Hopeful DreamerWishes can come true. But not if you just wait for miracles. Miracles are things we make for ourselves. Here, and now.‘Don’t touch the swirling mass Vanille…whatever you do, DON’T TOUCH IT.’
Those words screamed in her head as Vanille curiously looked at a swirling mass in front of her. She was on Gran Pulse and never in her life had she seen something like this…at least on pulse. There was a time that portals transported herself and the ‘gang’ from Cocoon to Pulse and vice versa, but this one was just out in the middle of nowhere. Oerba’s outskirts to be exact, it was strange for on to just pop up right here in front of her, and Vanille was so intrigued. She wondered where it would lead to…another part of Pulse? Cocoon? Another world?! Oh the possibilities were endless! At least it seemed that way. Bending her knees a bit she stared at the mass and had one hand in a loose fist pressing against her mouth as curiosity got the best of her and she reached her hand forward towards the swirling mass. Once her fingertips touched the mass, feeling nothing, she was thrown into the vortex without warning. A high pitched yelp was made once the vortex closed and Vanille was sent spiraling through the portal.
Her scream continuing as she felt like she was free falling, Vanille waved her arms around, as if it would help her fly or something like that, but nope, nothing helped. She closed her sharp green eyes tightly as she waited for some sort of impact…but nothing, at least yet. The feeling of falling soon came to an end as she was thrown out of the portal and hit some hard ground with a thud as she started to land on her feet but her momentum coming out of that portal was too great, so she ended up tumbling and landing on her bum instead. Rubbing her head Vanille looked back at the portal that quickly closed up, leaving her in this new…strange world that she had no knowledge of. It certainly wasn’t Cocoon and it certainly wasn’t Gran Pulse…so the question remained…where was she?
Standing up and rubbing her hands on the side of her hips Vanille looked around at the quite gloomy city. Her eyebrows furrowed and her usual happy expression was gone, more concern spread across her face as she was indeed hopelessly lost. “Ouch.” She squeaked in her Australian accented voice. Her eyes glancing every direction as she spun around slowly in a circle, this was no place for a girl like her. She belonged on a happy planet, a wild place, like Gran Pulse, this was anything but that. The dark tone to everything and the bland people that walked by staring at her wild attire, it made her feel uncomfortable, unsafe…and very confused.
Folding her hands together and taking a few steps on the sidewalk Vanille just looked around, wondering what this place was. She stuck out of this type of crowd, her clothes and hair bright and colorful while the people seemed to remain neutral and dark. “This…is not good.” She spoke quietly to herself before stopping on the sidewalk and huffing a bit throwing her fists down to her sides and shaking her head. “Fang…oh! How do I get back now?!” She griped in a tone that was worrisome and concerned. Words: 650 Muse: Goodish Tagged: Akai Notes: Sorry it sort of...well sucks. >.>

Akai had been stuck in Edge for at LEAST an hour. In that time he had gotten lost four times, accidentally stepped on the tail of a giant dog beast, and had yet to encounter ANYONE who wasn't dressed in the same generic outfits. If he was being perfectly honest with himself, he would admit that lighting the town on fire to get some sort of response had occurred to him and was looking more and more like a good idea.
Of course, as soon as I say that... He thought, shaking his head as he smiled a little.
"Finally!" he called loudly, approaching the red haired beauty in bright clothing. "Someone who doesn't look like they're trying to compete for the 'Most Dull Outfit' award."
The red mage ignored the looks he received, in part because he was fairly certain no one in the entire city was strong enough to handle him. The stronger someone was, the more likely they were to be... eccentric in appearance. The more unique and unusual they looked, the more likely they were to be able to shoot laser beams out of their eyes or something. Honestly, some of the people he'd been forced to tangle with were quite ridiculous.
He swaggered up to the girl, that same smile on his face. "You lost too?" he sounded somewhat hopeful. If she wasn't lost, maybe she could explain what was going on.

