His grin increased in size after he heard Ayako's comment. "Of course." This was something he was used to - something he liked.
He gestured to himself, even though there was no need to. "Shichiro. Shichiro Da-tey." He emphasised the latter part. At least they'd be able to say it right.
He allowed himself to look around, as well. "And - nope - no idea where we are."

She nodded. "Pleased to meet you both." Manners were a must with her, regardless of the situation.
Stopping her lips from twisting upwards, she also turned to look around. "Hm ... I'm afraid I don't know where we are." The only fact that comforted her was that she was not the only one lost ...
She then turned to Shichiro. "Did the others follow you here?" He'd know who she was referring to.

"His name's Viktor. Viktor Collyns." At least Ashibo's interest in finding out her father's name explained a lot. He was obviously some sort of acquaintance of his... or something.
She smiled at the trio, glad that they were - at least - on first-name terms. Although it wasn't much, the current company were - nevertheless - a source of comfort for her. Not that she was the most outgoing person around... "Nice to meet you guys." She grinned a little at Shichiro's introduction, although her show of emotion was not as... 'over-dramatic' as his. Honestly, that grin of his was - almost - impossibly wide. Regardless, he sounded like someone she'd be able to get along with. Easily.
Like her fellow humans, Jamaila turned to inspect the area as well... and was satisfied when no other fiend of any sort jumped out from behind the rocks. "Well, um... it's just a guess, but I'm thinking we're on Pulse right now." The thought itself terrified her a little - she'd always been under the impression that Pulse was some sort of otherworld. An otherworld filled with monsters along with various other creatures that she'd never even dream of mingling with. And, she was... partially right. In a way, since she'd never seen the fiends that the group had just annihilated. Well, only in her textbook and the slides that her Professor had presented to the entire class... but that didn't matter much, in her opinion.
She then focused her attention solely on Ashibo. "You're from Cocoon, right? Well, then, does this place look familiar to you? You've never been here on any type of - um - mission, or anything... ?" There was a feeling in her gut, as if she was right in what she was saying - and thinking - but, she still wanted to make sure.
She then turned back to look at both Ayako and Shichiro, satisfied that she had some knowledge that was useful. Possibly. "Those things we killed were Flans. I remember learning about them in class." To be honest, most of that was a lie. She was lucky that she had even remembered the names of the fiends, but she hadn't actually learned much else than that in class. She'd been too busy messing about. If she had been paying attention, then maybe she would have been able to exploit their weaknesses. After all, Flans were pretty resistant to physical attacks. Out of all the fiends to encounter today...

----- As soon as he heard the name of her father, Ashibo knew that this was the girl that he had been introduced to. Well, not directly - his father had shown the newly-recruited PSICOM officer a picture of her. They were close - Mr. Zain and Mr. Collyns. "That explains why you look so familiar. You see, my father is a close friend of your father's and he'd also shown me a picture of you." He allowed a small smile to lighten up his face. "He thinks very highly of you."
He then extended an arm, as if to allow the others to resume walking first. "I believe that we should be moving now. There may be more of those fiends around and I don't think that it would be wise to stay here, just waiting for another battle." Even though the first monsters they had fought were weak, it was likely that there were stronger fiends around.
He raised his eyebrows in shock and turned to look at Jamaila. "Pulse? Are you sure ...?" Normally, this wouldn't have bothered him. But Pulse was the land of the enemy. Which was why he felt a little nervous and a little terrified.
After Jamaila's query, his eyes were then caught by the slightly familiar-looking land. How strange that he had never noticed it before ... "It does look a little familiar ... But, then again, I've never actually been stationed here before. My missions usually took place in Cocoon." Regardless, he wouldn't have wanted to risk the journey here, anyway ... Too much seemed to be at stake whenever Pulse was involved. It wouldn't have been right for him to just leave his home without saying goodbye to his father ...
