Appearance
Like the other Remnants, is markedly inspired by Sephiroth's design. Kadaj appears in a long black coat, although he wears his zipped up, unlike Sephiroth, whose coat is closed only by a single buckle. He also has shoulder-length silver hair and green eyes. He wields a double-bladed katana called Souba in battle. Kadaj is also left-handed like Sephiroth. In particular due to all their similarities, Vincent Valentine describes Kadaj as a "larval" form of Sephiroth, foreshadowing Kadaj's transformation. In this, Kadaj seems to be the Remnant closest to Sephiroth himself, able to briefly take on Sephiroth's appearance at times.
Personality:
Obsessive. Compulsive. Disorderly. Insane in the membrane. Kadaj can be any of the descriptive terms listed, either falling in with or being the complete opposite of whatever is chosen to sum up his whole personality. And, being Kadaj, he wouldn't settle for such a brief listing.
As a villain, it is only natural to be mean-spirited and cruel toward those who can be easily suppressed. In Kadaj's case, everyone is meant to be suppressed because he simply thinks he's better than them. This also goes for those 'do-gooders' who 'help and protect' the 'less fortunate.' Although he is suppose to be part of Sephiroth, the young man carries out the more violent tendencies without hesitation. Think about it this way: if Loz embodies Sephiroth's masculinity and Yazoo inherits his state of attractiveness, it would be only fair for Kadaj having a nautral hand for leading the group with the mentality of a schizophrenic psychopath. That is, if it makes any sense.
His behavior comes with many extremes, and all of them have a link to either his Mother or Sephiroth. Being a leader, he is less than likely to go along with any other plan than his own, his talent for bringing everything together for his own selfish purposes questionable but very thought out and reinforced methodically. He doesn't rest until all the bases are covered, and if people decide to get in his way, he'll make sure they don't try doing it again. Of course, with the other people within the multiverse, this will prove a challenge since none of them seem to understand a one-time warning.
Although intelligent, there is a noticeable flaw in his thinking. It wavers from being someone with an established sort of maturity to an impractical and spoiled child with a constant need for appreciation and acknowledgement. Kadaj seeks most of this attention from his Mother, a person (or thing) that doesn't even respond accordingly due to the way she/it is stuck floating in a large glass tube for research. He can look to others for the same thing, but it may also endanger their lives as well. He already sees Sephiroth as someone to surpass in order to gain full recognition. As twisted as that sounds, it's true; the person he admires the most is also someone he needs to topple from the highest metaphorical pedestal.
He can socialize when it comes to interacting with people. He carries that Sephiroth aire in the best way he can, mannerisms and speech picking up some of the One-Winged Angel's essence. However, actual socializing consists a tangle of many sentences, words, and topics that may or may not be coherent enough unless he is trying to persuade people to see things his way. He will also laugh at times, both appropriate and inappropriate, each having a distinct tone to them to signal one of his unstable emotions. Then again, conversing with the young man can be a bit hazardous if nobody knows what he is capable of doing.
In short, it is easy to say Kadaj is better than anyone else and he likes to keep it that way. Crazy as he may be, he does it with flair. If he cannot be the best, then no one can. Not even Sephiroth or any of his 'brothers.'
History:
Kadaj initially appears to summon Shadow Creepers to attack Cloud Strife while he is out riding his motorcycle. After speaking to one of the Turks over the phone, he recalls his monsters and sets off to find Rufus Shinra. Arriving shortly after Cloud leaves Rufus, Kadaj reveals that the plague Geostigma is caused by the remnants of Jenova in the Lifestream, and that those infected are part of a plan for a second Jenova Reunion that will recreate Sephiroth. However, Geostigma alone isn't enough, Jenova's remains are needed, and Kadaj believes Rufus knows where they are.

With a group of infected children brought to the Forgotten Capital, Kadaj proceeds to tell them that Geostigma is caused by their bodies rejecting Jenova's influence (which ironically, is correct), and that her presence makes them brethren. Kadaj has the children drink from a pool of dark water, activating the latent "reunion instinct" in their Jenova cells. Cloud arrives afterward and battles Kadaj and his brothers. Outnumbered and weakened by his own Geostigma infection, Cloud is defeated but is saved by Vincent Valentine. It is at this time that Vincent reveals to Cloud what Geostigma is, and the impending rebirth of Sephiroth it could mean, although he does not yet reveal Kadaj's connection to Sephiroth.
