The house was silent apart from the some of someone humming, her tune was the one that a child, who’d fallen and hurt their knee, had been singing, it had stuck in her head ever since she helped the little boy. Her humming ceased as she heard a noise from outside the window. A quiet knock at the door drew her attention away from the window. She hadn’t been expecting anyone but then again as far as she knew only two people knew she was awake. Her son and Cloud. Oh and the child whose knee she cleaned. She walked over to the door and opened it, smiling when she seen the child from yesterday standing there with a flower. “This is for you Lucrecia, to say thank you for fixing my leg,” the boy handed her the floor as Lucrecia pushed open the door and invited him in so she could check his cut.
It was welcomed company, while she’d been working on the JENOVA Project she’d had constant company even if it wasn’t always the most pleasant of company. This brought her mind to an area of thought that she was keen to put out of her mind and forget about though it wasn’t happening her quickly.
Hojo.
Her hand curled tightly into a fist. If he was before her now she would hit him, possibly hurting herself in doing so but it would be worth it to know that he’d felt a fraction of the pain she’d felt. The woman bowed her head, she could feel the brush of her warm brown hair against her skin, framing her brown eyes, the golden material that held her hair back in its high ponytail seemed to catch the suns rays. Her heels made a soft clicking against the floor as she made her way to the bath room to get her little first aid kit.
It was her third day of freedom and the days had given her much time to ponder and pondered many things she has. Her son had been on her mind a lot lately, she’d learnt the full extent of what her son had done but she’d also learnt of his remnants. Did that make her their mother too? She’d met him. Sephiroth. He was handsome and nothing like his father in appearance which pleased her to no end. But that was not the main thing on her mind. Vincent was.
He’d been on her mind a lot lately, she wondered if he’d moved on and forgotten about her or whether he still loved her, so many questions that she didn’t have the answers too. She knelt down in front of the child, looking at his leg. “You’ve been scratching it haven’t you?” The boy laughed as Lucrecia looked up at him with a smile. “I’ll put a little bandage on it to stop you from scratching it.”
“Thank you Lucrecia.”
The boy smiled as Lucrecia wrapped the bandage around his knee, the tied it off then looked up. “There, that should do it. How about you show me around? It’s been a while since I was in Midgar.” The little boy seemed to be thrilled with this idea because he was soon on his feet and standing by her door, Lucrecia laughed and followed behind the child, walking out into the streets of Midgar.
Two hours later…
Lucrecia opened the door, stepping inside the little house she was staying in. Midgar was so different now, much had changed while she was sleeping with the crystal mako. She leaned back against the door as she closed it. Lucrecia couldn’t get Vincent off her mind, she’d spent the last two days looking for him but nothing…A soft sigh left her lips, maybe she wasn’t meant to find him…No, she refused to believe that, she was meant to find him she just had to be patient. He’d find her soon enough, a lot of people now knew her name, they’d met her and she’d heard them talking about her, surely he would too. The little boy was doing a very good job of making sure everyone knew she was in Midgar. He'd been telling everyone about how she was a Doctor and how she helped him. He'd also called her pretty on several occasions.
She hoped he would, she hoped he would find her again like he did before…
“Vincent where are you?” she whispered softly to herself.

It was true...
Midgar had changed.
In times for the better. But that often lead to the people who lived there and who would make the best out of the worst. Vincent was caught in between the said two feelings of treasure. Sighing, the darkened being moved through the streets. His gun hidden by his cloak as his face as nearly just as hidden. Expressionless as well as emotionless. There was no need. Things were fine of the day and people were well in the happy way of life.
That was always good. Right?
If so, then why wasn't Vincent happy? In fact, he rarely ever was. A small smile was all he was ever capable to give. The only being...the only person in the entire world that would crack more of a smile from his lips was that of..."Lucrecia..." He whispered as he felt his feet stop in mid walk. Other people dodging him and carried on.
His mind was at it again.
The woman... The one he was sent to guard. The one he had failed. "Dammit.." Vincent hissed and felt his hand muscles twinge at the thought of just punching a wall. If only he could get back at him. Ok...in technical standards, he did, but he still...still, it was never truly satisfied... Lucrecia still was cursed in a sense... And Vincent was just a love struck fool of a Turk. He sighed, calming himself down from those horrid memories of the great past. Hojo and all. He had no time for it. It seemed like that was all he did.. Blame the past...nearly forget the present.
