Army Of One”It’s not a question of can or can’t, there are some things in life you just do.” Things were starting to get back to normal…but once again, something bad had to happen. While exploring the world of Gran Pulse once again, Lightning came across a swirling mass, walking up close to it she studied the thing carefully. With curiosity she reached her arm out to touch the mass, to see if it was even real, or something her imagination cooked up, but once her fingertips brushed against the swirling mass, her whole body was sucked into it. Thus…she ended up in this place…Gaia, Edge, whatever you wanted to call it. While her landing wasn’t graceful, Lightning hit the pavement and her gunblade landed next to her as she sat there for a second trying to figure out what happened before she looked around and noticed….this sure wasn’t Gran Pulse.
Brushing herself off and putting her gunblade back In its pouch behind her legs, Lightning sighed and pressed her fingers to her forehead, furrowing her eyebrows in frustration. This was just perfect, first Cocoon and Gran Pulse troubles, now not even near either world! What was this!? Lightning did remember Fang say something about other worlds out there…like that Fate guy who was seeing Vanille…all she wondered now, was what world this was. Lowering her hand from her face she took a few steps on the sidewalk before turning in a complete circle taking in the scenery…though there wasn’t much to look at. Buildings and concrete, it sure wasn’t anywhere near close to Gran Pulse, more like an abandoned Cocoon was more like it.
“Guess…Sazh was right….Lady bad luck is on our side….my side.” Light mumbled as she folded her arms across her chest and began walking, looking at the buildings all around to try and find something to tell her where she was. This was going to take some getting used to, but there was one familiar thing on these streets. PSICOM soldiers? Lightning stopped on a corner and watched as a few soldiers walked around the area, guns out and just seeming like they were guarding the area. What? Why? How did PSICOM get here? She didn’t really care, besides, going up and asking would probably get her in trouble with the guys. They probably all thought she was still a L’Cie, which she wasn’t, but maintaining her L’Cie powers and Eidolon was a gift she was glad she kept.
Lightning then turned away from the PSICOM soldiers and headed in the other direction, not wanting to get into a fight with them right now. For now, she just wanted to know where she was…what world or city she was in. It seemed hopeless right about now. The worst part was knowing how to get back to Gran Pulse or Cocoon. Perhaps PSICOM had a tool or something that could get her back…getting it would be the hard part. Infiltrating their bases wouldn’t be hard, taking them all down on her own might be a little difficult. Just when things started to hit rock bottom for Lightning right now, she saw a poster on the wall of some building. Talking about Edge and Midgar…was that where she was? Was this city called…Edge? Or Midgar? Well it was one step forward at least. Now maybe this wouldn’t be so bad, Lightning liked to explore places…so maybe this was a good thing, spend a little bit of time here, not having to worry about Pulse or Snow…call it…a vacation. “Tch…Great.”Words: 678 Muse: Goodish Tagged: Genesis Notes: So...my theory, all thread starts suck. The end.

My soul, corrupted by vengeance Hath endured torment, to find the end of the journey In my own salvation And your eternal slumber "It appears Sephiroth really did make a mess out of Midgar. I would be lying to myself if I said I am not enjoying the sight of Shin-ra headquarters destroyed... Wretched simple minded idiots got what they deserved.", Genesis muttered to himself as he looked up wards at the skyscraper, his eyes almost looking up at the sky. He felt his stomach in a bit of a knot as he recalled what he used to do there, his missions and his sparring sessions with his two best and only friends, until... Well... His desertion and betrayal. He did not know what had brought him there, maybe it was just morbid curiosity on his behalf when he learned what Sephiroth had done and what led to ti's destruction? Or maybe the ex-1st Class SOLDIER just wanted to take a trip down memory lane and remember what it was like back then? Regardless of his motives, the man stood there, crimson coat flapping as a gust of wind passed by the deserted city of Midgar, once an impressive monument to the human way of adapting, now a godforsaken place where not even the ghosts of the past wished to visit. "Such a shame... Proud and powerful warriors that stand against those that did wrong, only to be ordered around by those who're motives were as wrong as the ones they order their elimination... Honor? Was there any honor in striking down those that did nothing wrong? I guess I can't speak ill of their doings. After all... I did things I shouldn't have done.", the man said to himself and smirked, the memories of his past flowing through his mind, like an endless river. He did not feel bad about it though and if he was sent back in time, he would do the exact same thing over and over again. He did not regret his doings, because what he did made it possible for him to find out what was the Gift of The Goddess... Reason enough to be satisfied.
