Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie hummed as she checked her computer. Updating her site, she was also scanning the remains from one of the beasts that had attacked Garden a few days ago. She hadn't learned much more then she hadn't known before-they weren't from around Balamb...or anywhere else on this planet either. Their structure was different, but she had spent hours researching animals in the planet and these weren't close to anything she had found. It was stumping her, and she was supposed to be telling Squall about what she found out. All she had to tell him she had found out though, was her lack of finding anything out. Something told her she should check the site of where the animals had come from. Maybe the squad Squall had sent to check it out had missed something. So picking up her nanchaku, Selphie exited her site and walked toward the front gate.
Just a quick look around, or at least thats what she told herself. Selphie's left upper arm still hurt from where one of the tigers had scratched her with its claws. She should be taking it easy, but just looking around wasn't bad right? Squall had been yelling at her since that day to stop doing anything and let it heal, but it was healing just fine. Besides, he wouldn't know she was doing anything stressful. So with that in mind she skipped off toward the front gate, waving at people she knew, which was basically everyone. Selphie was full of laughter and liked to talk to people, so she made friends quite easily. Plus she was in every club in Garden.
When she finally made it out to where the beasts had attacked, she looked around. The bodies of the animals had been disposed of, but the ground was still torn up from where the fighting had taken place. She found some of the tracks from the animals and followed them as they went further from Garden. Before she realized it she had gone quite a distance from Garden, still nothing. She made it to the woods west of Balamb Garden and hesitated for only a second before going into the forest. She had walked only a short distance when something caught her eye. Blue and swirling, a mass was there, looking so inviting. Selphie stepped closer and reached out to touch it. Mistake.
Selphie gasped as her hand touched the portal, she couldn't draw back. It was sucking her in and she couldn't get back no matter how hard she tried. She shrieked, “NOOOO-” but it didn't help, the next moment her entire body had been sucked in and she was falling through the sky...or so it seemed. The wind whipped her body and she couldn't see because of the blinding light. When she finally saw the ground again she was still screaming. “OOOOOOOOOOOO!!” She was so far above the ground, she saw sparkling water though. Falling...falling...Selphie gasped as she plunged head first into the calm water below her. Popping back up above the water, Selphie still managed to have her Nanchaku in her hand as she sputtered with her head above the surface of the water.
Looking at the shore that wasn't that far away, she struck out, swimming awkwardly because of her over sized nanchaku. She felt like she was going to die before she managed to be able to touch bottom. Her arm hurt where it had been jarred open and salt water was getting into her now open wound. Stumbling up to the shore, Selphie fell to her knees and gasped for breath, turning her head to look at her wound. Gingerly touching it, she winced and sat down in the sand, her yellow mini skirt soaked, hair was wet and she reached up her right hand to try to comb it. As she did she looked around and suddenly her mouth dropped open. “Where am I?!?” She burst out, leaping to her feet in wonder. She had no idea...this didn't even look like her world! She felt oddly like breaking down and crying, why had she touched that swirling blue thing?! Why hadn't she just listened to Squall?! Green eyes stared around her as she sank again to her knees and stared at the city in the distance. This couldn't be happening! Words: 833 Muse: good Notes: none

The legendary lazy bum known as Sonuske Asama to the world was leisurely relaxing on the beach. Since he was stuck here for a while, atleast til another portal opened up somewhere, he figured he might as well enjoy the time he had. The place was peaceful, and so far during his stay he spent most of his time on the beach laying down in the sand and staring up at the sky and out across the peaceful waters.
He figured he should've been looking for Fate, but he knew he'd be fine. He was assured of this by Angeal and Lightning. Whoever these Fang and Vanille characters were, they seemed to be capable of taking care of each other. And so he chose to just relax till he turned up again, since from what he knew, Fate was still here on Cocoon, so no rush. Besides, this gave him time to think of the way he was going to tell his buddy he was a l'Cie now. He couldn't just come out and say it, he had to be subtle with it, work his way into that type of thing. He shrugged, dismissing that for now too. He'll cross that bridge when he came to it.
