::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” Zack just kept quiet and wondered what the hell was going on as Cid, Nanaki and Raze talked it out. Really it didn't concern him, he didn't know them and they didn't know him, it would probably just be best to fade off into the background and let them deal with the problem. The bad thing was that Zack could never do that. Having honor, dignity and pride had been drilled into his head since he was a young boy, and this was definitely one of those times that someone had a problem. He couldn't just walk away, what if someone had helped him back when he had been running from the Army? He might have made it out alive from that situation if someone had, so he couldn't turn his back on anyone else because of that.
It was all moving fast, hard to keep up except that he was used to having to keep up with crazy events that had been thrown in rapid succession. It was what being in SOLDIER had been all about. If he hadn't been good at that sort of thing he would have drowned in ShinRa. Like that one SOLDIER 3nd class he had helped when he had wimped out and started pouting. Being the nice guy he was Zack had gone on his missions for him, but the guy never really had manned up, and thus he had quit ShinRa pretty quickly after that. He was as shocked as they were when he heard the news about Turk headquarters falling. “The hell?!” he burst out finally, did that mean Reno, Rude, Cissnei, Tseng and the rest were hunting them as well? Damn it he had Reno's word that he would never let himself be involved with anyone that was a friend of...wait...he didn't know who these guys were though. It was Turk headquarters, it couldn't fall! Or at least, he didn't think so. Turks could never be completely stopped, it was like SOLDIER. Yeah you could kill a few, but eventually it would all come back to haunt you.
The Turk suggested they hid and Zack hesitated, unsure of whether to follow them or just walk away. This wasn't any of his business anyway. He stood there, hands on his hips as his mako infused eyes skipped from the turk back to Cid and Nanaki. He was sold when Cid asked about how he knew Cloud and Nanaki asked him to come with. “Sure I'll come and help out. Once this is all over I'll tell you how I know Cloud.” With a nod he followed them into the alleyway. He hated hiding! If it was up to him he'd just go face off and charge in sword swinging, but then again, the last time he had done that he had been killed. So maybe just waiting it out was alright, though he would rather be doing some action. Nanaki hid his tail and Zack stood for a moment before pacing around a bit, hands behind his head. He wasn't so good at this whole hiding thing, he was way to hyper to sit still for longer then he needed to. "All this waiting...I hate it."
Finally he went and stood with his back to the wall and bent his leg so that it rested up against the wall. If he had to wait this out he would at least do it in style. The waiting was hard, at least for him. Though the Turks weren't his best friends, he found himself worrying for the three he knew well and liked. Reno was probably upset with the situation, he would be if he was in the same situation. But wait...he had promised not to go up against any of Cloud's friends! He needed some answers and he wasn't getting any. He almost flipped out his phone to call his pal, but decided against it.
They could track the blasted thing, and the last thing they needed was the Turks finding them. He didn't want a fight on his hands, though he would swear that Reno wouldn't fight them. He shrugged as the Turk said they should follow him. Pushing himself back off the wall, Zack readjusted his sword and nodded, “Lead the way.” It was odd, him not having a big part of the talking role. It was a little out of his comfort zone, being the one listening and barely adding anything, but hey, there was a first time for anything. He found he rather liked the man with the foul language, and didn't doubt the guy would bring hell to any that ruined his airship. So with a smile, he cracked his knuckles and set out after them, long legs finding an easy stride as he did so. Words: 930 Muse: good Notes: Surprisingly Zack can ACTUALLY keep his mouth shut sometimes rofl

His ears flicked backward, and he became well aware that the others were following him. Feeling relieved, and somewhat pleased, that they trusted him; he set about navigating the mass of twisted alleyways. This place was full of such spaces between buildings, and rubbish smell had him gagging the entire way. But it would be faster this way, even if it was unpleasant. He was rather irritated when he walked into a massive spider web, and spent a few seconds brushing the stuff off while he kept moving along the shadowy path. So far, everything seemed Ok.
Then a massive fence rose up in front of him; blossoming out of the surrounding darkness; steel sparkling coldly in the dim light of dying lamps. Without hesitating, he leapt at the nearest building wall; a fairly sturdy, wooden structure. He had made such climbs before, it wasn't that hard. His clawed hands slowly carved handholds into the wood, and he would place his shoes in these openings as he climbed. Also, if the group following him was wise enough, they would know to avoid climbing the fence. The noise the old steel gate would make may attract attention. These handholds he was creating for himself may provide a way for his followers to get up and over the fence soundlessly.