However, with the words of a few locals as well as those of a young boy who had rushed passed Vincent caught his attention to the now. "What?" He huffed as he turned to see the boy continued to rush off to his own home. Something... the boy's words were.. did he say.. Lucrecia..? And she helped him? It would be the one thing Lucrecia was always known for doing. Helping others and doing whatever she could.. He had to investigate. Turning back and looking ahead, his crimson eyes caught sight of the building where the boy just ran from.
Perhaps there?
Moving forward, his gauntlet and shoes making the constant clanking noise of metal clashing with itself. His feet stopped at the door way, not knowing who truly resided inside. He planned to knock. His heart seemed to be like that of a storm. Was this truly her, or was this someone else with the same name...? It was hard to understand...but it was not entirely impossible... Still. His heart hoped while his mind stated logic that it would and should not be possible. But his mind was too late as his hand arched forward and gave three knocks on the door.

Lucrecia was lost in her own thoughts when the knock upon the door drew her abruptly from them, she jumped slightly as she stepped away from the door. Who could that be? It can’t be that little boy again…Can it? she thought to herself. Her pale hand reached out and slowly opened the door, her heart skipped a beat and her breath caught in her throat when she saw who was standing there. For a moment she thought her mind was playing cruel tricks upon her, creating illusions meant to torment her.
Her mouth opened as if to speak but she closed it again, words failed her and refused to form, her mind was all over the place. Lucrecia leaned gently into the door frame to try and keep her balance, she didn’t know what to say. Finding him was the reason she’d awoken and now that she had all words had forsaken her. Her delicate hand reached out and touched his arm gently, as if she were checking this wasn’t a dream, when her finger tips touched the material of his shirt she looked up at him. “Vincent…”
He was really here, in front of her. Tears came to her eyes as she looked at him, she gently touched his cheek and his hair before slowly drawing her hand back. Lucrecia stepped aside as she pushed the door open. “Come in,” all the words she’d thought of to say to him were forgotten, her mind was being cruel to her. Her heart was racing in her chest as she walked over to the couch and sat down, she wanted to embrace him and tell him how sorry she was for everything that had happened but thought better of it under the circumstances. This was the first time they’d seen each other in years, face to face at least.
She looked down at her hands, “I’ve been trying to find you but no-one could tell me where you were…” Lucrecia looked up at him then got to her feet and walked over to him, embracing him and putting her forehead to his chest, holding him tightly. She felt like she was on the verge of tears and it wouldn’t have surprised her if she was. “I’m sorry,” Lucrecia had lost track of how many times she’d said those words to him but each time she meant them. Her delicate fingers wrapped around his shirt, holding it tightly as she buried her face into his chest.
“I’m sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you.” She knew that he blamed himself for what had happened to her but it wasn’t his fault and she wanted to tell him that but there was so many things she wanted to ask him, to tell him. There was one thing in particular she wanted to tell him but just thinking of those words made her heart race. All the pain she’d felt while imprisoned seemed forgotten now that she was able to hold him and hear his voice. Oh how she’d missed him. Her grip on his shirt slowly loosened as she took a step back. “Sorry…I don’t know what came over me…” she looked down at the floor shyly, feeling slightly embarrassed.

Drawing his own hand back, the door quickly opened, with small hesitation. Vincent's own dark eyes seemed to lighten as they locked with the beautiful eyes that belonged to the one Lucrecia.... "No.." He thought loudly to himself. "How...?! How did I..?!" He was, once again, truly angered with himself. For the first few seconds, he was unsure weather to believe his own eyes...but surly..
The face of an angel...
This was Lucrecia Crescent. At the same point in time of confusion as well as shock, Lucrecia reacted in a familiar matter, her hand reaching out to meet his skin. That small, gentle hand. He continued to stare at her until finally, his mouth opened to speak. "Lucrecia..." It was a low whisper...but it was all the more passionate. The most passionate way he had ever spoken her name since she last was standing of her free will before him. Her hand then moved to his cheek as well as his scraggly hair. He let her, as he felt his own hand move to try and touch her own cheek.