With the reunion instincts of the children to guide them, the Remnants go to Edge, where Loz and Yazoo battle the Turks and Kadaj summons Bahamut SIN to attack the city. During the attack, Kadaj confronts Rufus again, and confirms that Sephiroth is about to be reborn. After Cloud and his friends defeat Bahamut SIN, Rufus reveals Jenova's head in a box concealed under his cloak. Casting the box off the building where they are standing, Kadaj leaps after it and catches it. The ensuing chase between the Remnants and Cloud along the highways into Midgar apparently kills Yazoo and Loz. Kadaj gains the lead and stops at the Sector 5 Church to inspect Jenova; he is promptly horrified at what is left of her and cries. Cloud bursts in, and an enraged Kadaj attacks him. However, Aerith calls a geyser of healing water to erupt from the flowerbed, wounding Kadaj and causing him to flee. The water also cures Cloud of his Geostigma.
Cloud confronts Kadaj outside the ruins of Shinra Headquarters. Kadaj is unaware of what to do with Jenova's remains now that he finally has them; when Cloud points this out, he attacks. Now that he is cured and back to his full strength, the battle ends with Cloud as the victor and Kadaj hanging from the edge of a tower. With no other option, he leaps into the air and absorbs Jenova's cell into his body, leading to the recreation of Sephiroth moments later. After Sephiroth is defeated, Kadaj is reformed from his dissolving remains, and he attempts a half-hearted attack on Cloud but collapses into his arms, mortally wounded. Weakly calling him "brother", Cloud holds him while Aerith speaks to Kadaj from the Lifestream. Believing her to be Jenova, Kadaj calls her "Mother" and happily dissolves into the Lifestream with her guidance, dying in peace.
Abilities:
Kadaj's main weapon is known as Souba, a double-headed katana that doesn't overcompensate for anything. It stays true to its normal length, each blade set parallel to each other with a few inches in between. With the Souba, he is able to deflect and attack with ease, catching his opponent's weapon whenever he can in order to disarm them. Of course, it only works when they are caught off guard or have a shorter blade. The length of any blade may not even matter. Although he may not be as strong as some of the best (like Sephiroth), he can still match others in swordplay and speed. He's not invincible, and he will still work up to the point in which he plans to be unless discouraged thoroughly.
It wouldn't be like him to not be able to call upon another power source to do the dirty work. As a distraction, or as another line of defense, it's normal to use these summons. Kadaj has two types to bring forth: the Shadow Creeper, which is a four-legged creature with an exoskeletal-like structure, and Bahamut Sin, the un-dragon. Shadow Creepers are fast and can stay alive until they are fully dispersed, vanishing into thin air and dark particles. Although they can be ripped apart, they still have some sort of solidity to them, making them dangerous to any normal human being. Bahamut Sin, on the other hand, is just destruction written all over it. Although it's suppose to be a dragon, it doesn't look like one. However, the attacks are similar to any other Bahamut, including the giant explosive attack (Mega Flare) geared to wipe out whatever is within a good-sized radius of about 300 meters or just create damage to a person's health depending on the levels set. Amazingly, abnormal people (almost everyone on Gate) can survive both monsters and fight back. Each are still limited due to their summon length, and it can pretty much wear Kadaj out if he is not careful.
Summons: Bahamut SIN , Shadow Creepers
Magic: Materia
Strengths:
Kadaj is a highly skilled swordsman and is able to battle Cloud competently one-on-one, although he is defeated. When Cloud is weakened due to Geostigma, Kadaj is able to match and defeat him, and he is evidently strong enough to defeat both Reno and Rude by himself, as they are incapacitated when he confronts Rufus without his brothers. Kadaj also has access to Materia in the film, and uses it both to summon Bahamut SIN and to cast Matra Magic. Even without the aid of Materia, Kadaj is able to summon Shadow Creepers at will. In Advent Children Complete, Kadaj is able to infiltrate Healin Lodge by transforming into a black mist.
Upon walking into the water at the Forgotten Capital, it turns dark and the Jenova cells within the children become active when they drink it. One might assume this is another power accessed by Materia, but this is incorrect; the Materia orb in Kadaj's gauntlet does not glow when he uses this power, as it does whenever he otherwise uses Matra Magic. It has been speculated that this may be some form of Limit Break due to the way Kadaj glows when activating this power.
Weaknesses:
Obsessive - About Mother, about Sephiroth, about anybody who messes with him (intentionally or unintentionally). That pretty much sums it up.
Oedipus Complex- He feels the need for approval and maybe 'love' from this thing that isn't really much of a maternal figure
Inferiority Complex - He is compared often to the One-Winged Angel himself. This leads to extreme belittlement on his part, only noting other people's comments to fuel things.
Weapon: Souba.
Crushes: Haha!! You're kidding right?!! XD NONE!! XD
