"True. Guess your parents dying is better then them abandoning you." He said blantly. His own question made her wonder what he would have turned out to be if his parents had kept him. He knew he would have all these issues, that was for sure. If his parents would have kept him prehaps he would have never got the chance to meet Sonuske, Angeal, or Vanille. Honestly, Fate did not hate anyone except his parents. He tried not to dwell on the past, but it was hard when you kept apart of your past right there with you.
Despite his strong hatred for his parents he did not want revenge on them or anything bad at all. They had their reasons, right? Fate would be content with just knowing the reason why. Now Fang was making him feel bad for not mentioning he was a l'cie to Vanille. He was sure she was not doing this intentionally though. He let out a small sigh and rubbed the back of his neck, nevously.
"Trust me, I wanted to tell her and making that promise was pretty stupid of me. But... I was looking at the big picture, as you would say. Once Vanille or you completed that focus she would turn to crystal for five hundred years. When she awake I wouldn't be alive. So she never knows, never get hurt..." He ran his hands in the sand to draw attention from Fang. It was her 'sister' he was talking about so of course she would not like the boy lying to her. "Also from what Vanille told me, putting someone into an emotional state only causes the brand to advance more rapidly. I didn't want to risk it."
Fate believed all that he had said was very good reasons for not telling Vanille. Making the promise when he already was a l'cie was pretty dumb, but it was to reassure her. "Sometimes knowing nothing is better than knowing at all." He added. They would be no funeral for Fate just yet. He had a job to finish and then a friend to get home. He tried his best to hide his smile when she said he should be glad she did not hit him.
She sure was violent! "Fang, If you want to hit me man up and swing. You don't have to use Vanille as an excuse. She can't protect me from everything, you know?" He pulled his hands from the sands, cuffing them and allowing the sand to fall. No, he did not want Fang to hit him nor would he want anyone. He just hated the fact that she was using Vanille as an excuse not to hit him.

~HighWind Nightmare~“Yeah, its unfair, but guess what, we grin and bear it like good l'cie.” Something told her there was more behind him then just the irritatingly cheerful front. Yes he was cheerful, but the comment about it being better that they were dead then them abandoning you made her raise her brow. Now what did that mean? “Either way their dead to you.” Was all the comment she was going to make on that subject. What happened happened for a reason. Was anything pure chance? Of course, lady luck helped in your life, but that only went so far.
Everyone had a dark side, however she was just now starting to think that Fate had one as well. Yet who was she to pry? She wasn't telling him very much about her own life, so how could she expect him to tell her what the hell he was thinking? She had no right, so she just closed her eyes to get a few moments of rest and wondered about her own future. Angeal had told her she would have a future, but at this point, it was hard to say if she would or not. She was to stubborn to give up now though, no, she would keep going, no matter what happened. No matter what happened she would face it head on and beat it. Still, the future hung in the balance, anything could tip it in either direction.
Fang didn't get that he wanted to but wouldn't. She was a blunt person, saying what she wanted to, whether others liked it or not. She got it out, regardless if they liked it or not. Still she was happy he got the fact that they would be turned to crystal and probably not awaken for a long time. It showed he at least could realize that. “I suppose your right. But what if your wrong? What if we find a way to get rid of these brands? Or come back to life? What are you going to do then? Hide it from her then as well?” The whole situation was messed up, and here she was actually being nice to Fate. Well, as nice as she could get in the situation. “Vanille doesn't think that way, she would want to know...But I'll shock you and not tell her.” Of course, little did she know that at the same moment she was telling Fate that Vanille would want to know the truth, Vanille was hiding the truth from her. Ironic.
“I disagree, knowing what your facing is better then not knowing.” Of course, if they had to be together a lot because of Vanille Fang was sure they would disagree quite a bit. Like on the subject of hitting him. She hit him and she would guarantee he wouldn't come up unharmed. Still, telling him that would probably just make him go on a long rant about how he was a man and could take her abuse. The look she gave him was a promise that he was right, Vanille couldn't protect him from everything. “Hitting you now would be loosing control of myself, which I don't often do. So I'll take a rain check on that hit.” She laid there and then suddenly rose to her feet swiftly. She was standing with her back toward him, “I don't use excuses, if I wanted to hit you that bad nothing would hold me back.” With a turn of her head, Fang was looking at him over her shoulder. What she said hadn't been a threat, rather it was simply the truth. Loud and clear. “Why do you want me to hit you so damn bad? How many times have you mentioned it now?”

