers. He'd probably scare them if it really came down to it and maybe sit on one.
The leader that spoke to Red XIII had opened his mouth to speak when someone else arrived on the scene. The teenagers and Nanaki looked over in wonder at who else came upon this. Was it someone else here to also bully Nanaki? He didn't know as his yellow and orange eye fell upon a tall figure. Looking at him, there was something about him that reminded him of someone. Was it because of the large weapon sheathed on his back? That could be it. Cloud always carried around a massive and rather broad sword. This guy carried something quite similar to Cloud's.
"What do you want?!" asked the teen whom had been talking to Nanaki earlier. His tone was gruff like he was with Nanaki. Even though the youth was rude, Nanaki pitied the child's foolishness. He seemed to have a habit of challenging others that were clearly stronger and more intimidating in appearance than he was. Figures, he was one of those idiots that had to prove themselves only to end up humiliated in the end.
Looking up at the tall figure with his arms crossed, Nanaki spoke to him. "I apologize for this child not learning any manners." This only angered the teenager further.
"Shut it, beast! You shouldn't even be able to talk!"

::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” Zack continued to walk toward where the teenagers were so obviously causing trouble. Growing up his mother and father would have beat him for such behavior. After joining SOLDIER Angeal would have beat his ass for for doing anything even remotely like this, honor and respect had been drilled into his mind, to the point where he could do nothing but. And so this scene coming before him was irritating, and Zack didn't get irritated easily. Maybe with his 'old age' came some sort of crankyness, but the usually laid back and easy going Zack was now a scowling Zack. Didn't anyone teach their children respect anymore? If he ever had kids he would lay the rules down and punish any who showed any disrespect like this. The blue eyes hat sparkled so easily and laughed at everything were now hard and irritated, his mouth drawn in a firm line.
And if things hadn't been bad enough when they were trying to boss around the creature, now they were sassing him. Hell no. HELL NO. He did NOT take kids that young an such punks sassing off to him. He had been through more in one day then they had gone through in their entire lives. He had gotten to where they stood and had stopped himself, arms were on his hips as he glared them down, mako blue eyes catching each of their eyes before he said anything more.
When the creature tried to smooth things over Zack's eyes flashed momentarily to the animal...animal right? He hadn't ever seen an animal talk before...but there was first times for everything. The animal already had his respect just for trying to talk about things and smooth them over in a respectful manor. “No need to apologize for brats like this, it should be them apologizing, or their parents for that matter.” Zack gave them all another stare, now Zack was fair, and he had been thinking he would give them a chance to make it all better, maybe apologize and skuttle off to be with their parents.
Then they had to go and spoil that nice thought he had been having going on in his brain. Oh no, nobody wanted to piss of Zack, and right now, he was pissed off. In three strides he was next to the biggest boy, the leader he presumed. “The hell your gonna talk like that!” He grabbed at him and his hand closed around the loose fitting shirt right below his chin. Zack stuck his face directly in the kids and tried to force himself to talk quiet. When he did talk he was deceptively calm, something he wasn't normally. “Now I'm sure this nice lion here hasn't eaten you yet just because he has more sense and manners then you. But I'd bet every penny I've ever worked for that he could rip your throat out in a split second.” He paused to look at him again, his hand still remaining a death grip on his shirt. “And I'm being VERY patient because I understand that kids are kids and they want to just have fun, but don't test me.” His glare was still there as he lifted the kid off his feet to meet him at eye level. The poor kids feet were dangling off the ground and he was squirming, trying to get out of Zack's grasp. He resisted the urge to shake him so badly his teeth would rattle and slap some sense into the punk kid. And it was a really strong urge. If there was anything he hated it was kids like this. He would have been kicked in the butt from people if he ever had acted that way. [/blockquote] Words: 740 Muse: great Notes: haha this is what happens when Zack gets mad! xDD

It was loud... Far too loud... The ears were flattened to his skull, eyes narrowed furiously. Life around here seemed fairly normal, but he still hated the sights, the smells, and especially the noise. With ears as sensitive as his, anyone would have felt the same. If he hadn't adapted to his massively heightened senses, he would have surely been going insane by now. To add on to his current misery, the sun beat mercilessly down upon his black fur and turk uniform. He could feel the fleshy skin beneath the soft fur growing moist. It wouldn't be long before the sweat broke through the protective outer layer of fur. He had the mind of a human, though; and his human judgment outruled his instinct. He longed to pant like a true wolf or dog, but he was already dehumanized enough. Any more animal actions would seriously lessen the already low view society had on him.
So he merely kept walking, crimson eyes flashing from one human being to the next. Humans... They were intresting creatures... But also, quite violent at times. He watched as someone appeared to rush from a store, clutching some artifact to his chest. The shifty glance steh human male kept throwing over his shoulder, along with the angry curses of the shopkeeper, were more than enough to alert the Hybrid Turk. He flexed his legs, and instantly sprang into action. A flash of black fur, followed by a sudden back swipe from a clawed right hand... And the theif was curled up on the ground. He was physically unharmed, but winded. The Turk kneeled wordlessly at the guy's side, and pried the parcel from his limp hands. "This isn't your's..." His raspy voice said simply. Raze rose back to his feet, just as the shopkeeper ran up, panting. Ignoring the man's hasty thanks, the Mutt handed him the parcel and turned away. He nodded in awknowledgement of his gratitude, then resumed his steady walk.
