Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Things were going fairly well for surgery…if that’s the way you wanted to put it. In more simpler terms, Josh was stable the entire time and completely knocked out. While doctors were cleaning up from the surgery, Josh was wheeled back into the room he started out in for recovery, he was still out like a light but that was expected, they had put a lot of morphine and what not into him before surgery, more than expected, so he was pretty wiped out. As he laid in there the doctors were doing their thing and sending that nurse back in to make sure he wasn’t awake or anything…which he wasn’t so for now he could be left alone. One doctor came up to Ebony, knowing she was his girlfriend obviously and smiled at her telling her she could go into the room and wait for Josh to wake up If she wanted.
Josh didn’t start waking up for another hour after being in surgery, his mind was clouded and he was groggy from the medicine and what not used, but he felt a relief that there was no more lead puncturing into his chest…it was a big problem they avoided by having surgery fairly quickly after the incident. He opened his eyes and blinked for a few seconds, everything was so blurry and he had to try and remember what was going on, what had happened, and suddenly it all hit him. He had been shot…and just came out of surgery…right. Lovely. He closed his eyes again and breathed heavily, a little pain from them cutting into his chest area, but no major discomfort.
A few moments later the nurse rushed in…all bubbly and what not. This was going to get so annoying so fast. Josh pretended to be asleep again but it didn’t work, she nudged him awake. “Come on Sleepy head…you gotta wake up so I can give you more pain relievers…” she chimed happily and way to oblivious to realize that she was not wanted anywhere near Josh…hell if Josh had the strength or the will power to tell her to buzz off, he would have already, but then again he was still out of it and you couldn’t blame him for that…though if you wanted to make an argument that this was his fault…there might actually be a case there. He just let his eyes flick open and roll a bit as she was already getting on his nerves. “Ebony…” he said quietly, the girl looked at him with a blank stare. “What…?” Josh narrowed his eyes and spoke louder this time. “Ebony….My girlfriend…where is she?” he asked a bit more firmly and louder. “Oh…her….she’s around here someplace.” The girl mumbled losing a bit of her spark, which it what Josh was going for…she needed to be less…annoying.Words: 574 Muse: Meh, okay. Black Researcher Those orphans gave me the name Ebony. The citizens of Cocoon gave me the name Blackwell. Now you'll see why. As the surgery went on, Ebony was able to get her nap in, this time not being interrupted by an annoying nurse that had it out for her. The hours passed by quickly, and in no time she was awake once again, just in enough time for a doctor to come out and tell her that she could come in and see him. But, she figured that he would still be asleep for a good chunck of time, so she hurried back to her room, and grabbed the books that she had placed next to her door and earlier, and power-walked back to the hospital wing. If she was going to be watching out for Josh, she needed something to do, right?
So, once she got back she saw that Josh was still asleep. She jsut took her chair from earlier, and sat down, continuing from where she had left off earlier. The nurse returned a couple of times to check up on Josh, and Ebony only ignored her for the time being. She was sure she wouldn't do anything too annoying while Josh was asleep, since that was what ninety percent of her focus would be on. The rest would be on her. And she was ready for it.
After some more time passed, Ebony, unfortunately, had to leave to take care of some private business of hers. So she placed her book down next to her chair, along with the pile, and left the hospital, searching silently for what she needed. Once she was done, she quickly walked back to the hospital, but she could hear talking as soon as she got to the door.
“Ebony…”
So Josh was awake. Well, that was good. But, it also meant...
“What…?”
...the nurse. And she was playing stupid. Acting as if Ebony wasn't even there the whole time. She just left for the bathroom, for Fal'Cie's sake!
“Ebony…My girlfriend…where is she?”
“Oh…her….she’s around here someplace.”
Ebony couldn't take much more. Even the girl's voice was starting to get to her. She opened the door, and closed it silently. She quickly walked forward, until she was behind the nurse before speaking.
"I leave to go to the bathroom for five minutes and you make it seem like I've been gone for an eternity. I'm not flattered."
And with that, Ebony sat down in her chair, and grabbed for her book once again, before looking back at Josh.
"Hey, how do you feel?"
She knew that Josh was still tired, but at least he was awake, and that was enough for her. Just knowing that surgery was a success made her just a little bit more happy inside, though she knew she would have to deal with Miss Annoyance for a while. But, if she could deal with PSICOM all her life, and plenty of other snobs, she could hopefully deal with this girl...Hopefully. Words: 603 Muse: Good Notes: Nothing, really.

Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Josh was starting to get irritated really fast with this girl. If he wasn’t so noble and chivalric, he would’ve told her to beat it a LONG time ago. But that was the type of guy he was, too nice for his own good towards women. That’s how his father raised him, and that’s how he would raise his kids…if he ever had any. Josh just sunk back into his medical bed and pillow as his tolerance level was starting to decrease by the second. He waited in silence for something, anything to draw this girl away…and finally his savior entered the room and his eyes lit up, his expression still a bit blank and annoyed, but still, he was happy even with all the groggy meds being pumped into his veins right now.
The nurse just pursed her lips as Ebony came back in, being all…Ebony. “Well sorry…” she mumbled finishing up making sure Josh was set for awhile and leaving the room with an attitude. Josh sighed heavily as the door shut behind the nurse and he just sulked into a whirlpool of misery. “She’s been assigned to take care of me…If I don’t shoot her, I might just shoot myself in the face.” He said still annoyed with the girl, but not wanting to wallow on those dreadful thoughts of what was yet to come, Ebony asked how he was feeling…and he huffed in a breath, almost to test to see if he was okay or not.
“I feel okay…numb you know?” Josh said relaxing back into his pillow and closing his eyes with a yawn. He was still pretty worn out, but that was expected, battle and surgery took a lot out of you. “But I guess that’s alright…so long as I’m not thriving in pain…I’m happy.” He said with a small grin curling on his lips as he opened his sharp green eyes once again to look over at Ebony. “How long did that take? Just curious.” He asked shrugging his shoulders a bit, but not wanting to move, just knowing how much it hurt before surgery, even though he was practically numb…it was just an instinct. He didn’t want to hurt anymore so he just laid still and sighed again. He always had such rotten luck, not as bad as some people though he would admit…butt still, ending up in this hospital wing was starting to get really old.
Josh grinned a bit, wanting to try and lighten this silent, annoyed, and almost depressing mood. “So…what do you say once I’m able to walk around and stuff, we get a bad, and see how much stuffing comes out of that nurse?” He said with a mischievous smile on his face. The smile canceled out the fact that he was completely serious…if it was up to him, he’d get that bat in a flash and be ready to knock anyone out at this point in time. “How are you?” He asked curiously as it seemed that it had been a few hours since he was last awake and saw her, did she get enough sleep lately? Did she eat? He hoped she wasn’t just sitting out there waiting for him the whole time. “So what did you do while I was…away?” he said, putting it in different terms to make it seem less…horrible.Words: 674 Muse: Pretty Good Tagged: Ebony Blackwell :3 Notes: None

Black Researcher Those orphans gave me the name Ebony. The citizens of Cocoon gave me the name Blackwell. Now you'll see why. Ebony stared down the nurse as she just pursed her lips, and tried to look tough. Tried, being the key word. This girl couldn't look tough if she wanted to. But Ebony was a different story. She had to be tough from day one. And she had lived up to it. And there was no way Ebony was going to back done against a nurse.
“Well sorry…”
Ebony watched as the nurse left the room, and mentally smiled at herself. She sat down, with a triumphant grin on her face, and grabbed her book, listening in on what Josh was saying.
“She’s been assigned to take care of me…If I don’t shoot her, I might just shoot myself in the face.”
Oh, so he did know. Well, that was good in a way. Now she wouldn't have to explain any bad news to him...but she would proably have to tell him what came after that part. The whole thing about getting together and marrying him. Ebony couldn't help but imagine one or two scenarios, and the result wasn't pretty. But, she held her shudders, and just replied.
"Don't. Because if you do, I will find some way to bring you back, and make you feel real pain."
Sorta like her cliff threat, but with a different motive behind it. Because this time, she actually cared for they guy, instead of the reputation she acquired just going down into the toilet.
“I feel okay…numb you know? But I guess that’s alright…so long as I’m not thriving in pain…I’m happy.”
And she was happy too. Because if he was thriving in pain, she wasn't sure on what she would be able to do. She could only help heal simple scratches, and she didn't know any white magic, since the Black Arts made it so that she couldn't learn them. Sometimes, she hated having some of the most powerful magic because of the cons that it produced at the same time. But it was too late now. She couldn't turn back.
“How long did that take? Just curious.”
"...I don't really know...I took a little nap while you were in surgery..."
Ebony couldn't help but turn her head away, and look off to the side. She was shown to be diligent and know what was going on, and here she was taking a nap while the most important person in her life was taking a nap. Smooth...
“So…what do you say once I’m able to walk around and stuff, we get a bat, and see how much stuffing comes out of that nurse?”
A bat? Oh, Ebony would need more for a bat. She would need a frickin' mace to take her frustation out on that nurse. But she would certainly help Josh in his endeavor, and maybe even show her what she could really do besides your "normal" magic. Just that made Ebony grin with delight.