But that hope was wiped away with relief as he reached the roof top. There just happened to be a rope latter in a debris pile; most likely it had once been used in a children's playground. He grasped the thing, and swung it over the edge of the building. After a moment of concentrated work, he had secured it to some nails sticking out of the building. The Hybrid pulled his Turk bar from his utility belt, and ran the nails more securely into the structure. But he merely pressed; he didn't dare use the bar like a hammer. Too much noise would occur. Finished with his work, he returned the bar to his belt, and tugged experimentally on it and the nails it was attached to. ""It should hold... He said in a soft voice to the group below.
Then he retreated from the edge of the building, shooting a nervous glance at the sky, and leapt lightly back into the alleyway below, on the other side of the fence. Landing in a crouch on all fours, his shoes made little noise in contact with the ground. He pointed over his shoulder, gazing at the others; a nonverbal signal to say that he would wait just down the alleyway. Then he spun around and jogged into the shadows.
It wasn't long before he reached the end of the path, a sort of intersection. Another building rose up before him, and on either side the alleyway continued on into darkness. Just over this building... That was where the Shera remained. No noise of people greeted his ears, so he could only assume that the ship was untouched; for now.
The Mutt ran at the building, clambering not completely silently up a rusty, old, emergency escape ladder. He came to a halt on the flattened point at the very top of the triangular roof. He crouched up there, all four legs spread evenly across the narrow flat top; tail swishing slowly to keep his balance. There it was, the ship was almost directly below him; half-hidden in shadow. The nose lifted to the sky, twitching as he tried to detect a trace of hostile forces. It was quiet for now.
But then a certain smell did reach him, and his ears twitched backward, slightly to the right. The sound he heard made his breath freeze in his throat. He heard breathing, and smelled human. A familiar human scent... The head shot to the right, crimson eyes glaring at the shady figure crouched behind a dumpster; and looking down the alleyway from when the hybrid had come. Nocturnal eyes allowed him to only just make out the uniform the man wore; he was a Turk. Not just a Turk, but one of Raze's few Turk best friends. The guy had his phone out, and was feverishly typing up a text message. Obviously, he could see the fence and the group just behind it.
Raze silently cursed himself. He had been too distracted by the prospect of reaching the ship to notice the guy. And he had probably seen Raze himself talking to the Targets, leading them. That suspicion was made fact as the guy shot a nervous glance up at the wolf-man on the roof. There was the light of pain from betrayal shining in the guy's eyes.
There was no choice... The hybrid could not allow the message to be sent out. His hand moved of its own accord to his belt, drawing out one of the small guns. The hand was sturdy, it didn't even shake as the muted gun barrel aimed at the Turk's chest. He pressed the trigger, and his ears exploded as the blast rang out. Even muted, a firearm was still fairly loud; and double that loud to his ears... That was why he hated using guns.
He watched his former friend's eyes widen in shock and agony as the bullet hit; the phone tumbled with a clatter to the stone floor of the alleyway. Raze felt weak as he scrambled back down the ladder; his legs shook as his weight fell on them once they reached the ground. He steadied himself against the wall briefly, returning his gun to its holster at the same time. The Mutt stumbled to his fallen friend, leaning over the man with sorrow glistening in his eyes. The green eyes stared into his own crimson ones, full of hate. Then the green ones glazed over, and the trembling man grew still.
Raze knew he had no time to mourn, or to think of his future at that. He had just shot and killed another Turk; there was no way he'd be able to return to the organization now. He stooped over and picked up the phone, body growing stiff and stronger as the trembling halted. A stream of profanity hissed from his mouth as the words appeared on the phone screen. "Message sent."
Raze spun around as he stood, and called down the alleyway. "Guys, we'd better hurry. We've just lost the element of surprise. All of Shin-ra remnants and Turks will soon know what has just happened, and my role in it..." His voice trailed off as he waited for the others to arrive. They needed to get over the building on and on the ship fast...