His ears then perked up as he registered the familiar name. 'Flans ...' Despite feeling slightly disappointed - he should have been paying more attention to what had been going on around him - he felt a little sting of awe prick up inside of him. It seemed that Jamaila did pay attention - which may have been a good selling point for her, had she been a PSICOM soldier or even a Guardian Corps member (something that she was hoping to be, according to her father). A very impressive girl, indeed. "You're right, they were Flans." As a soldier, you had to know your enemies. And Ashibo was glad that he did. "They're actually weak against Fire-based spells and can - apparently - merge together to form another form of Flan - a Dire Flan." They hadn't done so in the battle that Ashibo and company had been subject to, but it was good to know these things. After all, in a place like this, the group were going to have to be as well-informed - and prepared - for their enemies as they could possibly be.

----- The grin was still on his face. "Likewise." These guys - while not familiar (save for Ayako) - had proved that they were, indeed, competent. After all, they'd helped dispose of some fiends, which was more than could be said for some of his other lackeys. Or, rather, 'subordinates', he mentally corrected himself.
He then turned back to look at Ayako. "The others? Eh, nope, can't say they did. I was the only one that fell into the portal..." Even now, he wondered what the others were thinking ...
Eh, not that he cared much - he preferred to play by his own rules, wherever he was.
After Ashibo's next words, he shrugged slightly carelessly. "Well, I think that we'd be more than a match for any one of those things. But, you're right - there's no point wasting time here." And with that said, he led the way. To where, he didn't know. They passed a lot of green as they walked, Shichiro in the front. Although the scenery looked ... decent, he still felt a little apprehensive. Say if they were ambushed or something? That never boded well for the victims of said ambush. His knife rested on his hip, longing for another battle. Although, in a place like this, another battle wouldn't be too surprising. Best to keep one's senses up on alert.
He vaguely regarded both Jamaila and Ashibo explain their surroundings and the fiends that they had been forced to kill. Well, not that he cared much where they were or what those things were called - he just wanted to go back home. For him, theoretics were but a word - he believed more in the practical stuff. He felt that it was best to leave the thinking and the logistics to someone like Ayako, since she was much better at that kind of stuff than he was.
For now, though, he was focused on getting out of here - and hoped that, on all accounts, he could get out of here.Well ... even if he couldn't, at least he'd have some very welcome company here. Which was more than he had expected once he'd realized that he was in the middle of nowhere.

One side of her mouth lifted in welcome. Although she was more comfortable by herself, it couldn't hurt to - sometimes - travel with a friend or two (or three). Although, they weren't exactly traveling, to be honest - had it not been for the fact that they were in a land not exactly regarded as 'welcoming', then maybe they would be able to hang out more.
She almost made a face. Where in the world was all this... tolerance coming from? Last she'd thought, she was focused only on getting her work done. Mingling with people, having fun... that usually took a backseat to her duties as a - respectable - member of Esthar.
So why was she willing - almost eager to walk around with these guys...?
Well, it wouldn't do for her to question that right now, especially now that Shichiro had informed her of the very thing that she knew - but didn't want to believe - to be true. "... I see." His answer didn't surprise her.
Ayako liked the way that Ashibo thought. After all, their safety was an important issue, especially now, in this place, filled with fiends. "I agree. It's better for us to find a way out of here." With Shichiro being the first one to walk, Ayako followed him and inwardly admired the nature surrounding her. Unlike Esthar, this place - Pulse, was it? - was thriving in greenery. The place certainly looked nice, but the creatures inhabiting it proved otherwise.
Both Jamaila and Ashibo seemed to be slightly familiar with the land, which caused Ayako's curiosity to rise up a notch. Were both this land and Cocoon in war, just like Esthar and Galbadia were...? Although, it seemed a little one-sided, in her opinion - if both Jamaila and Ashibo were from Cocoon, then it was obvious that that world was thriving with civilization. Human civilization. But, this place...
Ayako looked around again, absorbing the sight of the jagged rocks and wild plantation. This place seemed almost... dormant - there was nothing here but monsters. Under her lingering curiosity, mild shock also floated inside of her. What had happened here...?
