Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie lay on the dock of Balamb at the harbor, her fingers dipped into the ocean, which was warm, as it always was during the day. She played with the water, waving her hand through it, as well as looking at her reflection. Oh, it was so boring! Where was Irvine or Zell when you needed them? Squally was like her brother, but he was dealing with so much right now, she knew she shouldn’t bug him. Irvine, Zell and Quistis were on a mission, and Rinoa was…come to think of it, she didn’t know where her good friend was. Her feet were up in the air, as her fingers dangled in the water. Rinoa, she was so beautiful, Selphie wished she could be that pretty, maybe then she could get Irvine’s attention. She wrinkled her nose and yawned, wishing she had someone here to talk to, or do something fun with.
Squall had given her the day off…well actually she had demanded it. There was nothing major going on in Garden, besides; he could always call if something did happen. So here she was…bored out of her mind, wanting to do something or at least talk to someone that didn’t go “Yes, hmmm, no or sure.” Like Squall did all the time. She loved the guy like a brother, but she really needed Irvine to do something fun with, or Rinoa, even Zell would be good. Just…someone.
She giggled when little fish nibbled on her fingers. Balamb was famous for its fish, the Balamb fish, which drew so many fishermen to the island. What she really wanted to do was go swimming…ugh to bad I don’t have my swimsuit. She knew Irvine, Quistis and Zell were on a mission. She wished she could have gone along, but hadn’t been able to, since she knew Squall probably wanted someone he could trust around Garden. It was just so boring without her friends, or having them be busy, and nothing with fighting going on, except of course, for those creatures that had appeared the other day. She still didn’t know exactly what they were, or even if they were from her world. She was scanning them to see, but so far she hadn’t gotten anything.
She really was puzzled about that entire situation. Was there more to come? Had they seen the last of the creatures? That last time she had almost gotten eaten by that stupid big tiger looking beast. If Squall hadn’t been there she might have gotten eaten…stupid pussy. She was still mad about that, talk about being dinner. She did definitely not want to be that close to being eaten ever again, she still had the marks from when the claws had scraped her arm. She was so enthralled with the fish, the sunlight and the water that she didn’t hear the gentle steps up behind her…"Oh if only something exciting would happen!"

Moving up behind the blonde haired female, Rinoa kept her hands firmly behind her back as she leaned forwards so that her reflection might appear beside that of her friend. It seemed that Selphie had been in her own world, which wasn't too surprising when you really thought about it. Considering how the girl usually acted. But things seemed more mellowed around here, almost to the point where many people just seemed to be laying about. Having just returned from her own little stroll around the garden, it was nice to things so settled. Squall definitely had everything under control, just as she would have guessed. Yet she wasn't surprised by this either, it simply just part of his nature to have order in things. Though slowly, she was working on having him act less uptight. Course, she knew patient in that undertaking was required. But hearing Selphie ask for something to happen, that just seem to beg for trouble. After all they had been through, you'd think she'd be somewhat content with the quiet. But maybe that was because she wasn't military trained. So the desire to be in action wasn't very strong within her. Though she wouldn't lie and say that she never got the urge for adventure. Rinoa just considered herself to be less intent on finding it on every breaking moment. So as her reflection appeared above Selphie, the raven haired female smiled as she shook her head. " You sure you want to ask for that? Because with our luck, it's likely to happen you know?"

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie’s eyes opened wide as a voice spoke out immediately after she talked to herself. Head whipped around as she recognized it. The black haired girl she had just been thinking about was walking towards her. Rinoa was a good friend, and she found that she had a ton of respect for her plight to get Squall to loosen up. “Rinoa! How’d you find me?” She squealed out happily, pushing up from the dock and making her way over to Rinoa. Hugging her, she then stepped back and realized exactly what she had said.
She laughed at that then, “Ok you have a point, the last time I told that to Squall a bunch of monsters attacked Garden…still, it was better then just sitting around with nothing to do. Its so boring…” She shrugged, “But I guess, Squall wasn’t all that happy about that whole situation, so maybe I shouldn’t wish for it?” She went back to the end of the dock and plopped down on her stomach again. “I’m so bored I’ve resorted to looking at fish…” She said with a slight frown, “But I suppose I should be happy Ultimecia isn’t trying to kill us?”
She swooshed her hand through the water and waited for a response on that. At least now she had someone to talk to! That was always a plus. Having a friend here made it less boring for sure. “Besides, at least it’s not boring since you came.” She gave her a smile and looked at the water, extremely tempted to go grab some swimsuits and go for a swim. Rinoa would probably go for the idea; maybe in a little bit she would ask Rinoa if she wanted to. The heat wasn’t very fun; in fact, she could go for an ice cream cone too.
She thought back to the time where they had all been under contract to Rinoa. Squall had told her technically they were still under contract since Timber wasn’t free from Galbadia…she should ask her about it since they were both here. She had forgotten that Timber wasn’t free yet, she had always just thought that since Ultimecia was gone that everything was good again. But apparently not? It must be one of those things that were just…never going to happen.