"..I.." He began, but was stopped as she had invited him inside. Of course... There was no need for such a discovery to be thrown at the streets. Slowly, lowering his hands and his cloak following in behind, Vincent made his way in, turning to her as she closed the door behind him. Lucrecia then made her way over to the local couch and sat down. Vincent followed, but did not sit. He was never one to do so.
"Lucrecia...How..? Th.." For once...he was lost for words. Lucrecia was alive... He watched her as he was unsure how to truly react. He had accepted the fact that he had to let her go in peace...but here she was... Alive and greatly well. Her words were filled with sorrow as she spoke to him. Vincent sighed and gently raised his hand to her. "If I ...If I knew.." She moved to her feet and made her way back towards Vincent, his eyes focused on her own. His words stopped as she then embraced him, her emotions taking hold of her. She spoke the words that he recalled hearing in the past...
'I'm sorry.'
Vincent held her and calmly sighed, letting her speak. He knew she felt at fault for what had happened in their lives, but he felt at the same...really there was no one to blame.. If anything...it should be his guilt on his shoulders. She continued to speak her sorries and soon realized what she was doing. Vincent felt her grip loosen and he moved his arms from her, letting the lovely woman step back. Her face red with emotions still flowing through her. And..once again, saying sorry for what had just occurred.
Vincent sighed and made that one step closer to her, "Lucrecia...Sorry should be taken out of your vocabulary.." He stated as he moved his right hand to her face. His eyes showing slight joy at the sight to see his beloved alive and well. "I...I am the one who is sorry... I couldn't protect you.." Vincent's voice was cold, almost sad, but at the point, he was uncertain of himself. "I...I love you, Lucrecia.." He hushed as he felt himself his his words through the collar of his cloak. It was not embarrassing, no. But it was something he never said to anyone. His red eyes went to the floor as did his hand back to his side. "If there is anyone that needs to be sorry about anything, it's Hojo." He hissed, his voice now growing with bits of tempter. But calming himself, Vincent moved to what was at hand.
Looking to Lucrecia, he then investigated her. She was in one piece. beautiful as ever. Unique and full of life. "Now...tell me.. How How are you free from your slumber?" He asked her calmly.

The look of shock upon his features mirrored her own she imagined, he looked like he couldn’t believe his eyes, it was odd for her to see him like that when he’d always been so good at hiding his emotions from others, or at least masking them. She couldn’t talk however, she imagined that the look on her face would be very similar. Lucrecia had to remind herself to breath, his eyes were as mesmerising as ever, no-one else could have eyes like his her mind kept telling her. No illusion could match them either, her three decades long dream had tried several times and failed.
Hearing him say her name brought a little smile to her face, he hadn’t forgotten her. She was glad that he hadn’t since she’d spent the last three decades dreaming of him and her son, whom after meeting had decided that if she never seen Hojo again in this life or in the next then she was personally going to kill him for what he’d done to her child. She liked his hair, she’d liked it when he was a Turk too but now, how he looked now seemed more like who he truly was. He still looked like his father though, whenever she seen him she automatically ended up thinking about his father, some guilt would never disappear, no matter what words were said and how much time passed.
This wasn’t going to be easy, she knew it wasn’t. How could it be easy considering all that they’d been through together and alone? Fate had intertwined their lives, an invisible cord had connected them the moment they crossed paths, she just wished she’d seen that sooner. They’d been destined to meet again from the moment she fused his body with the tainted life stream. She’d clung to that thought while she was preparing to break free of the crystal.
He was at a lose for words and shouldn’t, didn’t blame him. After all she was too. Lucrecia had planned it all out in her head but saying them was something very different. “Vincent, it wasn’t your fault,” she whispered, “How were you to know that I was free?” Lucrecia smiled at him, no-one could blame him for not knowing that she‘d awoken, she certainly couldn’t. He smelt the same as she remembered, she wondered if she should really be holding him, if he’d moved on then this situation was going to be somewhat awkward for him and could make him uncomfortable, that was the last thing she wanted.
When his arms wrapped around she felt herself calm down, if he’d moved on her wouldn’t have been holding her like he was. Lucrecia smiled to herself. He should have been used to her saying sorry by now, she’d said it often enough over the last year. Her chocolate eyes met his, she’d missed being near him more than she could put into words. When he closed the gap between them she couldn’t help but smile at him, “When I’ve said sorry to everyone I need to I’ll allow it to be removed from my vocabulary but until then…Your stuck with it.” Her tone was light hearted, it was going to take her a while to apology to the people she needed to.