The fiends themselves - Flans? - sounded familiar, but looked different from the Flans that she had encountered once or twice in her home-world. "Actually, I've also fought a couple of Flans in my home-world. Although they looked a little different from the fiends that we had just defeated..." Maybe, like humans, they had evolved or something. Not that she would be 100% positive about that; her interest - and expertise - lied in law and politics. As well as combat, of course.

Ah... so that was why he was so curious about her. Now it made sense to her, in a way. Although, she mostly disagreed about the "he thinks highly of you" part. After all, Viktor Collyns wasn't a man exactly known for expressing his emotions outright. Nevertheless, she smiled - albeit hesitantly - back at Ashibo. "Yeah, I guess so..." She tried to disguise her reluctance as best she could.
She then nodded at Ashibo's suggestion. "Yeah, that's a good idea... although I'm not exactly sure how we're actually going to get out of here..." The latter part was mumbled, almost dejectedly. After all, she was no expert at navigating her way out of places. If anything, she was - apparently - an expert at navigating her way into places. Places which were usually best left unexplored.
She then frowned a little. Great... so even the PSICOM officer here didn't know a way out of Pulse. With all hope diminished, she silently prayed for a miracle whilst following behind Ayako and Shichiro. Vaguely, she also noticed the sky lightening, the sun's rays no longer blocked by the cliffs that had previously been shielding the group from the light and heat before. In a way, she liked it. It was different from Cocoon - no Fal'Cie was controlling the weather. It was all natural...
"So... you say that you haven't been stationed here before... Well, if you wouldn't mind me asking, where have you been stationed?" The question was, obviously, directed at Ashibo. There was - also - no real curiosity behind it. But, at the same time, she wanted to know where he'd been. Traveling, for her, seemed like such a fun thing to do. It was just too bad that she had classes and her training to think about...
Her eyes then glowed in remembrance and she nodded once again. "Oh, yeah - Fire..." How had she forgotten that...? Tch, no wonder her professors weren't too happy about her progress so far...
Then again, how would they feel once she let them know that she had set foot on Pulse-?
She cringed before diverting her thoughts to another topic. Best not to think about class right now - especially not in a dangerous place like this.
As Ayako revealed that she had also fought some Flans before, Jamaila's face was marred with a thoughtful expression. "Huh, I wonder why that is..." Then again, it wasn't as if it was relatively impossible for other species to evolve, as well...

----- It was plain to Ashibo that Jamaila was reluctant. Maybe she'd been involved in an argument with her father. After all, disagreements did happen. "I know it's probably none of my business, but... I honestly do feel that your father loves you. Maybe he doesn't show it, but that doesn't change the way that he feels about you." Had she been there, as her father had all but gushed about his only daughter, then there may have been a better chance of her understanding that.
Following the others to... wherever they were heading, Ashibo addressed the group, in particular, Jamaila. "Unfortunately, as you may have guessed, I'm not sure how we'll be able to get out of here. But, if this is Pulse, then I feel that the only solution we have is to fly back to Cocoon." Maybe, if there was an airship here or something, but... "But, I gather that none of you guys came here by airship, right?" Then again, there was another 'mode' of transportation. The portals. Hadn't that been the way that he'd been taken here, against his will?
As the light filtered through the gap between the cliffs, Ashibo momentarily admired the view before Jamaila's words moved his attention back to her. Where he'd been stationed? Well... "I'm usually stationed around Eden these days. Although, I'm originally from Palumpolum. Hmm... I've also been stationed in Bodhum and - once - we had even been stationed in Lake Bresha." Thanks to the advanced technology and wide access to transport, PSICOM had provided Ashibo with a small idea of the different cultures and traditions associated with the different places in Cocoon. Although, this was a first. Stranded on Pulse...
He allowed a small smile to lighten up his face. Jamaila's sudden remembrance of the Flan's weakness gave him a small opening to crack a joke. Well, in his opinion, anyway - jokes weren't exactly his forte, so to speak. "Well, since you just realized now, I gather that you hadn't been paying attention to your enemies' weakness?" Then, more seriously, he added, "The best way to eliminate your enemies is to exploit their weakness - or weaknesses, if they have more than one. It's a common survival tactic, which should prove very effective here."