Rinoa looked towards Selphie with a smile as she sat down next to her outstretched body. Her last comment seemed pretty funny when she thought about it. Had things really been that eventful since her arrival? She always thought the life of a mercenary was full of adventure and excitement. If not, then what did they do for the majority of the time? While she had a few ideas, she decided not to ask, it was probably something she didn't want to know the full details on. Looking into the distance, Rinoa raised her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. The girl did have a point though. There were no major disaster happening, except for what was left from the very beginning. Yet even she wasn't sure what to do at this point. With nothing to work with on intelligence within Galbadia, she couldn't come up with any plan of action. "Yup...All that's left is what I came here for at the start. But with the president dead and Galbadia in silence, I don't know what move to make next. I'm not even sure if I should even try....It would be like starting a riot right after a hurricane..."Would Timber even want to be liberated anymore? They would have hard time trying to resettle themselves alone, and it seemed that the army was attempting to rebuild everything that had been damaged within their territory. If she were to try and start a more physical assault, there was no telling what would happen. "So I guess...I'm pretty much out of ideas on what to do too.."

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie grinned up at Rinoa from where she was once again lying on her stomach. She watched out for the claw wound on her left arm and shoulder. She had gone to the doctor to get it fixed up after the weird tiger beast had pinned her down and scraped her up. She had just gotten mad enough to get herself out of the bind when Squall had come to her rescue and killed it. She had been thankful, but then he had been all ‘you should go inside and be careful.’ Of course she knew that was his way of telling her he was worried for her, but still, she wouldn’t have missed the excitement for anything.
Selphie rested her chin on her hands and contemplated what Squall had told her along with what Rinoa had just told her. She decided to ask, what other way was there for figuring out if he was telling the truth or not? Here goes. she thought to herself as she bit her lip and then opened her mouth to ask the question that had been nagging on her mind since she had talked to Squall about it. “Rinoa?” She hesitated and thought about what exactly she should say. Nothing sounded good so she finally just blurted it out. “Ok so I was talking to Squall and he said something about our mission contract with you and the Timber owls wasn’t done yet.”
She looked up at her, “Is that true? I mean, Timber isn’t exactly liberated, but with Galbadia all scattered, and Ultimecia not in control, is there anything yet to do?” Selphie hated to leave a job undone, and the way things were going, she would like to go on a mission again. It would beat twiddling her thumbs and waiting for something interesting to happen.”
She brightened up when she remembered the idea she had come up with. “You know what would be great! I think we need to go on vacation! You know, all of us in the ‘gang.’ I think it would be great fun but Squall didn’t seem all that enthusiastic when I mentioned it to him…still, what do you think?”

Rinoa heard the question and blinked as she tilted her head to the side. Officially, SeeD was still under contract to help her liberate Timber from Galbadian occupation. But she hadn't really thought about having them actually keep the agreement, especially after all that had happened. In truth, she figured that she had caused her new friends enough trouble and to make them keep an arrangement like that seemed selfish. "Well...Technically yes...But after everything that happened...I don't want to have to force you guys to do that. There isn't even anything we can do right now with the nation the way that it is. So keeping SeeD under such a contract isn't really necessary when there isn't a solid plan behind it.."It was true. The Rebel Princess had no idea what to do with everything as it was now. So having a contract with them was pointless without a plan. Though Rinoa hadn't been in a hurry to actually say anything about it or even think about it. Maybe that was because she was afraid that it was the only thing really tying them together. In fact, sometimes even she wondered what Squall would do if there were no contract. Would they simply part ways? Pushing that thought to the side, she continued to listen to Selphie and giggled lightly at her idea of going on vacation. It sounded great to her. In fact, it might help to have some fun rather than force themselves to get back to work. Perhaps that was why she couldn't think of anything, because she hadn't fully rested from everything that had previously passed. Rinoa was still trying to learn just how to control her own abilities. "I think it sounds like a great idea. I think I could convince Squall to go along with it too. With a little prodding...But where would we go?"