He closed his eyes, gearing up to take a nap in this relaxing weather, but no sooner had he closed his eyes, than a high pitched scream pierced his ears. His eyes snapped open to find the source of the interruption. He quickly found a familiar looking girl falling from the sky, and landing in the waters. Reminded him of the first time he and Fate ended up here, Sonuske ended up in the sand and Fate almost drowned.
Shaking his memories away, he scrambled to his feet to help the poor girl who seemed confused before she drowned out there. But before he could make it to the water, she had already made it to shore. Good, he didn't have to get wet today. But he still had to help her out. He rushed down to where she was. As he got closer, he realized why she seemed so familiar. This was Selphie Tilmitt! One of the SeeD heros that saved the world! Everyone knew who she was, especially all the kids from Trabia. He had to help her now!
When he reached her, he could see her facial expression. She seemed confused, lost, and in desperate need of help. Good thing he showed up when he did. "Ms. Tilmitt, are you okay?" He asked kneeling down to look at her eye level. "Right now, you're in another world, in a city called Bodhum." He said in response to her earlier question. Had she gotten here by touching the swirling portal like he and Fate had too? Was Squall here then? He looked around, not spotting him anywhere. Guess not. He stood back up to his full height, extending his hand to help her up as well.

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie was still kneeling there, trying to piece together what had just happened as well as trying to stanch the flow of blood from her arm when suddenly a boy about the same age as she was knelt down to her eye level and called her by her name. She was so startled she went to scoot back and landed on her butt instead. “Ugh.” She said when she did that before realizing that it wasn't something out to get her. It was all to much to comprehend in the few seconds he called her by her name and also explained to her just where she was. Putting her hands on the sand, she pushed herself up to kneeling position again before raising a hand to try to slow him down. “Wait wait wait...you mean to tell me were in another world!” She closed her eyes for a second and a deep sigh escaped her lips.
This couldn't be happening...this couldn't be happening. She was reminded of her open wound as she felt the warm liquid blood drip down her arm. Wiping it off, she laid her hand on the wound to get it to slow down with the bleeding. It wasn't life threatening or anything like that, but it still hurt, and Squall had told her to rest. Squall. Squall was going to KILL her! Literally, bring out his gunblade and kill her. Why didn't she ever listen to him? She should have just stayed in Garden and none of this would have happened. Suddenly something else caught her eye, and so she turned her head to look at the man who had come running up to her. “How do you know my name?”
How did someone from another world know her name? It didn't make sense, but something told her she should know him. She tried to remember how she should know him, but she couldn't. Even though she spent her time in Balamb Garden now, because of her ties with Trabia garden Selphie was always checking in and finding out all the latest news from Trabia garden. She knew every new cadet, but not by picture, only by name. Still, she doubted he was from Garden, and yet he knew her name. Why did he know her name? She suddenly remembered he had asked her a question. She might not look that good, but she was all in one piece. Trying to rally her spirit, she gave him a halfhearted smile and nodded, “Yeah I'm ok, I'm alive at least.”
She tried to rewind what he had said, a city called Bodem? Bodel? “Where did you say we were again?” Shaking her head, she pressed her finger in her ear and worked the water that was in there back out. Then she worked her arm a bit, moving it up and then down to see how painful it was. Not bad, if push came to shove she could still fight. Not that she wanted to do that with a gashed arm, but still, if no other options were available, she could still fight. That was a reassurance. Kneeling there, for a moment she panicked, thinking her nanchaku was deep in the bottom of the ocean, but a quick glance told her it was right there beside her. Thank goodness, she didn't like getting caught anywhere without her nanchaku, but especially not in places that were this far from home. And if...whoever this guy was had told her that she was on an entirely different planet, that was cause for even more worry. What was it like here? Could she ever get back? Would she ever be able to see her friends again? Woah woah woah...one step at a time. First step, figuring out who this young man was. Ok, that was easy enough. Turning her eyes toward him, she asked the question, "Who are you?" Words: 762 Muse: good Notes: None

Sonuske rubbed the back of his head when Selphie fell over. He hadn't meant to startle her, but then again popping up randomly in someone's face would usually frighten them. That he had to admit, was his fault. "Sorry about that, but yes. We are on another world." He answered non-chalantly. He had been sucked through so many portals, the experience no longer phased him. She probably had been scared out of her wits though, he couldn't blame her, he was too his first time.