And the Hybrid would probably have no choice but to tag along with them. Hopefully, they would allow him to accompany them. But he was now ex-Turk, and the realization of that had yet to crash over him. Right now, he felt stuck in limbo; things seemed to be moving in slow motion. Yet his body remained strong, and his gaze remained intense and determined. it wasn't over... Not just yet...
ooc: T^T Awwww.. My dear Raze.... *huggles*

Smiling at Nanaki and Zack, Cid followed after Raze. He wasn't as scared as most people would be in a situation like this. In fact, he was ready for any trouble that might happen. He'd like to see the turk that could take down Cid Highwind, let alone when he had a friend like Nanaki with him. And he had a feeling this Zack guy was no slouch either. Feeling confident in his and his allies skills, Cid continued after Raze, ready to seize back his airship.
The thought kept crossing Cid's mind. He was livid at the thought of those troublemakers poking around inside of the Shera. He knew the crew would tell them they couldn't touch it either, and would probably be attacked by the Turks in order to get on the ship. Now, his crew was the best crew around and Cid would trust only them with his ship, but they were pilots, not fighters. If anything happened to them, Cid was ready to kick ass if he had to. Scowling, he continued along.
Eventually they reached a fence. Once Raze climbed up to the top and tinkered around, he obviously wanted the group to follow him. Looking at Nanaki and Zack, the skilled pilot crossed his arms and smirked. Scratching his chin, he took a few steps back. "Have fun with that you two, I'll see ya' on the other side!" He said with a grin.
With that, Cid took a running start and jumped, going high in the air and right over the fence. Landing on a tuft of grass, Cid made no noise upon impact with the ground. Staying crouched for a moment, he saw Raze near a dead Turk. Cid knew he was helping them, but killing one of his own? It seemed like he could have taken other possible action, but Cid held his tongue, even if he was disgusted.
Standing up, the captain adjusted himself, when Raze ran up and gave them a warning. Great, now they knew where they were. Cracking his neck, Cid reached back and grabbed his spear, holding onto it just in case they had to deal with anybody attacking them, and judging from what Raze said, that just might be the case soon.
"I just want to make sure my ship is safe, hurry up guys..." Cid said, sounding a bit stressed. Reaching up with his free hand, he pulled a cigarette out from the pack strapped in his goggles, placing it in his mouth and then lighting it. Leaning against his spear, he smoked in an attempt to calm down. Once Zack and Nanaki made it over, they would head out. And Cid wanted nothing in the world to make sure his crew and ship were safe. Red XIII was relieved that the tall human with the dark hair agreed to come along. How this guy knew Cloud, Nanaki was eager to find out but not now. Turks looking for them all over Edge, it was far too risky to stick around for much longer and chat. "Thank you, I am relieved!" he replied to Zack's agreement in coming along.
Once in the alley, he could hear the human's movements next to him. Apparently, he was the antsy type, the type that couldn't stick in one place for long. As the tall male grumbled, Nanaki struggled to keep his tail hidden from view. The last thing they needed was his tail giving them away because of its light. By the time the wolf Turk had returned and lead them on, Red XIII was eager to be rid of these streets. He didn't enjoy fighting with the Turks even though they weren't much of a match against he and the group gathered here.
Further down the alley, they discovered a steel fence in their path. Gazing up at it with his only good eye, Nanaki didn't look the slightest annoyed. In fact, this wasn't anything for him to really worry about. He could jump but nothing like Cid Highwind whom was the best leaper out of them.
Red XIII observed how Raze had clambered up the wall and over it, leaving footholds for another two legged. Being what he was, there was no possible way for Nanaki to clamber on the wall like the turk wolf just did. So, instead, he backed up. "Make way!" he warned, backing up a bit more before running at break neck speed. Jumping to the right wall, Nanaki pushed off with his legs to propel himself towards the left wall. Upon touching the left wall, he pushed himself upwards to the right, repeating this a few times before reaching a high enough point to dive over the steel fence and landing on the other side, crouched.
Tail swaying a bit, Nanaki shook himself a bit before silently following the rest. He paused, covering his ears at the sudden sound of gunfire. Looking over, he saw what the wolf Turk had actually done. He had shot a fellow Turk! Something that was quite unheard of. Whenever this sort of thing happened, Turks were disposed of quietly and behind the scenes. Just what had Raze been thinking? Noting the cell phone, Nanaki could see that the Turk must've been reporting them. Well, the cat was out of the bag now, wasn't it?
Hearing Raze speak up, Nanaki sighed. Yes, now they were going to really have to make a break for it. Looking about at the others, he nodded when Cid spoke up. Nothing would stop Cid Highwind from getting to the Shera. Any Turks that got in their way were going to find out they were not a group to tangle with.
