The Great Warrior
"It's the way of the warrior."
"It's the way of the warrior."
"Where am I?" Nanaki said to himself, looking around the area he had stumbled upon. Smelling the air, turning his head this way and that so his ears could pick up any familiar sounds, Red XIII found that he did not recognize this place. He appeared to be in a vast grassy field much like the usual field he saw on Gaia. However, what he was seeing did not look anything like Gaia. Turning to his left, he saw a small mountain range that opened up to a city just down the edge of land leading into the ocean. It wasn't a city Nanaki was familiar with. It wasn't anything he recognized.
Last Nanaki knew, he had just left Rocket Town to make his journey home to Cosmo Canyon. Instead, he found himself here. Surely, if there had been a city that been recently built outside of Rocket Town he would've known beforehand? It wouldn't just pop up out of the blue. That and he was sure that the mountain range near Rocket Town didn't overlook the sea like this area did. "What is this place?" he murmured to himself. Could it be possible that he had accidentally wandered through a portal?
Thinking about it, Red XIII had heard many rumors about them. He hadn't seen any though and yet, somehow he ended up wandering through one and here he was. It hadn't been intentional, of course. Nanaki would have rather stayed on Gaia. Now, where he was, he hadn't a clue and it bothered him. Would Cloud and the others come looking for him? Would he even be able to get back home? Nanaki wasn't sure but he knew portal hopping wouldn't be a good idea if he had known that he was walking right into one.
The sounds, the smells...these weren't anything like back home. Maybe he was overreacting and he was still on Gaia? Yet, his heart was telling him otherwise. Even his animal instincts were telling him that something wasn't right here. Even his logic told him that he was in an unfamiliar place. Looking down at the city, Nanaki figured that would be the best way of getting to the bottom of this. Surely, the humans here would know where he was? Once he would figure this out, he could attempt calling the others using his cell phone.
Nanaki just hoped the cell would manage to call his friends. He didn't know how else to get himself out of this predicament. Hopefully, people here wouldn't be too alarmed by his appearance. Red XIII wasn't like a typical monster but he could be easily mistaken for one. He didn't realize that his red and orange fur somewhat resembled the Moombas here. Where he had a lion-like appearance, Nanaki was also quite wolfish more so. His tattoos and braces even suggested that he wasn't your typical monster. Then again, he could be mistaken for a Guardian Force.
Loping down the paved road leading to the city, Nanaki's fiery tail moved to and fro behind him with each careful step. He prowled like a feline but his paws were more like that of a dog's. As he got closer, he could see that the city wasn't anything like the cities he was accustomed to. It looked somewhat less modern. In fact, it sort of reminded him of the style Kalm was in. Entering the city, he definitely could tell he wasn't anywhere near home. There hadn't been any place like this on Gaia.
Wandering into the city, Red XIII was a little dismayed to see that not many people were out on the streets. Much like Kalm, the road was cobbled. Lightly padding over to the harbor, Nanaki saw an old fisherman looking out from the docks. Carefully, Nanaki stalked up to the man. He didn't want to startle him too badly. A talking beast was alarm enough. If he could just ask the old man using his voice before he spotted Nanaki then things would be fine. "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me where I am?"
The old man didn't even look at him yet as he spoke. "Aye, you're in the city of Dollet. The harbor city." Nanaki felt very confused hearing that answer. Dollet?! This definitely wasn't home then. "Dollet? Never heard of the place...thank you." Once Nanaki was done talking, he turned to leave. Just as he did so, the old fisherman turned to look over at Red XIII. Seeing what Nanaki was, the old man's eyes widened. "What the-?!" he exclaimed when Nanaki was out of ear shot. Before long, rumors would spread far and wide about a strange red and orange furred creature with a fiery tail tip that could talk.
Unaware of the fact he had been seen, Nanaki wandered further down the cobbled road and paused. There was a road leading to his right up a long street toward what sounded like a fountain. On his left, there was a little stair leading down to the beach itself. Right now, not many waves were crashing against the land. Red XIII should be able to get a good signal and call there. Leaping down the stair in a single bound, Nanaki wandered down the beach.
The soft send sifted through his toes as he paused to pull his cell phone out from under a gold brace.