He wondered why she was confused as to why he knew her name. Didn't she know she was famous back home?... Oh yeah, they weren't home and he wasn't wearing anything to distinguish him from any random person on this world. If he had passed the SeeD exams, she would know who he was instantly, he had Fate to thank for that. Causing them to disappear before they even got to take it! But that was another story for another time, they'd make it back and become full-fledged SeeD's someday. "I'm from Trabia, everyone knows who you are." He answered matter-of-factly with a smile.
He smiled when she claimed she was okay. That was good. Atleast, until he saw her arm bleeding, which caused his smile to slowly fade away. "We're in a place called Bodhum. You sure okay? Your arm looks pretty bad." He tilted his head in a genuine look of concern. He wasn't a medic, but he knew that they should probably get that arm fixed up before she lost too much blood.
He stuck his hands in his pockets and stared off into the distance, getting lost in thought. He had alot to think about these days, what with being a l'Cie and losing his best friend, being chased by PSICOM. Things in his life were certainly changing, and not exactly for the better. He snapped back to reality at her next question. "Sorry, my name is Sonuske. Sonuske Asama, at your service." He introduced, giving her his best friendly smile.
His eyes widened suddenly, as if he had just remembered something. Why hadn't he done something about her arm before? He was slipping! He ripped off a piece of his shirt sleeve, not too much, just enough to wrap around her arm, and before she could respond or protest, he wrapped it around her wound. "There. How's that?"

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” She just tried smiling at him when he apologized, “Its ok, I just wasn't ready for someone to run up to me, thats all.” The smile was reassuring, but she still didn't know who he was or how he knew her. It was a bit unnerving, meeting someone that knew you when you were positive you didn't know them. Still, if he knew her name yet they were in a different world...did that mean that he was from her world as well? Was it possible that more people then her had gotten sucked through the portal things? The thought made her cringe, she needed to get back home and try to seal it up the best she could, or...bury it or something. Wait, that would work because the dirt would just get sucked in. Ok new plan!
But then he made it fit together. “Trabia!! You're from Trabia!?!” She reached out and hugged him then, a little piece of home was right there. “Everyone knows me?” She was elated that she had found someone from her home world. At least he knew what was going on, probably understood why she was so blasted confused as well. She hugged him tight before letting go, “Hey, how is everyone there? I haven't gone to visit Trabia in so long...I'd thought they'd all forgotten about me.” She felt like bouncing around and hugging him again, but managed to calm herself slightly and glanced at him, hoping he would tell her exactly where they were again.
“Bodhum? Is there anyway to get back home?” She felt almost like an alien, like ET trying to make his way back home again, and she hated the thought. She shrugged and went to tell him that she was ok when suddenly he ripped his shirt sleeve and started binding up her wound. She willingly let him help, it had to be done, and she couldn't exactly reach to do it herself, so she was thankful for his help. She swung her arm around a few times before letting it drop down to her lap. “Feels great, Thank you Sonuske.” She said with a returning smile, “Squall told me to fix it up before when I got it, but flying through that portal must have tore it open again.”
“Hey! Your a cadot at Trabia right?” She felt a little sheepish, “I mean, I'm not stalking you or anything, I just try to check up on whats happening at Trabia.” Green eyes appraised him, he wasn't wearing a SeeD uniform, but then again, neither was she. When she was on a mission she wore her uniform, but in regular day to day life she just wore her yellow summer dress most places. Being careful not to disrupt her arm to much, she glanced around them, “So how did you manage to end up here? I've gotta tell you, its not exactly a fun thing...getting sucked into that blasted portal.”

Sonuske nodded and opened his mouth to respond, but before he could she was hugging him. Just a second ago she was wary of who he was, now she was hugging him like they'd known each other for years! Then again, he had to remember, she was in a strange hostile environment, surrounded by people who probably wanted to kick her ass. It was like being in high school! He couldn't blame her sudden elation when he thought about it. "Well honestly, I haven't been there in a while myself. I've been sucked through a dozen of these little portal things. But last I checked everything was fine! And don't worry about that, we'd never forget you." He explained, returning her hug.
