Appearance Sephiroth, in all his appearances, wears a long black coat with silver pauldrons, black boots, and black clothing underneath. The top of his clothing underneath his uniform is split to reveal his chest, covered by crossing leather straps. His hair is long and silver, with his bangs parted to either side of his face. , Sephiroth is known for his green cat-like eyes and the Masamune, his seven-foot long katana that he is rarely seen without. His battle stance with the sword is to hold it over his left shoulder with the blade curving downward. Sephiroth usually wields the Masamune two-handed although he can use is with one hand just as easily. In later appearances he has a single black wing emerging from his right shoulder. He stands at 6.2, carries himself well and his face is almost always void of emotion. The most emotion that shows is in his eyes.

Personality Sephiroth's personality is one of cold ruthlessness. His cold exterior and professional attitude turn people away, even when he was a ‘good guy.’ He is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable, being in the lifesteam only enhanced that as he absorbed the knowledge of the ancients.

Sephiroth is confident to the point of arrogance, but as the strongest SOLDIER alive it could easily be argued he has the right to be. Well-spoken and somewhat graceful, Sephiroth is universally calm, collected, and in control. He can be frustrated and caught off his guard, but this rarely happens. He always commands a situation, being utterly cold and ruthlessness, he doesn’t feel any remorse for his actions. Completely sure of himself, he strikes quickly and without fear, using either magic or physical attacks. He enjoys getting into someone’s mind and torturing them from the inside, which he does to Cloud many times.

He always fights his opponants with grace and poise, never allowing them to get the upper hand. Though some label him insane, Sephiroth is always in control of his own emotions, never allowing them to get the better of him, especially while in battle. He looks down on humans and considers them pathetic and weak, insects compared to he himself. He feels no loyalty except to Jenova, and will not hesitate to attack anyone that gets in his way. He is murderous and vengeful, even if his outward appearance doesn’t speak of these things. Thinking that he is the last of the ancients, Sephiroth feels that everyone and everything is beneath him.

History

Crisis Core

When Sephiroth was born ShinRa raised him to be a Super enhanced soldier, the first SOLDIER member. He was told that his mother’s name was Jenova. Sephiroth was the very best of SOLDIER, gaining fame worldwide for the missions he went on. While in SOLDIER Sephiroth made two good friends, fellow 1st class SOLDIER’S Angeal Hewley and Genesis Rhapsodos. They say each other as good friends even though they were rivals. When the three fight Sephiroth easily fights both Angeal and Genesis without a problem, though they do not harm each other badly, Genesis obtains a flesh wound. Though not serious, it does not heal, and later Genesis deserts SOLDIER. Sephiroth becomes uneasy when he learns of this and does not wish to go on the missions against Genesis. Just before his final mission he hints to Zack, a fellow 1st class SOLDIER that he may leave ShinRa altogether.

On his final mission, which is to go with Zack to the Nibelheim Mako reactor and inspect it. While on the mission they find pod structures with monster creatures inside, which is hinted to previously be humans injected with jenova cells. They also find a chamber that is labeled JENOVA, and when Zack talks about a possible connection between the monsters and Jenova, along with Genesis’ presence and what he says, makes Sephiroth fly into a rage. Genesis tells him about his past, that he was born fro ma Jenova project and that he is a monster. Though Sephiroth does not fully understand what Genesis tries to tell him, he states that “Whether this is the truth, or lies to deceive me…I’ll see you rot.”

Because he is disturbed about all he learned, Sephiroth goes to the ShinRa mansion and reads all the research notes of the previous researchers. Because of what he learned he becomes crazy and angered. He thinks that he is the last of the Ancients and that he is Jenova’s son, and that they humans had betrayed the Ancients, which makes him want to avenge his ancestors. After that he burns down Nibelheim in his psychotic rage. Tifa attacks him but he quickly cuts her down. Zack then attacks him, and though Zack holds his own for quite a long time, Sephiroth eventually defeats him. Cloud then shows up, picks up the buster sword, and because Sephiroth is caught off guard seeing his ‘mother’ Cloud impales him. Severing Jenova’s head, he goes out of the reactor while Cloud is tending to Tifa. Though Cloud attacks him again, Sephiroth stabs him with the masamune and holds him over a ledge. Cloud however, finds unknown strength and hurls Sephiroth into the mako below.

FINAL FANTASY VII

After that Sephiroth spent a few years in the lifestream learning the secrets of the Ancients and absorbing their knowledge. He learns about Black Materia and how it can be used to summon Meteor. Crystalized in mako he remains in hibernation in the Northern Crater. Using his influence over Jenova he uses that to control her. Five years after what was believed to be his death in the Mako reactor, Sephiroth uses Jenova’s remains which take his form and break out of containment. He see’s Cloud and his party and eludes to the reunion, at later times saying the same thing again. He goes to the temple of the Ancients and there meets Cloud and his party once again, this time telling them his full plans. Because the Planet relies on the Lifestream to heal itself when wounded. By using the Black Materia, Sephiroth planed to use it to call Meteor to strike the Planet, causing another large wound. Sephiroth would then place himself at the center of this wound, merging with the Lifestream and taking control of it, becoming a God ruling over the Planet.

Though Cloud obtains the black material Sephiroth uses his control over him to take control of Cloud’s body and obtain it from him. When Aerith tries to summon Holy, which is the only summon able to override Meteor, Sephiroth fell from overhead and impales her with his sword, killing her. Sephiroth then holds back the power of Holy in the planet, holding it back simply by his will and the power of Jenova.

