Aerith Gainsborough ...::Flower Girl of Midgar::.... Aeirth stood out side her church. As she was enjoying planting some flowers around the church today. Her hands were a bit dirty, but she enjoyed growing the flowers and selling them. She thought that she might have a way to help this world. And this was part of her contribution. But the other one, was being there with Cloud when he completes his focus. And that was the main reason she was here. But whose to say that she could not pick up where she left off in the mean time? She smiled as she got her work done for the day. As she wiped some sweat off her fore head then when the sun was setting. She knew this was kinda dangerous being here by herself. But if people would remember she was not exactly defenseless. She could fight. So she could handle any thing that came her way. She was hoping that Zack would be back tonight though. She had their room all ready upstairs in the church. Though she knew he was staying with Cloud. She hoped he would stay with her at least just one night. She thought about Zack for a moment...... He was having a hard time with the whole L'Cie thing. She knew what he was going through with Cloud and that it was hard on him. But Aerith was there for Zack when ever he needed her. She would never turn him away either. She was so much in love Zack, and was glad that he was here...Even if it was for a brief moment....He was hers....She wanted to see him tonight so she picked up her cell phone that Cloud bought her and she called Zack to see what he was doing tonight. She wanted to have a little time with him tonight. Their love was so strong nothing could draw them away from each other. She was hoping though that he was not getting in over his head with this....She had to let him know....That marriage was not possible. That would break his heart though. But she was here for a purpose and even if they did marry, it would not last long...She waited for him to answer his cell as she started to cry thinking about what she had to say.....

::...The Puppy...:: Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. Zack yawned and stretched, having just gotten back with his trip to Delatorr with Repa. Her plan seemed great, at least if the worst did come. He was depressed thinking about that. He didn’t want to think of the alternative, because that would mean Cloud had completed his focus and was now dead. He cringed at the thought as he sighed a bit. He was tired, but all of a sudden he didn’t feel sleepy anymore. In fact he didn’t feel like going in and talking to Tifa and Cloud either. They were great, Cloud was his best friend, but if he went in there he would have to try to be cheerful, and he didn’t feel up to that right now.
Instead he got on his bike, revved the engine and started in the other direction, going toward her church. He needed to talk to Aerith. She always made him feel better, plus it had been a few days since he had seen her last. He missed her like crazy! So he hummed as he made his way toward where he knew she would be.
Wheels on his bike turned around and around as he made his way down the roads. Finally he saw the place he was looking for. Flowers were everywhere he could see. It smelled so nice here, the flowers made him feel calm. The best thing ever had happened when he had fallen into her church. Taking a deep breath he parked his bike and shut off the engine. At that exact moment his phone started ringing. He shrugged, fished it out of his pocket and flipped it open, taking the time to see who was calling. “Heya babe, I was just thinking about you.” He said with a grin since he was right outside her door.
That’s when he noticed the crying on the other end. He hurried for the door to the church. “Babe?” He asked worriedly, the last time she had called him crying Cloud had almost died. He held his breath, hoping she was alright, but glad to that he was right here if something wasn’t alright. He would always be here. He had told her he would never leave, and he intended to keep that promise no matter what the costs were.

Aerith Gainsborough ...::Flower Girl of Midgar::.... She smiled at the sound of his voice his voice and she walked inside the church and sat down on one of the back pews. "Zack, is there any way possible that I could see you tonight...?" She said with as she tried to not to cry any more. He knew she had been crying any way. So why was she stopping now? He heard it in her voice and he knew there was some thing wrong. How was she going to tell him that she could not marry him? And live a long happy life with him? There is a reason she is here. As there is a reason Zack is here. And they would not be able live their lives the way they wish after all. All the reasons she could think of not marrying could stop them. Sephiroth, Cloud being a L'Cie, Jenova returning? And there's death. That was just the tip of the ice berg. Don't get her wrong, she wanted to marry Zack. With all her heart she wanted to marry the man she loved so dearly. But fate simply would not just let her do that. Not now. It was too close to Cloud's end and the end of the millions of lives on this world even hers.....She was even thinking slightly selfish....And wished Cloud would not finish his focus. But she knew what that would cause everyone. Cloud would become a L'Cie monster and he'd be lost forever....and there is the other choice....Death....Aerith never thought death would be an option. But even she was starting to think that it was a possible option. Aerith could just bring him back....But, then again, he could be stuck in the Life Stream forever. And there was the other option she had stuck in the back of her mind. Talk to Sephiroth and have him kill Cloud....She couldn't do that in a million years! Not to the one man that killed her...Was she insane? She was just running out of time and ideas. It was starting to take a toll over her. She was not able to fix everything. And she hated herself for it. She was suppose to be an Ancient. And this was the best she could do for her friends....?