Sonuske shrugged. "I've been to about 3 or 4 different worlds, I'd assume logically our world is in one of these portals, I've yet to find it though. But chances are, there's a chance to get home. The probability isn't very high though." He said, his analytical side coming out. Now that he thought about what he said, it didn't sound like he was trying to be very hopeful. "But I'm sure with the two of us, we'll make it home." He added with a smile. He nodded again at her. "No problem. You really should be more careful, how'd you manage to get sucked in through it anyway?"
His eyes widened slightly. She knew he was a cadet? He had to admit, he was slightly weirded out. But luckily she explained herself. "Oh okay, had me a little concerned there." He admitted chuckling. "Yeah. I'm a cadet. Well, I was rather. I was just 2 days away from taking my SeeD exam too, but I ended up being sucked through one of those portals." He answered sighing. He wondered how different things would be had he and Fate actually stayed home and graduated. Things might not have been as interesting, but he'd have a fancy new title and a paycheck to boot. "Me? My best friend Fate touched the portal and got sucked in, I coudn't abandon him so I chased in after him. And we ended up here long story short." He explained. His expression had slowly grown slightly more melancholy as he told his story. Truth be told, he still missed Fate like hell. A simple call or a text or something would've been nice! Just a sign to know he was alive.

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” What he was thinking was correct. One moment Selphie had been on a world where everyone knew her, she was a respected SeeD member who had saved the world, and was happily planning the Garden Festival, and the next she was falling through the sky onto a world she didn't know, in a place she didn't know, with her arm bleeding. It wasn't a good combination, and to her, any bit of home made her breathe a sigh of relief. Green eyes were now settled on him as she took in a deep breathe and got used to her new surroundings. It was hard to take in all at once, but her SeeD training kicked in and she got herself under control a little bit with her mixed up emotions. Ok, yes, she was on a different planet with no way to get home. Yes she had barely an idea of where she was. BUT, one positive thing. Sonuske was from back home. Another thing, she still had her nanchaku!
Two positive things. Selphie usually tried to look at the good things about a situation. It was one of her strong points. Though Squall usually got annoyed at her sunny outlook on life, the rest of the party were usually enlightened, even if they wouldn't admit it. Dozens? The look on her face dropped a bit again. This wasn't going to be easy. “And you still haven't found a way back home yet?” She felt like an idiot again. “I really wish I hadn't touched that stupid portal! I would be back home happily planning the Garden Festival if it wasn't for that!” She was throwing one of her rare temper tantrums, but seriously, she wished she could take it all back. Thats when he hugged her back and she sighed a bit, everything got better with the hug. She felt better and less worried about what the future would bring. Now was not the time to start emoing like Squall!
She tried to step back and think logically. Yes, he was right. “Eventually you'd think one would lead back to our world. But what if we never...no! That isn't the way to think! Have you been trying to get back ever since you got sucked into here in the first place?” Brows furrowed as she tried to think. She didn't like having to make decisions, that was always Squall's job...or Quistis' job. Even Irvine took over before she did. Usually she was the force behind the party, not the leader. Then she reminded herself she shouldn't automatically think that Sonuske couldn't be the leader. She felt this strong surge of hope. “No! Its as high as we make it! If we think we'll get back I'm sure eventually we will. Its just a matter of determination and will power!”
Selphie felt a bit of a blush creep up her neck when he asked her how she got sucked in. “Well its kinda ironic actually...have you met Squall? Yeah...you probably have, it's garden after all. Well anyway, so these beasts attacked Garden a few days ago. And I'm almost positive that they aren't from our world, never seen anything like them. (They're from Cocoon) But anyway, so I sent in some DNA to the lab and researching what exactly they might be when I suddenly had a brain flash. Why not just track them and see if we can find out where they came from that way? So without telling anyone I went to track them down. Eventually I ended up at this spot where a swirling blue...well I guess a portal was. So I stuck my hand in it to see what it was and...I'm not sure. It started dragging me in and I couldn't get back out and then I was falling through the sky and there was a blinding light! And then...and then...well you know the rest, I was dumped out of the sky and splashed into the ocean and here I am.” She hesitated for a moment before bursting out, “Squall's gonna KILL me for not listening to him! Literally, ever see him mad? Well it isn't pretty, and he's gonna be so mad he probably chops my own head off.”