Most people steered well clear of the wolf-man, but nervous glances grew relaxed as they recognized the uniform. Turks were not often hated hated here... One step after another, he wondered why he was out here in the blazing heat. He was off duty, and had merely wanted to leave his office at Turk HQ. But why had he come here? There were better places to go when one was searching for a relaxing walk. His tail lashed irritably, passing near a baby in a stroller. The baby squealed in delight and waved his small hands, grabbing at the soft furry thing that rushed past him. The mother snorted with laughter, and Raze took longer strides to distance himself from the infant. Pulling on his tail had never resulted in a good result. He had a very short temper, and claws were almost always used when he got pissed.
Then, certain voices reached his ears, and they swiveled around. His sharp eyes turned towards the hostile voices, and caught sight of something that made his feel a surge of excitement. He knew that red-orange beast... If fact, he had been part of the Shin-ra group sent to retrieve the animal from Cosmo Canyon. But, him being a Hybrid animal played its role at that time. He had argued against taking the rare specimen from his home, he had even almost attacked the leader of the party out of irritation when he insisted on capturing the animal. Only common sense had placed his Turk Iron bar, and both of his Materia powered guns, at bay. He had watched reluctantly as the creature, later named Red XIII, was kidnapped.
Red XIII had become a Hojo experiment, just as the Hybrid Turk had been. More than once, he had considered releasing the animal from its prison, only to decide he was better off keeping his job. And he had regretted those decisions ever since. Seeing how Red XIII was now free made him feel relief; until the young boys sparked his anger again. Red XIII was being harrassed now, and he didn't deserve it at all... Raze felt a sort of comradship with the fiery-furred beast, as he too had been subject to similar treatment before he became a Turk. And he would certaintly not stand by as the poor creature was messed with. He had no doubt that Red XIII could handle himself, but all the same... The boy's actions enraged him.
He broke into a fast walk, rapidly approaching the boys and the red beast. His hands/paws were itching to draw the two guns from his holster, but he brought out the Turk Iron Bar instead. Young boys would act like that, it was in human nature. But such actions didn't call the death penalty, especially to adolescents. The Hybrid was more set on intimidating, rather than harming.
But before he reached the group, another man arrived. That man seemed familiar, but Raze couldn't recall a name just yet. Moving faster, he was soon at Red XIII's side, ignoring the other man. Pupils had narrowed to mere slits, giving him an almost feral look. But he had heard the man's words a moment ago, and he snorted with laughter.
"Yes... I doubt you could hold out long against such a fine animal." He snarled at the kids. He made no sudden movement with his Iron bar, but he made sure it was in full view of the boys' eyes. His tail had fluffed up slightly, fur begining to stand up.

As Cid Highwind finished up delivering his cargo to Edge, he had some time to kill as the crew unloaded it from The Shera. Scratching his chin, he looked over at his most senior crew member. "I'm gonna go for a walk around town, don't let these guys mess anything up." He said with a smirk. The crew member nodded. "Yes sir, Captain. We should be done in about a half hour." He said. Cid was already walking away, and simply held a hand up. "Yeah, yeah...I'll be back." He said. And with that, the skilled pilot made his way around Edge.
It was the same as usual, people bustling around here and there. It was always like this around this time of day. A few people even recognized him as he made his way through town, which made sense, Cid was always coming to Edge on business for the WRO. He really wanted to see this town become the thriving community he knew it could be. Since the destruction of Midgar, these people deserved a nice completed city. It was hard work, but everyday they got a little closer to completing the work on the city.
Reaching up to his goggles, Cid pulled a cigarette out of the pack that was stuck into them. Sticking it into his mouth, he stopped for a second and pulled out his lighter, lighting the cigarette. Taking a long puff, he exhaled and continued walking around town, enjoying his cigarette. "Ahh, just what I needed." He said with a smile.
As he continued walking, a woman suddenly looked at him and gave him a snotty look. Cid raised an eyebrow. "Sir, that is a disgusting habit! You need to really think about your health!" She said. Cid blinked. He hated when people commented on his habit, and hated it even more when strangers did. "Listen here, lady. I'm a grown ass man, and I'll do whatever the hell I want. And if you have a problem with that, you can go ahead and blow it out your ass. Mind yer' own business." Cid said, glaring at the woman and taking another drag of his cigarette. Her jaw dropped and she went speechless, before grunting and walking away, obviously having nothing to say.
Laughing a bit to himself, Cid took the last puff before flicking his cigarette to the ground and stomping on it, putting it out. He liked smoking, who cared? He didn't force his opinions on anyone else. Suddenly, he heard a commotion nearby. Looking up he saw a large group of teens. He saw something else in that group as well, his old friend Nanaki! It looked like they were giving him trouble, and Cid wasn't going to sit by and let a bunch of punk teens insult his friend. It looked like a group had already formed, so Cid walked up, ready to help out his pal.