He turned off his bike and smiled when she asked if she could see him. “As a matter of fact, I think that can be arranged.” He tried to tease but it fell flat as he worried about her. He was good at reading her moods, and she seemed down, almost desperate to see him. Shifting his foot and lowering the kickstand, he got off the bike and started walking towards the church. His strides were fast as he came closer and closer. What was this all about? Why was she so sad and what could he do to make her happy again?
He hesitated at the door and smiled a bit, “It can be arranged because I’m already here.” With that he pushed pulled open the door and strode inside, the phone still held up to his ear. His eyes glanced right and left as he looked around for her. He spied her sitting on the back of one of the old pews, one of the few that was still intact and raising a hand, walking toward her. With that he clicked the phone closed and just spoke to her. “I wanted to see you and make sure you were ok.” He said as he came closer.
As he did he caught the traces of tears that went were on her cheeks. When he got close he knelt down on one so that he could look at her and picked her hands up and held them in his own. He reached up and brushed her cheek tenderly with his hand, smiling up at her, but his eyes didn’t hold the twinkle they usually did, replaced by tender worry for her. “I didn’t think you’d be sad though…what’s the matter honey?”
His mind flashed through every possible thing he could think of that would be bothering her. Never in a million years would he have guessed the real reason, about not being able to marry him eventually. He continued to hold her hands before he wrapped his arms around her and drew her to him, smoothing her hair with a hand as he waited for her to tell him what was wrong. One thing that always got to him was Aerith. When she was sad he couldn’t find it in himself to be happy until he figured out what was bothering her.

Aerith Gainsborough ...::Flower Girl of Midgar::.... She sat there for a few seconds. Her eyes all watery and ready to cry but his voice from behind her made her tears stop. As she turned around and saw his handsome face starring back at her as she stood up let him walk over to her and grab her in a hug. A strong comfy hug for that matter. As he pulled her in she wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his chest. Because she was so scared to look in to his mako blue eyes. When he asked what was wrong, what could she say for the answer? Would she tell him the truth or just flat out lie to him? She couldn't lie! It was not in her nature to lie to any one. As she looked up finally into his eyes...As she saw that his eyes were not beaming with happiness. Instead, worry some was what she saw in his eyes. He was so worried about her. "Zack...I'm so glad you are here now. I have to tell you....Some thing that might upset you. Remember when we talked about marriage and having kids and stuff? I can't...I can't dream about some thing that will never happen." She pulled away from him then and looked away from him as she looked at the ground. Her voice was already shaking. She was breaking apart because of what she just said to him... She would not blame him that if he didn't wanna be with her any more. "I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to leave me." She said still looking down and away from him. She was so happy the first time they talked about marriage and the talk about kids and all did make her happy. But she had to think about the reality of all of this. She was here for a reason and so was Zack. Her heart could only take so much. And the thinking she could have a long happy life was some thing she would never have....She was going to die and there was no way to stop it....

o ::...The Puppy...:: Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. As she clung to him he felt a little better. It couldn’t be something horrible right? Maybe she had been thinking about her mother or father or something from before her life had gone bad. So he just held her against his chest and hoped that everything was alright. She didn’t answer him for awhile, but he was content just to hold her until her worries dissolved. She saved him from the nothingness. Sometimes he wondered if he would stay sane if it weren’t for her. He just held her and hoped that she would tell him what was bothering her so that he could help make it go away. He felt her heart beat against his chest as he waited…
When she drew back he knew that she would tell him. He stood and waited as she seemed to struggle with what she should say. The torture was in her eyes as she stood there and looked up into his eyes. There was pain there; he cocked his head to the side, wondering what could be causing her so much worry. Cloud, Tifa and he were safe and sound, was it Cloud’s being a l’cie? It was getting them all down, but they had to keep going. He had thought they would all die when Cloud destroyed the universe. Yet Repa had given him hope earlier when she had taken him to her home planet and explained her plan to save the citizens of Gaia. He had had a hope like he hadn’t had in awhile, finally! He might be able to actually have a life.
Then she started to talk. He encouraged her with a nod of his head until it registered what she was saying. She had pulled away and was now just staring at the ground. His heart burst when he heard the shaking in her voice and when she whispered that she would understand if he wanted to leave. He felt frozen inside; life without Aerith would be like living in a shell with no soul. It was as if he was somewhere above them, staring down at the world that seemed to be paralyzed around him.
Suddenly he was moving. He turned her and putting a hand underneath her chin, he spoke. “Look at me Aerith.” He put pressure until she looked at him. “Living without you would be like living in a world void of light. Like living in a shell without a soul.” He started, everything coming from his heart. “If I woke up in the morning and knew that you weren’t at my side I would die. Without you I’m nothing. If I thought it would keep you mine I would never leave your side. Without you nothing is right and I wouldn’t be the man I am.” He said softly. “The stars would cease to shine and the earth would become cold just because you weren’t there to share it with. I feel alive when you’re beside me.” He paused before brushing a hand over her cheek again, “I don’t care if I can never be married to you, knowing you love me is enough. I’m never letting you go.” He breathed out softly, his eyes searching her own.

