XX If I told you a secret would you keep it to yourself? Will you accept it and not be afraid of what I can do? Then…let me tell you a secret. A light mist covered the ground; it shimmered as the moon shone brightly above in an empty sky causing ripples in the shadows bellow. The fresh smell of rain filled the forest with and earthy scent indicating it was soon follow or had passed. The Sleeping Forest was almost always like this, a forgotten memory, a distant truth, a place of misery yet within it all it held a beauty that one could not deny. The Sleeping Forest was truly a place to captivate the soul, and for Night it did just that. People always say that this place was a place where you could lose your soul, but for her – it was a place she felt most alive. Somehow she felt home, felt like this is where she belonged.
Standing there alone Night gazed out over the river, in the distance the forest stretched far and wide. Above the moon shone down on her and the river seemed to shimmer as its dark mass reflected the light of the moon. Night found it so tempting that soon she was slowly entering in, letting the cool water wash away her thoughts.
A gentle wind pushed at her back as her bare feet touched the riverbed – water caressed her feet like it was greeting an old friend. With a steady stride she entered the water; a cool wave rushed over her legs as the water began to linger at her thighs. As she walked further into the middle it didn’t reach much higher rather it just hugged at her waist. The feeling was like silk against her skin and she couldn’t help but smiled or giggle as the ripples brushed past her. It didn’t bother her that her white dress was now soaked to her waist, she hardly even noticed it for she was so lost in the nights embrace.
Looking up to the sky the moon greeted her like a lost child, it didn’t take long for her to be inspired by this surreal moment and closing her eyes she whispered ancient words. Colour began to emerge from the air around her, her hair catching the gentle gust of wind as the colours began to form into a beautiful black and silver butterfly. Opening her eyes Night smiled – the butterfly shimmered like the moon but reminded her of dark the river. It landed on her fingertips as she put out her hand to greet it; this was truly an amazing place and Night was so lost in it that nothing else around her mattered or even existed – it was just her, just her and the sparkling colour of the butterfly.

.:Angel of Darkness:. Shall I give you Despair? This was where the Ancients had lived... This was where people got lost and never returned... This was where he had first gotten his knowledge on obtaining the Black Materia and summoning Meteor... This was a world of complete silence; no wild animals scurried between the trees... This was Sleeping Forest... Full of twisting paths, dooming all unlucky travelers to eternity of wandering...
And he felt drawn to this place. But why? For what reason did the forest seem to call out to him, begging him to enter its never-ending void as he stood just beyond the tree line. He of course, would never lose himself within these trees. The forest was his to protect, to keep safe. It relied on him; he was the Planet's Guardian... Chosen to bring out the world's life and beauty once more... That was why he wanted it destroyed. He would spread ruination among the world, and then rebuild it. No suffering, no pain would be in his new world...
But his mind had trailed off... He needed to concentrate on the now. The forest seemed to be calling to him for help. Was it in danger? The was a sneaking suspicion in his mind... Intruder... Someone may have entered... Someone who made the forest feel uncomfortable within... Well that someone, would be taken out of the forest. He wouldn't let anyone or anything destroy this last place of serenity on the Planet's surface. Everywhere else in the world had been touched by the use of Shin-ra's Mako Energy, leaving the rest of the world damaged. But Sleeping forest was still healthy, still alive and well. No one would ruin the place. He himself had vowed to leave the forest on his new world; a reminder of what had come to past.
With these thoughts rolling around in his head, he stepped into the trees, wing folded neatly to his side. Currently, he didn't hold the Masamune; it was in its portable, non-existent form. It wouldn't take long however, for him to bring it forth. If necessary. The Nightmare moved between the trees at high speed, obviously he knew the forest's many paths. and he knew exactly where he was going. He could sense the forest's relief at his presence, and it was pointing the way to his target. he merely followed the forest's uncertain fear.
A small clearing emerged before him, and the moonlight fell on his hair. It shimmered with its own life, and the Mako-eyes narrowed. They zoomed in on the figure there, a woman it seemed. There was some sort of butterfly, but he was certain it was not of this world. It had an aura about it that reminded him of the Sleeping Forest's life... It was there, yet it was not there... and these contradicting feeling did nothing to sooth his rising wrath. So it was this woman who had befouled this place with her presence.
