Gideon woke up swinging. His fist connected with the garbage dumpster he had passed out by. The large metal bin dented and skidded across the ground; the alley was abandoned and therefore he avoided startling anyone. Gideon relaxed and, leaning his head back against the wall, rubbed his thumb and forefinger on each side of the bridge of his nose. Another of the endless nightmares that replayed Seria's death every night.
He breathed in long and deep, allowing himself to calm his heart and clear his mind. A new world such as this that seemed so tense at every moment; he could not allow himself to provoke such intensity to break it's threshold and sink into the open chaos he had overheard several civilians conversing about. Standing up, throwing on a pair of sunglasses to hide his sky blue mako eyes, he decided to start the day looking for a job once again. he strapped his five foot blade customized blade to his back and threw on his carbon steel, plated, arm length gauntlet, his fitted body armor was easily comfortable enough to sleep in and was already on. He popped his knuckles as well as his stiff neck, threw on a cloak to cover his armor, and headed down the alley.
After several hours of walking around with very little success he decided to take a break and sat down on the side of the road. As he looked around he guessed it to be around noon. Looking up at the sky, he decided that, regardless to his success rate in regards to a job, he liked Cocoon's atmosphere. Everything was colorful and, though tense, still very lively; it was very different from Midgar's grey, polluted skies, as well as the world weary people that had suffered through so much in the last several years.
Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted a myrmidon as he had learned to call the large very quick machines was zipping around making quite a racket. Gideon stood up and began to casually walk toward the site of the chaos. He quickly analyzed the matter and found there to be a sense of urgency, he heard someone shout that the machine had come from nowhere and was attacking people at random. He wanted to join the fight there but he had to make sure it was malfunctioning before intervening.
Suddenly there were gunshots and he watched several guardsmen start attacking the machine, if there was ever a better sign than that Gideon could think of none. The machine spun around and readied itself to charge the guards, out of nowhere a small girl wandered into its path. Without a seconds hesitation he shot into the myrmidon's path in between it and the girl and drew his blade. The bot shot forward and Gideon braced his arm behind the blade. The five years of physical hell he had put his body through payed off as he skidded backward but still managed to stop the bot inches before plowing through the child.
"My turn you useless waste of metal," Gideon smirked. He braced himself and with all the strength he could muster while stationary, heaved the big machine several yards backward. While the chance made itself present he charged and casted haste on himself. Meanwhile the bot had regained it's bearings and had begun to charge at him again. This time it struck his arm as he protected his midsection and Gideon lost some more ground. He grimaced as he awaited to feel the small girl bounce off his leg, the contact never came. He glanced behind him to see that a guardsmen had scooped her up and was retreating back to his fellow guards.
Gideon could now focus on the task at hand and turned all of his attention on the machine that had raised it's gun and leveled it at him. With his new found speed he jumped forward and brought his blade down and through the bots gun-arm with ease. sparks flew as the metal gave way to blade and Gideon, with a crescent kick, swung his heel into the bot's midsection and sent it sailing back and to the ground though it recovered quickly it was not fast enough as Gideon's adrenaline had awakened the mako infused with his very being.
His eyes started to glow from beneath his sunglasses and the green hazy mist-like mako started to rise from his body. He quickly focused all of his mako energies into his right arm and shot forward toward the recovering bot. Using all the built up momentum and all of his strength he brought his palm just under the bots would be chest and tore the machine in half. panting from the energy overload Gideon strapped his weapon to his back and took a deep breath to calm himself. Never had he reached a limit break so quickly before, this planet was having slightly strange effects on his body.
Again his thoughts were interrupted as he heard a guardsmen yell, "freeze, hands in the air"
"You've got to be kidding" Gideon said raising his hands and slowly turning around, "I've gotta stop tryin to help people."