As Ayako and Jamaila contemplated the differences in the Flans' appearance, he silently pondered as well. Of course, for him, it was evidently clear that the two others - Ayako and Shichiro - were not from Cocoon. Something he was still a little apprehensive about - how had this sudden gap in the worlds opened? "Well, there's really nothing else I can think of save for the fact that the fiends had somehow evolved. Or, maybe, they are another type of Flan, but still in the same 'family'." It was a little degrading for him, having to stoop to mild guesswork. But there was nothing he could do about that, now. And, he hated that - he felt helpless and useless. As a young boy, he'd always liked helping people. And still did. But, in this situation, he felt that it was out of his depth.
As he trudged along, feet not entirely sure where they were going, mind set on finding a way back to Cocoon, he turned to both Ayako and Shichiro. Personally, he felt he preferred the female, purely because of her similar ability to stay cool, calm and collected. So, he mostly addressed her. "I gather that the two of you aren't from Cocoon, then... So, if you wouldn't mind me prying, where exactly are you from?" Although he was set on going back to Eden, or maybe even Palumpolum, his mind was making up contingency plans. What if there was no way to go back to Cocoon? Well, if that was the case (although he hated to consider it), would both Ayako and Shichiro be able to take him and Jamaila to their homeworld...?

----- As Ayako's demeanor metaphorically slumped in acknowledgment, Shichiro turned back to address her. "If you're worried about Maz, don't be. Last I heard, he was in that orphanage of his, looking after the kids." Even now, after knowing the guy for a couple of years, he still didn't understand how Masaru - a stern, bad-ass warrior - could be like a father to those kids.
After a minute, he stopped considering how he did. 'That man's just full of surprises ...'
He scrunched his nose before turning back to address Ashibo. "Airship...? Nah, I'd been taken here by some dark portal ... thing ..." Whatever magic that had been involved with taking him here, he didn't like. He was far away from home! This place, according to Ashibo, was nearer to his hometown than to Esthar. What would that mean, then...? That he'd have to stay in Cocoon?
After Ashibo inquired as to where the DTC members were from, Shichiro spoke up first. "We're from a place called Esthar. It's a nice place, with loads of technology and that. None of this 'nature' around here ..." As the group trudged on, Shichiro allowed himself to absorb the view of the place. Nope, he couldn't have landed in a more different world than his own. All he had to do now was to keep walking and to hope. Hope that they could get out of here as soon as possible.
- A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER -
He almost felt like giving up. And the feeling of surrendering had never crossed his mind - not even when Masaru beat him ... again and again and again ...
Slumping down, with his back sliding down the rock behind him, Shichiro seated himself in a slightly comfortable position. Sure, some of the fiends they had fought didn't pose a problem at all. Yet, the larger ones ...
They had, luckily, ran away from the monsters, but not before getting whacked a couple of times. Shichiro dusted his shoulder before sighing noisily. "Man, what a place to land in, huh ...?" The question wasn't directed to anyone in particular; he'd just wanted to voice his - or rather, their - misfortune out loud. Had it not been for the fact that the Pulsian plains were just loaded with fiends, then there might have been a chance that the four would have - finally - found a way out of this place.
But, that was not to be so, and the group found themselves back in the place they had started, the safest (in their opinion, anyway) place in this monster-infested planet/world. Regarding his comrades' similarly disgruntled appearances, he thought of something. "Look, I'm not sure if any of you agree with me, but ... I don't think there's a chance that we'd be able to leave this place right now. So ... why don't we just rest a bit? Ya gotta admit, that whole walking around thing just takes the stamina right outta ya!" Then again, he wasn't as young as he used to be ...

She almost did a double-take when Shichiro spoke his next words. Did she really look like she needed reassurance...? Nevertheless, the comforting words that came out of his mouth were very welcoming. Particularly as this was Shichiro she was referring to. Had it been someone else, then she may not have paid it too much mind. "I'm not worried about him." And she honestly wasn't. She was worried about herself, and the rest of the group, but not Masaru. He could look after himself.
