Just another day…
Of course Zack didn’t view it as simply another day. Who could when they had been raised from being dead? It wasn’t exactly an every day thing for that to happen. Now he counted every day as something unique, never taking life for granted. He couldn’t, especially with the knowledge of what was going to come still. Cloud being a l’cie changed a lot of things. He couldn’t simply settle down, marry Aerith and buy a home somewhere. What if it was true and Cloud really had to destroy the world…? That took the chance of life away from everyone.
But that was why they were here, to help him through it. Cloud had been keeping a stiff upper lip pretty damn well, although lately something had seemed to get to him, more so then the attack Sephiroth had done against him. The fact that they were both still alive was in itself a miracle. He had been pretty worried about Cloud when he had first shown up, but Cloud had recovered fast, and now it wasn’t a secret between them. Still now it felt like something else was up. Something…no…someone. And that someone wasn’t Sephiroth.
Maybe Cloud would tell him, although when he got in this mood Zack usually let him talk to him about it. Prying wouldn’t help, it would just make him not want to say anything, and he respected Cloud’s thoughts. He had more on his plate then anyone he knew, when could the guy ever get a break? He felt horrible that he had to go through this.
Footsteps sounded in as he walked down the deserted road that had once winded proudly into Gongaga. He had come here to think, to get away from life for a little bit, plus he hadn’t gone to Gongaga in a long time. Maybe he could find the grave’s of his parents. He felt horrible that he hadn’t been here for them when they had died…maybe seeing their graves would make him be more at ease about the whole thing. But his mind strayed back on the matter at hand…was it ever going to end? Why had the fal’cie ever gotten a hold of access to their planet?!