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie nodded, for once, thoughtful instead of bouncing off the walls with energy. The explanation Rinoa gave her was adequate; in fact, it made a whole lot of sense. She was still nodding, biting her lip in thought. “That’s actually makes a lot of sense. I guess I had always thought that since Galbadia was in chaos and Ultimecia was destroyed there was nothing left, but I guess I forgot about Timber.” She smiled up at Rinoa then, “But we wouldn’t be doing it because of a contract now if we were to complete the mission. We’d be doing it because you’re one of us and a good friend to each of us.” Selphie was speaking the truth, she knew all of them, she. Irviine, Zell, Quistis and especially Squall viewed Rinoa as someone close to them. Although of course Squall was closer to her then just friends. She had seen that much from seeing them on the balcony.
Of course that got her thinking about Irvine again. She wished he was here now instead of running all over the world on some mission that she hadn’t been able to go on. Maybe when he came back she would have the guts to tell him she liked him…more then just friends. The part that she didn’t like was that he flirted with just about every girl that came around. That she didn’t like, but of course she couldn’t just change that, or the fact that she liked him. She huffed a bit at that.
But she brightened considerably when Rinoa went for her idea. She bounced up until she was on her knees and raised her small fists in the air in happiness. She was so glad someone was going for her idea, wouldn’t it be the life? Maybe going to some beach and swimming, building sand castles and playing volleyball. Maybe riding some chocobos and just relaxing. “I’m so glad you like the idea! And most definitely, even if we have to pry Squall’s fingers off the gunblade and drag him along screaming and kicking!” Somehow she couldn’t believe Squall would kick and scream, but the image got in her head and she burst out laughing. The shaking in her shoulders made her arm hurt, but she ignored it picturing Squall throwing a hissy temper tantrum.
“Hmmm…where to go…maybe we can go to fisherman’s horizon, aren’t there some beaches there we could crash at and swim around. I love beaches! Somewhere with no chance of work cropping up, we could have Xu run things while we’re gone.” She thought about Irvine and sighed a bit, “Hey Rinoa…what do you do to catch someone’s eye when they don’t know you exist?” Poor Selphie, always oblivious had no idea that Irvine actually liked her as it was.

It was a relief to hear Selphie say that they were all friends, possibly more than even she realized. Rinoa knew that they would have no trouble helping her, but it just didn't seem right. But the next question that flew her way caused her to pause all other thoughts from coming to attention. How did she always get people to notice her without trying? Perhaps the more important question was who it was that Selphie was seeking attention from? Remaining seated on the ground, Rinoa smiled as she looked towards her pigtailed friend. "Well it depends on the person...."Did this mean that Selphie had a crush on someone? Who could it possibly be? While Rinoa had some guesses, she kept them to herself. After all, it just didn't seem like the right time to tease her friend. Not yet anyway. "Have you tried subtly hinting your interest in them? You know...gestures and glances?"

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie didn't have any idea that her words of friendship meant that much to Rinoa. Actually she was completely oblivious to any affect it had on her, content just to lay there on her stomach and think about the past. She gave a happy sigh as she thought about her friends. Selphie put much account to friendship, maybe more then she probably should. Still, her friends meant more to her then anything else, nobody was mean to her friends and got away with it, she would grab her nunchaku and beat them up if they trashed talked them. Like Seifer...he had made her so mad by calling Zell Chicken-wuss. Although his reaction could be funny, Selphie got just as mad as he did when Seifer called him that.
On to the talking about guys. She really didn't know what she should do about Irvine, almost at a dead end, and Rinoa had gotten to Squall to notice her, and he was WAY more of a challenge then Irvine right? So why was she failing so badly at this? She wished he could come back from his mission so she could do something. She was getting depressed just thinking about it, but now that she had it out Rinoa could help? She hoped so, obviously she needed something else. So she just lay there and hoped Rinoa would help. Should she admit who she liked? She hadn't admitted it even to herself except recently. But if Rinoa knew...would she just go tell Irvine about it? Selphie freaked out a little bit inside at that, but then she tried to calm herself down, Rinoa wouldn't just run up to him blabbing about it, she was a good friend, she would never do that.
So she felt a little bit better. “Well...its...” She sighed and sat up so that she was eye level with Rinoa. “Kinda, I mean, well, I'm not sure. Its...I like...well, he's a guy thats in Garden.” The blush that was working its way up her neck and to her cheeks wasn't helping her either. She fought it, but it was there. Did anyone know? She had thought Rinoa might, but then again, maybe not, Rinoa had been busy lately with her new powers and just trying to get that under control. She decided she was being a horrible friend by not asking her about that more often. So she decided to do it now.
“Hey Rinoa, how are you feeling, ya know, with you're new powers and everything?” She thought back to the time they were going to put Rinoa away so she couldn't cause any 'harm' to people. Yeah right...harm?! Rinoa was the sweetest person ever. Good thing Squall had busted her out of there on time, because they had been outraged when they had learned about it. They stuck up for one of their own! And Rinoa was one of them, even if she wasn't a SeeD. Words: 600 Muse: gooood Notes: none