Her eyebrows creased together. Could they really leave this place with an airship...? That was - in this case - pretty unfortunate, seeing as she - and Shichiro, too - had arrived here by- "Like Shichiro, I was also transported here by some dark portal." It had been her first time 'warping' from one 'world' to another. And she hadn't liked the unfamiliarity of the sensation. Plunging downward into nothing but darkness-
The mention of her home bought her thoughts to a more collected and - slightly - reminiscent piece of mind. Hyne, how she wished that she could go home... "Yes, Esthar - it's an amazing city; one of the largest in our world, in fact." She didn't want to elaborate - after all, she'd just end up missing home more than she already did.
When her eyes were not plastered to the view of the Pulsian greenery, her mind wandered. Were the others okay? She hoped that Takeishi and the others weren't worried. After all, they were - temporarily - without a superior colleague. What if Katashi had ordered the guys to look around for her? She had an idea - why not call someone to take them away from here? Ayako felt a little surprised that none of the others had thought of this sooner. Withdrawing her cell phone out of her pocket, she informed the trio of her plan. "I'm just going to let my comrades know that we're stranded in this... 'Pulse' place. Maybe they'd be able to fly here with the helicopter assigned to most DTC members." But, then again, could they enter this world, just like that? Since both she and Shichiro - and, possibly, the other two as well - had been taken her via portal, was this a world where one could only be transported here with such a transportation device?
However, she hesitated in dialing the number of one of the DTC members. What would she say to them, anyway? 'Okay, I know that you must be worried, but don't be - I'm stranded in this world called Pulse - with Shichiro and two others - with no idea of where we actually are - so, could you come and take us back home, please?'
[/i] She almost shook her head. Even mentally, it sounded absurd. Her hope then faded away. There was no signal - her phone was useless right now. She sighed. So much for that idea... "Well, since there's no signal here, I guess we should just keep on walking and find a way out of here..." The end of the sentence was then punctuated with another sigh. The only ray of positivity she could focus on was whether or not they'd be able to find another portal. Then, maybe, they'd finally be able to go back home... ~ A Couple of hours later ~ Her hope was completely and utterly gone. She felt the same as when she had been lying on the hospital bed - useless and helpless. Like Shichiro, she found herself a place to sit (although, it wasn't as if she was spoilt for choice; the entire place was filled with rocks and generally uncomfortable 'seats') and lightly wrapped her arms around her legs, which were semi-stretched out. "I know. Unfortunate, isn't it?" she replied, completely in agreement in Shichiro. Which didn't happen often, admittedly. As Shichiro crushed the remainder of Ayako's hope, she surrendered to the more 'realistic' point of view. Which was - in other words - mainly Shichiro's point of view. Eh, sometimes... But, she wanted to find a way out of here. She wanted to think 'yes, we'll be able to leave here. No matter what.'[/i] They could all do with a bit of hope, after all (Jamaila, especially). Then again, at this rate, we'd never be able to leave.[/i] She mused to herself. Which was why she sided with Shichiro, for now. After all, he knew that they were stuck here - maybe not for good, but for now. "No - you're right, Shichiro. I also think it'd be best for us to stay here. We could then continue in the morning." After all, the sky was darkening now and the temperature was dropping. Ayako lightly shivered before crossing her arms across her body. What a day it had been... And it didn't look as if it was going to get any better...[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Post by Jamaila Collyns on Sept 29, 2010 15:31:13 GMT -5
Jamaila was grateful for the fact that Ashibo was attempting to cheer her up. In fact, she was grateful for the fact that she had been able to meet Ashibo in the first place. He knew her father, was from the same world as she was, and seemed to be fighting for the same cause - the good of Cocoon. And that was enough for her.
"Thanks, Ashibo. Really. It's just that... well, my father's never been the best at showing how much he cares about anything but his work. So... well, I just assumed that he... didn't love me..." The words themselves were embarrassing for her to say - she hated this weakness of hers. But she was glad that Ashibo was doing his best to make her feel better about herself. And, maybe, when she comes back home, she'd go and talk to her father some. That would make her feel a little more happy.
