Zack stands at 6.3, and has peircing blue eyes. This is because of the mako that was fused into his body when he joined SOLDIER. his exact weight is unknown. His hair is pure black and extremely spiked. A scar in the shape of an X is on his left cheek, from a fight with Angeal. He dresses in a black, 1st class SOLDIER outfit, with his large Buster Sword hanging on his back.

Personality
Zack's personality can be summed up in three words. Outgoing, upbeat and cocky. He makes friends easily, and likes people's company. Making friends is often done quickly and easily with basically everyone that he meets. Zack has extreme loyalty to the friends he makes, such can be seen with how he treated Angeal. Even though he had gone bad and was creating chaos, he wouldn't fight him until it was absolutely necessary. He will defend his friends quickly and without hesitation as he is very protective of them. That being said, he is somewhat flirty with women, often being labeled a ladies man.
He is always upbeat, thinking positivity, even when things aren't going his own way. Zack isn't a quitter, and even when he doesn't know what to do, he does something. Though this isn't always the best option as he has a tendency to rush in without having the greatest of plans. Cocky about his abilities, thinking he is great, and that he will become a hero some day. He grew a lot in that area, growing up as the years went by and he learned a lot more. He became less cocky, knowing he couldn't accomplish things, but he isn't exactly humble either. Zack has deeper emotions then most think he has, since he is always seemingly happy and outgoing. He fights for the side he is on, and he is loyal to the largest degree, even sometimes when he shouldn't be. but that just adds to the reasons why Zack is great.
Having a strong attitude, Zack will not back down from any challenge, even when he had to fight Sephiroth, knowing he would not win but fighting nonetheless. Always ready for battle or work, he never shirks his duty, whether it be a fight or helping Cloud through a rough patch.
History Zack joined ShinRa’s military system when he was 13 years old, wishing to be like the 1st class SOLDIER Sephiroth. With the help of his mentor Angeal Hewlew, By the time he was 16 he was a 2nd class SOLDIER. When Genesis goes ‘missing’ Angeal suggested Zack go and try to prove himself, recommending Zack for 1st. While on the mission with Angeal in Banora he learns more about Angeal and Banora, before fighting his way through the wutai temple. While there he gets attacked by a summon and meats the hero Sephiroth. Sephiroth states that Angeal and Genesis both deserted, while Zack refuses to believe it and tells Sephiroth that “Angeal would never betray us! Never!” Afterwards Lazard gives Zack a new mission, to go to Genesis’ hometown and investigate with Tseng of the Turks. He meets Angeal’s mother but later the town is bombed as Genesis copies pop up all over the place.
He is next made a 1st class SOLDIER by Lazard, although he isn’t as happy as he thought he would be. Zack has to fight through Midgar at that moment when Genesis copies attack the city. Along the way he meets more of the Turks, including Reno, Rude and Cissnei when he rescues her. He eventually chases down Hollander, who he is chasing, and meets Angeal, who tells Zack that he is a monster. Zack asks why he’s doing what he is, and Angeal answers that its revenge or World domination, which Zack just scoffs at. He tells Angeal that he isn’t a monster and his wings are angel’s wings. Angeal tells him to defend himself, at which he shakes his head no to. Angeal punches him and he falls through the roof of the building he is on.
He wakes up to a woman’s voice, saying “hellooooo” Which turns out to be Aerith. He asks her if she is an Angel and if he is in heaven, she says no, and that they are in a church in the slums. Talking with her some, he asks to repay her for saving him with one date. After that she leads him to the slums marketplace, where his wallet is stolen. She helps him get it back and he guys her the pink bow that she wears at all times after that as a gift from their one day friendship. Going to the park, she tells him that SOLDIER’s are scary, which he responds to by telling her that he is with SOLDIER. After talking a bit more he gets a phone call telling him to get back to the ShinRa building as Genesis copies are attacking.
Leaving, Zack fought his way through Midgar towards the ShinRa building. Angeal finds him and tells him that they have to fight together. Agreeing, they fly towards the ShinRa building, but Angeal drops him off to fight Bahamut Fury. Defeating him, Zack realizes that once again Angeal isn’t around.