He wanted to bring out the Masamune and cut her down without a second though; but... She didn't feel dangerous... On the contrary, she seemed to be at complete ease in this place, and was merely enjoying the purity. Unless the butterfly was some sort of demon in disguise, he could see no danger. He swore he felt pleading fingers of the forest reaching out to him, wondering just how much danger it was in. He merely relaxed himself, and the forest followed suit. The rage he had just felt for this intruder was fading, to be replaced by almost curiosity. Calm feeling from him could reassure the forest. It seemed to return to sleep, but it was alert at the same time. It wanted to witness just what would happen.
Sephiroth waited a moment longer, then stepped out from the trees. The blazing gaze fell entirely on the woman and her butterfly thing, a slight interest glittering in the depths. "Enjoying yourself?" He said softly, standing motionless by the edge of the trees. A light wind picked up, swirling around him and the woman, setting the tree leaves to a flutter. No wind ever blew in this forest, unless it was called up by him. So that was what he had done. A light breeze was enough to fully relax the worried forest, and that was what happened. He felt the trees around him grow still, and fear disappeared. But the breeze kept blowing It was his gift to the forest.

X Can you see me? Will you look me in the eyes? Or are you to afraid what you might find?...
Night watched as the butterfly took flight, its wings fluttered gracefully as it began to fade until it disappeared into little flakes of light. Staring at the empty space for some time, entranced by what was once there – she didn’t notice how the forest seemed to change from still to restless. It was quite the opposite - Night found herself lost in her own fantasies that when a voice echoed around her it took a few seconds to register. When it did however she began to feel the droplets of water falling on her, the moon fading in and out of clouds and a low rumble of thunder somewhere in the distance. How long had she been standing there so caught by the beauty of a butterfly she had never seen before? This place, though she felt completely at ease here, seemed to stir emotions within her and maybe it was the forest that called out that particular butterfly to meet her. She didn't really dwell on that possibility much for once again remembered that someone had spoke.
Tilting her head she glanced back over her shoulder where her gaze fell upon a man man. His form looking strange to her but her expression remained blank, her body was even slower to react. She must have looked wild standing there in the middle of a river now slowly being covered in rain. However wild anyone might have thought she appeared, could could have past as an angel. Droplets of water hugged her pale white skin catching the last rays of the moons light and she looked like she was glowing. Her hair though wet and clinging to her body was shimmering, and the wet dress did wonders to accentuate her figure. Night however, simply just stood there. These kinds of details were something of the past, for her eyes could no longer see anything but a shadow.
Night seemed to be pulled from her trance in a way that it felt someone had attached a piece of string to her and lifted her from above. It was then that she took a longer look at the shadow speaking. He seemed different somehow- less human that anything she had encountered before. When Night 'sees' people they all have different shades, different sizes and shapes; but they all looked human, felt human. Though she could tell this was a man, she had never known anyone to be so dark and so content to be covered in darkness. Night felt that even if she could see the world, this man would still appear dark just like he did now.
“I...like the stillness here...” Her voice resonated around them and though it was merely a faint whisper, the forest seemed to soak it in and carry it till it knew every bit of this person's, this intruders voice.
She was too nice to be afraid of anything, to trusting in the good of ones soul to realise any danger she could be in this very moment as she made her way out of the river. Reaching the river bank she slowly stepped out – she hadn’t realised how cold it had gotten till the wind picked up around them and her body reacted to it. “Are you lost sir?” It was probably the most stupid thing she could have said to this man, but how was she to know who he was when all he was to her was a dark shadow?
Standing there now not submerged in water it became more apparent how she looked. It seemed the once the forest was made relaxed and the man himself had changed his thoughts to that of curiosity, the forest seemed to drink her presence in. Maybe it wanted to know just as much as this man did, who was this person that had entered and how did she find such a place when no other dared to come here?
Night waited, her eyes fixed on him. He seemed kind of lost in a world that wasn't this one , maybe he didn't really belong here to begin with, she didn't know but it did spark her own curiosity and without noticing she took a step closer.

.:Angel of Darkness:. Shall I give you Despair? The forest seemed to grow restless again as the butterfly took flight and vanished. Ominous silence fell over the branches, and the breeze faded away. It was as if everything were holding its breath, just waiting for something to happen. A shadow seemed to fold over the trees, and the clouds soon came up and covered the moon. One drop of water splattered onto his left shoulder armor, and it was quickly followed by more. The sky seemed to be crying, but for what reason? He really didn't know... The darkness seemed to fill everything up, it felt like it was curling around him. The cool touch had soon placed him on alert again. He knew nothing of this woman, only that she was an intruder.