She frowned as both Shichiro and Ayako revealed how they had arrived here. Hmm, so these 'portals' are everywhere...? That thought disturbed her a bit. Where had they come from...? Was a L'Cie behind it...? Or even a Fal'Cie...? She then shook her head and answered a little too late. "Um, no. I'd also been teleported here, by portal." She vaguely recalled that it was her third time now... Taken to another world by a black warphole...
As Ashibo listed the places he had been to, Jamaila smiled in slight wonder. "Wow... you've been to a lot of places..." Personally, other than Eden, she'd only been to Palumpolum. Her mind then suddenly remembered something. And, oh yeah, there was Bodhum and that other creepy-like mansion....
[/i] But her visits there had not been that... pleasant. Particularly, the latter. After all, meeting some new guys and a woman she recognized was a little better than meeting some sort of specimen (complete with jerk-y guy in a suit) in a dark and secluded place... She then heard a teasing tone in Ashibo's voice. Something that seemed slightly foreign, coming from him. Nevertheless, though, it was welcome. And a nice change from his usual, serious tone. "Hey! It's not my fault the Professor was boring me to sleep that day..." Acting petulant and pouting childishly - something that didn't really get her taken seriously much. Although, it didn't stop her from halting that habit of hers... Then, as he explained the benefits of 'knowing your enemies', she nodded. "Yeah, I agree. And, I'm sure I would have been able to remember the Flans' weaknesses, if my Professor was not always focused on putting his students to sleep." It was a joke, obviously, and Jamaila's grin - following the end of that sentence - only emphasized that fact. "But, you seem to be pretty good at stuff like that. So, how about you become my teacher? I'm sure you'd do a better job than my current Professor..." It was nothing personal, but she did need a better teacher. Especially now that she was on the battlefield. After all, there was nothing worse than underestimating one's enemy - or enemies. As Ashibo attempted to explain the differences in Flan in each world, Jamaila nodded again. "Yeah, that must be it..." Of course, now that they could evolve, did that mean that one type of fiend was stronger than another type of the same fiend? Something she was going to find out, hopefully, if Ashibo agreed to teach her a little. Although, of course, she didn't want to pressurize him with some extra work. As Shichiro and Ayako's home world was revealed, Jamaila couldn't help but compare the similarities in the two cities. For one, they were both cities - possibly thriving with civilization. And, secondly, both Eden and Esthar seemed to be thriving in something else - technology. Then, of course, both cities begin with the letter 'E'...[/i] Obviously, she was getting too caught up in that 'activity' for her own good. Ayako's so-called 'plan' didn't seem as if it was going to work. As Jamaila had witnessed before - when she had landed here, she had checked her phone, in hopes of calling someone. But, alas, that had failed, and - as a result - she had ended up in a battle with Flans with three other people, who were fast on their way to be regarded as Jamaila's friends. Despite the fact that she had only known them for a little while, they sounded better than most of her classmates, who she had known for much longer. "Um, actually-"Ayako's sigh cut off the rest of Jamaila's response. And, from that, she discerned that it had not worked. There was still no signal around here... "Yeah, eheh, I was actually going to tell you about that... There's no reception here..." Which left them no choice, really. They would have to keep walking. To where? Jamaila still didn't know... ~ A Couple of hours later ~ And, we're still here...[/i] The others seated themselves and Jamaila followed suit. The rock behind her was holding most of her weight, which was nice, had it not been for the fact that said rock was pretty uncomfortable. After massaging her back - due to the bump in the rock - Jamaila re-settled herself. Comfortably, this time. Both Shichiro and Ayako's comments didn't bother her much. What bothered her was the fact that they were still here - in Pulse - with, apparently, no other way to get out and a lot of enemies further up. Jamaila pulled a face. Stupid fiends had almost stomped her flat! It was at that moment that she felt depressed. How come she always had to find herself in such sticky situations? Was she simply cursed with bad luck? Or were the gods just playing around, with her as their favorite puppet? She then snapped back to reality once Shichiro had established a course of action. "Yeah, that's true... Well, I guess we could rest here...After all, it doesn't look like we'll be able to leave this place anytime soon..." After that last comment from him, she almost repressed a smile - she doubted he was that unfit. As she willed her eyes to close slowly, her smile eventually faded away. How long were they going to be here for?[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote]

----- Ashibo smiled encouragingly back at Jamaila. He was happy that she had decided to trust him. "You're very welcome. If you had been there, when me and my father had just met your father, then you'd be able to realize that he does love you - he just has his own way of showing it." Since everyone was different, in one way or another, it just made analyzing one's actions that much more confusing. Indeed, he had had his own doubts whilst he had been growing up.