Anyway, enough emoing! That was Squall's job! The look on his face widened a bit and she found herself laughing. Concerned? “Payback for making me freak that you knew my name.” that was of course friendly teasing, and when he explained that he had only been a few days away from becoming SeeD Selphie's face scrunched up with compassion. “Oh man thats horrible! Just a few days away? Well we're just going to have to get you back so that you can take it!” His story was a lot shorter then hers, so she nodded, “And where's this Fate now? He wouldn't by chance be out getting something to eat would he? Because I've gotta admit I'm starving.” When she noticed his expression go sadder she laid her hand on his arm and glanced up at him, “Hey! Are you ok?”

Well, things were starting to look up. He may not have gotten Fate back, but he got a new friend and ally. And she was actually from his homeworld, so conversation's probably wouldn't start out as awkward and quiet. Plus she seemed bubbly. How could he have forgotten that this was how Selphie acted? Had it been that long since she had visited Trabia? That didn't matter, all that mattered was that she was here now and together they could find Fate and get back home. And now that he thought about it, she kind of acted like Fate. So he pretty much found his best friend, only in female form. That was nice to know.
He shook his head. "I think that's due to the fact I kept going through the same portals over and over. And, dozens may have been a bit of an exaggeration. Probably about half that number." He explained, folding his arms over his chest. The Garden Festival. He had never attended one, and from the looks of things he never would. Yup, she was just like Fate alright, touching swirly blue thingies that could have been potentially dangerous. They both semed to enjoy throwing caution to the wind and just going for whatever, but it was okay. He had grown to like that style of living, as it countered his more logical and cautious approach to things, which balanced it all out.
He didn't know how to answer her next question. So he figured he'd just tell her how it was. "Well, yes and no. I've been trying to get home, but at the same time, my friend was enjoying world hopping, and honestly I found it kind of fun too. So, a little of both." He responded shrugging. He smiled and nodded at her determined resolution. That was the spirit! He liked to hear that kind of stuff, it kept him motivated to keep going, otherwise he'd have lost the drive to do anything and would've just settled here on Cocoon. "There ya go!"
He listened to her story of how she ended up here. She sure had a lot to say and it didn't take her that long to say it. Had he not been paying attention, he would've been extremely lost as to just what in the world she was talking out. Luckily however, this was not the case. So there were new kind of monsters back home huh? That sounded exciting. "What did these monsters look like?" He asked, the thought of new monsters piquing his curiousity. "Hey now, he may be angry, but I'm sure he'll be more happy that you're alive. Don't worry about it." He said reassuringly.
He grinned and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Heh heh, yeah.... Sorry about that." His grin widened at her next statement. "Sounds like a plan to me! I could use that SeeD paycheck!" He said chuckling at his own joke, although it wasn't really a joke. He meant that, but he said it with a humourous tone. He gew quiet shortly afterward. Where was Fate? He probably was stuffing his face, the fatty. He felt Selphie's hand on his arm, but he still didn't speak for a moment, just staring off, lost in space. He snapped back and gave her a slightly sad smile. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Fate's kind of M.I.A. at the moment. I've been searching for him to no avail, but I'm sure he'll turn up." He said, appreciating her concern.
He wanted to change the subject quickly, but how?... That's it! She just said she was hungry, he could treat her to lunch. "Enough about that though, we've gotta get you something to eat! It'd be rude to keep a lady waiting on a meal, especially when she's starving." He said grinning again. "They've got some restaurants over there." He said pointing over at the many businessess behind them.