Rinoa listened intensely to Selphie, though what she heard wasn't exactly helpful in coming up with a proper solution to her problem. But then, she really didn't get too much time to comment at all. Just before the young female could question the statement, the blonde shifted the focus of the conversation to talk about something else. This had been enough to cause a smirk to appear over the raven haired female face, shaking her head slowly as she suppressed her laughter. "I don't know....I haven't really used them since....All that has happened. At least, not much. Kinda afraid of creating a giant tornado and destroying something..."
It was true. Rinoa was well aware that her magic was incredible and devastating if out of control. They acted purely at random and she could easily fall into a trance that left her casting spells on simple instinct and nothing else. Once she started in her angelic form, she didn't seem to stop in till the target or herself were out of the picture. So practicing was hard...and even impossible. Rinoa trusted her own natural abilities to magic, though she did admit that having that much power was pretty cool. Moving herself so that she was now sitting on her knees, Rinoa smiled as while tilting her head to the side and closing her eyes. "But lets stay focused on your problem. Mine is minor compared to boy problems. So he's a mercenary right? Lets see...."Cupping her hand under her chin, the girl wrapped one arm over her chest as a thoughtful look came over her. There were many ways to approach this and she planned to help Selphie as best as she could. The only question was how to do it? "Have you thought about going on a mission together?"

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie put her chin in her hands and sighed a bit as she wondered what Rinoa would tell her to do. She should just come right out and say it was Irvine that she wanted to like her, but she felt just a bit to shy to tell her, an emotion so very unknown to Selphie. All she knew was that she blushed every time she thought about him like that. But the change of conversation helped a bit, took her mind off it for a second as Rinoa told her about the challenges of being a sorceress. “I can only imagine, I would probably blow someones head off if I had those kind of powers when I went to hug them.” She could only laugh at the idea, “That would be bad, lets just be glad you got them instead of me. At least you have a better chance at not killing anyone on accident then I would have.”
But then Rinoa had to go and talk about the subject she had brought up on a whim. She shouldn't have said anything about it, because she just knew that before long Rinoa was going to have her spilling the entire story and her guts along with it, which wouldn't be good since so far she was pretty sure no one knew about it. Hers was minor compared to Selphie's? “No I think you have it backwards, I think you're problem is more important and we should talk about that and completely forget that I brought the subject up, maybe we could pretend I was joking about it?”
Nope. The almost pitiful expression on Selphie's face only intensified as Rinoa seemed to be thinking about the members of SeeD. Knowing Rinoa it was either she guessed it or Selphie told her. Maybe she could hold out as long as she possibly could and see how long it took for her to guess. Either way, telling her or not, she would find out eventually, there were only so many SeeD. She suggested going on a mission together. “I've already been on a mission with him.” She gulped then, that was a huge hint, although Rinoa didn't know all of the men she had gone on missions with right? So she might be able to hold off telling for a bit longer. Either way she felt the hopelessness of the situation, but then again, Rinoa was good at this sort of thing. So maybe she could help.