As the others told him that they, too, had been transported here via portal, he nodded in confirmation. "Well, then, I suppose that leaving here by airship is out of the question..." If there was only a portal around here...
He smiled back down at Jamaila. "Well, yes, after joining PSICOM, my knowledge of other places has increased drastically." His eyes then silently praised her before he resumed speaking. "Although, from what Mr. Collyns had told me and my father, you're planning to become a member of the Guardian Corps? Well, then, you'll also be able to travel around." Had it not been for the fact that he was a member of PSICOM, then he may have still been the naive boy he was in his childhood, with no concept of the way that the other towns and cities worked.
At Jamaila's joke, he actually cracked a laugh."Haha, okay. But, you would have to admit, the teacher can't be the only one at fault, now, can he?" Teasing her seemed to be pretty easy for him. Why, though, he didn't know. Nevertheless, her reactions seemed to amuse him, which was the main reason why he felt like teasing her more.
As Jamaila considered his theory, he frowned a little. "But, I'm not entirely confident about that. It's just a theory. You don't have to pay too much attention to it." Maybe, if he was forced to battle a fiend from another world (like the Flans that Ayako had seemed to be in combat with), then his point of view may become more than just hypothetical. Or, better yet, if they met some sort of expert monsters analyst. But, for now, Ashibo decided to forget about it.
Ashibo nodded at both Shichiro and Ayako as they revealed the name of their home-world. Of course, to Ashibo, the name was unfamiliar. "Esthar..." he repeated quietly to himself. As the two described it, it sounded more and more similar to Eden. He was sure that Jamaila was thinking the same thing. Since he had already been to Eden, he had an idea (albeit vague) of what Esthar was going to be like. "The place sounds great. I'd like to go there sometime." Unfortunately, though, traveling by portal wasn't his cup of tea, so to speak. But, maybe when they left Pulse, then both Shichiro and Ayako would be able to take him (and Jamaila, if she was willing) to their home-world. The thought itself sounded nice, and it was this he thought of, as they continued to walk to a destination that was (still) unknown.
- A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER -
As he had expected, they were still in Pulse.
Without those portals around, there seemed to be no way that the group would be able to go back home. To Cocoon or Esthar. After seating himself, Ashibo's gaze moved upwards. He could barely see his home-world from here, but that didn't stop him from missing it immensely. The only things he could derive from his 'visit' here, to Pulse, were that he had made some new friends here, and that the Pulsian fiends were a threat to be reckoned with.
Well, the large ones, especially.
With the others planning on resting here now, Ashibo eventually gave in to that plan. Where else could they go...? "Yes, I suppose so... We'll rest and, hopefully, be able to find our way back home, once we've got our stamina back." As the group were slightly tired, that seemed the best course of action. For now. And, with that, Ashibo seated himself more comfortably, so that he'd be able to rest more easily.
Admittedly, the conditions here were not too good...

----- "I know. Unfortunate, isn't it?"
Shichiro sighed again (something that was out of character for him) before speaking. "Yeah, it sucks. It seems we just have all the luck..." Sarcasm was also something he usually used as a sort of last resort.