Aerith Gainsborough ...::Flower Girl of Midgar::.... He placed his fingers on her chin and she looked up at him. Her eyes were on the verge of pouring with tears. She loved his touch as she loved everything about him. She knew she would get a lecture now. But sh wouldn't throw a tantrum as he spoke to her. She loved the sound of his voice. Even if he was laying down the facts to her. But he knew she wouldn't get yelled at for what she said to him either. She knew how much he loves her. After he finished she let tears stream down her cheeks. As she looked up at him she saw him searching her own eyes....As she smiled at him and then laid her head on his chest as she wrapped her arms around him and continued to smile.... "Zack...I do love you...More than any thing." She listened to his heart beat and she smiled at that. "You mean nothing can ever change the way we feel about each other?" She asked him softly as she held him...She was so always so worried about his own life rather than worried about her...He was the one that was always so strong. She loved the way he was always soft and calm around her. He was hardly ever an emotional wreck with her. Though Cloud could be some times. But she would not blame him for it. The man was going through a rough time right now. Aerith was glad that she had a place to fall if she needed to.....and that was in Zack's arms...

::...The Puppy...:: Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. Zack tried not to seem like he was lecturing, but he was not going to just sit there and let her tell him that it was over between them. Especially with what he had told Repa about what he wanted his future to be. ‘A football team of Fair’s running around…’ And with the information he had found out, he finally had a bit of hope that wasn’t just based off of his sunny nature. Yes siree, if he could do anything he was going to make sure they both lived, and after that he wouldn’t take no for an answer when he asked her properly if she would marry him. The tears came again, but he knew she wasn’t as hopeless feeling as she had been before.
He was definitely way too cocky for his own good. Matching her smile, he ran his fingers through her hair as she told him she loved him. “I know that honey…why do you think I wouldn’t take no for an answer?” He asked playfully, “If you thought I died, got out of the lifestream, found you again, fought another battle with Sephiroth and lived to tell about it only for you to tell me that because of what’s happening we can’t be together you’re wrong.” That was definitely teasingly spoken before he softened his voice and spoke again, “No Aerith, nothing will change the way I feel about you.”
He held her in his arms and sighed happily, chest welling with love for the woman who he had been destined to be with. Picking her up, he carried her over to where her flowers bloomed everywhere and sat down, still holding her in his lap. Cradling her, he thought about what he had been told. “Aerith…did you know…that Cloud might possibly come back out of crystal status after he completes his focus?” He broached the subject, elated at the idea that Cloud might not be lost forever once he completed his focus. Cloud knew he knew about the focus because of the time they had fought Sephiroth. It was nice…not having to hide his knowledge when he was talking to Cloud.
And there was something else, something that he couldn’t believe. Gaia might not be completely destroyed, and with Repa’s plan, they could all live to see another day after Cloud’s focus came and went. That was what made him not agree that they could never have a future. They could have a future! He wouldn’t allow her to loose hope now, not when Cloud needed them so badly. They couldn’t give up!

Aerith Gainsborough ...::Flower Girl of Midgar::.... His words calmed her more as he talked so positively for her. This was a bit out of the norm for her to feel like there is no hope. But she was. And when he said all he said to her, she believe him. She believed every word he said. He was showing her so much love right now and that they would be together no matter what happens with the whole Cloud situation. She looked up at him and smiled through her tears then...As she let him pick her up so gently she laid the side of her face on his chest so she could hear his heart beating softly in his chest and she smiled when he placed her in his lap... He truly was the one that she belonged with. He would always be hers....No matter what could happen now. She was no longer scared. She knew. She knew he was the one. She wished though her mother and sister and father could see her now...Finding that one true love for her was a huge step in her little life. At first she thought it was Cloud....But then things got straightened out...And her love for Zack grew a lot stronger after that....She kept her head on his chest as he asked that question....And she then just pulled off one of his gloves to feel his fingers intertwine with her own.... "Yes, I've thought of that possibility...But it also might be years before he is released....I wish I knew how long he would be in crystallization....But I don't know..." She then slid her fingers in between his and looked up at him....With the most loving eyes... "Always be mine...." She then leaned up as though she was about to kiss him as he held on to her in his lap....She loved the touch of his skin....It was so perfect...His cheek bones looked strong and his eyes so full of life....He was perfect....Well to her at least....