"What the hell is wrong with you damn kids?" Cid said as he walked up. "This guy happens to be a friend of mine, and if you have a problem with him then you got a problem with me." Cid said, pointing at Nanaki. He then edged closer, noticing another guy...Who had a large sword and clothing like Clouds. Huh? Cid shook his head and edged to the teens. "And I'll go as far to say that my friend here is smarter than any of you little $@#!#! punks. Keep messing with him, and I swear to god I'll mess with you!" Cid said, punching his hand into his fist and glaring at the punk kids. He stood next to Nanaki and awaited to see if they would back off. He wasn't gonna grab his spear, he didn't need it for these punks.

Honestly, Nanaki was no push over himself. It's just that these were a bunch of young ones and he knew enough not to try to harm them. Looking at the way things were going, talking was definitely out of the question. He could tell there was no reasoning with them if it were just up to him to talk things through. It was to his relief there were decent people in this city and not ones that would side with these bratty kids.
He heard what the dark haired man had to say about the situation. "I couldn't agree more." Yes, the parents of these children should be ashamed to let them act this way. Then again, for all Red XIII knew, they were orphans that had to survive like they did explaining the bratty attitudes. Still, Nanaki wasn't going to think of an excuse to give them. The way they were treating him and the tall human that reminded him somewhat of Cloud because of his clothing and weapon, there was no excuse. Everyone had a right to do what they wanted within reason. Walking amidst humans for Nanaki was fine since he never hurt anyone.
It was apparent the older human got tired of the sass the younger kid gave him. Watching uncertainly, Nanaki saw the guy grab the kid by the collar of his shirt. It was evident on the lead teenager's face that he was surprised how the other reacted. Usually, people probably ignored the kid or put up with his attitude. For him to see someone like this guy acting towards him was a definite shocker. Hearing the things he said to the child, Nanaki felt awkward. Yes, he could very well rip that child's throat if he wished but he knew better than that. Bugenhagen and his parents had brought Nanaki up right, to not act like a violent animal that he could very well be.
He was surprised when someone else arrived on the scene. It was very surprising to see that the person who spoke was more like what he was, an animal but yet had human-like qualities to him. Judging by the attire, he was a Turk? Having dealt with the Turks in the past, Nanaki's fur rose a little but went down once more. This Turk was clearly on his side...for now. "Um..thank you!" he retorted to what the wolf-turk had said as well as what Zack had said.
'I could rip that teenager's throat out but grandfather would be ashamed of me!' he thought. Red XIII wasn't at all a violent animal unless he had to be. That was generally when he had to protect himself from actual harm or others. Nothing these teenagers could do would even come close to the things he had been through.
Then, to put the icing on the cake and top it all off, a familiar voice was heard. Turning with delighted surprise, Nanaki found Cid Highwind there at his side. "Cid?!" Like the other two, he was defending Nanaki's case. Hearing Cid's voice, Nanaki could tell Cid's vocabulary was still as colorful as ever. With the four of them now, it was obvious the teenagers were on the losing side. With their leader a few feet off the ground and nearly nose to nose with Zack, they were seeing the serious mistake they had made. Already, a few were backing away uneasily, apologizing before bailing out on their leader.
The head teen struggled in Zack's grasp, almost afraid he was going to get a good thrashing. "I-I-I'm sorry!" he stammered, trying to free himself. "I-I w-won't do it again! I swear!" he said in a clearly not so brave and gruff tone of voice as before. Standing there, Nanaki felt a little awkward that three others had arrived to help him out. It's not that he didn't appreciate the help, it's just now he felt like a bit of a bother.

::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” Zack was interrupted when he heard a voice that came out in a snarl. Turning his head, the raven haired man caught sight of another animal? Why were all these animals talking anyway? Something wasn't right, but then again, he would probably be told why after these damn boys left. And then suddenly he realized the second...wolf had on the clothes of a Turk. A Turk?! What? He was obviously missing something here, but with a shake of his head his gaze returned to the boy he still had in a death grip.
His face had gone white and his eyes were as big as dinner platters. Zack almost smiled at that, if the kid could see his own face he would probably start crying. As it was he looked like he was going to start crying at any second. Zack hoped they saw the error in their ways, because SOMEONE needed to teach kids what respect and honor were, and if no one else would, he was going to have to show them...at least these boys. He forced himself not to smile but he didn't loosen his grip. In SOLDIER you couldn't act this stupid and get away with it, no one could. You grew up really fast in that aspect.
And then another voice sounded. This was was especially colorful, but by the look the kids had on their faces if they hadn't wanted to cry before they surly did now. Then he couldn't help it. When the guy punched his one hand into he other a smiled reached his lips. He glanced at the kid who's face had gotten even whiter. He hadn't thought that was possible, but the kid was still squirming as he held him off the ground. "Ya know what kid? I think I should just let...uh...Cid? Cid here have some fun with you brats. Serve you right.” He said, and though he was dead serious his voice held a laughing quality in it, who wouldn't laugh at the expression that was painted on his face.