Hopeful DreamerWishes can come true. But not if you just wait for miracles. Miracles are things we make for ourselves. Here, and now.Standing there all huffy and puffy wasn’t going to get the redhead anywhere. Better start trying to figure out where she was, instead of standing there just dazing off looking at the place. With a sigh she started to walk off again, moving through the thin crowd easily avoid the people’s sharp stares as she kept her eyes down on the ground. Vanille really did stick out, she was bright and colorful, and that could just be her personality description, her outfit was something else. Tribal wear from Gran Pulse, a bear sash on her backside with her bindingrod latched onto it, and all sorts of beads and bracelets covering her arms and neck, she was so out of place here. It was far worse than when she had been on Cocoon, at least the colors and people there were lively, active, and not this…dull.
As her feet scraped against the hard concrete slowly, Vanille then heard a voice, directed at her obviously, at least that’s what she assumed when hearing the words ‘you lost too’. Oh boy was she ever! Lifting her eyes to see a man in front of her, Vanille clasped her hands together and held them just below her chin, right around her heart as she nodded her head some, her curls bouncing ever so slightly as she nodded and a small smile twitched on the corners of her lips. “Was it that obvious?” She said before flickering her eyes to the staring and uncaring people around her. Yeah it was probably obvious.
Letting her arms drift down to her sides, Vanille sighed heavily before shaking her head some. “Any idea what this place is called?” She squeaked before cocking her head to the side a bit and blinking, staring at Akai before her eyes widened and she gasped. “Oh! I’m so sorry! I completely forgot my manners.” She said as a wide smile appeared on her face, oh yes, the typical happy-go-lucky Vanille was back in action! Smiles everywhere! “My name is Oerba Dia Vanille…but you can just call me Vanille. What’s yours?” She said shifting her weight around as she rocked on her heals some with a couple giggles after her words were spoken. Typical Vanille…happy, giggly, all smiles, that totally screamed ‘Vanille’ all over. She was probably one of the happiest people alive…despite any situation she were in…like this one. Sometimes, Akai reflected, taking a good look at the girl in front of him, I manage to get tangled up with some weird people.
This thought, of course, was kept locked up in his head as he decided to be a little... over the top. And so, as he removed his hat, holding it against his chest as he bowed to her.
"It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance, Oerba Dia Vanille. My name is Provoka no Akai. I am a Red Mage, and have been called the Red Wizard since gaining the Blessing of Bahamut." The mage shifted back upright, placing his hat back on his head, then gave a soft smile. "You may, of course, refer to me as Akai."
"To answer your question, we are at the intersection of 17th avenue south and 112th street north west. The city, as far as I've gathered, is called Edge. And no one here is nearly as cool as us. That I've found anyways."
And he'd been looking, too! It was like this entire city had never seen someone who wasn't from the same, generic, nondescript, fashion blind, template. He'd, of course, started entertaining the notion that this was, like a couple others he knew (his own home town of Pravoka sprang to mind), a town that completely lacked any important people. Of course, they were all important to themselves, or each other, or whatever, but hardly any could be described as 'Adventurers' or 'Heroes' or anything of the sort. It was really rather irritating.

Vanille listened carefully as he introduced himself…very formally with hat off and a bow. It wasn’t the type of greeting she was used to, mostly just a ‘hey how are ya’ or something like that, a fist bump with Fang or something totally informal like that, but this just made her smile a bit. It was quite interesting how other people from other worlds acted…quite interesting. With a small giggle a loose fist raised to her face as she contained her laughter in small little doses. “It’s nice to meet you Akai.” She said before lowering her hand and folding her hands together behind her back, a small smile still on her face, though she still was a bit worried on how she was planning on getting home…if it was even possible.
That thought horrified her. What if Vanille couldn’t get back to Gran Pulse? To Fang…to Fate? To the rest of her family…the ‘gang’ and all those fluffy sheep that roamed around everywhere! It would be a nightmare to be away from home so long…and blending into a place like this…oh no she wasn’t even going to TRY that…not even think about it! “Edge…strange” She pondered letting her sharp green eyes drift around the area as she turned her head a bit, taking in the scenery…not that it was much to look at. Dull and dark, that was the easiest way to describe it. “Lovely.” She mumbled more to herself before turning her attention back onto Akai. “So…any idea on how to leave this…Edge place?” She said almost in a sulky tone as she started to lose her spunk, not much of a happy mood anymore, even if that was usually her style. Being away from Gran Pulse once again just made her homesick and made her miss Fang, Light and the others.
If there was no way to get home, she would probably go crazy! Stuck in this god forsaken place. She heaved out a heavy sigh before placing her hands on her hips and turning around, staring down the street at the people walking back and forth, from point A to point B. “This place isn’t that lively…where I come from, everything is bright and full of life…nature and freedom…everything this place isn’t.” She said in her thick accent as she turned back around and shrugged her shoulders up and down for a moment. “Oh well, best make the most of it eh? It can’t be that horrible here now can it? Though I probably shouldn’t jinx it.” She sighed once again feeling like she was talking too much. Vanille had the tendency to babble, talk when it was unnecessary just to fill the silence and keep the spirit alive, but who was she kidding…there was no spirit or life here…why try to help something that can’t be fixed? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words: 578 Muse: Pretty good!