::...The Puppy...:: Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. Zack couldn’t help but smile as Aerith laid her head on his chest. Things were better now. He was glad he had been able to put her worries to rest. And he himself had been frozen when she had told him they could never be together. But she was now in his arms where she should be and they could be together. He was content just to be like this forever, Aerith close by his side and happy. He felt her fingers intertwine with his own and smiling, he squeezed her hand gently.
He wondered then why it had taken him so long to realize that he loved her. Maybe because when he had been younger he had been a player. There for a bit he had thought Cissnei was the one for him, but she was with Reno now. He smiled at the thought. Cissnei was a good friend, he was glad she happy, and Reno was a good guy, he had better treat her good. Cloud was with Tifa, it seemed like everyone was finding someone to spend the rest of their lives with.
He sighed when she said that they didn’t know how long he was going to be in crystallization. “So he could be a crystal for hundreds of years?” His hope in that area got dimmer, but it didn’t fade entirely, there was still a chance. “But there’s still a chance.” No one knew this, but even his hope and faith had grown dim to the point where he was ready to give up on the idea, but now it was back. He wasn’t going to loose hope like everyone else.
He looked down at her and nodded, leaning down to meet her lips as he sealed the promise. “Always and forever…no matter what happens I’ll be right here.” Zack kept his promises, and he would keep this one. “Kind of like the old sock that keeps showing up.” He said with a little chuckle. He looked around him, “This church…I’m going to miss it if it’s destroyed. It is after all, the place that brought us together.”

Aerith Gainsborough ...::Flower Girl of Midgar::.... “So he could be a crystal for hundreds of years?” “But there’s still a chance.” “Kind of like the old sock that keeps showing up.” She hoped that was not the case. She wanted Cloud back and with his friends and family where he belonged. She hated not being able to stop this. She only saw the things the earth told her about. And then some. But she knew there was no way she would be able to stop this. She just held on to Zack as much as she could. She loved hearing his heart beating in his chest. Safe where it belonged. She placed her other hand on his chest and smiled.... “This church…I’m going to miss it if it’s destroyed. It is after all, the place that brought us together.” "I know me to Zack. Me to. I love you so much..." She could remember the first time she laid her eyes on him...He fell from the sky.... "Remember how we met?" She asked as she looked up into his eyes with her own bright green ones...And she smiled...How could she forget how they met? It was to her at first like magic the way he appeared to her. She was so much in love with him. And nothing was going to make her think other wise. And she was so blessed that he was the way he was. He was so patient with her. He knew she could not go all the way. At least not until this whole L'Cie thing is over with....She knew now that he was going to be there with her and Cloud, when Cloud finished his focus. She had a good man. And he was right here....And not going any where...She was indeed in love with him. With her very being....And she would do any thing to keep him alive...Did he even know how strong she was? Cloud did....Did he? He would know soon enough...

::...The Puppy...:: Your gonna be my…Living Legacy. His thoughts were much the same as Aerith's were, sadness, thinking about what he wished he could do and all of that. He felt the heavy burden on his shoulders, the fear, like the time he had drug Cloud into this very church near death, hoping that Aerith could do something for him. She had saved his life that day, they both had, but he hoped never to have to do something like that again. He didn't want to ever be anywhere else other then here, with Aerith, feeling the strength of their hearts beating and the love that they shared. He couldn't believe he had ever thought that any other girl might be the one for him. She truly was his other half.
He chuckled when she asked if he remembered how they had met. “I'm not likely to forget. It was one of the worst times in SOLDIER, I wouldn't defend myself against a good friend and so he hit me...I fell into the house of an angel that day. I'm so glad I did...you helped me survive those hard times in SOLDIER, just to survive and get to spend a day with you, all the bad things were worth it.” The smile on his face was a reassurance that he was thinking of good things instead of bad once more. It really was a good thing, he was much happier that way.
He chuckled again, “It was probably the most ungraceful way of meeting anyone, especially the woman that you fall in love with...” He shook his head, he had always had a knack for falling directly into situations and never looking suave when he did it. How did any guy manage to look good around a girl anyway? Whenever he tried he always fell flat on his face, and believe me, he tried enough. He kept thinking about that moment, waking up to the prettiest face he had ever seen. “I wish some things were the way they were back then...although I would never want to go through what I did in those times.” Words: 454 Muse: ok Notes: none

