the - COCKY - turk - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rod fiddled with his tie absently, not used to wearing the damned thing after so many years now. The collar of his shirt almost felt like it was choking him too, because it was done all the way up. He slipped his left index finger behind the collar and pulled at it a little in an almost futile attempt to make it a little less tight and suffocating. Okay, so this damn thing is gonna take some gettin’ used to again... he thought to himself, as he twirled his EMR in his right hand absentmindedly. When he had first joined the Turks, he hadn’t been that fond of the suits, he remembered. They kinda grow on ya though.
It was nice having the familiar weapon in his hand again too, with an actual purpose once more. Of course he’d kept his EMR with him even when he had left ShinRa – hell, he wasn’t about to part with his most trusted weapon – but he hadn’t needed it a lot over the years. After all, he had only become a motorbike mechanic, just to get by. It wasn’t anywhere near as fulfilling as his job as a Turk had been, but it had gotten him by. And besides, he had gotten to work with his favourite vehicle in the world, so it wasn’t bad, in his opinion.
After some debate, Rod had decided to chance it, and ask to come back. Admittedly, he had been slightly surprised that Tseng and Rufus ShinRa had let him back, but he wasn’t about to complain. They did tell him, however, that he wasn’t the only one of the old Turks to come back. Cissnei was back now too. Rod had been delighted to hear that. He had cared for all the Turks of course, but Cissnei, Reno and Rude had been kinda special. Reno and Rude had been his buddies, as had Cissnei, but Cissnei had been...even more special. Yes, he’d had feelings for her...but he had kept them to himself. Never told anyone. He didn’t know if anyone had managed to pick up on it though – he prided himself on his acting skills; but then again, he prided himself on a lot of things.
It had only been that same afternoon that he had approached Tseng and ShinRa about coming back, and he had been put back on the job immediately. He smiled a little to himself. It’s good ta be back. Apparently, there had been a solo mission lined up for Cissnei today, but the situation had gotten a little more complicated so they asked Rod to accompany her. He had asked though, that they don’t tell her who she was going with and just that transport was waiting outside. He wanted his arrival back into the company to be a surprise. He was practically bouncing with anticipation; he couldn’t wait to see her.
So there he sat, perched on the edge of the seat of his motorbike, leaning against it slightly as he stood. Rod couldn’t keep the smirk off his face, his aqua eyes dancing with happiness as the light breeze swept his auburn hair around his head. To say he was excited was an understatement. He was practically buzzing, both from getting to see his old friend and for being back on the job and going on a mission after being here for barely an hour. He pulled his fingers away from the collar of his shirt for the moment, and instead cast a glance at the new ShinRa building. It was classy, not as large as the previous one had been, of course, but he liked it better this way. Don’t seem as power-hungry or scary.
Rod whistled a tune to himself as he waited on Cissnei getting outside. She shouldn’t be too long; in fact, she should be here any minute now. He had never known Cissnei to be late for a mission start, ever, because she always gave her job her all. The whistling turned to humming, before it was cut off as he spotted someone coming out of the ShinRa building out of the corner of his eye. He turned his gaze, and his face split into a full-blown grin when he saw Cissnei. “Yo, Cissy! Ya miss me?” he laughed, grinning as cockily as ever, winking at her in a joking manner.
But of course, his slum accent was getting slightly worse because Cissnei was one of the few people he spoke to with his normal manner of doing so. That darn ‘business-like’ way he had to be with officials and whatnot got annoying... “Why don’ we get this mission started, eh? I don’ know ’bout you, but I’m dyin’ to get goin’. Kinda missed the job, ya know?” The grin had never left his lips, still as bright as ever, as were his aqua eyes. He looked her over briefly, before his bright eyes flicked back to hers. “But damn if it isn’ good to see you.”