"How are you?”
How was she? Perfectly fine. Nothing was really wrong with her. Sure, she just about had a heart attack a few hours ago when she heard the news of him being shot, but other than that she was good.
"Fine. Better than you at the moment, but fine."
What else did he want to say? That she was about to ready to smack the nurse, and embrace him she was so happy that he was still alive...okay, well those two were true, but she was too prideful to admit it.
“So what did you do while I was…away?”
"...Slept."
Oh, yeah. Real nice way to wait for your boyfriend who was in crtitcal condition only hours ago. But, she couldn't help it. She had to have complete faith in the doctors here. And the only way not for her to worry was to sleep. It allowed her to enter her subconscious without having horrible thoughts buzzing around in her head. And it allowed to stay calm, instead of blowing everything up in sight, which was just another way for her to blow off some steam. And it helped. Besides, there wasn't some big grand courtyard with a rotting mansion to practice in. She had to make do with what she had now.
"But...I'm really glad that you're okay, Josh...really." Words: 851! Muse: Awesome Notes: None

Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. How annoying! Josh was already irritated to his limit with this nurse girl. Could she not take a hint? Josh would have to leave a GIANT hint next time and maybe her dimwitted head would get it. Not likely though. But a guy could hope right? He chuckled a bit as he looked over at Ebony when she said she would make him feel real pain. All his mind went to was that day she threatened to throw him off a cliff. “Well I hate to disappoint you, there aren’t any cliffs nearby so you’re probably gonna have think of a new threat…though you throwing me off a cliff will probably be something I never let you forget.” He said with a grin, starting to come out of his groggy state.
So she took a nap? Well good for her. He didn’t think anything bad of it. Ebony probably needed some sleep, Josh knew he still wanted sleep and being knocked out my medicine doesn’t count as sleep. He wanted to be able to lay in bed and just sleep for an entire day without having to go out and break something or get shot. Now that he had a few days ahead of relaxation…perhaps he might catch himself up on sleep? Maybe, it would take a lot of hours to get back the ones he lost. “Well that’s nice.” He simply said in a pleasant tone before going off on how he wanted to make a piñata out of the nurse and smash her to pieces sometimes…it may not have been gentlemen like to think like that, hurting a girl or anything, but it was just one of those days…where you didn’t want to put up with anything.
“Are you hungry?” Josh asked moving his hand onto his chest as he continued to breathe easily, no need to strain himself. He just smiled a bit and tried to keep relaxed for the time being before that girl came back in here and started to drool over him again. “If you’re hungry I’m sure we can get something…I wonder if the doc’s are gonna let me go back to my room and stuff…it would be nice to sleep without having to listen to the lovely sound of beeping in the background.” He said sarcastically as he sulked back into his pillow and stared at the ceiling before Ebony spoke again, he knew she was glad he was okay. And he just smiled to himself as he closed his eyes and placed his arm back at his side. “I know…” he said before a heavy sigh escaped his lips, it hurt his chest sure, but he needed to breathe. “I’ll try not to scare you like that again…I promise…I’ll always be here for you.” Words: 560 Muse: Great! Black Researcher Those orphans gave me the name Ebony. The citizens of Cocoon gave me the name Blackwell. Now you'll see why. “Well I hate to disappoint you, there aren’t any cliffs nearby so you’re probably gonna have think of a new threat…though you throwing me off a cliff will probably be something I never let you forget.”
He still remembered that? Back then, she was just annoyed and angry at the guy for seenig her doing something she wished to be kept a secret. Times were different now. For both of them. But, she figured if he still remembered now, there was no use in trying to make the guy forget it now. If he wished to rememeber a simple threat, then so be it. So, she just sighed and leaned back in her chair.
"I think the only person I am even considering throwing a cliff off is that a nurse. And believe me, if I can't find one, then I'll make one."
“Are you hungry?”
Was she hungry? Well, that was a bit of a random question she wasn't expecting. To answer, she was a little bit, but she could sustain through it. She had dealed with worse hunger problems back in the past of being an orphan. Here in a palace, she didn't really worry about it. So, she just shrugged her shoulders. She was just about to open her mouth to speak, when Josh beat her to it.
“If you’re hungry I’m sure we can get something…I wonder if the doc’s are gonna let me go back to my room and stuff…it would be nice to sleep without having to listen to the lovely sound of beeping in the background.”
...Did he really think that the doctors were going to let him out of the hospital so quickly? He had just gotten shot in the chest, and went through surgery. And even then, if they did take him back to his room, they would probably take the machines with him. So, even then the beeping would follow. There was no getting rid of the beeping. As of yet, that is...