With his idea of resting here now out in the open, he attempted to convince the others why it was a good idea to stay here right now. With an emphasis on Jamaila, the group looked like they wanted to get out of this place fast. "Hey, don't make that face, Jamaila. This is the best idea right now. There's no point in us walking around this wasteland with little to no idea how to actually get out of here..." Apart from the portals that had, apparently, taken the others here and an airship that didn't look as if it was going to miraculously land on these plains, there was no other way for them to leave. So, why not rest and save up the stamina for a more useful job? Like fighting some more fiends?
Although it was best for them to avoid the big monsters. Hyne knew that Shichiro didn't want to experience that particular moment again...
With the others now in agreement, Shichiro repressed a yawn before adjusting his seating position. "Well, then, it's settled. We'll sleep now and find another route to follow in the morning." Hopefully, things would begin to pick up tomorrow.
But, then again, hope wasn't doing much for them now, was it?
With his eyes slowly succumbing to the exhaustion that was taking over his entire body, Shichiro attempted to keep himself as warm as he possibly could before falling into the most uncomfortable slumber he had ever had (and will ever have, possibly).

"Yeah, it sucks. It seems we just have all the luck..."
[/i] Ayako's lips moved upwards, forming a sort of cynical half-smile. Shichiro wasn't acting like he usually did, and it was for this reason that she knew that there was not much hope in this situation. As something of a 'wild card', Shichiro was usually the one that made Ayako feel better about things that she couldn't control. 'There was nothing we could do[/i], he would usually say. 'But, now, we have to chance to shape our future. So, let's change it.'[/i] Masaru was also a big contributor in Ayako's positivity. As a man who knew how to control the power of words, he was a good ally to have - and was also responsible for causing many people to rethink their actions, particularly if they had been taking part in evil and morally questionable things. Of course, he couldn't save everyone from their inner evil, but it didn't stop him from trying. With her thoughts on Masaru, Ayako just felt even more upset. Although, she hid this emotion from making its way onto her face. She hated it when others read her so easily. But, her recent thoughts of Masaru - and his way of thinking - spurred her own mind in more positive thoughts. 'No, we'll be able to get out of here. One way or another. Maybe the way out's not right here, in front of us, but... we will get out. We have to get out...'[/i] Needless to say, it was still a little difficult for her to get the hang of. "Well, then, it's settled. We'll sleep now and find another route to follow in the morning."[/i] She nodded - his words were her cue to get some rest. And it was then that she realized just how exhausted she was. Stifling a yawn from escaping her lips, she stretched before placing her body in the most comfortable position she could and let her eyes shut, and her mind drift away into thoughts of home and a better tomorrow. She wasn't all that comfortable, yet her eyes were begging to close. With the rest of the group now agreed on resting this one out, she was planning on complying. But - for now - she decided to absorb the sight with her eyes.
It was a nice-looking place, that was for sure. And even without people roaming freely here, the solitude didn't detract from the beauty of the scenery in Pulse. It was just sad that the only way for the world to solve its problems with Cocoon was by resorting to war...
Jamaila then frowned to herself. From (most of) the inhabitants of Cocoon's point of view, it was deserved.
Her body was then hit with a slight breeze; nothing too freezing, but it caused her to wrap her arms around herself, nonetheless. With one last glance at the darkening sky, she sighed. "Okay. Well, goodnight, then..." Her mind - as well as the rest of her body - was tired, and it was for this reason she couldn't think of much else to say... Save for the fact that they might be able to find a way back home tomorrow, there wasn't anything else that she wanted to think about. The fact that she was still here, in Pulse, didn't comfort her. At all.
She just hoped that her current 'dream'... came true. That there was a way for the group to leave this place. After all, she wasn't ready to permanently settle in another world save from her own.
Particularly, not this one... Despite how nice the scenery was, the fiends and solidarity didn't make Pulse a particularly appealing place to migrate in. Well, not at this time and age, anyway. Once upon a time, it might have been a nice place, but not now. Whilst beautiful in appearance, this world was nothing to her home in Cocoon.
And it was of Eden she thought of as she slowly fell into a deep slumber.