...Forgotten Turk..."Wings symbolize freedom for those who have none." Cissnei had of course heard a rumor that like her, the Turks from the 'old days' were returning. However she had passed that off as purely gossip, much like what most of the busybodies around ShinRa did all day. Honestly Cissnei didn't know what most of workers did all day other then talk about stupidity and eat doughnuts. Some days she wanted to yell at them for their laziness, but what could she do? It wasn't as if they were doing anything wrong, so she was content to simply ignore what all they said and go on with her life. Ignoring them really was the way to go, besides, she didn't pay attention to what they said anyway.
Carrying her shuriken in her hands, Cissnei walked at a fast pace, getting to where she needed to go in a hurry. That was her normal, not much of a slow walker, she was used to getting where she needed to go quickly. Something she hadn't thought was possible was that she would actually enjoy being a Turk again. When she had been in the 'real world' she hadn't known what to do. Of course she excelled at everything she had done, but something had always been missing. The Turks were more then just her co-workers, they were her family. The only family she had ever known having been raised in ShinRa. Missing that part of her life, she had opted to come back, not sure if she would like it or not. Still, it had been better then being in the real world with no direction to her life. As sappy as that sounded, it was true. What she had always thought was that even though she knew the problems ShinRa had caused, they also did good things for the world, and thus she would remain loyal to ShinRa until her end.
Clearing her throat, she walked down the steps to the ShinRa building and wondered exactly who she was going on the mission with today. Since Tseng hadn't told her who she was going on the mission with she was suspicious, but then again, she wasn't one to force him to tell her. Besides, she would see soon enough as it was. Still, normally she was told immediately who she would be going with. Since she didn't Cissnei had been wondering ever since she had gotten the mission. With a little shrug she stepped down the stairs. Originally she had been assigned this mission by herself, though she knew why Tseng had assigned her someone else to work with. Obviously the situation had gotten worse. Still, not knowing who she was going with was a hinder in some ways, not knowing what was happening and things like that. Still, she was a Turk, adjusting quickly was what she was good at.
Having been looking down at her cell phone, Cissnei heard her name called and snapped her head up quickly, crimson eyes looking around. Hardly anyone called her Cissy instead of Cissnei. Reno did, and Rude occasionally, but other then that...no one, at least that she could remember. Eyes settle on a man seated on a motorbike and she came to an abrupt halt, eyes opening wide. Was it...? Though she had always been quiet and more reserved then people like Reno and Rod, Cissnei had always loved each of the Turks as her own dysfunctional family. Known as the motherly one of the group, ironically since she was the youngest, at least of the Turks from the old times. She thought Elena was younger then her by a year now. But the point was that she had promised to look out for her Turks, and had liked each and every one of them. Of course, she had missed Rod. He brought some fun to the place, along with Reno of course. The funny thing was how much Reno irritated Rod.
Of course, she couldn't hold back the smile that came across her lips. “Rod!” Remembering that she had stopped abruptly, Cissnei continued on her way and snapping her cell phone closed, slipped it into her suit and made her way to the auburn haired man that was sitting on the motorbike. Eyes twinkled, so the rumors had been right after all. Another member from the 'old days' had come back along with her. Striding toward him, she couldn't help but return the smile as she got a wink. Of course, never exactly professional when it came to being around her, Cissnei didn't mind, it made her feel like part of the family. Continuing not to say anything until he had spit everything out and she was close, Cissnei went to hug him. Yes hug him. Though she wasn't the most social person ever, Cissnei did feel like he deserved a hug, with being back and everything of course. She hadn't seen him in years, even Rude had gotten a hug, though he had initiated it, which had left her somewhat awestruck.
If Rude would give out hugs she would as well. Opening her arms Cissnei settled hers around him and forced him to hug her, whether he liked it or not. “Never one to talk normally hmm Rod?” Of course she did like the fact that he didn't feel the need to talk formally when he was around her, but she couldn't help but tease him about it. “I cannot believe your the one going on the mission with me. When Tseng wouldn't tell me I figured something was up. But never a Turk from the 'old days.' And here I was thinking those busybodies in ShinRa were just talking through their hats about the Turks returning. I guess once a Turk always a Turk applies to people like us.” Words: 1069 Muse: awesome Tagged: Rody-kins Notes: ROD POOOST!!

