"That was my sin. And this... this... is my punishment. "
Midgar... A godforsaken place which was many times used as a stage for the battle between the forces of good and evil, a place where many sins were committed, many lives lost and many bad choices were made. In the center of it all stood the once proud and powerful Shinra Electric Power Company, now a pile of rubble and ruins, constantly falling a part as if it couldn't become any more decayed. At the outskirts of that place of ruin stood Edge, the new hope and the present of what was left of Midgar after the meteor clashed into it, leaving only just a few sectors that were rebuilt by the survivors that now called it home. The people had suffered much; it was a big surprise that after it all there were quite a few citizens still standing. From the Meteor to the appearance of OMEGA, it appeared as though they knew no rest. But fortunately for them, there were quite a few that stood against the evil that rose time and time again; the so called "forces of good" saved the world from destruction countless times, standing between the villains and their objectives. These heroes were not cheered for, yet their strength and determination were the reason why that planet had not been destroyed. Among those heroes stood a lone wolf by the name of Vincent Valentine, a man tormented by the sins of his past and always grieving about what he had lost. His stern and cold exterior hiding the tormented soul that dwells inside of him, not even thinking that it maybe wasn't his fault to begin with.
Vincent walked the forsaken streets of Midgar, crimson red eye looking out at front and not even shifting from the distance. He stood straight and rigid, each stride as calm as the other, matching his serene yet slightly cold expression and the gentle and calm sway of his tarnished crimson cape. The sound of his steel and pointy boots echoed through the abandoned streets, following the occasional and random sound of debris falling from the buildings. The reason why Vincent was there was unknown even to him, but perhaps it was merely to calm his worried mind? For quite a few days, Vincent had a feeling that something was wrong , though he could not point out exactly what it was and maybe it was really just one of those random feelings, but he had to be sure...
The crimson cloaked man made his way through out the sectors, not stopping for even a second, not even to examine a single one of the numerous craters that filled the sectors. His objective was clear, Sector 0, the one that harbored the central of Shinra and it was only a few blocks away from where the man stood. Suddenly, his stride became slightly quicker, signaling that he was probably tired of hanging around that place and wanted to get rid of that annoyance as fast as he could. That would fit his profile and Vincent would rather be sleeping soundly at "his mansion" then hanging around a place which uncovered so many bad memories.
After a minute or so, the man was already standing in front of the entrance to the giant skyscraper, the walls almost all torn asunder, it was almost a miracle how half of the building was still hanging there, emphasize on the half... Vincent stood there, eyes looking up wards at the ruins, the feeling that something was wrong still residing, never ceasing for a second. Perhaps it was just the guilt consuming him, making him feel things without reason? It could be, but it was better to be safe then sorry...
Vincent sighed heavily as he recalled the times in which he had stood there, in that very same place, looking at the very same building, moments before stepping in and fulfill his role as one of the "Turks". Such memory made Vincent's right hand tighten, because that memory connected to one mission he had, which connected to Hojo, that filthy little weasel, which in turn connected to Lucrecia. The mere thought of her or the mention of her name was enough to send Vincent in a spiral of guilt... Though the man didn't even have time to be tortured by his own guilt, his hand swiftly finding way into the grip of Cerberus, only then to pull it abruptly and point it at a nearby alley. Vince's eyes were the first to lock onto the darkness, his gun, now ready to be fired was pointed in that direction. He didn't move an each or said anything after that, waiting for whoever or whatever made him move to appear. He did not know who or what was there, because there really wasn't a reason for anyone to be there at that god forsaken place, though if it were a foe, Vince wouldn't think twice about shooting, the three-barreled gun waiting to have its trigger pulled.