And then the slight comedic mood that Ebony felt changed immediately with Josh's repsonse.
“I know…I’ll try not to scare you like that again…I promise…I’ll always be here for you.”
Immediately, Ebony looked down and off to the side. That was how she had felt for the orphans back in Cocoon. And look what had happened. But, she couldn't think of that now. She couldn't ever think of that. It scared her too much, even now. She jsut had to keep remembering that Josh was still here. But...she knew if she lost him too...she would probably not be able to go on in any world...Cocoon, or Delatorr. No matter who tried to stop her or talk her out of it. By then, it would be too painful for her to keep on going...But, she couldn't think of that either. All of that alone, was too painful on its own.
"You better not..." she said quietly standing up. She leaned over him and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead keeping her short hair pulled back with her hand. When she pulled back, she showed slight hesitation before giving him another soft kiss...this time on the lips. It felt weird, being the one to initiate the kissing, and so she couldn't help the blush that came upon her cheeks as she sat back down.
"...because you're the only thing I have left."
She laid her hand back over Josh's, much like when he was here the first time, but for a much different reason. This time the feelings were mutual instead of just saving him from an annoying nurse who never seemed to look at the whole picture and as to what was going on. She just looked back off to the side, not meeting his eye, still slightly embarrassed. She didn't know why either. She had just felt like she should do it. Plan and simple. And she hoped deeply that the nurse wouldn't come back at the moment...or Fal'Cie help her. Words: 839 Muse: Pretty good Notes: That line in italics is supposed to be her thoughts. Just to let you know. (Modified it, since it felt sorta choppy with me.)

Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Josh just laid back and relaxed, thinking of throwing that nurse off a cliff…well that sounded like Ebony and he wouldn’t doubt for a second that if she had the chance…she totally would. And Josh couldn’t help but chuckle at that, he could already see it playing out in his mind…quite entertaining actually. “Oh I bet you would…I’d pay money to see that.” He added with a chuckle as the silence rose again…and Josh decided to rest his voice and try not to strain himself with all the breathing and need for air with all the talking he was doing. For now he needed to rest and heal…to get better and be able to go back into fighting…there was something he really didn’t want to think about at the moment.
For now, rest was good, the only option Josh really had at this point in time, but he really did hope that soon he would be emitted back to his room and able to just have some peace and quiet there. He sighed knowing that probably wouldn’t happen, he might just have to stay overnight in the hospital wing and just deal with it…but he wasn’t going to make Ebony stay the whole time, she needed to be able to sleep in a bed, not a chair. She needed to be able to eat good food, not starve herself for a couple hours just to watch Josh sleep, no he wasn’t going to have that, and he would put up a fight on that subject…no matter how horrible he was feeling or how well he was doing.
Josh knew he had to be more careful when entering and exiting the battlefield…any day could be your last…and he wasn’t ready for that day to come anytime soon. He just nodded as Ebony clearly stated that he better not scare her like that again, which he would try his hardest, but some things you just don’t see coming. Like the attack on the General, Josh didn’t really see that one coming and he just leapt into action like a stupid person, not really worrying about the consequences of his actions. That was going to have to change. Josh was then surprised when Ebony got up, placed a kiss on his forehead then on his lips. Well, that certainly got his mind off pain, the annoying nurse, and anything else he was thinking about! His mind sort of went blank from there as she sat back down, her hand on tops of his before a wide grin stretched on his face and he looked over at Ebony though they weren’t making eye contact…and she was blushing. “Pink and Red are good colors for you…” he said with a light tone of humor to his voice as he grinned and closed his eyes. Black Researcher Those orphans gave me the name Ebony. The citizens of Cocoon gave me the name Blackwell. Now you'll see why. “Oh I bet you would…I’d pay money to see that.”
And she was sure that he would. It would be like a little show. Ebony would find/make a cliff, and throw the annoying nurse off of it, while Josh just watched. Just the thoughts and images alone were able to make Ebony grin. But, it was kinda sad how they hated this nurse so much. Oh well. It was the nurses falut for getting on their bad side and annoying them. Too bad for her.
...She wondered if Josh was going to be questioning her on what she was going to do tonight...She had been thinking about whether or not to stay there the whole time until he could go back to his room, which was near hers, and only take short breaks for the bathroom and food. But, she also knew that Josh most likely wouldn't allow any of that. He would make her go back to her room, even if he was hospitalized. The main reason was that she didn't know what that nurse was going to do. There was always the possibility of her doing something insane in the middle of the night. Ebony could always put up some sort of spell, but she would have to watch it, and sleeping would make her lose concentration, so that was out of the question. This was starting to get more complicated than it needed to be. Why couldn't she just ppund the truth into the girl and get it over with? It would be much, much easier.