She looked up at him and smiled as tears fell. Though she had tried her best to not let that happen. He made her cry. But they were only tears of joy. Not sadness. He was happy, so she was happy. And her smile to him was a reminder of that to him. That no matter how bad things can get in life, you always had to find a way to smile. "Kiss me Zack...." She said to him as she looked up into his beautiful Mako blue eyes. Those eyes....Damn, they still had gotten to her all these years. She was like falling in love with him all over again....And she loved it. She felt so safe in his arms as well. She knew he wouldn't let any thing bad happen to her. She just wrapped her arms around his strong muscular body and held him close to hers....
She gave him a smile of wanting to...Wanting to be with him. She wanted to make him happy. Happier than he had ever been....She knew people should not make love to each other until they were actually in love...and she knew Zack was in love with her. And that she was in love with him. Nothing could tear her away from him again. "Please. Just kiss me...." She asked of him again. She was not one to show her attraction side to him either. But maybe it was all because she had lost him once she was scare of losing him again....She knew he was strong and that he would fight for her life. But there was a small frightful thought in the back of her mind. Call it her greatest fear....And that was what if, she lost him again and they would've never been able to actually be together at all......?

::...The Puppy...:: ”Boy oh Boy, the price for freedom is steep.” Zack wasn't sure what had made her cry, but he was hoping it was a good thing. Zack still wasn't so keen on if it was a good thing or a bad when a woman cried. He had never been good at that, maybe because the only time he had cried since becoming SOLDIER was the time he had had to kill his mentor and father figure. Aerith had been the one he had turned to for comfort, so she was really the only one who had seen him cry. Besides of course, his parent when he had been a little kid. So he was basing his knowledge of crying on the fact that he had only cried when horribly upset.
Apparently this were the happy tears she had told him about because she then smiled up at him. He couldn't help but respond to that smile and watched her with his intense blue eyes. Zack knew Aerith had always like them, reminding her of the sky but not scary, as she had been fearful of the big sky at one time in her life. Zack also wished he could have been there when she had braved her fear of the sky and went out of the slums. There were a lot of things he wished he could have done, or been there for, but the fact remained that it hadn't been possibly, with him dead and everything.
At her request Zack just smiled. He couldn't resist anything she asked for. If she asked him to shave off all his hair he would. ...ok maybe not, but still, he would do almost anything for her. That was the power women had over men, especially women they cared for. She didn't know why, but all of a sudden she seemed to get scared. With a tightening of his arms, Zack leaned down and kissed Aerith once again. She was right in her thoughts, they could be torn away from each other at any moment. With Sephiroth back, and Cloud a l'cie, anything could happen, and it probably would to. Of course, he didn't know what she was thinking, so he just held her and kissed her.
The problem with Zack is he wasn't as concerned about the future as most people would be in his situation. Did he want to do? No. Did he want to be ripped away from Aerith yet again? No. But did he loose any sleep thinking about the world being destroyed? No. His light mood usually helped to bring people out of their slump, but at the same time he should probably be thinking about the future. Aerith made him think about it. Without her influence he might just go on forever as the puppy. Restless with zero attention span. But no, he had changed since then. A hard road had shaped him, molded him. "Its been a long time since I realized the first moment I loved you...I wish...I wish you wouldn't have had to wait so long for me to tell you."

Aerith Gainsborough ...::Flower Girl of Midgar::.... "Its been a long time since I realized the first moment I loved you...I wish...I wish you wouldn't have had to wait so long for me to tell you."
She gave him a smile and then he kissed her. Her heart went to a faster beat just then. As she placed her hands on his chest and pressed her little fingers on his strong chest. She was weaker by the minute as he just kissed her. He could probably take advantage of her if he wanted. But she knew he better than that. He would never do that to her. He also knew that she was not ready. She thought she was at times. And then there were times that it was just a fluke. The idea was nice in her mind at times. But she had a job to do and she couldn't just let some thing happen to her just yet. But if it were to be any one that did make love to her, it would indeed be the man that was kissing her right now....
"It's alright darling. Now, I can hear it all the time." She said sweetly as she placed her palms right on his strong cheek bones and rubbed her finger down the lines...He was so perfect to her in her eyes. She smiled warmly at him. "I love everything about you...Your smile, your eyes, your comfortness you give me every time you hold me in your arms...I feel so safe with you." She was indeed in love with him. That was certain. If he asked her to marry him she would say yes in a heart beat! But she knew why he hadn't asked her yet. She figured he wanted to get this Cloud business out of the way before all that happened. And that he could know for sure he could support her. But she knew in her heart that he could.