the - COCKY - turk - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rod’s grin just got wider when Cissnei looked up at him, her eyes going wide as she called his name in surprise and continued making her way over. His face would probably split in two if he was to grin any wider, he was sure. She was still as pretty as he remembered her being, maybe even a little more so. He didn’t take his aqua eyes off of her as she approached. It made him feel better that she was happy to see him too, judging by the smile that was also on her face. Then again, why wouldn’t she? Who wouldn’t have missed him? Maybe he was being conceited in thinking so, but the place can’t have been as fun noisy without him.
If that was Cissnei and now himself back…would any of the others really come back? If two of them had already, then it was always likely that at least one more of the old crew might come back also, if not most of them. Hopefully all of us, he thought to himself. He wouldn’t get his hopes up, but that was something he would love to see – the whole Turk ‘family’ back together. They would be unstoppable too! He did wonder what had become of everyone, and what they were doing or had been doing with their lives. His own life had been kinda boring with the thrills of being a Turk, but he’d dealt with it. Rod could guess that things had probably been about the same with Two Guns. After all, they both came from gang backgrounds, and to go from that, to the Turks, and then to a ‘normal’ life? It was a really difficult transition.
Blinking and slightly taken aback, Rod glanced down at Cissnei as she hugged him before wrapping his arms around her in return. The grin was back on his face with a vengeance now, more than quite pleased with getting a hug. Sure, it wasn’t all that big, but from Cissnei, he felt like it was. So of course, he returned the gesture. Besides, by the way she was hugging him, Rod was sure that she wouldn’t have let him away with not returning it anyway. “I’ll take tha’ as a yes then?” he laughed, referring to his question of if she missed him or not.
“Never one to talk normally hmm Rod?”
Rod continued to grin, chuckling and shaking his head a little. “Yeah, I guess not,” he said, in a slightly amused tone. “No’ with you, Reno or Rude anyway.” He was looking forward to seeing Reno and Rude again. Well, more so Rude than Reno. Sure, the other redhead had been his main influence when he had first joined the Turks, but that was mostly due to the fact that he had been the first person to beat Rod in a fight. Ever. But the older redhead was a little irritating to Rod, and was one of the few people who could drive him up the wall fairly easily.
“I cannot believe your the one going on the mission with me. When Tseng wouldn't tell me I figured something was up. But never a Turk from the 'old days.' And here I was thinking those busybodies in ShinRa were just talking through their hats about the Turks returning. I guess once a Turk always a Turk applies to people like us.”
Rod laughed as Cissnei spoke, his grin turning a little cheekier. “I asked ’im not to tell. Wanted to surprise ya.” He shrugged before nodding at what she said last. “Yeah, I guess so. I know I couldn’ have lasted much longer in the ‘real world’. It was getting’ borin’ pretty fast.” He twisted his lips slightly, although his eyes were still sparkling. “I mean, sure, it suits some people, but…not a Turk. We live for the danger, righ’?” That smile was back on his lips again now, and there was a glint in his eyes besides their usual sparkle. The ‘normal life’ was fine and had been enough to get him by and keep him occupied, but it wasn’t for him.
He hadn't particularly wanted to pull back from the hug, but it would probably get a little awkward and weird if they hugged any longer. Pulling back, Rod unclasped the strap that held his EMR on his wrist, and clipped the weapon to the side of the motorbike, before turning back to Cissnei. “Shall we get goin’?” He was eager to get started on the mission, and he was practically bouncing up and down in anticipation. He was pretty sure that was probably going to be grinning the whole day. After all, he had a fair bit to smile about. Like being a Turk again, saying goodbye to his boring ‘normal life’, and the fact this his first mission back on the job was with Cissnei.