The other teens left and Zack smirked, “You need to pick more loyal friends, these punks always run off on you when you need some help?” It wasn't a question to be answered, just to make him think. Rhetorical questions were great. When the kid stuttered out his apology Zack smiled and nodded approvingly. “Well then I guess I won't let Cid over there have you, but you need to apologize to Mr. uh...Red you were talking bad to.” If he was that kid he surly wouldn't want to mess with the big blonde guy that was swearing up a storm. With that he loosened the grip and let the kid fall back to the ground, he had been holding him about 2 feet in the air. He then gave him a big smile and brushed off his shirt, which was still bunched where he had been holding it in his fist. Oh yeah, scaring punk kids was fun.
He gave him a 'I'm waiting' sort of look until he kid would apologize to the lion. Just to have some fun with the kid Zack went to crack his neck. The four made up an unlikely group of people, with the man that was swearing, the lion and wolf that could talk and he 1st class ex-SOLDIER who in all accounts, should be dead. Enough of that though, his blue eyes hardened as he waited for the apology to go out to the red lion. Hands then went to his hips as he stood with feet braced apart. A vision of Angeal came to his head then. He wished his old mentor was here to take a look at what he COULD have had to deal with. Zack might have been irritating at times, but he hadn't ever pulled anything stupid around his mentor.

ooc: Shall I spice this up a bit? A little more action will be fun... *evil grin*
bic: He was starting to feel a bit weird himself. Short temper or not, he really hadn't needed to interfere here. But any insult to another rare, former-experiment was pretty much insulting him as well. The third guy had come up, smoking a cigarette and using... Well... Not pleasant language. He couldn't help but smirk at that. He knew plenty of people with such attitudes, and he occasionally had a fit that would lead to similar dirty words coming from his mouth.
All the same... He felt obliged to say something to Red XIII as he put away his Turk bar. It had been one of numerous things that had always nagged his guilty feelings. Now ignoring the two men, he focused his attention fully on the Dog-Lion. "I know I am merely one, and I cannot take responsibility for the entire Turk organization... But I must apologize for what we did to you all those years ago. No one should be taken from their home like that... I admit that I was never quite fond of the plan to kidnap you from Cosmo Canyon, but I was too much of a coward to act." He dipped his head rather sadly. "You probably don't recognize me, but I was there... I do hope such a thing never happens to you, or anyone, on my account again."
He turned away, ready to resume his little wanderings. He had no reason, nor right, to remain here in the presence of these three. "Good day to you all." He said to them. But before he could take a step, his phone vibrated. he pulled the thing out and moved away from the group slightly. The voice at the other end of the line line sounded excited."Raze, this is Headquarters. Our intelligence has reported sightings of two people who have been wanted for a while now. Well, more like one human and another animal hybrid mix; not unlike yourself. They go by the names Cid, and Red XIII AKA Nanaki. Turks have been dispatched to Edge streets, and you are to join in this search and detain them on the spot. Due to your exceptional tracking skills, you have been placed in charge of this search. If I am correct, you have been wandering Edge for a little over a standard hour. Have you seen any trace of these two?"
The Hybrid stiffened, ears starting to flatten to his head again. The crimson hues shifted over to fix on the group. "No Sir, I haven't. If I catch their scent though, I will make sure they fail to escape. I will report in an hour."
He received an affirmative from HQ, and the connection broke. A few choice words spit from his jaws, but he was careful not to compete with the Cid guy. turning around, he swiftly returned to join the group. He pointed a clawed hand at Red XIII and Cid in turn. "You two had better get moving. There's a search for you guys that was just put into place. I will do what I can to help you. You may chose to believe me or not, but keep in mind you will not escape from here without my aid. I've been assigned to lead this search for you, and will shortly know the position of everyone sent out."
He stared at the raven-haired guy. "This does not concern you, so what is it you plan to do? I'm afraid if you're about to turn me and these two in, then I will be forced to silence your voice." He wasn't trying to be threatening, but he really had no other choice right now. His nerves were already running a bit high from what he was doing.

As the kids ran off, Cid smirked. Reaching up he grabbed a smoke from his pack and lit it up, before putting his lighter back into his pocket. Taking a puff, he looked at the guy who looked like Cloud and gave him a simple nod. He felt that grabbing the kid by his shirt was a bit much, and they could have just talked some respect into the punk. After all, he was just a kid. Shrugging, Cid looked at Nanaki. "Heya, Nanaki. Of all places, I run into you at Edge! That's one hell of a walk." He said with a laugh.
As Cid caught up with his good friend, he was suddenly cut short as the wolf turk started talking to Nanaki. Apparently this guy was there when Shinra got there hands on Nanaki and Hojo experimented on him. Cid glared at him, but shrugged it off. The man then made his exit, turning around only to get on his phone, and decided to have his conversation not too far from them. Cid raised an eyebrow but ignored it.
