Beasts charged over the walls of the Nabradia fortress, roaring and snapping towards the humans and other races which inhabited it. They seemed like a canine race, white and gold with various steams coming from their form, along with sharp teeth and claws to boot. Though strangely enough these monsters had seemed to avoid and pass straight through the city, heading straight for the Royalty in the centre. Airships flew over and fired heavily down into the black wave of vicious creatures, though to avoid hitting their own troops they were less effective than what they could be, yet Rasler would not have it any other way. The safety and lives of his people were above all else. Soldiers with blades, spears, bows and rifles battle fiercely with the onslaught of unnamed animals. They had no name for them yet; they were not recognised in the nation of Ivalice as far as most could tell. Not to say they appeared out of no where, the monstrous fiends had been lightly plaguing the lands recently, though this was the first time such an at tack had taken place. As they clambered into the inside domain of the Nabradian fortress, they were met by even more steel, one belonging to the Prince of the nation, Rasler Heios Nabradia.
“Keep them at bay; make sure all the civilians within the castle are guarded in the hall. Servants and all!”
The Prince called out, as he marched forwards towards the creatures being pushed back by various Royal guards. Mages were preparing the shield to holding back more intruders, but from the report it seemed more beasts were keeping them occupied up there. In one smooth swoop Rasler drew the large blade at his hip, the blade of Dalmasca, and swung it at a launching beast. The blade pierced the creature in the strike, causing it to screech and wretch in pain as it hit the ground beside him. Rasler muttered to himself to regain composure, before raising his sword and charging into the enemy beasts to join the lines of his men. Steel hacked down at the man eating monsters, thrusting and striking at every opening. Rasler found himself between two royal guards whom seemed to spend just as much time watching his safety as killing the attackers; they were certainly skilled that was for sure. It was tiring, his blade got heavier with every stroke, sweat and blood trickled down his cheek, but soon they would be victorious for now. As the shield went up, no more beasts found their way into the fortress, and soon no sign of them could be found within the city.
Rasler panted softly as he leant on the wall in the hallway, the guards were cleaning up the bodies and seeing to the wounded, and it was not long before a servant girl was wiping his face with a cloth and intently looking him over for wounds. The Prince had not realised it yet though, his mind was elsewhere. These beasts, what were they? Why here of all places? What was their intention? Many questions with the likelihood of few answers to accommodate them. Upon returning to his senses, Rasler placed hand on top of the girls head, giving his head a small shake with the slight creep of smile before drifting past her and striding quickly towards the hall. It was not long in his stride before he was joined by guards and advisors.
“Do we have clues to the basis behind this attack yet?”
Rasler asked, side glancing to an advisor at his side. The much older man replied. “Not exactly my Lord” The Prince quirked a brow.
“Not exactly?”
The advisor soon continued. “We are not exactly sure of the intent, though our belief, and from resources claims that he may be due to a …” He licked his lips as he looked for his words; perhaps even he knew it would sound quite strange. “… Collaboration of various worlds.”
Rasler stopped midstride to glance towards the old man. It took him a moment to process what he said, but Rasler was not a completely skeptical man.
“Various worlds? I had heard of queer occurrences arising around Ivalice…” The Prince gave his head a small shake as his hand grazed through his blonde spiked hair.
“Make sure the guardsmen are prepared for anything that may occur, there must be more to this…”
With that Rasler continued forward down the hall, his mind touching upon the insanity of the claim. Though it was not long before Ashelia was his main focus of thought, was the same thing occurring where she was as well? His pace quickened as he continued through the fortress, his determination driving to make sure not move lives were lost to this unknown danger.