...Forgotten Turk..."Wings symbolize freedom for those who have none." Of course she was elated, the Turks were her family, all of them. Her mind had been on them all the years she had been gone, were they alright? Surviving in the 'real world'? Adjusting? Missing the Turks as much as she was? Always over thinking things. That was her problem, she cared way to much. Sometimes she thought she shouldn't care so much, but it was just the way she was, though she hadn't always been. Being raised in ShinRa with a harsh training without the guidance of anyone that actually cared for her was tough on anyone, let alone a young girl that had everything taken from her. Only because of her fellow Turks had she snapped out of the heartless cycle of thinking everyone was out to get her.
He actually hugged her back. Success. Reno, Rude and Rod had all given her hugs, even told her they missed her. Call it cliché but it made her feel warm inside. Being missed was a good thing, especially since she had never adjusted to real life. The Turks were what she had always known, ShinRa, military, training, weapons, fighting, missions. It hadn't been just something she liked, as it had been with Shotgun, it had been her life from the time she was a very young girl, unable to imagine what life would be like but having to go away from the orphanage. Not that she had minded, the orphanage hadn't been a happy place, it was where her quiet nature had started, and it only intensified as she got fighting pounded into her head.
Enough of her sob story though. Ahhhh Rod, always so cocky. It made her continue to smile though, would he ever stop being cocky? Probably not, but that was alright because that was the many reasons Rod was loved by the Turks. For a few seconds she wondered faintly what would happen if Reno and Rod got in the same room together. Both had egos large enough to fill up the entire ShinRa building. Knowing them they'd probably get into a massive fight over who's hair was better. The thought made her snicker a bit, but the sad thing? It was probably what would happen. Shaking her head slightly, Cissnei concentrated on what he had said. “Oh yes definitely glad to see you, I've been worried about you and the rest of the Turks. We're a family, I can't help it.”
It felt good, being back, and having other people come back as well. Made it seem like her decision had been less...irrational. Like she hadn't been the only one missing the crazy lifestyle. It seemed odd, that anyone would. The missions, what ShinRa did behind the scenes, but bad or not, it was their company and the Turks would remain loyal to the death, though they remained even more loyal to one of their own. It made her feel like she was part of the family, even though it was a crazy somewhat dysfunctional family, it was HER family. That said, she would be protect them from anything she could. It was no longer a duty, it was what her goal was. Always quiet, Cissnei was fiercely protective of the only people she had ever been close to.
Wait...he had asked Tseng not to tell? Her face changed for a moment, why had he not wanted him to tell? Except he had wanted it to be a surprise? That was Rod for you. Crimson eyes went back to twinkling as they did when she was happy. “A surprise...you definitely accomplished it being a surprise. I was wondering why he wouldn't tell if it was Rude, Reno or Elena I was going with. But it all makes sense! Sneaky.” Reached a hand up Cissnei affectionately ruffled his hair a bit and stepped away when he pulled back. She couldn't help the ruffling, it seemed thats what Turks did when they were happy to see somebody...they messed up their hair. Crossing her arms then she mulled over what he had said. “I suppose your right, for me, the 'real world' was just...how do I put this? It was just to fake. People have no idea whats actually going on, and I still did. I couldn't just go on blindly following, I had to be here, getting the Intel on all the situations, be in the heart of the action.”
Her brow raised when she looked from him to the bike. Of course they were going on a motorbike. If she had been going with Reno they would be going in a helicopter, but this was Rod they were talking about. Was he ever without a motorcycle close by? She doubted it. Riding on a motorcycle to the job hadn't ever entered her mind when she had been told she was no longer going solo on the mission. Having gone through the training to be a Turk she knew how to pilot a helicopter, though nowhere as well as Reno. A helicopter was what she had had in mind, but with a shrug she decided that this would work just as well. Though she was still looking around for where her own motorcycle was. Then she realized that there was only one.