"Then let us make haste before it is too late." With that said, Nanaki made a swift nod before making a dash forward, surprisingly moving silently despite his size.

::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” Zack continued to follow them, checking over his shoulder, protecting the back in case of attack. He wasn't used to following, after all, in SOLDIER he had usually led. Amazingly he dropped into back position quite easily. Sword remained where it usually was, on his back and he kept a sharp eye around them. No telling what would come out from the shadows at any point. In his business you couldn't afford to not keep watch. He had learned that the hard way with all his blunders as a 2nd class SOLDIER, back before he had gotten any kind of watchfulness in fighting. He had learned from his mistakes though, and with the mentoring of Angeal Hewley he had become a machine build completely for fighting. “No thanks necessary, I kinda wanted to tag along anyway.”
When they got to the fence Zack just smiled. This was a piece of cake compared to what he normally did. But he turned and made one more sweep as the other two got themselves over the fence. What Cid said made him smile and shake his head, but he didn't say anything as Nanaki got over the fence. Turning then, he smiled. “My turn.” Backing up a few steps, Zack started with a few running strides and when he was a few feet from the wall he pushed off. With his left hand he grasped the top of the fence and used that leverage to swing his legs clear of the fence. Dropping down on the other side, Zack bent his legs to absorb the landing before standing back up. “Oh yeeeaah.”
Reaching a hand up to run through his hair, Zack suddenly saw what everyone else had seen. His face whitened a shade and his mouth dropped open. HELL! He stood rooted on the spot and just stared at the man who had just been shot by his own team. Zack was close to loosing it on Raze. He then found himself and strode toward Raze, his blue eyes narrowed and angry. One of this own! Sure they guy would have called it in, but had killing him gotten them anywhere?! No, because they were still now going to be attacked. Zack was laid back and easygoing for the most part, but this was one thing he hated. Turning on your own team, even if it was to help someone...it was traitorous, and he wouldn't stand for it.
He was surprised that the other two hadn't said anything. He didn't care if they came for them, because now, because of Raze's actions, Zack realized something. They might have been able to get off of this before, but now...now Raze had just sealed their death warrants. The Turks never stopped hunting when one of their own went down. He knew that quite well, and now a Turk had been killed in the hands of the man that was helping THEM. He barely heard Cid as he spoke about needing to go quickly. He didn't hear Raze clearly either. All he was hearing was words that had been repeated to him more times then he could count. “If you want to be a hero...you need to have dreams...and honor! Dreams and honor...dreams and honor. Protect your SOLDIER honor. Whatever happens, protect your honor, as SOLDIER!” it was repeating itself over and over in his mind.
That was when he got to Raze. “What the hell did you just do? Do you really think that helped what you just did?!” He knew they had to leave, but he wasn't letting him just get away with that. “Before they had a chance, a chance to talk ourselves out of what ShinRa were pinning on them. But now? Now we're all three just going to be targets because of you!” Zack was livid, he hadn't been this angry since Sephiroth had burned down Neibelheim. He couldn't just let it go. “Don't you have any honor?” He was disgusted, but he realized that now they needed Raze. Though Cid had been able to hold his tongue, Zack couldn't, he was disgusted and he was going to tell Raze. But that was the end of it...for now.
“Whatever damn it, lets go.” He sent a glare Raze's way and unclenched his hands, which had been made into fists. He pivoted on his foot and went after Nanaki, his teeth clenched and blue eyes snapping. But he relaxed a bit after he got moving, the exercise helping him to not think, instead he could focus on the next stride, the next event, and with that in mind he lengthened out his stride until he was jogging. That was the problem with Zack. In SOLDIER you were trained to fight, not think, and when he had started thinking more then he should have they had killed him. He had more pride and honor then most because it had been pounded into his head, and this went against everything he had ever stood for. Going up against one of your own... He could already start to feel himself breaking as he stared down at the corps, at a loss for words. he said nothing as the others reached him; at least until the raven-haired guy decided to lecture him. He spun around, sudden uncontrollable fury pounding through his veins. He longed to lunge at the guy, he wanted to rip the man's head off...
It was with difficulty that he remained stationary. Hair was sticking up all over his neck now, the pupils were narrowed to slits. Fangs were bared, and a slight dribble of saliva hung from his mouth. Ears were flat to his skull, face distorted by a snarl. His voice rose slightly, trembling.