“Pink and Red are good colors for you…”
Ebony's eyes widened, and se turned her head sharply to look at him. He had not just said that!...But, he had. And, Ebony jolted back, the blush increasing greatly. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it only moments later. Because, for once...Ebony was at a loss for words. She crossed her arms over her chest, and looked over at the wall, admiring a random spot, trying to think of something to say and all she got was, "Sh-shut up!"
She finally remembered the book that were laying near the legs the her chair and she quickly grabbed the one on top, actually remembering the page where she had left off, opening it, and sticking her face into it, hiding the still increasing blush that had pretty much reached her ears now. She hoped deeply that Josh wouldn't laugh at what she was reading either. It wasn't everyday that a mage got interesting into History and Architecture of a certain palace... Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Okay, so apparently this nurse chick, who’s name escaped Josh’s mind for the time being, had really gotten under his skin, so annoying she was. He couldn’t help but think of her that way, there was no way he liked her, even as a friend and he probably never would. He remembered the way she was before this all happened, even before he traveled to Cocoon when he first met Ebony, she had always goo-goo ga-ga-ed over him since high school. It was a horrible thing, Josh hadn’t led her on or anything, maybe it was the whole ‘Prince’ thing that got her attention…of course Josh would admit to anyone that he was no Prince Charming. Whatever possessed this woman to like him this much…beat the hell out of him.
With a small stretch Josh sunk into his pillow and placed his arms behind his head, laying there actually quite comfortably as his bright green eyes stared at the ceiling. “So Ebony…I have a favor to ask you alright? And please don’t make a fuss over it…” he said cutting his eyes over to her for a few brief moments, trying to read her face to see if there was any expression on it. He let his eyes drift back to the ceiling before speaking again. “I want you to stay in your room tonight…get some dinner, and not worry about me okay? I don’t want you sleeping in here or anywhere near the hospital wing. I don’t want to make your well-being suffer because of a few boo-boos I received.” He said with a small chuckle, his chest rising up and down a bit more as breathing and laughing became more natural and it didn’t hurt as much, especially with Morphine still running through his bloodstream.
Josh couldn’t help but let his smile widen as Ebony blushed even more, it was nice to see her showing off some emotions like that, even if she did tell him to shut up. He silently did a ‘zipper’ movement over his lips as if to zip them shut as he continued to chuckle at her reaction. It was cute he had to admit and very amusing. Of course everything about Ebony amused Josh, she was so unique and he knew he was never going to let her go, so long as she still wanted to be with him. Ebony was probably the best thing that had ever happened to the suffering soldier…but she made it all worthwhile. Once Ebony went back to her book Josh sighed a bit, looking back at the ceiling again.
“Ebony…I love-“ And he was cut off by the sound of the door just swooshing open. He flickered his eyes to the doorway and saw the nurse standing there, almost angry as she held needles on a tray and Josh instantly started to panic. I looked like one of those scenes in a horror movie, the one where you are about to die. “It’s time for your pain killers Mr. Raines.” She said in an agitated but sweet voice. And Josh let his eyes shift to Ebony, full of horror as if he were saying ‘she’s going to kill me with needles! Run!’Words: 630 Muse: Good Tagged: Ebony Notes: None really >.>

Black Researcher Those orphans gave me the name Ebony. The citizens of Cocoon gave me the name Blackwell. Now you'll see why. “So Ebony…I have a favor to ask you alright? And please don’t make a fuss over it…”...He didn't even start, and she already knew where this was going. She looked back at him, and narrowed her eyes slightly waiting for what he was about to say. She was pretty sure, but... “I want you to stay in your room tonight…get some dinner, and not worry about me okay? I don’t want you sleeping in here or anywhere near the hospital wing. I don’t want to make your well-being suffer because of a few boo-boos I received.”Yup. It was exactly what she was expecting. How could she not worry about him? That damn nurse was about ready to rape the Prince, and she knew it would happen if Ebony wasn't here. At any other point, she was sure that Josh could handle himself just fine, but he was in a hospital bed, with tubes stuck to him injecting morphine into his body, and he just got out of surgery. There was no way he would be able to protect himself, even if he tried. But, she also knew that if she attacked this argument any further he would be sure to snap, and maybe even hurt himself. And she couldn't have that. So, she just crossed her arms and looked off to the side, not matching his gaze. "...I'll do what I can."Silence then overtook the room, and Ebony read her book, the blush finally disappearing from her face, as she got back