Her cheeks heated a bit, but thankfully no blush as she quickly straitened her suit and adjusted to the situation. “Ready as ever. Lets go.” Following him to where the bike was she stood and waited for him to get on before she got on behind. “Just try to keep up with me for fighting on this mission hmm?” Oh yes, all the teasing. Surprising how well she could loosen up when she was around those that were happy go lucky and funny instead of quiet and withdrawn. When around those like Rude or Tseng Cissnei was all business, almost like she had to be able to measure up to the fellow Turks. Reverting to her quiet withdrawn self and simply being the elite Turk she.

the - COCKY - turk - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rather predictably, the grin was still on Rod’s face. “Man, it’s weird bein’ back ’ere still though,” he said, chuckling a little. “It’ll probably take me a bit of gettin’ used to. Especially with the new building and all.” Rod and Cissnei were a little more similar than most would think. Rod may only have lost one of his parents at a young age and so he hadn’t been put into an orphanage. However, they both had had that attitude in which they viewed other people as enemies, and didn’t trust anyone. For Cissnei, it had been her training that had made her that way, but with Rod it had been living in the slums and gang life.
Life for a ‘slum rat’ had been difficult, and you had to fight everyday to survive. Not to mention some of the things that had been done to him involving the drugs, and by some of the older gang members no less. It wasn’t any wonder that Rod hadn’t really trusted anyone until he joined the Turks. When he had become gang leader, he had been able to relax a little more, but he still never trusted anyone at that point. The Turks changed that. He could remember how brash and hard-headed he was when he first joined them – it was even worse than the way he was now. He had soon come to learn, however, that he could rely on every single Turk around him, and had thus relaxed and let his real personality show.
“Oh yes definitely glad to see you. I’ve been worried about you and the rest of the Turks. We’re a family, I can’t help it.”
He laughed, because what she said was so true. The Turks were portrayed rather differently to the way they actually acted when they were around each other. They had been a large, dysfunctional family, and Rod wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was easy to guess that all the others would have agreed to his thoughts immediately too. The Turks became like the proper home that Rod had never really known, what with being involved in gang life since he was as young as seven years old. He had never really known what it was like to be close to other people. Sure, he had had the complete and utter trust of his entire gang when he had taken over, but they had been nowhere near as close as the Turks had been with each other.
The Turks had become his second family, and even though they hadn’t been blood-related, they had still felt like more of a family to him than his own ever had when he was a child. Even though he was still clearly happy, Rod’s smile turned a little melancholy as he looked at Cissnei. “Yeah, I know what ya mean. I’ve been thinkin’ ’bout everyone too.” He scratched the back of his neck in an almost awkward gesture. Talking about feelings wasn’t his strong point. “When ya’ve been around people for so long, ya can’t really forget them. You can’t help but care.”
“A surprise...you definitely accomplished it being a surprise. I was wondering why he wouldn’t tell if it was Rude, Reno or Elena I was going with. But it all makes sense! Sneaky.”
Rod laughed at Cissnei’s expression a little. “Well, ya know m-” He was cut off as Cissnei reached a hand up and ruffled his hair in an affectionate manner. While it was true he appreciated the gesture, she had messed up his hair. His hair. “Noooo!” The rather comical yelp left his lips as he jumped up from where he was perched on the edge of the seat of the motorcycle, and reached his hands up to try and fix his hair as best he could without looking. He sent a mock glare Cissnei’s way and lowered his hands. It seemed to be a fairly common thing, that some of the male Turks were paranoid and protective of their hair. After all, there wasn’t only himself, but Reno and Two Guns as well.
“I suppose your right, for me, the ‘real world’ was just...how do I put this?”
“A pain in the ass?” Rod suggested immediately without hesitation, grinning the whole while. “Boring as hell?” He laughed. “No, but seriously. I was getting ready to just about kill myself, I was so bored sometimes.” Okay, slight exaggeration there from the auburn-haired drama king, but it was true when he said he could get really bored sometimes.