Looking down at Nanaki again, Cid smirked at his old friend. Taking a drag on his cigarette, Cid looked up at the guy who looked like Cloud. Before he could ask him anything though, the wolf like Turk suddenly hung up his phone and walked back up to them, pointing at him and Nanaki. Cocking an eyebrow, Cid crossed his arms and listened to what he had to say.
When the Turk finished speaking Cid didn't know what to think. Looking down at Nanaki, he gave him a confused look, guessing Nanaki was just as confused as he was. "What do you mean there's a search for us? We aren't wanted men anymore, we saved the $@#!&! world!" Cid said to the wolf man, obviously agitated. This made no sense whatsoever. Cloud and Tifa lived in Edge, and Reeve ran the World Regenesis Organization. Hell, Cid himself worked for the WRO! Nobody saw them as criminals anymore, they made peace with Rufus and the Turks! And what did he mean they needed his help? Couldn't escape without his help? Did this guy have any idea how often they fought and defeated Turks? Needless to say, Cid wasn't pleased.
"I'm here on a delivery for damn sakes!" He said, anger in his voice. Taking the last drag of his cigarette, Cid threw it to the ground and stomped on it, before crossing his arms and looking down at Nanaki. "You need a ride, Nanaki?" He asked his friend, obviously not showing any fear. Cid didn't plan on any kind of escaping when he did nothing wrong. He came on his airship and he'd be leaving on it.

The punk kid struggled in Zack's grasp even still. He was sure he didn't plan on bothering anyone again after going through an experience like this. He was sorry he ever angered these people, people that actually bothered to stop and put him back in his place. He couldn't see his friends bailing out on him but he did feel suddenly quite alone in this. All the kid did now was dangle in the old man's arms who was threatening the lot of them.
The man with the colorful language didn't help any either and seeing as there was a wolf man to boot, the kids backed off. Most of them high tailing it out of there with hurried apologies. Finally, it was all down to just the one punk kid from earlier still in Zack's grasp.
Eventually, Zack let the kid go after telling him that he needed to apologize to Red about the whole thing. Uncertainly, the kid did look back over his shoulder and was dismayed to find he had been the last one remaining. Now, there really was no getting out of this as he stood his ground.
Nanaki peered back at the young teenager as he looked back at him. He could see the uneasiness in the boy's eyes before finally opening his mouth to speak. Perking his ears forward, Nanaki listened as the kid nervously spoke. "S-Sorry...M-Mr. Red." Nanaki locked eyes with the young teenager and could clearly see he meant it. "Apology accepted!" he stated with a nod. Curtly, the kid nervously inclined his head and then turned and ran for it. When that was said and done, Nanaki inwardly sighed with relief that it was over. Then, the wolf turk spoke to him. Confused, Nanaki turned his head to peer up at him with his only good eye and listened to what the other had to say. Apparently, he was ashamed of what he had done in helping capture Red XIII. It was this Turk's way of apologizing for the bad he had done. Seeing the other's eyes, Nanaki could tell he truly meant it so he didn't growl at him even though his fur had rose slightly. His fur calmed down again seeing that they were no longer at odds. "...I understand. It's all in the past now. Thank you." With that, Red XIII watched as the turk wolf set off. He almost questioned him as to whatever happened with him because he didn't recall seeing a humanoid wolf among the Turks who caught him but thought better of it. Now, turning his attention onto Cid and Zack as Raze seemed to have departed, he inclined his head respectfully. "Thank you for your help." It was then that Cid mentioned how odd it was that they ran into each other in Edge and Nanaki smiled to himself at the remark about a long walk. "Indeed it has been. I've been on my way back to Cosmo Canyon and thought I'd stop by." Like Cid, his attention turned on Zack wondering who he was. He reminded him a lot of Cloud. Maybe he was a warrior that was once part of Shinra? Maybe one of the SOLDIER class that Cloud thought he used to be? Whatever the case was, before either he or Cid could ask him who he was, the wolf turk had returned after having had a conversation over his cell phone. Judging by his voice, he was bothered by what he had to report. Nanaki's orange and yellow eye widened at what he was hearing. They were wanted?! Whatever for? Like Cid, Nanaki looked over at his former comrade in surprise and confusion written all over his feline and canine face. He let Cid speak as he stated they weren't wanted men anymore when they had been the ones to save the world. Nanaki nodding in agreement at what Cid had just said. They didn't just save it once either, they managed to save it twice. Looking back over at Cid as Nanaki sat on his haunches, he wondered about the situation. The more he thought about it, the fishier it sounded. Why would they be wanted men when Cid worked for WRO like Reeve? Tifa even lived here and nothing appeared to be happening to her. Unless it had before Red XIII arrived? If they captured Tifa, Nanaki would help Cloud get her out. Red was very loyal to his friends and would do anything to help them when they were in need. It was when Cid looked down at him after saying he had been here on delivery, Nanaki could tell the airship captain didn't seem affected by what was going on. It was typical of Cid to act this way. Nanaki was a bit unsure though. He wasn't afraid for he had fought Turks before, just uncertain about why they were wanted. Had they been framed for something? Who would do that and why? Hearing Cid's offer, Nanaki couldn't help but smile. He and Cid got along just fine because of their intelligence. "If you wouldn't mind, yes please." Nanaki liked the airship. It made traveling very convenient.[/blockquote]

::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” Zack smiled as that was all over and turned to face the three. Mako blue eyes took in the Turk apologizing to the Lion. Nanaki his name was? The blonde guy he had pegged as 'Cid' was talking to him, well at least he had a name. They seemed to be friends, so he just stood and watched the people as they started getting back on with their lives. Yawning, he put his hands back behind his head and just to keep his body moving, paced around. Not in a way that made it seem like he needed action, just in his own distracted sort of way. What was with all the Turks apologizing? Reno and Cissnei had done he same to him, as well as Tifa and Cloud, was it their time to want forgiveness? He thought it was a good thing, besides, he had always liked the Turks, even when they had been hunting him. He realized it was just a job, and they were loyal, besides, a few of them had been good friends of his. Tseng and Cissnei mostly, but he now talked to Reno quite a bit. Then again, they were tied in the same boat with the portal thing they had found.