Suddenly, Genesis heard a sub-machine gun get cocked, the sound of metal springing into metal was heard by the man, following it was the sound of footsteps coming his way. Genesis smirked, it appeared that his little trip to memory lane distracted him from what was happening around, thus making it possible for a small group of soldiers to get the drop on the man. They were surrounding Genesis, hidden among the debris of the ghost city, though the man knew how many they were using his enhanced hearing. Two on each of his sides and three behind him, wearing body armor and each with sub-machine guns at hand, ready to be pointed at their target, which seemed to be Genesis. "HALT! DO NOT MOVE! HANDS WHERE WE CAN SEE THEM!", one of them shouted as he signaled the others, their laser-sights pointing straight at Genesis. A smug smirk was heard, echoing through the empty street and following was Genesis arrogant voice as he said to the leader, looking at him from the top of his shoulder, "I suppose it's true. The wicked shall know no rest...". Genesis did not complain to their order, the Rapier still being held in his right hand. The soldier repeated the order, though the minute he did so, Genesis conjured his Magic Barrier, which in turn made the soldiers fire upon him. Much to their dismay, the bullets were stopped by Genesis' barrier. The minute their clips were out of bullets, Genesis dismissed his barrier, charging swiftly at his opponents head on. The first two took took a swing each, right in their heads, making them collapse onto the floor. The other three were trying to reload their weapons, but to no avail because with a of his left arm, Genesis used Flash, sending 5 balls of fire from his hand at his opponent, hitting them in their hands and causing them to lower their weapons. This made it possible for Genesis to swiftly place himself between them, only then to spin on himself, hitting the soldiers straight in their heads and launching them backwards. Two had their heads encounter a metal pillar that belonged to an abandoned building while the last one went head first into a rock that stuck out of the pavement. For some reason, genesis did not end their lives, which would be an easy task given their stupidity, but rather knocked them out for a while. The man looked at the first ones he had knocked down, his eyes scanning their uniforms and much to his surprise, Genesis did not recognize them. He expected them to be Shinra, but they weren't. Suddenly, a voice filled with static echoed through the area, coming from a communicator on one of them, "Group Delta 5 respond... Group Delta 5 please respond!... This Edge Base #2, please respond!.................... Group Delta 3, head to Group Delta 5's last known location A.S.A.P.", the man said on the other line, making Genesis sigh in annoyance. It looked like this new group had rooted themselves in Edge... Well, Genesis had nothing better to do, so why not investigate these guys for a bit? Perhaps he could find something useful to do with them... Leaning forward a bit, Genesis summoned his black wing, a few feathers falling softly and gracefully onto the ground as it sprouted out of his shoulder, only to spread to the side, just before Genesis flapped them once, sending him flying upwards. When he was high enough, Genesis' eyes searched for Edge, which stood just a few miles away from Midgar. The man then soared through the sky, making his way to Edge very high up so he could not be detected. When Genesis was finally on top of Edge, he swiftly descended upon an empty alley, dismissing his wing as soon as his feet slowly and gracefully touched the ground, his eyes always looking around for any signs of life. It looked like he was safe for now... He just hoped the group from later wouldn't provide a good enough description of Genesis, otherwise he couldn't walk around Edge without getting shot at.

Army Of One”It’s not a question of can or can’t, there are some things in life you just do.” This dead town was not something Lightning specifically cared for, though it beat the upbeat towns of Cocoon or the crazy bloodthirsty wildlife of Gran Pulse. The quietness was soothing actually, not having to listen to Snow go on about him and Serah, not having to worry about protecting those citizens that were so against her once before, it was relaxing in a weird way. Though PSICOM being here, that was a problem, if they spotted her and recognized her as a L’Cie they’d definitely come after her, not that it worried her all that much, she had great powers and fighting skills from being part of the Guardian Corps from Cocoon, she knew a lot about what PSICOM to do so it gave her an advantage. Plus there was always Odin, her Eidolon which stuck with her even after her focus was completed, which she was glad to have kept him. They were a great team together.
Walking down in the opposite direction of those PSICOM soldiers, Lightning was letting her eyes wander, this city was…well gloomy, dark, and very quiet. Not exactly your best vacation spot, but it would do for now. As she continued to walk down the sidewalk, not a person near her, she heard the sound of engines roaring and tires skidding across pavement. It sounded very familiar too, like the machines they had back on Cocoon. With a theory in her head, Lightning turned to face behind her as a PSICOM military vehicle zoomed down the street past her, another one on its way, but this one stopped. It had soldiers hanging onto the outside, so they spotted the attire of a Guardian Corps member. “What is a GC doing here?” One soldier said as he leaped down from the vehicle. Lightning wasn’t having a good feeling about this right now, she held her stance tall and her expressions were blank. “You idiot! That’s the Pulse L’Cie!” Another one shouted before the soldiers all started hopping off and out of the vehicle, guns out ready to fire, in an orderly fashion of course.
As the soldiers aimed their guns at Lightning, she smirked a small smile on her face as her crystal blue eyes flickered between each soldier. She moved her arm swiftly behind her back and pulled out her gunblade, fully loaded and read to fire. Bullets were fired from PSICOM’s machine guns and Lightning leaped out of the line of fire with a side flip which got out of the way before running back towards the group of soldiers, shooting bullets from her own gunblade at the soldiers. Sure it wasn’t fair that she maintained the power and agility of a L’Cie, but hey, life wasn’t fair.
As Lightning leapt into the group of soldiers, she slashed her blade around knocking a few over at a time, but others used a manadrive magical device and sent her flying back with a burst of water magic. Flying backwards she stuck her gunblade into the pavement hard and skidded against the ground to keep herself from going back any farther. “Hmph…Looks like someone got a backbone.” She muttered to herself getting back to her feet and wondering if she would just charge back in as they were reloading their weapons, or summon Odin, make it a quick easy fight.