“It was just too fake. People have no idea what’s actually going on, and I still did. I couldn’t just go on blindly following, I had to be here, getting the Intel on all the situations, be in the heart of the action.”
Chuckling a little, with an amused glint in his eyes, Rod crossed his arms over his chest as Cissnei spoke. “A girl after my own heart,” he joked. (*cough*hewishes*cough*) “But I agree, it’s always better to be in the middle of the action and to know exactly what is going on. Civilians can be so oblivious.” Maybe it was his gang roots, but being in the middle of a battle, or fighting on a mission, was probably where he felt most comfortable. He may not act like it very often, but he was very intelligent. However, it was shown in the quality of his work, his research, his quick-thinking, and his mechanical skills, which didn’t just lie with motorcycles, but with other vehicles and other things.
He wasn’t sure if he was imagining it or not, but Cissnei looked either a little unsure or embarrassed when she realised she would have to travel on Rod’s motorcycle, after glancing around and not seeing another one. Now, here was the thing... Rod wouldn’t admit to it, but he’d kind of done this on purpose. He fought to keep his grin from turning into a little bit of a smug smirk, and succeeded in doing so.
“Ready as ever. Lets go. Just try to keep up with me for fighting on this mission, hmm?”
Rod laughed at her words as she got on the bike behind him. “Oh, don’ worry ’bout me. I haven’t gotten the slightest bit rusty, ya know!” With god-knows-what popping up everywhere over the planet over the past few years, he’d had to save not only his own skin but the skins of various civilians also. Normally he would complain about it, even just a little, but it had given him the chance to not lose his edge. Plus, he still worked out every day, if he could as well. “A motorbike is a little less obvious than the likes of a ’copter, which is why this is probably the best transport we could use for this,” he said, before he started the bike’s engine. “Just’ hold on tight, yeah? ’Cause I don’ wanna be responsible for there being a Cissy pancake lying in the middle of the road,” he joked.

...Forgotten Turk..."Wings symbolize freedom for those who have none." “Not only the new building, but if you haven't worn a suit in years that can also be a bit strange again.” For emphasis Cissnei readjusted her tie and straitened up her suit. Crimson eyes smiled up at Rod happily, and it was a long ways up. Why was she so darn short anyway? Everyone seemed to be taller then her, even the new girl Elena was. Of course it wasn't hard with her being only 5'1. But shrugging that off she thought of the reasons she got along with Rod so well. They weren't all that different in their background. The only difference being that while she got stuck in an orphanage and then was snatched up by ShinRa, Rod was basically forced to become part of a gang. Either way their lives hadn't been all sugar and rainbows, so they could understand the pain and anguish of having everything taken away and having to lead a hard life.
Only through hard work and determination had either one of them gotten to where they were today. The whole idea that everyone was against them had been the result of the years of harsh life. Only through the rest of the Turks helping them had they gotten over that attitude. The odd thing was that Cissnei had become one of the softest hearted of the Turks, a thought of anything happening to any of the Turks brought an ache in her heart. Quite possibly because it hurt to think of her second family dying like the first had. Enough of the sad thoughts though. Rod had just come back, the Turks were returning and life was good -for now- so she shouldn't be thinking about the sad things.
She seemed to have made him laugh, but as he didn't say anything she just decided it was Rod being Rod. Which was fine with her, she liked him being happy and more fun. It brought a smile to her face even when she wasn't exactly happy. That was a feat, probably the only other people that could do that would have to be Reno and possibly Rude. His words were correct when he finally got them out. Of course she wasn't a big fan of speaking about her emotions. But she nodded along with him, understanding everything he said. “I'm glad the Turks more or less reformed me from my previous thinking, thinking everyone was against me, like I did when I first became a Turk I mean. ...That...was a long time ago.” Eyes were downcast then as she thought about her emotions. It was better just to not talk about it sometimes. Only a few people could get her to go away from her quiet girl nature and talk about things like this.