Either way they're dead to you? He looked at her out the corner of her eyes. Maybe he could learn something from Fang. Well, he could learn something from anyone, but maybe he could learn how to be much stronger. She was so calm and piece together. Fate was calm in his own way, but he was nowhere piece together. He looked perfectly fine on the outside, but on the inside he steady dealt with turmoil with himself. What she said had some proof to it, but it also had some flaw to it. "...Some need proof of their parent's death."
He shrugged when she asked what he would do. He would just have to come out with the honest truth if that were to happen. "As you said earlier, there's no way around a focus. You grin and bare through it. So Cocoon is going to be destroyed, you both sleep for five hundred years, and you both awake. When you both awake I won't be here so it works, right?" He sighed, "If someone figures out a way then I guess that would make us both wrong. I'll deal with the consequences if that happens." He stood back up finally, brushing the grains of sand off himself. He was sure if he explained it to Vanille if the time ever came she would not be too upset with him. He was just trying to do what was best for the situation. "I appreciate it greatly that you're not going to mention this to Vanille."
It seemed like they were had reached another disagreement, but at least they were not butting heads. He smiled slightly at her and shrugged. "Not always. If I were going to die tomorrow I rather not know," He said, "Knowing death is lingering right over your head and there's nothing you can do about it is scary. Frightening." He did want Fang to hit him. Sadly, she was not budging. He was going to use it against her or anything like that. He just felt like her deserve it for all thatt he done. "I'm a idiot. That's a good reason. There's is also the false promise I made to Vanille. I can seriously go on with this list for some time if you like."
He closed his eyes for a moment. Opening them back up, his eyes had turned from their purple color to crimson. "Let's go find ourself a Vanille. I hear they're very rare in these parts." He smiled slightly. Fortunately, before Fate had left Vanille he had given her his cellphone. It gave off small electronic waves that Fate could easily pick up as long as she was not too far. Sometime it did pay to be an electical capacitor.

~HighWind Nightmare~“Yeah, its unfair, but guess what, we grin and bear it like good l'cie.” She was right. There was definitely something behind that ridiculous humor and facade of happy go lucky. Just like there was something up with Vanille. Fang was good at reading people, and though she had no idea what was the matter with Fate, just the way he could go from 'funny' to talking about his parents like he actually wanted proof of their deaths sent up a warning flag. Still, it was his life, and she wouldn't dig into it, everyone had their own problems. To her it was just the fact that if you wanted something, or you had to do something, you did it. Like the focus. Yeah, it was unfair, but she would do it, because it needed to be done to save her friend from becoming a cie'th. In the words of a woman she hadn't even met yet, 'it isn't a matter of can or can't, there are some things in life you just do.' That basically summed up her situation to a T.
She shrugged when he thanked her. “I still think its wrong, keeping it from her. But the matter stands that it isn't my place to tell her, its yours. And I'll respect that and keep my mouth shut.” He would deal with it when the time came? He was going to need a better plan then that, but then again, she didn't exactly have a plan either, so she couldn't say anything on that subject either. She would want to know exactly when and where she was going to die, she would come prepared for it then. Of course, everyone had their own ideas and thoughts on the subject. “Your gonna need lady luck on your side then.” Was there anything they agreed on? Probably not, at least not with their record so far.
With a raise of her eyebrow, Fang turned her head and watched him with steady green eyes. “I don't want to hear the reasons. Just go on from here and don't hurt her...ever, and I'll call it good and not hit you.” That was her way of telling him she was fine, yet there was the warning in her words. He crossed Vanille, or rather, hurt her just once and he would be wishing she was just going to hit him. Overprotective? Yes very, Fang couldn't deny that, she was overprotective of Vanille, but she wasn't going to stop. The young woman meant more to her then anyone. She had went halfway, it was up to him now.
She had been fair with that, or at least she had thought so. Did he ever stop the joking thing? Yes, she had seen him get serious, if only for a few moments at a time, so he must be able to get serious. Still, he seemed able to bounce from serious to joking to serious to joking again on a drop of a hat. Never sure what he was going to pull out next, Fang just shrugged it off. Vanille was a rare-...? Wow. Sometimes she had no idea how to respond to something he had said. Answering what he had joked about with a shrug, she looked around, “And just how are we going to find Missy?”