When Tifa and Cloud follow him to the Northern Reactor, they see that though Cloud thought it was himself, it was Zack that he thought he was. He tells Cloud that he was never in Nibelheim and that he isn’t even real. He tells him that he is nothing more then Jenova cells that have taken on the memory of a boy named Cloud. Because of his power, he shatters Cloud’s fragile mind. At the same time he tells the rest of the party through an illusion that Cloud needs help. They go to help and Sephiroth uses Cloud once again to hand over the Black materia. When the crater collapses they are forced to flee, while he uses his power to hide where he is from them.

He then starts to manipulate his body into that of a god while he waits for the Meteor to arrive. The sister ray is used to penetrate his barrier and allows Cloud and his friends to enter the crater and find him. They find him and defeat one of Sephiroth’s forms, before he emerges in hid ‘god’ structure. Though they defeat him, his mind survives and pulls Cloud into the lifestream for one last battle. Thought Sephiroth tries to take control of Cloud’s mind again, Cloud is now able to defend his mental state from Sephiroth better. Sephiroth dissolves into the lifestream seemingly defeated…

FINAL FANTASY ADVENT CHILDREN

Because of his powerful will, he is able to pull himself out of the lifestream in the form of a trio of silver haired men. He can’t however, become full without a large amount of Jenova cells. Sephiroth forces their actions. Sephiroth uses Kadaj as his ‘body’ when he absorbs the Jenova cells. This time Sephiroth has a different plan, which would be to use Jenova's influence over those infected with Geostigma to control the planet - once they die, their tainted spirits will join the Lifestream and further infect it with Jenova, until Sephiroth can control it. Then, he will use the planet to travel the universe, and find another planet to rule over.

When He fights Cloud, Cloud is exhausted while he doesn’t break a sweat and doesn’t loose his calm as he is only toying with Cloud, hoping to break him before he destroys him. He is however, defeated when Cloud uses his fusion swords in his omnislash. A wing sprouts as he says his final words, “I will never become a memory…” before he dissolves into a weak Kadaj, who then dissolves into the lifestream.

PRESENT

Sephiroth has once emerged from the lifestream, only this time he is in his full form again, not an illusion of the man he was originally. He has absorbed more information and knowledge from the lifesream, gaining more abilities and magic as well. He has come back…for what though? For the planet? For revenge on Cloud? Or something more?


Abilities Sephiroth is a master swordsman and is very strong and agile .Sephiroth also has a measure of psychic abilities, able to read minds, project illusions, and levitate objects and people using his will alone. Sephiroth also has the ability to manipulate the lifestream.

Limit Break: Super Nova - summoning a meteor to destroy the sun and engulf the party in a wave of fire

Heartless Angel: A move that drains the opponents HP to 1 digit.

Octaslash: a swift sequence of eight sword attacks.


Summons Sephiroth can summon many different things, including Bahamut and Ifrit

Sephiroth stood still as this…Geoff spoke more. After all, what did he have to loose having this man on his side? It was true that he was simply a human, but sizing him up, Sephiroth decided that against other humans he might actually have a chance. Going against he himself, or one of his remnants…that was a different story. He doubted Geoff would even give Cloud a hard time of it, but Cloud wasn’t any normal human either. Cloud was enhanced, and though still human, he had darkness in him that could never fully be gone. In previous times it had been that darkness that had kept calling him back. Now however, it was he himself, in his original body, which made him more powerful then ever, especially with the new abilities he had learned in the lifestream.

He caught the eye roll and smirk, and though he did not say anything, his intense green eyes bored into Geoff’s, the destruction and hatred showing through his calm cold nature. Geoff might think himself suave for ‘recruiting’ him, but he wouldn’t know how deadly it was working with Sephiroth until it was too late. Sephiroth truly felt no loyalty towards anyone but his mother, so as soon as he was through with Geoff he would destroy him. It would be easy, one slash with the masamune and he would be dashed apart. His eyes showed none of his intentions, but truly enough, when he finished with Geoff he would not remain living.

His ears caught the sound jogging footsteps. Why run anywhere? He never ran, he wouldn’t allow himself to do it. He never had the need to run, for he always commanded every situation he was in. Glowing green eyes, made that way from the Jenova cells in his body shone brightly as he knew exactly who it was. Back was turned to her, they stood in the shadows as the last rays of light silhouetted where she stood. Geoff mentioned that they should take her out when Cloud and Yazoo weren’t around. He smirked as he gazed over his shoulder, eyes now glaring at Repa as she stood there. He half turned to her, but he did not move other then that. Chest rose slightly as he took in a breath, before turning his head back to Geoff. “You are an amateur when it comes to this game. I won’t harm her until they can see her suffer. Any human can be broken when they have to watch what they treasure suffer in front of their eyes. I do not wish to kill Yazoo or Cloud right away. Bend them, break them…that I will, but kill them? To simple…”

Sephiroth wasn’t just a kill type of person. He loved to watch them be tortured inside, loose everything they care about, and when there is nothing else…that is when he would attack physically. Though an expert in any and every kind of fighting, Sephiroth enjoyed getting into human’s heads. It was so simple…pathetic humans. “That doesn’t mean, however, that I am going to let her go…” And with that he took one graceful step towards Repa. Steps were in order and without sound as he walked toward her as graceful and poised as a cat. She would find out the meaning of pain…