“Even if one of the Turks irritates you at some point, we're family, so in the end we'll be there for each other, regardless.” Cissnei had to admit that his reaction to her messing up his hair was quite comical. A grin split her lips and she covered her mouth to try and keep the laughter down. It didn't work. Shoulders shook from her mirth as he jumped up from the motorcycle and freaked out. “Oh settle down Rod, your hair still looks great.” But she sent him a devilish look and reached up to ruffle his hair again, eyes sparkling. After a few moments though she dropped her hand back down. He could survive with his hair...for now. Besides, she could barely reach his hair when he was standing up. Darn the height.
When Rod butted in halfway through her explanation Cissnei raised her eyebrow. “Well I guess those are correct as well. Boring? Yes it is, especially for me. One more stupid male chauvinist pig that told me they could overpower me was going to die. Just because I'm little doesn't mean I couldn't have beaten them down.” That wasn't a joke either. Having just left the Turks Cissnei had tried earnestly to blend in with the real world and live a 'normal' life, but it hadn't lasted for very long. Then she had simply went through the motions of living while every day thinking about her previous life. Every day she had listened to hot shot men that thought they could do anything when really they wouldn't last 2 seconds against any of the Turks. A hard thing to live with, but somehow she had managed it for as long as she had. “Civilians...sometimes I think they don't get anything.”
After a few more moments of hesitation Cissnei got on behind Rod and positioned herself comfortably behind him. Forcing her mind to focus on the mission they had been given, Cissnei kept a hand on her shuriken and put her other around his waist. Knowing Rod he was going to get a little wild with the motorcycle. Besides, it had been awhile since she had ridden one. Pushing that thought aside Cissnei smiled, “Always confident, better get ready for this though since I really don't know anything about the guys we might go up against today.” Of course, Rod was always ready, he HAD been a gang leader after all. Sometimes she forgot about these things. It was just her motherly ways cropping up again. She couldn't help but worry about the Turks. A Cissy pancake? How did he even come up with these things? Sometimes she thought people like he and Reno just carried around a notebook and wrote down lines they thought were good. “Just get us there in one piece and I'll be happy.” Contemplating ruffling his hair again, Cissnei refrained out of sheer willpower.

Rod chuckled slightly, nodding. “Yeah, tell me ‘bout it,” he said. “Just before you came out I was fiddlin’ with the collar of my shirt. Almost feels suffocatin’ now,” he joked, smiling down at her. Cissnei being short was nothing new to him, of course, considering he had known her a long time, but most of the population of Edge was fairly small nowadays, and he was often taller than almost everyone he met or passed by in the street. He wasn’t unusually tall, however, only around six foot in height, the same as Reno, but still smaller than Rude. He was one of the tallest in the Turks and always had been since he had joined, even when all of the others had been there too. His height had been part of what had made him intimidating back in the slums, considering most people that came from the slums, especially those on the Lower Plate, where there was no natural sunlight and the sky couldn’t even be seen, tended to be shorter.
“I’m glad the Turks more or less reformed me from my previous thinking, thinking everyone was against me, like I did when I first became a Turk I mean. That...was a long time ago.”
Rod could see exactly where she was coming from with that. He and Cissnei weren’t all that different that way. “I know what’cha mean. I was the same.” He smiled at her, before speaking again as he thought back. “Remember what I was like when I first joined? Unruly, violent, and a hell of a lot more arrogant than I am now.” He laughed slightly, remembering what he had been like. In both appearance and attitude, he hadn’t been all that well-behaved at first, considering it had been a drastic change from life on the streets, and it was a lot to get used to. At first he hadn’t liked the other Turks very much, and he was sure the feeling had been mutual on some parts. Eventually, he had calmed down a little, and come around to the way of thinking that the other Turks had, but even now he still had a bit of his old ways left in this thoughts, behaviour, actions and of course, his accent.
“Even if one of the Turks irritates you at some point, we’re family, so in the end we’ll be there for each other, regardless.”