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie was glad that she had met someone nice from her own world. How lucky could one get? She could have been found by some creepy guy that tried to mug her and steal all her stuff! Ok, so that wouldn't happen. Mainly because she was SeeD, she could fight Ultimecia, some random mugger wouldn't have a chance against her. She'd knock them around with her nanchaku and then make them either go cry to their mamma's or get their life together and clean up their act. Selphie could get scary when she wanted to. But anyway, so if they could find this Fate guy, they might be able to go back to Garden and get away from this planet! Wouldn't that be nice...
Half of a dozen? Six portals were still a lot that he had tried, and none of them had taken him back? She really wished that Squall was here. Though he could be a stick in the mud for some things, Squall was always there with an idea or plan of action. He was good with getting them out of a mess. “Six is still a good number. Can you remember where the ones were that you tried?” At least she had picked up something from her years at SeeD. Oddly enough, like when she had led the missile team, Selphie had a clear head for tough situations. But then again, her bubbly nature made her sometimes forget all about caution and just go with the first idea she had, which was often just to go in and blow them all up. Explosions were the way to go!
World hopping? You could do that? The only hopping she had ever done was during that time compression...and of course just recently the portal. It hadn't been fun at all! She had been sucked in, dumped into the ocean, her arm had been jolted and started bleeding again and she could be anywhere and didn't know when she would get to go home. If ever! But of course, none of those things she said. Selphie tried to look at the positive side, which wasn't any of those things at the moment. She just wanted to get home and go back to happily planning the Garden Festival. And besides that, she needed to be back to help fight. Ultimecia was back! Or at least, thats what they had heard in Garden. “Fun? I didn't even know another world existed until today, and now your telling me theres a lot of them? I wonder how many there are!”
What did the monsters look like? “Weeeell, the one kind looked like a tiger sorta, but...well lets see, kinda like a dog to in some ways. But the other kind was huge and flew, bu it had a weird tail thingy.” With a shrug she nodded, that was about the best description she could give of the beasts. “Thats how I got the scratch on my arm to. I was taking care of one tiger and another one knocked me down and scratched me.” With a little shudder, Selphie remembered being held down by the weight of the tiger as it clawed at her and tried to bite her. She had crammed her Nanchaku into its mouth to keep it from biting her, and had managed to escape most of its claws, but one swipe had gotten her before Squall had come to help her out.
Would Squall be happy she was alive? Probably, now that she thought about it, Sonuske was probably right. He had laid into her for not being cautious when it had come to the tiger, but then he had given HER a hug and told her he never wanted to refer to her in past tense, and that he even cared for her. “I guess your right, I mean, no one can resist this face can they?!” With that she pointed to her own face and grinned.
The SeeD paycheck. “Yup! No kidding about that one.” No denying it was a nice thing, but she had been destined to become a SeeD since she was a young girl in that orphanage. Seifer was really the only one out of their gang that hadn't made SeeD, and that was just because he was to pompous to get it done. She wondered about him, now that he wasn't brainwashed...would he be nicer? It would be nice, she didn't have anything against Seifer if he cleaned up his act, but the chances of that were slim. And besides, he was always mean to their group, and Selphie was fiercely loyal to her friends. Fate was missing? “Well, I guess we're just going to have to find this Fate then!” With that Selphie nodded and looked around again. It might be harder then it seemed, but they could still do it!
Selphie brightened up when he mentioned that there was some good places to eat. “Super-duper-ultra-awesome! My stomach is gonna implode pretty soon if I don't eat. Ya know, like the beast is gonna come out and hurt someone.” With a bright smile she forgot about the fact that he was sad and couldn't wait until she could eat. One problem with Selphie was that when she was in the middle of something, she would forget to eat for a long time, which she had done for the last few days. “Lead the way partner.” Brushing off her dress, Selphie looked down at her boots and sighed, her feet were going to blister with her wet boots. With a decisive little nod, she reached down and peeled them off, taking off her socks and stuffing them into her boots as well. With that she straitened back up and held her boots and nanchaku with her right hand and gingerly moved her left arm. It still hurt, and the salt water had left it stinging, but it felt better and at least it wasn't bleeding all over the place. She was still wet, but the sun had sufficed to dry her out a little bit.