Her eyes closed as he touched her cheek, without thinking she placed her hand over his, holding it gently. She lowered her hand as she opened her eyes. “Vincent what happened to me wasn’t your fault. You tried to protect me and got hurt in the process, there was nothing more you could have done Vincent,” she whispered softly, Lucrecia didn’t blame him for what happened, none of it was his fault. Her eyes widened as she heard his words. “Vincent, I’ve been waiting a while to hear that…”
When he lowered his hand she quickly took it in her own. “Vincent…I love you too…I have done for some time…” she looked into his eyes, reaching up with her free hand to brush her fingers through his hair. “Don’t even get me started of him, I’ve already seen what he allowed to happen to my son…So much he’s done that can’t be undone…but he doesn’t matter anymore, he’s done all the harm her can do to us.”
She lowered her hand, considering how to word it. “A few months ago I…someone spoke to me and I was able to speak back, I was beginning to wake up. Slowly but surely I was starting to feel stronger than I had in years…” Lucrecia looked at him and smiled. “I stopped dreaming, my thoughts were completely independent from my dreams. The more I thought about it the more my power grew and eventually my eyes began to flicker and my fingers would twitch…When my eyes opened the crystal shattered…”
She bowed her head. “I wasn’t the only one that was in the cave when I woke up, a young man named Cloud was there but he wasn’t the only person that was there…I met my son…my Sephiroth…”

This feeling of revival.. It was magnificent. Different, yet...nearly to the point of unexplainable. He felt, a little awkward, giving her that hold of a hug and the way he did, but...he felt encouraged to do so. How both, Lucrecia and Vincent at this moment, he felt as if they both needed that touch to show, yes...this was no mere dream.. Lucrecia implied that this was not his fault as well as not knowing well enough to her being alive and all. He nodded, understanding her words.
"Yes..I understand." He informed as he peered at her through locks of his long black hair. As Lucrecia then made a reply to Vincent's words on removing the word 'sorry' from her vocabulary, it seemed to come by as a good joke of sorts and it was, well, nice to hear that tone in her voice. So light and warm.
Her words were always kind. Gentle.. That was Lucrecia. A kind and gentle person. No other words can really describe her, other then the fact that she was beautiful in and out. She was enough to make Vincent, the man of emotionless expressions nearly smile at the sight of her own. The feel of her hand touching his own made him happy... His smile was small, but it was there and it was true. Passion was beginning to form within Vincent. A type of passion he had not had in ages beyond.. This was truly no dream. And if it dare was, Vincent was never one to do so, but he'd pray for it to never end.
Lucreacia's hand brushed through his hair as she spoke of Hojo. He let his deep breaths run silent as she did so. Just his name...the thoughts of him cause his own fist to clench at the stupidity that had fallen due to the selfishness of such a man. But she was right in her words. And in all, what's done is done. What can yo do now but live on? Nodding, he accepted it and listened to her as she began to explain how she was supposedly freed. How she explained, however, confused him momentarily. "A voice?" He repeated, trying to grasp the scene. Seems she was not alone in her awakening. Someone else was there... "Cloud?" Vincent repeated after her. But her final words were rather...nerve wracking. Her son... "And Sephiroth..." Vincent whispered and lowered his arms to think on the situation.
Where the hell was he when this all happened?! Why did he not come there?! And why did it happen when it did.. And lastly, "What happened? Was there a battle that I was not aware of?" His tone rather serious. Sephiroth was not the type of being to mess with and whenever himself and Cloud got together, there was always some sort of duel...Like a score being settled... And if so and to have Lucrecia there on standby, without himself protecting her... The fool.
Sighing, however, he realized that, if there was anything illogical that had occurred, Lucrecia was alive.. and well at that. "I..wish I was there when it happened...I could have...-" He stated and tilted his head towards her, his tone feeling like that of guilt. Shaking his head, however, he began to wish..well, that he never spoke of the word, wish. Wishes rarely ever happened.. "At least you were not harmed, Lucrecia.." He sighed with a small cooed tone, just happy she was safe, as she was standing before him.
"Is there anything I can do for you..?" he nearly begged her as he held her hand with his 'not gauntlet' hand.