He nodded shortly, making a small “hm” sound in agreement. The ‘irritating’ part made her think of Reno, straight away. Two Guns as well, so an extent. The relationship he had used to share with the two seemed to be like Two Guns and Reno were the older brothers, and Rod was the little brother that they enjoyed picking on and annoying. It fit with both the way they acted, and with the family image that the Turks had going. Or, rather, used to have going, when they were all together. Their family had dwindled down to four people, one new, after the rest of them had left. But now with himself and Cissnei back, that put them up to six, which was a bit closer to the norm. The family would never feel complete though without all the others as well. It wouldn’t be the same around ShinRa without them, that was for sure.
“Oh settle down Rod, your hair still looks great.”
Rod pouted still, although he lowered his hands from his hair. His pouting and puppy dog eyes didn’t work as well as they would for someone a little more baby-face, like Nunchaku, but he thought that his puppy eyes were quite decent. However, he stopped the pretence after a moment and shrugged, playfully glaring at Cissnei. “It better still look great,” he said, before pausing and looking at her in mock horror as though he only just realised what she had said. “Wait...just ‘great’!? Not amazing or awesome, or any other adjectives that mean more?” He was kidding, of course, but he couldn’t help the joking around, because he was in such a good mood. He didn’t even think whatever mission they were being sent on, no matter how dangerous, would be able to dampen his spirits.
“Well I guess those are correct as well. Boring? Yes it is, especially for me. One more stupid male chauvinist pig that told me they could overpower me was going to die. Just because I’m little doesn’t mean I couldn’t have beaten them down.”
“It was very boring,” he said shortly. Although, to be kind of fair, almost everything was boring compared to the life of a Turk. They got sent all over on missions, so got to see plenty of places outside of Edge, and there was also all the fighting, and the danger that comes with the job too, of course. He pulled a face of distaste, furrowing his brow slightly as Cissnei mentioned some “male chauvinist pigs” “There’ll always be assholes like tha’, unfortunately,” he said, unfurrowing his brow after a moment. Rod grinned at her, laughing slightly as she referred to herself as ‘little’. “Oh, I know, tiny can be terrifyin’, Chibi,” he laughed. He wasn’t sure how she was going to react to that exactly, but he hoped that he was spared at least a little bit of her wrath, at least for now, thanks to him being needed for the mission and not being killed yet, Plus, Cissnei was the “mommy” Turk in the eyes of many too, so...would she do something harsh? Probably not. Especially with how he had never been the only person to crack the short jokes at her, even in the past.
“Always confident, better get ready for this though since I really don’t know anything about the guys we might go up against today.... Just get us there in one piece and I’ll be happy.”
Rod laughed as Cissnei made the comment about him always being confident. “Of course I’m confident! I have no reason not to be.” He smirked slightly, and he had a feeling that most people would just like to smack that cocky look right back off his face again. It wouldn’t be the first time that it would have happened either, come to think of it. “It’s all this business with the portals, and that military group tha’s been wanderin’ around, right?” He frowned slightly. “It seems like there’s always somethin’ that’s threatening the planet’s well-being, huh?” He rolled his eyes slightly. “If it’s not some crazy Jenova experiment, or somethin’ else of Hojo’s, it’s a bunch of portals that could lead people to gaia-knows-where, and bring gaia-knows-what here to us.”
Chuckling a little at what Cissnei said last, Rod mock saluted her. He wasn’t exactly known for being a very safe driver, but he wouldn’t go too fast this time, since he had a passenger. He honestly didn’t want that ‘Cissy pancake’ thing to become a reality either... He started up the bike, revving the engine a little, before they were off. It was kind of odd having a passenger on the bike with him for once, after it just being himself for years, and very rarely did anyone ever get on his bike back when he was a Turk before. However, he wasn’t about to complain about having a passenger this time – or rather, he wouldn’t complain about who the passenger was.