But while her eyes met his, he had a strange feeling that she really wasn't looking at him... Yet she was... he swore he could feel soft fingers probing at his mind, and he instinctively blocked the curious fingers. A wall of darkness had fallen around his unstable mind, cloaking it; concealing it. Was this woman some sort of mind reader? A seer? And what was her purpose here? But merely the fact that a strange aura was surrounding her made him suspicious. She could see him, but in the same way a human being did. She was like him, just less of a monster...
"I am everything but lost..." He said softly. "This is my home. And you are trespassing. Tell me... What brings you here, and why?" A slightly harder tone had entered his voice, and the green-blue eyes narrowed still further. She had shifted closer to him... The red flag grew more prominent. A flash of uncertainty was immediately drowned out by guarded suspicion as he stepped back. His left had had curled into a fist, just about to summon the Masamune to his hand. The ancient weapon would be useful here if she was a danger. But not just yet... He could be patient, give this woman a chance to explain her presence here. He wanted to know exactly what she was, but he had a feeling she didn't know herself.
One other question, directed at himself, was burning in his head. Why hadn't he cut her down yet? Why was he giving her an opportunity to survive? Mercy was not his belief... But he was quite certain she was no danger... Or maybe... It was something deeper... After his many years of being a monster alone, trying to create a new world by destroying this one... Maybe he was beginning to have a longing for company... Maybe his greatest wish was to go back to his SOLDIER days... Back when everything had been so easy... Back when he had two friends...
Furiously, he snuffed out that flame of happiness. No... he neither wanted, nor needed anyone. He was happy with his life now, in his life where no one could betray him with lies; no one could him broken... He would not submit to such weaknesses as friends. He had destroyed everyone who got in his way, until Cloud had stepped in. This woman was no exception to those who got in his way. She was no better than a normal human being, even if she wasn't exactly one.
But the Masamune remained unsummoned, and his conflicting thoughts curled into a small mass; hiding beneath his shroud of mental protection. Who... Was... This... Woman...?

X I’ll seek you out, Flay you alive One more word and you won’t survive
She watched as his shadow moved, it seemed to dance around him almost in defence. Was it because of her that his thoughts of curiosity and taken a sudden change to unease? Night wondered on this thought, couldn't understand why someone would be concerned about her. Then again in a circumstance like this where she looked anything but normal she guessed it was possible.
His voice was soft to her ears. Everything but lost...she let the words play in her mind and again her curiosity sparked. Not lost but everything else, what was everything else? She felt like she wanted to know more about him and she really wanted to see, with normal eyes what stood before her. Again she found that she had taken a step forward.
There is a harsher tone in his voice now, Night noticed the sound instantly. It was a tone that she felt he seemed to know rather well and for some reason it made her thoughts stop. With her eyes on the shadow, it had stepped back from her. Night didn't know if she felt hurt by the gesture or simply impartial to it however it did set her thoughts in motion again like a green light. She couldn't take her eyes off him. His shadow seem to grow but then fight with itself at the same time, it was like he was struggling with something, but what? It was strange to her because his shadow made him seem violent yet calm at the same time and she couldn't work out if she should take it as a warning and run...but her feet never moved.
“Trespassing...” She let the word roll over her tongue and ring out within her mind. So this was his home...and what brings me here? She was slow to really respond to what he asked of her, too busy just watching him. Her dull eyes captivated by what she saw in his shadow for she had never seen anything like it. She watched as it seemed to settle then furiously it flared back to life. It was an internal struggle that played out right in front of her. She almost looked away because it was a struggle that was private, yet with her eyes she could see it as if he spoke his thoughts out loud the only difference is that she couldn't tell what it was about. Was it to do with her...trespassing in his home that made him so conflicted with what to do?
It was then so noticed something shimmer, a flicker of silver colour in her dark world. She tore her eyes from watching him and followed the butterflies movements. It was graceful and seemed kind and she couldn't help but be settled by it, at ease once again. It first appeared just to the left of his head, just hovering there to get her attention then it moved down seemly to be unnoticed by this man. It then gently landed on his clenched fist, poised there on his hand. “It was...” finally she broke the silence and dared take anther step toward him, or was it toward the butterfly? It did seem like it was calling her the same way she felt she was being called here.“That butterfly....” Her whole body relaxed and her soft lips began to curl into a gentle smile “It was calling me.” And that is how it happened. She had never seen this butterfly until tonight, but she had felt something calling her to this place and it wasn't until she got here did she find the right words to summon that butterfly. However, when she thought about it...maybe it was the butterfly that had summoned her.