"What have I Done?!" He hissed, barely allowing time for him to draw breath. "I bought us time... Do you think it was easy for me to fire on my comrade?! Not just a comrade, the closest thing to family I have?! I probably have more honor than you!" He turned his head away, refusing to meet the man's gaze again. It was too much of a risk for him to make eye contact now; it was a feral animal tactic of a challenge. "Forget it..." His spat, "You've never had to destroy a friend because it was merely necessary..." He flipped open the phone that was still in his hand and searched the message archive. He found the one that had forced his gun to aim at his Turk friend.
"Headquarters, I have located the Targets. I am tailing them now, and I believe another Turk; codename Raze, is helping them. They are very near the ship, immediate action is necessary. Send the choppers now."
Raze shoved the phone into the dark-haired guy's hand, still not making eye contact. "Read it....!" He growled softly, "I didn't want to do that, but if I hadn't, helicopters would already be above us now, and there would be hell as more death came. I doubt the Targets would have gone quietly to be charged for a crime they didn't commit..."
He brushed past Zack, returning to the roof he had been on a moment before. He could barely climb on weak knees and almost fell from the ladder twice. Looking back down at the targets, he said in a pained voice, "Your ship, Cid..." The hand pointed unsteadily at the ground on the other side of the building.
He waited for them to get to the roof, struggling to not fall into misery. But the constant echo of gunfire in his ears was enough to not let him ignore the situation. He looked down at Cid, and opened his mouth to speak. The maw closed a second later as he choked back his words. He wasn't going to crawl begging to the Captain, asking if he could tag along with them. But he had nowhere else to go; nothing left to do. No wasn't the time to fall victim to pride.
Opening his mouth again, he managed to speak through his constricted throat. "May I come with you?" he asked, "I'm finished here. Obviously, my Turk career is over." Despite the sinking feeling in his stomach as he asked these words; one feeling dominated the rest in his gut. Airship meant flying. Flying was his worst nightmare. He was a beast of the ground, and flying nearly always made him dreadfully ill. But it was the only option laid before him now. Try to go with the Targets, and suck it up when he got airsick.

Already stressed from everything that was already happening, hearing Zack and Raze start arguing was the final straw. Taking one last puff of his cigarette, Cid threw it to the ground, and the fatherly figure stormed over to the two of them, standing right between them and holding both arms out at them, his eyes growing wide.
Both of you can shut yer' $!#@&! mouths right now! Arguing and pointing fingers like a bunch of damn KIDS isn't gonna solve a damn thing! Both of you need to focus on the #!&?! problem at hand! The damn Turks are after us! We can stand around hootin' and hollerin' all we #!?&%!? want, but all that's gonna do is get us discovered faster!" He said, clearly angry and stressed from everything that was going on. It wasn't that the pilot was trying to be mean, he just didn't need another fight between people who were trying to help each other.
Letting out a sigh, Cid stomped ahead. As Raze crawled up a ladder, he looked down at Cid, asking if he could join them. Cid looked down and clinched his fist. He knew damn well he was the only one who could get them out of here...And damnit, he couldn't just leave someone to die. Turk or not. Looking back up at him, Cid narrowed his eyes. "I won't leave you to die...But damnit, we'll talk about it later." He said. The captain was feeling stress, anger, and pressure now, and he just couldn't wait for this situation to be over.
Taking the ladder, it wasn't time for anything fancy, and he simply grasped it, looking up, before looking over at Nanaki. "Come on, Nanaki. I'll help you up." He said, holding a hand out to the intelligent beast. He knew it would be a challenge to climb up a ladder for someone without hands. So he waited, ready to get to the roof and out of this situation.

Nanaki could never see himself do anything of that nature to a friend. Even if he was helping someone out, he would never turn on his friends. In turn, Red XIII also knew that Cloud and the others would understand if things turned out wrong. He knew and had faith enough that he would be able to talk sense into them. Well, except maybe Yuffie. That girl tended to never listen when someone talked to her seriously.
Seeing as their situation was dire on time alone, Nanaki hadn't bothered to open his mouth to speak. He figured that the wolf turk had been helping them enough as it is. It would be rude and impolite of him to argue at this point since he had even gone as far as murdering one of his own for their cause.
Suddenly, the tall male with the dark hair started arguing with the turk wolf. Honestly, Nanaki couldn't blame him. It was rather shocking and everyone reacted differently to situations presented to them. Where Nanaki didn't like disloyalty, he didn't argue. He knew right now their time was short before the Shera was captured or they were.