into tune. And then Josh spoke up. “Ebony…I love-“Her heart almost practically stopped, as he just about finished his sentence. Her breath hitched, and the words on the page suddenly became blurry and hard to read. She was just about to look up at him, her face showing immediate signs of shock, before the door to the hospital swung open and there was the nurse. Annoyance and all. Ebony's head turned sharply to look at her, and then the tray that held the needles. Oh...no... “It’s time for your pain killers Mr. Raines.”Mr. Raines? As much as she hated to admit, the nurse never called Josh, "Mr. Raines." And that meant, that this nurse meant business, even if her voice sounded all sweet and innocent. And pain killers? The guy was jacked up on morphine, for Fal'Cie's sake! He couldn't take any more or else he would be asleep for a week. And Ebony would not deal with that. The nurse started to wheel the cart towards them and she saw Josh look at her in the corner of her eye. Ok, this had gone far enough. If this nurse wasn't going to like what was going on, then too bad. Ebony would step up to the plate. She stood up, and set her book on her chair, crossing her arms over her chest, moving over to where the nurse was, which was still slightly in front of the door, and placed her foot on the cart, stopping not only it's movement, but the nurse as well. "Hey! Get your foot off of -""No."She cut the girl off with her own monotone reply, and glared back, as the girl practically snarled at her. She almost grinned at that. Did this girl really think she was going to be intimidating by just a look? Heh, not a chance. She grabbed the cart, and jerked it out of the girl's hands, who jolted back as Ebony turned and threw it against the wall. She quickly turned back, and grabbed the nurse by the collar, pulling her forward. Ebony kept her back to Josh, and talked in a low whisper so as to not allow him to listen...but she couldn't help it when her voice raised to the normal tone. When you're angry, you just can't keep quiet. "Let's get something straight here. You're a nuisance. You think if you just continue advancement, you might just be able to win over the Prince and make him your's. Well, you're wrong. Josh loves me, and I..."She stopped for a moment. The last time she had said these words was when she was alone in her room at the inn. Now, not only was Josh in the same exact room, but her "rival," so to say, was as well. But, she just pushed those thoughts to the back of mind, and kept it at the task at hand." "...And I love Josh. No, I don't love him for his position, or his power, or his money. I love him for him. And if you don't like it then too frickin' bad. Sometimes, you don't get what you want in life and you just have to deal with that. So just do your job, and Stay. Out. Of. The. Way."She let the nurse go, and took a step back, her gaze never faltering as the nurse stared back at her, gaping. She almost smirked when she realized she made the girl speechless, but then she saw movement. She glanced down quickly, to see the nurse's hand moving up fast to, what it seemed to be, slap her. Then Ebony snapped. She brought up her own, much quicker than the nurse, and did her own little "slap." "Black Zephyr!"A pentagram followed and in a split second, hurricane winds slapped the nurse in the face. It sent her flying back through the door, and far, FAR, down the hallway. Everything else in the line of fire went with her, and ended up in a pile down at the end, once the spell itself had ended. Ebony just stood there, her hand still outstretched as she looked on at the broken hospital door, and the wreckage that she had just caused. "...Oops."Words: 1074! Muse: EPIC! Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Ebony would do what she can…that meant she probably wasn’t going to listen to Josh’s wishes. But what could he do now? Not much of anything really. They could sit here and debate this all afternoon, but Josh wasn’t going to work himself up like that, for now, he’d just let Ebony do whatever she wanted. No need to make a fuss over it. But when the next thing happened, he was glad Ebony was here. That nurse walking in with a tray of needles on a cart, made Josh’s eyes widen and he looked over at Ebony with a look on his face that read utter horror. This girl was a psycho! At least at this rate that’s what Josh was thinking. Didn’t he have enough morphine in his body that he didn’t need any more medicine? This was fishy.
The more Josh thought about medicine and what it did to you, the more worried he got. He looked over at Ebony as she went and stepped on the cart the nurse was pushing. With wide eyes he watched as she threw the cart against the wall, needles and bottles crashing to the floor, Josh sat up a little bit even if it wasn’t comfortable for him. From this point of view Josh couldn’t really tell what Ebony was doing or saying, but he could only imagine the threats and looks Ebony must be giving this girl. If he didn’t feel so horrible right now he might be cheering her on, or jumping up to help her get rid of this pest. He sat there wide eyed still as Ebony’s tone rose and he heard what she was saying. Goosebumps appeared on his arms as her voice gave him chills…he could only imagine the look on the nurse’s face. Utter horror probably.
