Personality: Tseng is the stern, polite, and calm leader of the Turks. He has a no-nonsense attitude but still knows when to let loose. He is mostly level-headed but sometimes temperamental. In spite of his ruthlessness, he is in fact rather devoted to his associates and friends.
Tseng was not particularly anti-social, as he has friends, he just takes his business very seriously. He is very intelligent, and is respectful to his peers. Tseng maintains an outwardly professional demeanor, but is loyal and friendly to a select few, and has a dry sense of humor. He can be described as well-spoken and somewhat graceful.
History: Tseng was a brash youth who would often let his own emotions control him. This is an internal conflict that he has had to face through out his career. There was a mission in which Tseng was sent to rescue a kidnapped Shinra soldier. He was later faced with the decision to save the soldier’s life, or to recover stolen weapons that were to be sold on the back market. Following is emotions, he chose to save the Soldier rather than to protect Shinra’s secrets.
Veld, Tseng’s mentor and chief of the Turks, told Tseng that he was wrong for choosing the soldier’s life over ShinRa’s secrets, and that he was a Failure as a Turk. For this, Tseng feels guilty until at a later time when Veld is met with the same choice. On a mission to a ship to retrieve some data, there is an explosion that causes the ship to sink. Tseng gets trapped under a girder and, remember Verld words, tells Veld to leave him behind and finish the mission. Veld chooses, instead, to save Tseng.
He later tells Tseng that he was wrong, that sometimes there is more to life than just the job. Tseng faces the hard choice of choosing between his emotions and his job, again, when he is told that the charges will be dropped for his involvement in rescuing Veld of he turns both in both Veld and Elfe (the leader of Avalanche). Tseng claims to have made his choice before he shoots the two and loads them into a truck to take them away.
As it turns out, Tseng chose to go with his emotions. Elfe and Veld were still alive when Tseng loaded them into the truck and this allowed the two to escape from ShinRa. With Elfe and Veld assumed to be assassinated by Tseng, he has proven his loyalty to Shinra as far as know, and he returns to work. After this, Tseng lets his hair fall from his clasp--a symbol of letting go of the past and moving on.

Role Play Sample: Tseng exhaled as he leaned back in his chair and lifted his right hand to pinch bridge of his nose between thumb and forefinger. With a sigh, Tseng lowered his hand and stood. He could hear his spine pop from sitting too long as he stretched. After making his way around an obstacle course of boxes, files, and folders, Tseng arrived back to his desk. He then took a seat and shook the mouse of his computer before waiting for the computer to load out of sleep mode.
