Tiny bit of backstory: That is Prime Minister Oliver Lucraft speaking after recently becoming elected to my world.. Country thing. Lol. Anyway, I'm mostly curious about if the speech seems believable.

Tens of thousands of faces stared. Stared up, up towards the huge stone towers that melted sky. Ribbons of red dashed the heavens and scorched the earth with dying, yellow hues. The crowds melded with sweat, their cries carried by soft, twitting winds. Heat pulsed from them as they gathered in their masses, swelling and dispersing as if they where a living organism.
They had gathered in this courtyard that stretched on and on behind them. On either side great statues of kings and queens stared down on them. Solemnly they stared.
Faces sprawled out before him, each one looking with quelled faith and postponed devotion. Their eyes, their eyes did not yet believe, even as they walked here in their millions. They believed their pilgrimage for nothing, yet came to see his face.
And when he stepped out onto the balcony which hung upon the grand tower, they hushed in ripples. Here, he was before the many judging faces, of children, of men, of women, each an individual, yet all, all hushed to his arrival. He waved a hand, as if to part the crowds, but their eyes simply followed it, their bodies rooted still. A baby burst into tears.
He spoke, ears swiveling towards the great masses. "My people," Oh, yes it felt satisfying referring to them as his people. "My great, proud people. It fills me with such jubilation to be speaking to you from this hallowed place. You have come today expecting to be filled with the same lies told year upon year upon year, but today, my people, I will break from this tradition." He smirked a little.
"I stand before you today, risen from the ashes of a decayed and decrepit system. You have chosen me, because from the stinking rot of political scandal, we stood alone against the turbulent tides. We sloughed our disgusting, backwater and corrupt parasites. We made a message, and we made very clear, that we would be streamlined. That we would be pure. That we would face temptation in the eye and say "no"."
He nodded his head, catching the glittering eyes of a few. "I stand before you today, chosen because you where sick of the old, dogmatic, 'traditional' ways. You where sick of how this country was being treated, held back while others steamrolled past us. You where sick of feeling your gut wrench and turn when again another story flashed of some grand invention that we where unable to obtain."
"Yet I stand before you today, not chosen simply because the other side had failed you. I stand before you today because you believe in quality. You believe in the rich feeding the great gaping maws of the poor. You believe in connection, that we, all, together, shall form a society far more diverse than we could ever have dreamed of before. You chose me above all the rest because you want the bridge between The Two Twin Empires closed. Do you realize this?"
He closed his eyes, his hands swaying and speaking for him, "You" his eyes opened, sharply gazing down on them, "You have done something revolutionary. You have shaped the way this country works for everyone, to the poor, struggling, single man with his seven children, to the corrupt, slouched buisnessman whose money spills from his pockets, to the proud nurse surrounded by dying children, to the young girl just trying to find her way in this chaotic world. You have affected them, for you are them and all the shades in between. You have made the man smile, the buisnessman repent, the nurse more equipped and the girl more secure. You. You have done this, my grand people. Do you realize this?"
"Well realize now. Your eyes now can be held wide open, as we together, walk together, into a new dawn. We will make mistakes along the way, but the choices we make shall revolutionize the way we think and the way we act and our place within this world. You have chosen progress."
"But now, on behalf of those departed, let me apologize. Let me apologize for all the sins we had to bear. Apologize for all the hearts they had to tear." Oh, Anguine always did write the best lines. "I apologize for all the hurt and pain we had to suffer. But it is over now. So rest your minds. Lay down your tired, sorry backs, and let freedom wash over you now. The chains are broken. God has set you free."
He smiled, speaking one last time, "And may the gods bless you. Each and every one of you, you millions. And thank you, thank you for saving this country."
He bowed his head at the great applause that ran out through the courtyard. His tail flicked, and he sighed in satisfaction. He turned, back into the great stone tower, flanked by two reptilian guards.