He nodded to the Turk as he left and stood watching the friends have a little reunion of sorts. Thats when he noticed that they both turned to him with a questioning look. Silently asking him who he was. He was about to comply and tell them his name and who he was when suddenly the Turk was back. The look of surprise on Zack's face was quickly there as he stared at the Turk. What? Why were they marked?! Then Cid went on about how they had saved the world and suddenly it clicked. Hadn't Tifa and Cloud spoke of their friends on more then one occasion? He should have known, how many other red lions were running around in Gaia? But back to the problem at hand, why would they be wanted, hadn't the Turks helped them the last time they were fighting Sephiroth? He put his hands on his hips and his brow furrowed as he tried to think of exactly what was going on.
Now it was his turn to get threatened. “Woah now, I know the Turks, that is...most of them, and I respect them, no need to be threatening here. I'm definitely not the guy to run to them with information.” His hands had raised to about chest level as if warding off his attack. Zack hated having to admit it, but he had no doubt if he needed to he could fight any of the Turks and come out victorious. That didn't mean he would. He liked the Turks for the most part, although he didn't know this one. “If you knew who I was you wouldn't be asking.” He replied shortly, before turning back to the other two, who seemed to be discussing what to do. Zack stood there and watched, not wanting to butt in or anything. Finally everyone seemed to be done talking and so he had to ask his question.
Though they probably wouldn't appreciate the detainment, Zack would like to help, and know who they were. Glancing sharply at the Turk, Zack walked closer. “Hey, are you friends of Cloud and Tifa?” He had to ask, although glancing at he Turk, he then sent his own message. It stated plain and simple that anyone messing with Cloud or Tifa wouldn't be happy about doing it, but then he turned back to Cid and Nanaki. Words: 718 Muse: alright Notes: notta

The Hyrbid merely narrowed his eyes at Cid. "Listen here..." He growled, struggling to keep his temper at bay. "I have no idea why the hell they're searching for you. If you haven't noticed, I'm finding this rather a shock myself. Apparently, your 'peace' is no longer in affect. Nothing had been said at the office about this. They may just want to ask questions; or maybe it is something more dire."
The ears swiveled around, the sensitive inner ear hair vibrating. Then a single chopper was in the air not far off; but it was quickly joined by more. Everything was rapidly getting worse. he spun back around, and said in a rushed voice. "There have been some complications recently, however. I'm not at liberty to voice these conflicts, but it's possible that you and your friends are being set up. If so, you should be on your w..." His voice was cut off as his phone suddenly vibrated again. He flipped int open, and stared at the screen.
"Cid, is this 'ride' of yours an airship by the name of Shera?" The crimson hued eyes flashed over the message, blazing across the words as he took in the unwelcome news. He was sure that it was. There had been something about that in reports that he had read back at the office. "If so, I'm afraid you had better hurry. Seems like a large search party is headed towards your ship. They are apparently planning to take the ship and impound it; use it as bait for you. They've just asked for my assistance in the capture. If you get there quickly, you may be able to get away before they reach your ship. He examined the last few sentences wordlessly, before returning the phone to his pocket.
More helicopters were in the air now, and the Mutt could see familiar Turk faces,as well as infantrymen, in the approaching crowds. It wouldn't be long now before they were discovered. At least the nearby buildings offered some shade protection; at least if Red XIII hid his flaming tail. "Just get away somehow. I would suggest taking whatever friends that may be nearby with you if you see them. I can keep the search off your back for a bit, but I'm not sure how long it will last." He paused, gazing at the crowds nervously, before adding, "If you don't mind me saying so, I want you to stay in this alleyway for a moment while I lead the others away. feel free to listen in, I have nothing to hide from you. And Red XIII; if you wish to remain undiscovered, you should hide that tail tip somewhere, so that the darkness can do its job in concealing you." He turned away, blending into the shifty crowd. screw this... Why was he helping them?! Oh yeah... Because he was being stupid and disobeying direct orders. He snorted irritably.