The argument between them grew to the point where Nanaki was certain the two would probably exchange actual blows. Seeing as either finally dismissed one another, even after Cid got himself involved with his colorful display of his English dictionary, Nanaki grew somewhat relieved that it had stopped. Still, he was sure things might spark up again later as he glanced then over his shoulder at Zack.
They all came upon a ladder and the wolf turk clambered up it first, indicating Cid's airship was on the other side. Seeing as they had to climb a ladder, Nanaki looked at the structure apprehensively. Where a dog could be trained to climb these things, Nanaki was much larger in bulk. There was a chance he would slip and maybe fall. Looking around, he saw the wall nearby wasn't near enough for him to use as leverage to try and reach the rooftop by leaping.
"Um...how do you...two leggeds do that?" he questioned, glancing between Raze, Cid, and then Zack.
Then, to his relief, Cid Highwind spoke to him. Glancing up at his friend with his only eye, Red XIII heard that Cid would help him up along the way. "Thank you. I was unsure how I would get up alone." With that, Nanaki set his first paws onto the metal structure, extending his right paw up for Cid to grasp as he did so.

::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” After Zack had talked he had thought that'd be the end of it, though of course not. As he went to move away the voice from the Turks hissed out at him. He stopped and turned around then, trying to remain calm and level headed, which wasn't exactly his strong point. Clenched fists were a tribute to that. He didn't care what the reasoning was behind it, he had killed a comrade, someone they could have avoided killing. Sure they would have had to do something, but killing him? It was taking it a step over the line. Now, Zack realized this wasn't the time or place, but he had always had a hard time keeping his emotions and thoughts in check. Tact wasn't one of his strong points either. “You made us targets!” Was what he retorted back when Raze told him that he had boughten time.
He was just standing there with his fists clenched, trying to count to ten and not respond, when the Turk had to go and say he had more honor then Zack did. Hell no he hadn't just gone there. “You know nothing about me! Even if you knew who I was, all you would have read was a file!” Zack had had honor drilled into his head his entire life, but especially his years in SOLDIER. Angeal would roll over in his grave if he had heard what this guy had said. He was about so say something more, but all his anger went out of him when Raze made the comment. Zack had more honor then most people, and besides, the crack about him never having to destroy a friend. He probably understood better then anyone. He took a step back physically and emotionally, the pain flashing in his blue depths. That was when Cid came between them.
Zack mutely stared at Raze, his eyes clouded a bit, barely hearing as Cid yelled at them both. He was reliving the memories, first Genesis, and then Sephiroth, even Angeal. He had had to kill his mentor, his father figure. The damn Turk didn't know anything about him. He remembered the words clearly as he had backed away the first time from Angeal's attack. He had backed away, refusing to fight his mentor, that had been the day he had realized a lot, and he had known that day. Like it or not, he would have to go up against Angeal, and he would have to beat him. Arms went slack as he stood there, dumbly looking at Cid as he yelled at them, finally the words could actually be heard as he snapped out of his thinking. Having respect and honor drilled into your head went a long ways, and when Cid stepped in Zack wasn't going to go up against him.
He didn't regret saying anything though, and he looked up to see that Raze wasn't looking at him. Fine by him, he might have just been set off again if he had. Still, he realized more then ever how bad of a time this was to blow up at Raze. He got ahold of his thoughts and crossed his arms, standing firmly on his two feet. The phone was shoved into his hand and though he grasped it, he wasn't sure if he wanted to read it. Of course, he knew what it was going to say, or the gist of it. Eyes dropped down and he saw what was written, but at this point, he didn't care either way. He had his opinions, but Cid was right, this wasn't the time. Shoving the cell phone back into the Turk's hands, he crossed his own again.
As Raze brushed by him, Zack couldn't resist saying one more thing, only his voice was calmer now. “It didn't help now did it. Either way, him dead or alive, that message got through. Think about that. before you tell me it was necessary.” If there way any way, ANY way other then killing a comrade, why not do it? The message had gotten through, so killing him obviously hadn't helped. Zack's usually large heart had steeled over toward the Turk, his eyes were cool. Yet he remembered how he had felt after killing Angeal, crushed, but that had been different! Angeal had forced him to, there was no other option other then be killed himself. And he hadn't wanted to do it! But he had had to, for SOLDIER, for honor, to gain Angeal's honor back, he had forced Zack to fight him...but was that really so different? Shaking his head, Zack followed, wondering now if this would be his life once again. Running, hiding, trying to get away? All because of the actions of one Turk? Had he come back to life simply to be hunted down again? Well he wasn't going out without a fight! Target or not, he was going to make it out of this. He followed them up the ladder and crouched on the rooftop, blue eyes watching as Cid helped Nanaki up. If only....things hadn't gone like they had...