Once Ebony was done talking about how Josh loved her, and how she loved him, he sort of smiled, even in this weird moment. It was good to hear, but then he went back to his shocked state as the nurse went to slap Ebony…and well…that backfired. Josh sat straight up now and even got up from the medical bed he was laying in previously, walking over to Ebony and staring out the broken down and down the now messy hallway. “Well….you sure do pack a punch.” He said with a blank stare before he actually stared chuckling lightly. His chest rising up and down in sync with his shoulders as his discomfort rose a bit, but he would be fine. “I think this means I’ll be able to go back to my own room now.” He said placing a hand on Ebony’s shoulder. “I love you.” He said before leaning into her and giving her a kiss, finally getting to finish his statement before they were so rudely interrupted.Words: 566 Muse: Pretty good! Black Researcher Those orphans gave me the name Ebony. The citizens of Cocoon gave me the name Blackwell. Now you'll see why. Ebony looked down at her hand, trying to piece what had all happened just two seconds. She never had that much power for that spell before...were her emotions tied into it somehow? Sure, she was angry, but she didn't think she too angry to the point of where it affected her spells. After a few seconds of pondering this, she just shrugged and crossed her arms over her chest, admiring her handiwork which was all down the hallway. “Well…you sure do pack a punch.”She turned towards Josh, who was surprisingly out of his hospital bed. She wanted to push him back into it, but with the way he was looking, he seemed to be alright...at least, she hoped he was. She didn't want the guy overexerting himself just yet. “I think this means I’ll be able to go back to my own room now.”She just stared at him for a moment, before looking off to the side. She remembered the statement he had almost finished before this whole ordeal, and what she had said was still ringing in her head. She wondered if he had heard all that she had said, but was pretty sure he had since her voice had raised in volume because of her anger. However, all her questions were answered when Josh spoke up. "I love you."She quickly turned towards him, and was about to speak when he leaned down and kissed her. For the first few seconds she was in slight shock, but she got over it as she wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes. She pulled back first, and just stared up at him for a few seconds before speaking. "I love you too."After a few more seconds passed, she released her hold on him, and took a step back. She moved towards the entrance way, and turned back at him for a moment. "Seeing as how I'm sure the girl won't be bothering you from now on, I'll be heading off for bed. I'll be back here in the morning if they didn't move you. Night."She headed out of the hospital and down the hall. She had just turned the corner, when a sharp pain hit her ankle on her left foot, and she kneeled to the ground, clutching it. This had been happening more and more recently, and it was getting hard to hide it. She pushed herself off of the ground, and walked forward a bit, willing herself to get to her room at least. She couldn't tell Josh...not yet... Words: 545 Muse: Good Notes: *puts on suspense music* v.v

Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Looking down the hall at the destruction, it sort of amused Josh in a way. Although the hall was trashed and the girl was getting up trying to pick up from the mess, Josh just couldn’t help but chuckle. If only he had the power to do things like that, now he was sure the nurse wouldn’t bother him anymore, at least while Ebony was around. That was a safe thought and he just smiled as he was looking at Ebony’s handy work.
Despite the slight discomfort from being up and wandering around, Josh felt okay for the most part, he would surely have a word with the doctors requesting he be relocated back to his room, with just a good dose of medicine instead of being stuck in the hospital wing or having all the equipment in his room. Truly the guy was tough, he lived through some of the worst things ever it was almost as if, he were too stubborn to die…that’s how he liked to think of it, or that he was alive and getting all these second chances for a reason, but what could it be? He didn’t know, but he was hoping that nothing like this ever happened again, sure he lived through it but the pain before was so excruciating that he wanted to die at some times. That was the life of a soldier for you. Josh was just going to have to deal and try to get back on his feet as soon as possible, so he could get back to work.