After that attack Zack is sent to Modeoheim. They helicopter is shot down by Genesis Copies so they have to head out on foot. There Zack meets Cloud for the first time and he notices that Cloud is the only one that can keep up with him. Cloud says its because he’s a ‘county boy’ as well. They become immediate friends. They eventually come to a mako excavation facility while the rest go on. Making his way inside, he catches Hollander and Genesis fighting. Defeating the degrading Genesis, Zack watches while Genesis falls off the ledge. Zack goes after Hollander and learns about Hollander and the jenova experiments that Angeal’s mother was a part of. Zack is then forced to fight and kill Angeal, which is where he obtains his scar. With his dying breath, Angeal tells Zack to remember his honor and passes on the Buster sword to him. Aerith comforts Zack in his state of shock and distress, bringing them closer then they had been before. After that he takes on the role Angeal had, being the emotional heart of the SOLDIER organization.
And then he goes on a mission to Nibelheim. He goes with Sephiroth, Tifa and Cloud up to the reactor to check it out. Sephiroth, because of a series of events, figures out about his past and goes crazy. Zack tries to find him, but he tells him that he just wants to be left alone. When he learns about what Sephiroth did, Zack runs after Tifa to defeat Sephiroth. Fighting Sephiroth, he holds his own for awhile, but eventually is defeated. Cloud defeats Sephiroth at his urging and they are both taken as Hojo’s experiments.
After four years Zack breaks both himself and Cloud out of the ShinRa mansion. Though cloud is filled with mako addiction, Zack appears basically fine, and fights their way out of the mansion. His friend Cissnei helps him out and gives him a motorcycle, which he uses. Driving away, he is stopped by Genesis, who makes one of his copies eat a piece of his hair because he had been infused with Jenova cells. Because Zack was a previous 1st class SOLDIER, his cells are not perfect and are useless to Genesis. He goes to defeat Genesis one last time, and after doing so, eats the dumbapples with Cloud, Lazard and Genesis.
Finding Aerith’s last letter, and desperate that she will forget about him, Zack leaves with Cloud to go to Midgar and find her. Hiding Cloud away so that the Army can’t find him, he goes to face the ShinRa army, stating that “The price for freedom is steep.” Though he fights hard and defeats almost all of them, he is shot down bye the remaining handful of Army members. When a dizzy Cloud finds him, he gives his Buster sword to him and tells him to be his ‘living legacy.’ And then the eyes of a Hero close…
Now years later he is awakened from the Lifestream…what will happen now? Had Aerith waited for him? Can he find her? Will Cloud still be alive? Those questions are the ones he wants answered as he first breathes back on earth…alive…After learning about there being l'cie in Gaia, Zack has to rescue Cloud when Sephiroth attacks him in a weak state. Though Sephiroth smashed him around, Zack held his own until Sephiroth thought Cloud had died and left. Sparking Cloud's heart back to working again, Zack learned the truth about Cloud being a l'cie and realized he was back for a purpose. Helping Cloud complete what he set out to do.

Zack felt an odd sensation...like he was moving, at a fast pace. Aerith...she had gone...back, to live again in a world he had been away from for some time. He closed his eyes. It felt like he had a headache, pressure was on his head.
He landed somewhere hard with suddenness. He opened his eyes, a little dizzy. "well, that was a fine, howdoyado!" He grumbled to himself. He opened his eyes before raising himself on his forearms. He looked around. Midgar...? He looked around, then shook his head. Was he back? He jumped to his feet, looking around with interest. It looked so different now, Midgar did. He shook his head, laying his hand against his brow. Was this real? Was he real? What...? How...?
He took a few steps. That had hurt, getting back, but how had it happened? He raised his brown, then shrugged. He raised a fist in the air, before whooping. He was BACK! He immediately checked his back for his sword. His brows furrowed before he remembered. He had given it to Cloud...before he had died. He felt naked without it. He had never been without the Buster Sword, and he hated it.
He wondered where he should go. Then he remembered the bar. He turned around, trudging foreword. He had to find Cloud, and...especially Aerith. He wanted to talk to her, to be with her, to touch her. Did she still have to bow he had given her? He suddenly stopped. He scrounged in his pocket. Sure enough, he still had her letter, the last one she had written to him. His jaw hardened, He loved her, he always had, even though his job had kept him away. He wondered if she had been able to look at the sky without getting scared. He longed to be with her once again, had she waited for him? "wait for me Aerith..." he whispered before continuing to walk, still as cocky as ever, but his heart beat fast. After this time, would he be able to see her? or his best friend? He didn't know what had all happened while he was away, but Midgar didn't look the greatest. Something had happened, something bad, he was sure of it.
He was still in his SOLDIER clothes. He would have to change sometimes. He looked around, then continued walking. He had no idea where the bar might be, but he hoped he was close....