Oh hell no... The man had NOT just gone that far... He spun around, completely forgetting about Cid's earlier words. He was now officially shaken to the core. He could feel the cloud of Depression falling all around him, he was probably never going to be happy again. But that wouldn't stop his next words to this black-haired, human scumbag in front of him.
"First of all, you are not a Target. You never were. AND you chose to come with me and the other two. You didn't have to get involved, and you still aren't. YOU can walk away right now, you know. I can't, and neither can Cid or Red XIII. Why don't you do just that? Then I won't have to deal with your arrogant little human mind..."
"Second, I'm not some all powerful beast thing, no matter what you believe. I was on the Damn roof!!! I couldn't exactly get down in time to knock the man unconscious. The only way that there would be any chance of getting us some time was by stopping him, only way to do that was to shoot. YOU were too busy with your little acrobatics over the fence to get the guy in time."
"Third, you are right on one point, shockingly. I don't know you. Same thing on my part. You know nothing about me. You have no earthly idea what I've been through, what sort of hell I've lived through. Have you ever lost everything worth living for? Have you lost all all trace of family? Have you joined a group that was your closest family, only to bring down one of them? Have you ever had your entire life snatched away from you, only to get it back screwed up? Have you suffered the agony of Extreme Mako Poisoning? Have you been changed in a monstrous thing that doesn't belong in human society? Did you watch your last surviving family member murder herself in front of your face, simply out of fear of what you've become? Have you struggled to remain in society, tried to earn a place in it? Have you spent your life as some science experiment, as nothing but a slave to some larger organization? Have you lost all your freedom? All your friends? How many times have you stared Death in the face, and welcomed the coming doom; only to be rescued by some amateur? Have you ever lost all trace of hope, with no possible chance of getting that hope back? Have you even felt pure despair before? I think not..."
His voice had been rising through this entire monologue. He was practically shrieking, probably damaging his own vocal cords, by the last 'Have you ever'. Here he was, pouring out his life's worst nightmares to some guy who was making him angrier than he had even thought possible... Was this what it was like to be lost forever? To drown in plain hopelessness? He was seeing red... His hands itched to claw at the guy's face... To make him suffer the same agony that he himself had suffered all his life? And what was that damn wet stuff he could feel on his face?! Ah yes.. Tears... Something that had never come from his eyes before...
He was finally breaking. It was... Too much... Horrific memories were bubbling to the surface of his mind, his eyes were glazed over and wet as he watched his sister shoot herself again. He saw the look of his nearly gone Mother, her gaze boring into his; making him promise to always care for his sister once she was gone. He saw his father leaving for the last time; leaving to follow Genesis to his doom. He saw his brother being ripped to shreds by Monsters. He saw the satisfied faces of scientists as they stared at him through the test tube glass.
No... He wouldn't let himself give up... He had to keep going, keep moving foreward... But the pain from overused throat, his disorientation, the falling depression, the momeries... It proved too much for his now frail self to handle... His body just gave up... He felt himself fall, slumped against a chimney on the roof. his legs didn't want to move. All he wanted now, was for the earth to open and swallow him up, or something. He wanted an end to his suffering... It was far too much...
It wasn't the first time he had seriously considered taking his own life. Actually, this was the fourth or fifth time. His violently shaking hand tremulously retrieved the gun he hadn't used tonight. He merely held it, muzzle aimed at the sky as he inspected. His life was over anyway, why not end all the pain now? Before things got worse... He cocked the weapon, barrel still aiming at the clouds above. But the weapon would now fire the moment he pulled the trigger. His clouded eyes gazed at the cold metal in his hands. He could end it now... No one would care. He had never been worth living. He had no purpose to fill, unlike others. Besides, if he shot himself, that would provide enough distraction for the Turks; it would certainly give enough time to Cid and Red XIII to escape. The firearm trembled as he held it tighter. Yes... He would do more good when he was dead, rather than alive.
ooc: OMFG... MY RAZE!!!! I swear, I'm about to cry. T^T *clings to Raze*