He gathered many of those who were searching, and he turned to another Turk who had only just showed up. Most of the other people were simply security folks. "Ok... Mind explaining why we're hunting for these people? They saved the world, what could they have possibly done wrong?!""
The man shrugged and said, "Not so sure myself. I'm just as confused as you are. But I believe the Higher-Ups found some evidence of their involvement in the collapse of turk HQ."
Raze's eyes glittered dangerously. "What?!"[c/olor] He hissed through gritted teeth."Headquaters fell?!"
The other turk looked absolutely shocked. "Yeah. The Weapons Development building is down, destroyed by some bomb thing, I think. You didn't know? It happened about 45 minutes ago."
The Mutt shook his head violently. "No, I didn't. I've been out here for over an hour." He turned away, fur beginning to stand up again. He didn't believe any evidence had been found... Probably the Cloud group was simply being used as a scapegoat here. Unless Red XIII and Cid could be in two places at once, which he doubted... True, it couldn't have been any longer than 10 minutes since he had jumped into the 'little boy' conflict. But HQ was about 15 minutes away from here, by vehicle. It just didn't seem possible. No doubt, Cid and Red XIII had been wandering the streets for a while. But if the Cloud group had planned an attack, it seemed logical that they would have included Cid and Red XIII in the plot. So placing the blame on these former troublemakers had to just be a convenient excuse... "Damn it..." He growled.
He turned to the group of expectant faces and raised his voice. "Ok, men. I've been around here for a while, and I haven't found any trace of the Targets." He gazed at the other Turk. "Have the city outskirts been secured?" They guy nodded, and two more Turks arrived at that time; one more male, and a female.
"We will split this search group 3 ways." He said, returning his attention to address everyone. "Each group will be led by one Turk. Grab a helicopter or two, and take the north, west, and south parts of the city. I will search the east on my own. Fewer people with me, the fewer scents I'll have to ignore. It'll be easier and more efficient for me to track the targets without distraction, if I locate them at all. Now get moving." He turned away from the group as the 3 patrols were formed and set off in their designated directions.
Raze hurried back toward the shadowy area where he had left Cid, Red XIII, and the raven-haired guy. As he reached them, he said softly, "Your ship is located in my designated search route. I should be able to keep your path clear, possibly stall those who are headed towards it. He grinned in a futile attempt at humor. "Apparently, you and your friends are being charged for exploding part of the Turk Headquarters. Obviously, I disagree; or I would have sent them all your way. keep in mind that I am on your side in this situation. It's not like I'll be a Turk much longer anyway..."
His voice trailed off on that last sentence. He had been planning on leaving the Turk organization soon anyway, so this really didn't matter. This would be is first; and most likely, last action of rebellion. No, he hadn't been the one to leave the HQ building in shambles; but he was getting sick of being treated like the animal he was, instead of the human he used to be.
He gazed momentarily at the raven-haired guy, recalling his earlier words. "Well, if you are on their side, I'll leave you be. we can work on proper introductions another time, if there is one." Then he gestured at the other two. "This way." He said. "The quickest way to your ship's location is down this alleyway. Once we get there, I won't be of much further use to you, though." Then he headed down the alley at a fast-paced jog. Whether they followed or not, he didn't care. He was going to the ship, and would try to keep it safe; even if he had to do it by force.
The question of why he was doing this rose once more in his head. The answer was simple... When the Organization falsely accused the innocent, his blood boiled with rage. What had happened to proper justice?!
ooc: I swear... If I ever type this much again, you guys can shoot me... X-X *dies anyway*
Update: My apologies, Cid. Didn't mean to godmode a bit in the last post. I'm getting a bit too excited... I've altered this one, hopefully more to your taste.

Cid smirked at his old friend Nanaki. "Of course it's not a problem! Yer' an old friend, and Cosmo Canyon is right next to Rocket Town! Hell, even if it wasn't I'd give you a ride. Anything for a good friend." The captain said with a warm smile. Putting his hands on his side, the captain was ready to make his leave with Nanaki, when suddenly that guy who was dressed like Cloud actually mentioned there old friend, and Tifa! Cid smirked, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow, not before shooting Nanaki a quick glance. He then put his attention on the man who looked like Cloud.
"Actually, we're both good friends of Cloud. Don't tell me you know ol' spike?" The skilled pilot said with a chuckle. "To be honest, I was wondering about your outfit and sword. It's the exact same get up he had three years ago when we all traveled together." Cid said with a smirk. He was happy to meet a friend of Clouds, and was interested to hear his story. However, they didn't have time for that, as things were about to get hectic.
The wolf like Turk suddenly got a phone call. Taking it, he walked back up to them, asking Cid about his ship. Raising his eyebrows, Cid nodded. "Yeah...the Shera is my ship. Why?" He asked. Explaining the situation, apparently the turks were planning on setting them up! After everything Cid and Nanaki did for the planet, these crooks were trying to set them up! And worst of all, they were heading for Cid's ship! Clinching his fist, Cid jumped up a bit.