Josh grinned after he had kissed Ebony, and she clearly stated that she loved him too. Of course he had already heard that from her little explosion a few moments ago, still hearing it a second time made him grin even more. It was good to know the person you absolutely adored, the one you would die for, loved you as well. “Oh I don’t think she’ll be bothering me for a long time.” Josh said quickly in agreement before she said night and watched her walk off. Good, so he was going to listen to his request. That made him a bit happier. Wandering back to his medical bed Josh couldn’t help but wonder if something was wrong with Ebony, not including the fact that she was probably irritated to wits end with that nurse. Something just seemed…out of place with her. Perhaps he’d mention something tomorrow when he saw her…for now he’d deal with his location and just try to get some sleep for the night…which wasn’t hard, once he hit the pillow and closed his eyes…he was out like a light.Words: 530 Muse: Good Tagged: Ebony! Black Researcher Those orphans gave me the name Ebony. The citizens of Cocoon gave me the name Blackwell. Now you'll see why. The next day Ebony woke up early in the morning, thanks to her internal alarm clock that always seemed to make her wake up extra early. And since there was no way to go right back to sleep, she just figured now was now, and she might as well get up and out of bed. She took a quick shower and got dressed, still slightly half-asleep. She wasn't really much of a morning person and it could be seen as she almost nodded off a couple of times while standing, but she just shook her head, and tried to focus. She quickly put on her boots, her striped one taking longer than the other since it was longer, and headed out. She wasn't sure if the doctors had already moved Josh to his bedroom, or if they had kept him in the hospital, since she had sort of rushed out of there. The memories from all of that quickly returned and she couldn't help the blush that set itself on her cheeks. She had said the "L" word how many times? More, than her entire lifetime, she was sure of that. She stopped for a moment, and looked down at her feet, before closing her eyes, and trying to think of some sort of other subject. But, that was a failure. Everything seemed to somehow just point out to him. Did this come with the package or something? She could also let out an exasperated sigh and continue onwards, toward the hospital wing. Once, there she noticed quickly that the door was not only fixed, but everything that had ended up down at the end of the hallway had either been replaced, fixed, or put back into it's place. Well, they did quick work around here. You could do that when you had uddles of cash at your disposal. Ebony could only let out another sigh before opening the hospital doors to see an empty bed, and a, what looked like, very bruised nurse. She tried to contain her laughter, she really did. But it was kind of hard, when one of those bruises resembled a lamp. That took Ebony over the edge. She fell to her knees laughing, while the nurse only scowled. "Hmph! Laugh away all you want. This won't be the last you hear of me."And with that little tiny threat sent up into the air, the girl turned on her heel and walked off, while Ebony recovered. Now she was really glad her spell had gone overboard. But, with the empty hospital bed, that meant that Josh must have been moved back to his room. So, Ebony retraced her steps back up to her room, and down the hallway just a bit more, coming up to Josh's. She stood there for a few minutes, before taking a deep breath, and tapping her knuckles lightly against the wood of the door. "Josh? You awake?"Words: 593 Muse: Good Notes: *glomps*

Super SoldierI am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Josh was asleep, out like a light, and moved to his room. He had no idea where he was until sometime in the middle of the night he woke up and found himself in his soft bed covered in blankets, no beeping, no doctors…just a small IV tube into his wrist with a bag of morphine hanging on a pole. That he could deal with for now, it kept the pain away and it didn’t beep, a win win situation right? Josh was half awake for about 10 minutes, just laying there thinking about the day’s events. Not much was supposed to happy, a little guard duty around the base, a few chuckles with the guys, and then head home to sleep for an hour then do it all over again…but no. He had gotten shot…four times to be exact, and it was almost a miracle that he lives, especially since he was shot in the chest. Thankfully none of the bullets hit his heart or any other important area’s in his body.
After falling back asleep again, Josh didn’t even dream, it was all just dark and quick as the hours went by, and soon, morning had come and Josh was still out like a light. He had a long day the previous day before this one, and no one could blame him if he ended up sleeping half the day away, but with being a soldier and always being awake at specific hours, it just sort of stuck with you. His green eyes flickered open and he turned his head to look at the clock on his nightstand. 5:30 a.m. Lovely. He was always up around this time of day anyways, so today wouldn’t be different. With his current situation though a nap was indeed in his near future, he could see it happening already and that stretched a grin onto his face.
His room was dark with the curtains hanging over the windows and the sky was still dark outside. This gave Josh some time to think. He still wondered about the way Ebony had been acting yesterday, of course that could’ve just been nerves right? He knew he wouldn’t be exactly normal had he been in her position and her in his, he would’ve probably had a meltdown or something, so that magical blast she performed on the nurse, it really didn’t faze him. Josh just had to stop worrying and focus on resting and getting better. Through the silence, Josh just snoozed a bit, dozing on and off as the sun began to rise, not really brightening up the room since dark curtains covered the windows, but it was relaxing to lay in the dark and doze. Until he heard knocks on his door and Ebony’s faint voice asking if he was awake.
Josh’s eyes were half open as he continued to doze a bit, but he responded clearly. “Yeah sort of.” He said before chuckling, yawning and closing his eyes again. “Come in if you want.” He said relaxing his body into the soft mattress below him and pulling the covers up to his chin, being toasty warm it was nice to have relaxing time. Who knows, perhaps he would have time to catch up on all that lost sleep now! And eat until he exploded! Okay, maybe not exploded, but maybe his health would stop declining for the next few days he would be recovering, which meant lots of sleep and rest, and whatever he wanted really. With a grin on his face he just let it all sink in, he was going to get some time to relax! Even if he was in a discomforting position, it was still nice.Words: 705 Muse: Actually...it was sort of good! Tagged: Ebony Notes: None really.