Rinoa smiled as she really didn't think her powers were anything to be majorly worried about. As long as she didn't get possessed or go power crazy, she was perfectly fine. Since both situations seemed unlikely at the current moment, the young woman wasn't too concerned. In fact, keeping her mind off of them was one of the reasons why it didn't bug her so much. If it wasn't on her mind, she had nothing to worry about right? "You sure? I mean...you look like you're pretty tied up by this...."Rinoa continued to remain in her current position, staring at the other teen with a blank expression as she could see that she wasn't her full cheerful self. Whoever this guy was, he must be pretty important to her. But there were only so many members within SeeD, which could be the one that had Selphie so buggy? Upon hearing that they had gone on a mission together, it narrowed down the search somewhat. After all, she wasn't sure about all the people that the blonde had traveled with, but she did have a good idea of a few. It was at that moment where it hit her, causing her to open her eyes wide as she turned her gaze towards the water and laughed lightly. Of course, how did it take her so long to realize it? No wonder she was so unsure of what to do, with a guy like Irvine, it was hard to keep his attention focused on one thing. Rinoa actually thought he could give Zell a run for his money when it came to being oblivious at times. "So then have you tried just talking to him?"

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” Selphie shook her head, “Well I'm sure...I mean, its not like I don't have forever to be thinking about this!” But that didn't seem to stop Rinoa from continuing on with the subject. She couldn't blame her, she couldn't let any of her friends stop talking about something when they were broken up about it. It made her feel happy that Rinoa cared enough about her to continue talking to her about it, maybe she could help her. She hoped so, if they had to talk about it, she hoped that Rinoa could come up with some way to help her.
She shifted her eyes from Rinoa to the water and back again. She continued to think about the tall guy that was always invading her thoughts. He was so tall, towering over her 5.1, but she liked him, for some reason unknown. It was like Rinoa picking Squall to like, his lone wolf attitude had been annoying at times, but she had saw something in him, and they were so good together, so maybe she couldn't choose who she liked, it just happened.
Suddenly Rinoa laughed. The look on Selphie's face was quite priceless actually, her deepest secret was revealed. She bit her lip and looked at Rinoa, knowing that she knew. So she sighed a bit and dipped her hand into the water, skimming it once and blinking a few times. “You know don't you?” She looked up at her and wrinkled her nose, “I uh...why did I have to like someone like Irvine?!” She huffed a bit and crossed her arms, “He's such a...” She struggled for a word before bursting out with the most obvious reason ever, “MAN!” The look on her face was that of anger toward the male race. "Im sorry....Listen, you can't pick who you fall for Selphie. You shouldn't feel so bad about it. Irivine isn't all that bad...all the time.."Rinoa smiled as she did her best to try and comfort her friend, even though she knew it might be a serious stretch on her part. After all, the man in question was known to be a complete flirt. He had even made passes at her a few times. But there were also some quailties about Irivine that were redeemable. It was likely these qualities that Selphie fell for. But the question now was how to confront him with this revelation. "Just tell him how you feel and he might come around...maybe..."(sorry for the short post)

Adorkable Cutie ”Super-Duper-Mega-Bummer!!” She shrugged, “I know I can't choose, but...hes such a flirt.” Yeah, that was the reason it boiled down to that she had a problem with liking Irvine. It just...he just...she had always had this guy in mind that would always be there for her, like only her, but Irvine...he didn't really fit that description. Even if he did notice her, he would go after any other girl that walked by and gave him a smile. It was all messed up, she did need serious help.
She thought back to the time at the Garden that Irvine admitted that he knew them and had called her sefie. Was that the moment she had grown close to him? She wasn't sure, or was it that time he had come to cheer her up after her old Garden had been destroyed? Her friends had all been killed, but he had come and tried to make her happy. Come to think of it, that might be the moment she had fallen for him. Just knowing he could be that sweet had done it.
She felt a little bit of hope when Rinoa said to just tell him. She was good at blurting things out. The happiness was back on her face. Could that really work? Glancing up at Rinoa, she clasped her hands together. “You really think that might work?” That would lay to rest all her worries, which had to do with Irvine right now. There wasn't any other excitement going on that was for sure. She did really miss the boys. Irvine and Zell were on a mission with Quistis, and she missed having them around to talk to. Besides, they were a lot of fun, with Zell zooming around on his T-board. When he came back she should really get him to teach her. Most thought Zell was just crazy, but she loved him like her own brother. Besides, just thinking about how he had protected her and Quistis from that prison guard while they were in that prison made her happy he had been the one in the cell with them. And Irvine...well it was obvious why she missed having Irvine at Garden.
Suddenly she noticed something was missing about Rinoa. “Hey! Where's Angelo?” She asked suddenly. Sefie loved Rinoa's dog, she had always wanted a dog growing up, but had never got one. Besides, it was odd to see Rinoa without Angelo, he was always with her. She glanced around and looked at the water once more. She was tempted to swim, it was so warm, and the water looked so inviting!