"What the hell do you mean they're going after my $!!!$ ship?!" The captain yelled. He was pissed, and for good reason! Nobody touched Cids ship unless he said so, and these Turk jerks thought they were going to bait them with HIS ship?! Hell no! Having to calm himself down, Cid listened to what the Turk had to say. Honestly, he didn't seem like a bad guy, actually trying to help them. Cid could hear the sounds of helicopters, knowing other Turks would show up soon. Deciding to listen, Cid nodded at him, before looking at Nanaki. "Come on, let's get in the alley then. We can figure all this out once we have an opening..." He said. Cid may have been a bit hotheaded, but he could be a rational thinker when he had too, possessing many qualities a good leader needed.
Walking into the alley, he waited for Nanaki, and instantly eavesdropped on the conversation. "Turk HQ fell?" He said to Nanaki under his breath. As he listened, the other Turk eventually left, as they split into groups, and the wolf like Turk came back to them.
Listening to what he had to say, Cid decided that he really was a good guy, and despite what was happening, he was going to trust him. Taking a few steps forward, Cid crossed his arms and looked ahead. He was ready to grab his spear at any given moment, but for now he would simply follow this Turk. He knew how to get back to his ship, but only in the most obvious path, which they would be waiting at. Looking at Nanaki he nodded, then looking back at the Turk, Cid gave him a trusting look.
"Lead the way, pal. All I know is we better get to my ship before it's too late, or I WILL cause some problems for those lying %!$#! turks!" Cid said, glaring in the distance. He didn't appreciate them using them as excuses, and wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was an inside job. Waiting for him to move on, Cid stayed alert, keeping his eyes peeled for anything. Nanaki smiled in response to Cid's reply. Much like Cid Highwind, Nanaki would do anything for his friends too. He was with them through thick and thin if they ever needed his help. Sure, he didn't have an opposable thumb and couldn't stand on his hind legs all that often but he was a good help when it was called for. He was a friend one could rely on. "Thank you, Cid." He had nodded his head in thanks before his attention turned back onto the brunette from before.
Tilting his head curiously, he heard the other ask them if they knew Cloud and Tifa. Nanaki took a quick glance in Cid's direction. Obviously, this man did know Tifa and Cloud. Looking back at Zack, Red XIII inclined his head to confirm that he knew them and was friends of their's.
Red XIII inclined his head again when Cid mentioned how the other reminded them of Zack. They did indeed have the same get up, well had seeing as Cloud now wore different clothing. Nanaki was about to ask him who he was when the turk wolf returned to their midst again and spoke to them. Confused, Nanaki listened to what he was saying. Like them, he didn't know why they were being searched for but it had to be something serious. Glancing over at Cid, Nanaki sighed. "Why it is we who are always blamed for things others have done when it concerns Shinra?" he stated.
With his past record, Nanaki wouldn't be surprised if they even went as far as searching Cosmo Canyon for him. That meant for the sakes of the villagers, that he'd have to stay away for a while. He glanced in Cid's direction again when the captain responded to the idea of the Turks trying to impound his airship. No way was he going to allow that to happen. Cid loved that airship like it were his own child. Nanaki knew nothing, not even Sephiroth himself could keep Cid away from the Shera.
While the Turk wolf suggested they head into the alley and hide, Nanaki looked up at the tall brunette. "Not that I am trying to get you involved. I am grateful for your help earlier but would you please accompany us? I feel it might be a good idea seeing as they might have set you up as well and it would be to our regret if you should end up arrested because of us." Nanaki didn't speak often but he did when he felt there was a need to. Like right now, he felt this man should go with them just in case he had been framed too. Red XIII would feel so ashamed if this nice man got blamed for something none of them had done and for having known them.
He turned his head when Cid finally looked over at him and spoke. Nodding his head, Nanaki followed the rest into the alleyway. Seeing as the turk had suggested he conceal his tail, that was what Nanaki did. Instead of using a box to cover his burning tail tip, which would've caused a fire, Nanaki hid it under a tin can as best he could while sitting in front of it to hide it from view in the shadows. He perked his animal ears to listen to what was going on. Apparently, Turk HQ had been blown up by some sort of bomb and they were instantly suspected of it. "Indeed, the Weapons development building specifically!" he added in a low tone of voice. Nanaki had better hearing so it wasn't too difficult to hear what was said on the phone.
Red XIII trusted the turk for now. It was clear that he was assisting them and not trying to sell them out for his own gain. He sensed no intentions of betrayal from him. Glancing up at Cid, Nanaki nodded his head as well as looking over at Zack and nodding before looking back at the Turk as he instructed them what to do next. They were to make haste in the direction of the Shera. Nanaki just hoped they would make it in time. If not, well Nanaki would put up a grand fight if he had to.
"Thank you!" he said to the turk. Finally, now was the time to set off. As they did, Red XIII was careful to hide his tail as best he could as they moved. Careful to make sure a friend was walking on the side of it to block it from view. Fire wasn't hard to find and neither was he hard to find but seeing as the fire was much easier to spot, Red made sure he stayed as inconspicuous as possible.