If they were still alive did they ever think about Fate? Did they ever wonder what type of man he would grow into without any parenting or a guardian to look after him? Despite his personality and his outlook on life he did feel like trash at time. Vanille was the first person that he told everything about himself to. She did not run away, she did not cast him aside. Instead she welcomed him with open arms. So maybe it was stupid of him, but he wanted to help a person as great as her. She deserved it.
"Still, I greatly appreciate it. Chances are i'm going to end up blurting it out by accident. I'm good at doing stuff like." He smiled slightly. Fate was not one who believed in Lady Luck or luck at all. Everything happened for a reason... It was fate. It was fate that led him to where he was at right now. Fate could feel the urge for another joke rising, but he could not allow it to escape. He was actually enjoy this little talk he was having with Fang. "So are we talking about Lady Bad Luck or Lady Good Luck," He shrugged, "Lady Bad Luck is very faithful to me. Seriously, I told her multiple times that I didn't like her and she still won't leave me alone."
So much for holding his humor in, right? Well, at least he tried. How where they going to find Vanille now? Simple. Look for the only other girl with green eyes. Unfortantely, that would take too long. Luckily, Fate was on the job. "I could go into huge details about my powers and stuff like that, but i'll just make it short," He paused, "... We follow the north star and it shall lead us to Vanille." Ya know, I think she was startin' to like ya a little and now ya ruinin' it... Seriously, what did you expect? He loved his humor and someday he knew he would die for it. He looked at Fang, figured she would not like the joke. "Seriously, let's just say Vanille has a tracking device on her. I didn't think I would have to use it..."

~HighWind Nightmare~“Yeah, its unfair, but guess what, we grin and bear it like good l'cie.” Fang shrugged, whatever worked. Of course, that didn't stop her from feeling guilty of her decision not to tell Vanille. She didn't keep secrets from her best friend. Ever. Yet, the situation was different, for now, if Vanille never asked, she would never have to lie to her. If Vanille asked her outright about it, she would have to tell her, as that was just her way, but if she didn't ask, Fang wouldn't just go out of her way to tell her. So thats where she stood on the subject. “I could tell that when ya told me 'bout my focus. But maybe that was all for the better.”
Good lady luck or bad lady luck? Why would she be talking about bad lady luck? “Obviously I'm talkin' 'bout good lady luck.” Then he had to go and ruin the calm, serious mood they were having and go on with another joke. MORE jokes? Fang supposed she should be used to this, somehow she thought it was going to be an every day thing. She was just going to have to get used to it, but it was easier said then done. Who could joke every moment of the day anyway? Gritting her teeth, she managed not to say anything else on that subject and didn't even roll her eyes like she wanted to. The jokes...would have to stop if they were going to manage being around each other.
And yet...they continued. For a moment Fang stood there with her eyes closed and palm resting against her forehead before opening her eyes and glancing over at Loon. Was he serious? Eyes still closed, she stood there and took a breath in and then a breath in a rhythm, wondering why she had to get stuck with him for the time being. He wasn't that bad, actually he was getting better, but that still didn't mean he was on her good side. Still, she could stand the jokes if he would direct her to where Vanille was.
If she could just find Vanille she would be happy. That was the thing she needed to do! Was Vanille closer to becoming a cie'th? Would they be able to fulfill their focus in time to save her? Fang was getting frustrated just at the thought. Would they ever be able to be on Gran Pulse without a focus again? Time...it was getting short. She needed to come up with some sort of an idea as fast as she possibly could. She was running out of time! They needed some sort of action, if only her mind wasn't erased of that memory! With an exasperated sigh, she nodded, “Ok then, lets go find her.” Words: 582 Muse: Could have been better...could also have been worse though lol Tagged: Fate Notes: none
